After expressing solidarity with the Pahalgam terror attack victims following India’s win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Group A match, T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav took another dig at Men In Green after a second consecutive win over them in the ongoing tournament on Sunday. The 35-year-old Suryakumar asked the media personnel to stop referring to India vs Pakistan matches as a rivalry considering the huge gulf in class between the two teams.
On Sunday, India demolished Pakistan by six wickets, completing the 172-run chase without any fuss in just 18.5 overs to make a winning start in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 stage.
‘IND vs PAK is not a rivalry anymore’
This was India’s seventh consecutive win over Pakistan across the white-ball formats in completed games since 2022. India’s last defeat to Pakistan came in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
“You guys should stop asking questions about the rivalry between India-Pakistan. According to me, if the two teams are playing 15-20 games, and the scoreline is 7-7 or 8-7, then it is called a rivalry. 10-0, 10-1, I don’t know what the stat is, but this is not a rivalry anymore.

More Shorts“I think we played better cricket than them (Pakistan), and also from a bowling point of view,” Suryakumar Yadav said at the post-match press conference.
A jesty Suryakumar also had a humorous take on Indian fielders dropping four catches as Pakistan scored 171 in the first innings at Dubai. Abhishek Sharma dropped two catches, while Kuldeep Yadav and Shubman Gill spilled one each.
“Fielding coach ne already email daal diya hai ladkon ko office mein aane ke liye, jinke haathon mein butter laga tha (The fielding coach has sent an email to the boys, who had buttered fingers, to appear before him at his office). But this happens, it is a part of the game. I am okay with it because it happened in the first game itself, and we have more crucial games to go.”
Abhishek and Gill compensated for the dropped catches with a 105-run opening partnership as India extended their head-to-head record against Pakistan in the Asia Cup to 12-3.
