MS Dhoni drops Virat Kohli Team India hotel after reunion at his Ranchi residence with Rishabh Pant and Ruturaj Gaikwad

A special dinner party was arranged at MS Dhoni’s Ranchi home as Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Ruturaj Gaikwad visited the former captain ahead of the first ODI against South Africa in the city on Sunday (30 November). Besides the dinner party, what caught the eyes of the fans was Dhoni personally driving Kohli back to the team hotel after the get-together.

It has been a tradition for a while that Indian players visit Dhoni’s house whenever the team is playing an international match in Ranchi. And it was no different on Thursday as some of the biggest names from Team India made their way to Dhoni’s residence in the Jharkhand city.

Reunion at Dhoni’s Ranchi home as Kohli, Pant visit

In the videos going viral on social media, one can see Kohli, Pant and Gaikwad reaching Dhoni’s house for dinner on 27 November. The video of Kohli reaching Dhoni’s house has been shared by Star Sports with a heart-warming caption – “Reunion of the year?”

While the strong friendship bond between Dhoni and Kohli is well known, Pant has always admired the former India captain as his mentor and Gaikwad is the captain of Dhoni’s Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings.

There are reports that more Indian players were present at the dinner party, but there’s no confirmation yet.

What also went viral were the images of Dhoni driving Kohli back to the team hotel, which only highlighted the camaraderie between the two greats of Indian cricket.

Interestingly, the dinner get-together at Dhoni’s house has come just ahead of the India vs South Africa ODI series. After losing 2-0 to South Africa in the Tests, India need to make a spirited comeback in the ODIs to calm down the agitated fans.

The ODI series would also be another opportunity for Indian fans to witness Rohit Sharma and Kohli in action after the stalwarts announced their retirement from Tests and T20Is.
