Before the Asia Cup 2025, the India and Pakistan cricket teams are set to clash in the semi-final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 at Edgbaston on Thursday. The group match between the two teams was cancelled after Indian players pulled out after criticism from fans, but so far, there’s no news on the cancellation of the upcoming match between India and Pakistan.
However, one of the major sponsors of WCL, EaseMyTrip, has boycotted the India vs Pakistan, saying that “Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand.”
IND vs PAK semis in WCL 2025 boycotted by EaseMyTrip
The announcement was made by EaseMyTrip founder a chairman Nishant Pitti on X. “India vs Pakistan – WCL Semi-Final. We applaud Team India @India_Champions for their outstanding performance in the World Championship of Legends, you’ve made the nation proud. However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is not just another game, Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand,” Pitti wrote on X.
“@EaseMyTrip, we stand with India. We cannot support any event that attempts to normalise relations with a country that promotes terrorism,” he added while announcing the boycott.
“The people of India have spoken and we hear them. EaseMyTrip will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match in WCL. Some things are bigger than sport. Nation first business later Always. Jai Hind.”
EaseMyTrip had shared a similar stand when the group stage match between India and Pakistan was cancelled in WCL 2025. The travel-tech company had said that they do not want to associate with Pakistan matches.
Meanwhile, all eyes are now focused on the next step of the WCL organisers, as they have not made any official statement. The fact that the Indian cricket team is also scheduled to take on Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 may influence the organisers’ decision to go ahead with the match.
The Indian team qualified for the semi-finals by finishing fourth in the group stage, winning just one out of five matches, while Pakistan came first. They won four matches.
