India vs England LIVE Score, 5th Test Day 2: Follow live updates from the second day of the fifth India vs England Test at the Oval on Friday (1 August) on our blog here. India finished Day 1 on 204/6 after consistent rain interruptions impacted the opening day of the match.
The pick of Indian batters was Karun Nair, who scored 52 not out on his return to the team and his first 50+ score since his 303 not out against the same team in December 2016. Sai Sudharsan played well for his 38 but could not convert it into a big score on a green top as Shubman Gill suffered an unfortunate run out.
India aim for solid first innings total
Washington Sundar was still at the crease when Stumps were called on Day 1 after 64 overs. For England, Gus Atkinson did well with the ball as he returned to the team, taking two wickets. Josh Tongue also picked up two wickets on a day when England bowlers were guilty of losing the line and length quite often on a helpful pitch.
Senior pacer Chris Woakes took one wicket, but injured his left shoulder while fielding and may miss the rest of the match .
On Day 2, all eyes will be on the Nair-Sundar partnership as India look to reach closer to 300 runs. That would be a very solid score considering rain is expected to play a more significant role in the match.
