Amid news of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) planning to force Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma out of the ODI team , the latest ICC Men’s Rankings for the 50-over format have sent a strong reminder of their prowess. Both Kohli and Kohli find themselves among the top four ODI batters in the world, while new India Test captain Shubman Gill is in the first position.
Keeping fourth-ranked Kohli out of the top three is Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who has dropped to the third position, while Rohit jumped to the second spot in the latest rankings released on Wednesday. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell completes the top five.
Kohli, Rohit continue to dominate ICC ODI rankings
Neither Rohit and Kohli has played any international match since the Champions Trophy 2025, which India won by beating New Zealand in the final in March 2025, but continue to be in the top four of the world rankings. In the Champions Trophy 2025, Kohli amassed 218 runs in five matches at an average of 54.50, while Rohit gathered 180 at 36, helping India win the tournament.

They have already retired from the T20I and Test formats.
India’s Shreyas Iyer is also part of the top, at the eighth spot.
Among the bowlers, India’s Kuldeep Yadav is in the second spot, behind Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana. South African Keshav Maharaj, Namibia’s Bernard Schlotz and Rashid Khan of Afghansitan are in the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Ravindra Jadeja is the only other Indian bowler in the top 10, at the ninth position. He’s also in the 10th position in the rankings for ODI all-rounders.
The top three are Azmatullah Omarzai (Afghanistan), Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan) and Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe).
