The blockbuster Champions Trophy meeting between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on 23 February achieved another broadcast feat as it became the second-most-watched cricket match in TV history. Virat Kohli starred in that highly-anticipated Group A clash at a sold-out Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 23 February with an unbeaten 100, completing his 51st century in the process, as the Men in Blue collected their second win in as many outings.

Indo-Pak Champions Trophy game sets another viewership record
According to JioStar, the India-Pakistan Champions Trophy match received 20.6 crore live views, the second most for a game of cricket on television. It surpassed the TV viewership for the 2023 ICC World Cup meeting between the two arch-rivals in Ahmedabad, which was also won by India.
It’s important to note, however, their claim of the Champions Trophy meeting being the second-most watched cricket match in television history does not include World Cup matches.

The match had also smashed online viewership records by hitting a peak concurrency of 60.2 crore – achieved when Kohli hit the winning boundary – on JioHotstar. The viewership was steady when the match got underway, and would skyrocket towards the end when Kohli was brilliantly handling the chase.

After beating Bangladesh and Pakistan by identical margins (six wickets), India would complete a hat-trick of victories with a 44-run victory over New Zealand. They would then qualify for a third consecutive Champions Trophy final by handing Australia a four-wicket loss .
