Harry Brook came into the Ashes with a lot of expectations not just of scoring runs but also of behaving appropriately on the tour as he was given ‘final warning’ by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) ahead of the series due to his poor conduct in New Zealand. A report in the The Daily Telegraph reveals that the England white-ball skipper clashed with a nightclub bouncer before arriving during the New Zealand which preceded the Ashes.
The right-hander was close to getting sacked as the captain of the England white-ball teams due to these issues, the report states which also adds that he was fined £30,000 ($40,330) the maximum amount possible by the ECB for the incident.
The said clash occurred on October 31 last year, hours before the third ODI between England and New Zealand. Brook was denied entry into a nightclub as the bouncers suspected he was drunk. The 26-year-old then engaged in an altercation with a bouncer and was hit. He did not suffer any injury and captained England next afternoon.

Brook offers apology
“I want to apologise for my actions. I fully accept that my behaviour was wrong and brought embarrassment to both myself and the England team,” Brook said in a statement released to The Daily Telegraph.
“Representing England is the greatest honour of all, which I take seriously and I am deeply sorry for letting down my team-mates, coaches and supporters. I have reflected on the lessons it has taught me about responsibility, professionalism and the standards expected of those representing your country.

Brook, as per the report, himself told the ECB about the incident. He could only score six runs in the game as England slumped to a two-wicket defeat. New Zealand thrashed England 3-0 in the series.
Brook was also pictured drinking recently as controversy surrounded England’s players’ trip to Noosa during the breaks between Ashes matches. The 26-year-old, tipped to be the next big thing in English cricket, had a disappointing tour to Australia where he could only score two half-centuries in 10 innings and scored 358 runs as his team lost the Ashes 1-4.
