India vs ENG live, 3rd Test Day 3, Lord’s: The third Test between India and England is finely poised at Lord’s as Shubman Gill and Co face a tricky Day 3, trailing the hosts by 242 runs . Team India still have KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant at the crease, but three crucial wickets have already fallen and this is the last recognised pure batting pair. The remaining batters for India are Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, followed by the tailenders.
India face tough task on Day 3 of Lord’s Test
India have still have a steep ask ahead of them after some poor bowling and fielding allowed Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse to hit fifties from the lower order and take England to a solid score of 387 on a sluggish track at Lord’s on Day 2. The pitch is only expected to deteriorate further, which means India’s first innings total could prove to be the difference between victory and defeat for the Gill-led side.
The good news is that Pant is available for batting despite suffering a finger injury on Day 1 and missing wicket-keeping duties for the large part during England’s innings. He scored 19 not out of 33 balls on Friday, while Rahul added 53 from 113 balls.
The Rahul-Pant partnership is currently worth 38 runs, but the duo must look to take it beyond 150 and help India cut down the deficit as much as possible. Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes have picked a wicket each for England so far.
