Team India’s exceptional victory at Edgbaston humbled British Journalist Joe Wilson, who asked the Indian captain Shubman Gill about the team’s “not-so-proud” record at the venue ahead of the game. Team India entered the 2nd Test on the back of 19 losses at the venue before. Nevertheless, India left the history behind and produced maiden win in Birmingham. A victory by 336 runs meant that Wilson’s query did not age well. Shubman did not forget the Joe Wilson’s query and asked for his presence following India’s glorious win. Realising that his question had backfired on him, Wilson swore to never motivate Shubman again.

Journalist Joe Wilson reacts to Gill trolling him

“I can’t see my favourite journalist. Where is he? I wanted to see him,” Gill said at the post-match press conference when asked by an Indian journalist about his reaction to the same question now.

Reacting to Gill trolling him, Wilson shared his thoughts to RevSports. The experienced journalist said his question might have motivated Shubman Gill and the Indian side to put up a show in the second Test. “I won’t say anything that motivates him,” Wilson said when asked if he would change his question before the third Test at Lord’s. “I think he’s a real gentleman. He answers every question with dignity and intelligence. He’s leading his team pretty well in all departments, especially in the media.”

While the Edgbaston win will go down in the history books, it is time for Team India to forget the win and shift focus on the 3rd Test, which is scheduled to start on Thursday at the iconic Lord’s. As India annihilated the home side in the 2nd Test, a resurgence will be expected from Ben Stokes and Co. As for India, they need to ride on the momentum that garnered at Edgbaston. With all to look forward to, an intriguing contest is set to unfold at the Mecca of Cricket.
