India captain Suryakumar Yadav lost the toss and has been asked to bat first against England in the semifinal of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
After winning the toss, England skipper Harry Brook said his team wanted to restrict India to a low score and then chase down the target. SKY said he would not have minded batting first either.
“We’d have batted. Wind around, don’t think there’ll be dew. Mood in camp is positive. We’ve tightened our screws, our brand of cricket has been different. Best wicket, credit to the curator and groundsman. Same team,” SKY said at the toss.
“Looks a good wicket, hope to get a good start and then chase it down. India have a lot more experience, we’ll try and assess conditions and play at our best. T20 is fickle, way we’ve played we’ve scraped through and holds us in good stead. Overton comes in for Rehan,” Brook said.
India have gone with the same playing XI for the crucial knockout clash, while England have made one change to their lineup, with Jamie Overton coming in place of Rehan Ahmed.
Both teams have been in strong form in the tournament and will now battle for a place in the final. India reached the semifinal after beating West Indies in their last Super 8 game, while England also impressed with key wins in the latter stages of the competition.
