England vs India Highlights, 5th Test: Karun Nair's unbeaten 52 steers India to 204/6 at stumps

Nair and Sundar forge an unbroken seventh-wicket partnership that’s currently worth 51, which ensures India do not endure any more hiccups after losing three wickets in relatively quick succession post-tea.

Bethell keeps it tidy in the two overs that he bowls before stumps, conceding four runs, and he’ll be expected to bowl a fair bit in this game, especially with senior all-rounder Chris Woakes’ participation uncertain after his shoulder injury.

Woakes gives the ball a chase down the ground after a straight drive by Karun Nair, and puts in a slide to save a run. The all-rounder, however, is seen lying on the ground clutching his left shoulder, which should lead to flutters in the English camp – especially with talismanic all-rounder and captain Ben Stokes missing this Test due to injury.

Woakes eventually leaves the field with his left arm in a sling, as a cloud hangs over his participation in the remainder of the game.

With the covers coming off at The Oval and the sun finally making its presence felt after being hidden behind clouds all day long, play should be resuming on time at 4.30 pm local time (9 pm IST).

Keep in mind play can go on as late as 7.30 pm local time (midnight in India) in order for the umpires to make up for lost time due to rain.

According to Accuweather, there’s a 72-85 per cent chance of rain from 4-6 pm local time (8.30-10.30 pm IST). Which means we could face more interrupts later in the evening even if play resumes at The Oval after the current interruption.

The probability of rain reduces as the day progresses, and goes under 50 per cent after 6 pm local time, which means we could get a stretch of uninterrupted play shortly before stumps.
