Sai Sudharsan will not have many problems adjusting to the tweaks for the second Test between India and South Africa where tea will take place before lunch. The second Test in Guwahati will be played with modified session timings due to the early sunrise in the Indian Northeast.
Play on all five days will begin half an hour early in Guwahati with tea being the first break followed by lunch after the second session. Traditionally, Test matches have a lunch break after the opening session and then tea is taken after the second session.
“I don’t mind having tea before lunch, I already drink tea during lunch, so I’ll probably enjoy it. Of course, it’s new, but we’ll get used to it. It’s exciting to explore,” said the Indian batter on the JioStar show ‘Follow The Blues’.
Markram not a fan of changed session timings
South Africa opener Aiden Markram had a completely different opinion on the changes in the session timings.
“It’s interesting. I’m not the biggest fan of it, to be honest. I think Test cricket should always start at 10 a.m. with lunch followed by tea. But those are the cards you’re dealt, and you just get on with it.”
He hopes that the early tea does not become a common thing in Test matches.
“It’ll be something different to experience, but hopefully, it doesn’t become a common thing,” Markram said on the show.
Meanwhile, Markram’s teammate Keshav Maharaj called the change interesting.

We respect the rules put in place, and we’re here to compete and give our best as a South African unit,” said Keshav Maharaj on the JioStar show.
India will have a big task at hand when they take on South Africa in the second Test starting Saturday. India lost the opening Test by 30 runs in what was the first victory for Proteas in the traditional format in India in almost 16 years.
