Jasprit Bumrah’s absence was hardly felt in the 2nd India vs England Test, as pacers Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep stepped up for the team. While it was Siraj who ran through the England lineup in the first innings, picking up 6 wickets, it was the turn of Akash in the 2nd innings.

Akash Deep picks maiden 5-wicket haul

Having taken four wickets in the first innings, Akash Came back to register his maiden five-wicket haul in the second innings. He destroyed the top order of England in the final phase of Day 4. He got the crucial wickets of Ben Duckett and Joe Root. Following that in the morning session of Day 5, he picked two early scalps, sending Ollie Pope and Harry Brook back to the hut. Jamie Smith, who was well set at 88, became his 5th victim.

Akash Deep is drawing immense praise for his bowling performance as India won the match with a thumping margin of 336 runs. He finished the innings with 6 wickets and amassed 10 wickets in the match. He is one of the contenders for the player of the match award.

India beat England by 336 runs

Team India scripted a thumping victory of 337 runs at Edgbaston to level the series with England at 1-1. Batters set the tone for India by putting a monumental total of 587 on board in the 1st innings. In response, England could only get to 407, thanks to incredible bowling from Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep. Siraj picked 6 wickets, whereas Deep took 4.

The second innings saw India showcasing another dominant display of batting. Captain Shubman Gill, who stood out in the first innings by smashing 269, scored another century. This time he added 161 runs to the scorecard. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja also played a crucial role with half centuries. India declared the second innings at 427/6, setting up a target of 608 for England. England batters flopped again and surrendered in front of a disciplined Indian bowling. They bundled out at 271, and with that India won the match by 336 runs. Akash Deep picked his maiden 5 wicket haul in the second innings, he finished with a total of 10 wickets in the match.
