India vs England Highlights, 2nd Test Match Day 4: India declared the innings at 427/6, leaving a monumental target of 608 for England to chase. England lost their way early on as they lost three top order batsmen in the final session and finished at 72/3 at stumps on Day 4.

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test Day 4 Highlights: Team India's dominant display continued in the 2nd innings as well. Shubman Gill once again led from the front and scored an entertaining 161 off just 162 balls. He received support from Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja in the process, both the left-handed batters got to their respective fifties. Earlier in the day, KL Rahul also smashed a 50. All this amassed into 427/6, where India declared and set up a total of 608 for England to chase. England lost three crucial wickets early on in the chase and finished at 72/3 at stumps on Day 4.

India vs England Live Score: Stumps Day 4

Day 4 summary at Stumps Day 4- India 427/6 declared. England-72/3 after 16 overs.

It was expected to be a defining day for India in the Test match and it provided to be just that. The visitors took the momentum forward gained in the final session of Day 3 and pounced authority over England from the outset. A positive intent was visible from each batter. While Karun Nair was not able to capitalise on the start, KL Rahul went on to complete his 18th fifty. Following Rahul’s dismissal, it was all Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill show. Both attacked and put England completely out of the contest. Pant dismissed after scoring 65, Gill on the other hand stood out once again with a blazing 161 off 162 balls. Ravindra Jadeja again proved to be hefty with the bat. He went unbeaten at 69. Combined effort by all the batters took India to 427/6, where captain Gill decided to intervene and announced declaration.

Chasing 608, England lost both its openers cheaply and towards the end of the day Akash Deep rattled the stumps of Joe Root. England finished at 72/3 after 16 overs at stumps. India overwhelmed the hosts on Day 4 and have set the stage for a famous victory on Day 5 at Edgbaston.

Despite losing two wickets, the session belonged to India and it is purely because of the positive intent showcased by each batsman. Karun Nair again had a good start but squandered it yet again. Karun Nair edged one through the slips for four in the 17th over as India moved to 81/1. He survived a close call as the ball fell between Harry Brook and Joe Root and neither of them attempted to catch. KL Rahul is on 38, while Nair has moved to 13. The lead is now 261.

India vs England, 2nd Test Day 4 Highlights: India continued to dominate the second Test against England at Edgbaston, finishing Day 3 in a strong position with a lead of 244 runs and nine wickets still in hand. After Shubman Gill’s brilliant 269 helped India post a huge total of 587, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep tore through the English batting lineup to give India a big advantage.

India started the match with a bang as their batters piled up the runs. Captain Shubman Gill led the way with a stunning 269 from 387 balls. He got great support from Ravindra Jadeja, who made 89, and Washington Sundar, who added 42. Yashasvi Jaiswal also played a solid knock of 87 at the top.

In reply, England got off to the worst possible start. They were reduced to 25/3 early, with Akash Deep and Siraj removing the top three cheaply. Siraj was the star, ending with fantastic figures of 6/70. Akash Deep also impressed with 4/88. The only resistance came from Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, who forged a brilliant 303-run stand for the sixth wicket.

But once Brook was bowled by Akash Deep, the rest of the English batting collapsed quickly. England were all out for 407 in just 89.3 overs. India will look to extend their lead to over 400 and then put pressure on England in the fourth innings.
