Former Pakistan Prime Minister and national cricket team captain Imran Khan, who has been languishing in jail since August 2023, has taken a dig at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi for “destroying” the sport in the country.

Imran slams PCB head Naqvi
According to Aleema, Imran criticised Naqvi while arguing that Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is destroying the country.
“The way Mohsin Naqvi destroyed Pakistan cricket, Asim Munir is destroying Pakistan," Imran Khan said in his message.
Aleema added that Imran has vowed not to “bow down” in front of his political adversaries. “No matter what you can do with us (me and Bushra Bibi), put us in solitary confinement; we will not bow down."
It’s no secret that Pakistan cricket is facing multiple issues, as the quality of the game has declined in the country in recent years. Their latest contracts list does not include a single player in the top category , highlighting the lack of match-winning talent.
Pakistan cricket hosts crisis meeting
Recently, an almost three-hour long meeting was held in Lahore by top PCB officials to dissect the issues related to the downfall of Pakistan cricket. Constant chopping and changing of coaches, players and selectors under four PCB chairmen since 2021 emerged as one of the main issues.
It was also felt that the PCB’s decision to reduce bilateral Test series to just two matches has also impacted the team’s growth adversely, as it has brought down the number of games against top sides.
