 "Delhi Capitals bowling coach Munaf Patel penalised by BCCI after argument with match official")
Delhi Capitals (DC) bowling coach Munaf Patel has been penalised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his on-field behaviour during the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.
The BCCI in its press release did not reveal the reason behind punishing Patel but shared that the former India pacer has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
“Munaf Patel, Bowling Coach, Delhi Capitals has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday,” BCCI said in a statement.
“Munaf Patel admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 - which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game - and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.
“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”
Why DC’s Munaf Ptael has been penalised by BCCI?
It has been speculated that Munaf was penalised for his argument with a match official after the former India pacer was not allowed to send a player into the middle to convey his message. In a viral video, Munaf can be seen arguing with an official.

Coming to Article 2.20, under which Patel has been charged. It covers all types of conduct that are contrary to the spirit of the game and are not specifically and adequately covered by the specific offences set out elsewhere in this Code of Conduct.
“…Article 2.20 may prohibit, without limitation, the following: the use of an illegal bat or illegal wicket-keeping gloves; and failure to comply with the provisions of clause 6.3 of the IPL Match Playing Conditions,” the IPL Code of Conduct states.
DC won the match against RR in the Super Over.
