Rohit Sharma’s return to IPL 2025 didn’t go as planned, as he was dismissed for a duck in Mumbai Indians’ clash against Chennai Super Kings. R Ashwin, making his comeback to CSK, struck in the very first over, giving Chennai an early breakthrough and setting the tone for a strong start.

Rohit Sharma’s return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) lasted just four balls as he was dismissed for a duck in the first over of the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Rohit was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed as Shivam Dube took the catch at the short mid-wicket. Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed had another quick success as he clean-bowled wicketkeeper-batter Ryan Rickelton for 13 in his second over.

Making a return to CSK, Ravichandran Ashwin was the next bowler to take a wicket as he got Will Jacks caught at mid-off by Dube. It was Ashwin’s first over as MI managed only 52/3 in the powerplay.

Suryakumar Yadav (19 off 14) and Tilak Varma (8 off 5) are still batting for Mumbai.

Earlier, CSK won the toss as captain Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to field first in their first match of IPL 2025.

Ryan Rickelton and Satyanarayana Raju are playing their first IPL matches while Will Jacks (former RCB) and Mitchell Santner (former CSK) are making their debuts for Mumbai Indians.
