Delhi Capitals have a very good chance to finally win the Indian Premier League in 2026, believes Kiran Kumar Grandhi, chairman and co-owner of the franchise. The Capitals had a good time at the mini auction in Abu Dhabi where they signed a good mix of youth and experienced names and Grandhi alongside co-owner Parth Jindal was happy with their squad.
Among the standout signings of the day for the Capitals was uncapped Indian all-rounder Auqib Nabi Dar, who was signed for Rs 8.40 crore. Auqib is a fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir who has consistently performed in domestic cricket.
DC also got some big names at low prices in Ben Duckett and David Miller who both were signed at Rs 2 crore only. Kyle Jamieson, Pathum Nissanka and Lungi Ngidi also found their way into the Delhi side which also signed the uncapped Sahil Parikh.

‘DC have covered most bases’
Grandhi feels his side have most bases covered and the team will have a good chance next season.
“We went into the auction with a clear plan and were able to secure most of the players we had identified, Grandhi said. “We targeted experienced overseas batters like David Miller and Ben Duckett, which helped us strengthen those slots, while also investing in the future with a young talent like Sahil Parakh.”
“In addition, we picked up a very promising bowler from Jammu and Kashmir in Auqib, who has been performing consistently. Overall, I believe we’ve covered most bases and built a strong, well-balanced squad. If we play as a unit, show courage on the field and make the most of our opportunities, we have a very good chance this season. Our fans deserve nothing less,” he added.

Jindal, the other co-owner of the franchise talked about the return of Prithvi Shaw to the Capitals. Shaw, who was retained by the franchise in earlier seasons, was released last year and went unsold in the auction.
However, on Tuesday, DC raised the only bid for Shaw and bought the opener back.
Speaking about Shaw’s re-signing with the Capitals, Jindal said, “Prithvi has done well for Delhi Capitals in the past. Every player goes through ups and downs, and this is an opportunity for him to make a strong comeback. We see this as a second chance for Prithvi, and I’m really looking forward to seeing him return to Delhi, take this opportunity seriously and give his best for the team.”
