Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 like how they ended their IPL 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, going after every ball, trying to smash it out of the park. They clearly looked well-placed and hungry to bring up the highest team score in IPL, however, that didn’t happen on Sunday.
SRH, powered by Ishan Kishan’s mind-blowing 106 on debut, posted 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) —just one run short of the highest team total in IPL history. The record for the highest total is also held by Sunrisers, who scored 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Sunrisers dominated highest team totals list in IPL
The second-highest team total in IPL history also belonged to SRH, who had scored 277/3 against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad last year. With their latest score, that total has now become the third highest.
The fourth-highest total belongs to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who scored 272/7 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2024 at Visakhapatnam.
SRH also hold the record for the fifth-highest total, having scored 266/7 against DC in Delhi last year.
In sixth place is RCB’s 263/5 against the now-defunct Pune Warriors, a record set in Bengaluru in 2013. This stood as the highest team total in IPL history until last season when SRH and KKR surpassed it.
