India vs England LIVE Score: OUT! Sai Sudharsan fails to make the most of his lifeline as Atkinson traps him leg-before with a peach of a delivery!

Sudharsan, who had been dropped on 7 by Crawley, finds himself on all fours after getting hit on the pad plumb in front of middle. Goes for a review more out of hope than anything else, and has to make the slow walk back to the pavilion as he gets three reds on Hawk-Eye. IND 70/2; lead by 47

India vs England LIVE Score: Jaiswal dropped for a second time today – this time by Dawson at deep backward square leg!

Jaiswal hooks a short ball from Tongue, but hits it straight to Dawson who’s stationed in front of the boundary. Except he has a puzzled look on his face as the ball pops out of his hand. After Atkinson, it’s Tongue’s turn to have a catch dropped off his bowling. That’s not all – Sudharsan gets a reprieve in the following over after Crawley fails to latch on to the ball in the slip cordon, this time off Overton’s bowling. IND 64/1 after 15, lead by 41

India vs England LIVE Score: England consider reviewing an unsuccessful caught-behind appeal by Tongue against Rahul

Stand-in captain Ollie Pope, however, decides against it in the end. Turns out the ball had made not contact with the outside edge and had brushed Rahul’s pad on its way to the keeper. Unlikely it would have gone on to hit the stumps either, in case England were taking the LBW part into consideration, given how much the ball had climbed. Tidy over from Tongue with just two coming off it. IND 28/0 after 6; lead by 5
August 1, 2025, 22:43:42 (IST)

India vs England LIVE Score: DROPPED! Close shave for Jaiswal as Brook spills a catch at second slip following a thick outside edge!

He moves past England captain Ben Stokes, who missed the fifth Test at The Oval due to injury, and currently has 18 wickets to his name. Given both Stokes and Jasprit Bumrah are not playing this match, there’s a good chance of the Hyderabadi pacer finishing top of the list.

India vs England LIVE Score, 5th Test Day 2: Follow live updates from the second day of the fifth India vs England Test at the Oval on Friday (1 August) on our blog here. India finished Day 1 on 204/6 after consistent rain interruptions impacted the opening day of the match.

The pick of Indian batters was Karun Nair, who scored 52 not out on his return to the team and his first 50+ score since his 303 not out against the same team in December 2016. Sai Sudharsan played well for his 38 but could not convert it into a big score on a green top as Shubman Gill suffered an unfortunate run out.

India aim for solid first innings total

Washington Sundar was still at the crease when Stumps were called on Day 1 after 64 overs. For England, Gus Atkinson did well with the ball as he returned to the team, taking two wickets. Josh Tongue also picked up two wickets on a day when England bowlers were guilty of losing the line and length quite often on a helpful pitch.

Senior pacer Chris Woakes took one wicket, but injured his left shoulder while fielding and may miss the rest of the match .

On Day 2, all eyes will be on the Nair-Sundar partnership as India look to reach closer to 300 runs. That would be a very solid score considering rain is expected to play a more significant role in the match.
