Well, that's it from the 1st ODI then. What a thrilling way to get underway in the ODI series. We had a nail-biter of a finish, where Pakistan showed all class. And there are 2 more ODIs on the way. The second one begins at 12 PM Local (0700 GMT) on Sunday, 1st November 2020. We hope to have your company for that. Until then, take care and goodbye from our side.

Babar Azam, Pakistan's VICTORIOUS SKIPPER, says that he was expecting a close finish like this. States that Zimbabwe batted well. Admits that from Pakistan's side their opening with the bat was not good. Will sit and discuss that and see to improve that, he says. Says further that in the first innings, it was two-paced and hence he struggled. On reserving Afridi and Riaz towards the end, Azam states that the duo performed really well. Says that Riaz is an experienced player and Afridi is also slowly becoming one.

Chamu Chibhabha, Zimbabwe's captain, says that the Pakistani bowlers put them under pressure towards the end and deserve credit for the same. States that Zimbabwe's bowlers bowled well, especially to the Pakistani openers. Admits honestly though that after a good start with the ball, they allowed it to slip away in the end. Praises Wesley Madhevere for his good knock. States that they need to keep such a momentum going forward as well.

Brendan Taylor is the MAN OF THE MATCH, 110 runs from 117 balls. Says that the plan was to try and bat well throughout. Adds that the Pakistani bowling was really good. On Wesley's knock, Brendan agrees it was a very good knock from Madhevere. States that Wesley was enjoying himself out in the middle. Adds that the pace slowed down later and that the Zimbabwe batters had to put more effort. Given the tough bowling prowess of Pakistan, it was imperative for Zimbabwe to bat well, he says.

Please stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first. They started off on a sluggish note, lost wickets in the middle but picked up fairly well in the end to get to 281/8. One would wonder that was not enough given their batting prowess but their bowlers proved that notion wrong. They struck early and struck back again to dismiss Madhevere and Taylor and then seal the deal in the hosts' favour.

Pakistan's bowlers were splendid with the ball. They more than made up for their batsmen's shortcomings. This wicket had everything for the pacers and that was proven right by the Pakistani pacers. Afridi and Riaz, 9 wickets amongst them, the former picked up 5 and the latter 4. Besides that, they kept a tight noose on the scoring rate as well. Apart from them, Wasim bowled decently and got a wicket. Rauf and Ashraf were a touch expensive and unfortunately, could not manage anything in this game.

Chasing 282 for a win, Zimbabwe got off to a shaky start as they lost a wicket in just the 3rd ball of the chase. They lost another shortly but that did not dampen their scoring rate, which was going decently well. But it slowed down in the middle again and the required rate started picking up. Ervine and Williams fell later on. But Taylor and Madhevere stitched an excellent partnership of 119 to put Zimbabwe in close contention. But they both fell in quick succession and after that it was all downhill for Zimbabwe as the rest crumbled like shortbread, handing Pakistan a 26 run win in the end.

Wahab Riaz and Shaheen Afridi share 9 wickets between them and blow away Zimbabwe. What a valiant effort from the latter. Congratulations all around in the Pakistan dressing room. But there is a lot for Zimbabwe to take from this game as well.

49.4

Who will walk out to bat now? Tendai Chisoro it is, at No. 8.

46.5

OUT! TAKEN! Taylor falls. A massive, massive moment in the game. The asking rate was getting big and Taylor had to go. A full ball just outside off, Taylor looks to launch it over the off side but the ball hits the toe end and balloons towards mid off. Wahab there settles under it and takes it easily. A top knock from Taylor comes to an end. He would've loved to take the team home but has perished. 42 needed in 19 balls.

45.1

Good length and around off, Madhevere looks to pull but mistimes it back to the bowler.

Wahab Riaz is back to bowl as Haris Rauf has completed his quota of overs. 7-0-32-1 for Riaz. Can he get these two here?

44.6

Dot! Short and around off, Taylor goes hard for the pull but the ball hits the upper half and goes back to the bowler. 48 needed in 30 balls. 234/4

44.4

FOUR! WOW! What a shot that is from Taylor. This is extra-ordinary batting from him. 44.1

Full and on middle, it is flicked towards mid-wicket.

Imad Wasim is done with his 10 overs. Shaheen Afridi is back. 7-0-26-2 for him. Can he add to that impressive numbers? Especially in the last column?

43.6

CENTURY FOR TAYLOR! What a sensational innings this has been from the experienced man. His first against Pakistan and 11th in his ODI career. What a player. Good length ball around off, he pushes it towards point. Wesley thinks for the single but Taylor sends him back. The point fielder fires the throw at the non-striker's end but misses. Flatter and on middle, worked towards mid-wicket for one.

42.3

Full and outside off, forced to sweeper cover for one.

42.2

FOUR! There's the one boundary that needs. Poor delivery form Imad. It is full and down the leg side. Wesley sweeps it hard through square leg and gets the boundary. He gets to a well-made 50 and the partnership between these two is also worh a 100 runs now.

42.1

37.1

NOT OUT! No spike as the ball goes past the bat. Short and wide outside off, Madhevere gives it a charge and looks to slam it on the leg side but misses. An appeal but it is turned down. Pakistan opt for the review but to no avail as there is no spike on Ultra Edge.

Review time! Pakistan take a review as they had appealed for a caught behind, which was turned down by the on-field umpire. Has he nicked it? Ultra Edge is in.... FLAT LINE! Pakistan lose the review!

Haris Rauf is back to bowl. 6-1-38-0 for him. Can he get the big fish, Brendan Taylor?

DRINKS! Zimbabwe need 121 runs in 96 balls. The required rate is 7.5, it was well under control earlier but now, it has started to climb upwards primarily due to the loss of wickets. But then, Taylor is there in the middle, at 71 and Madhevere is well set too. The former being an experienced international cricketer, would have seen many such situations previously and it is time for him to get those learnings here to guide his side safely home, without any hiccups. Can he? Let's find out after the break...

18.5

On off, it is blocked.

18.4

Shortish and around off, pushed towards mid off.

18.3

Short and wide outside off, stroked to deep cover for one.

18.1

Length ball around off, pushed towards mid on for nothing.

Haris Rauf is back to bowl. 3-0-30-0 for him so far. Vastly expensive. Somebody tell him this is not a T20. It is expensive even by a T20 standard.

DRINKS! Zimbabwe are 81/2 at the end of 16 overs. They need 201 runs in 204 balls. Their start and play has been much better compared to Pakistan, as Taylor and Ervine are finding the boundaries fearlessly, despite the loss of 2 wickets early on. Now, they are looking a bit more dangerous as they have started to stroke more freely. But that presents an opportunity to Pakistan as well. Will they be able to cash in on that? Let's find out after the drinks break...

4.3

NOT OUT! Umpire's call on hitting the wickets. Chibhabha survives. Shortish ball around mdiddle, Chibhabha looks to work it on the leg side but misses to get hit on the pads. A loud, loud appeal from the bowler but it is turned down. Babar has a word with the bowler and the keeper and then he takes it upstairs. Replays roll in. No bat involved. But umpire's call on hitting the wickets. The onfield call stays. Good review from Pakistan though.

Review time! Pakistan have opted a review for the LBW decision that went against them. What does technology have to say? No spike on the Ultra Edge. That is clear then. In comes Ball Tracker and... UMPIRE'S CALL!

0.5

OUT! TIMBER! Shaheen Afridi strikes with the new ball. Chari's stay at the crease is very shortlived. Full and swinging in to middle, Chari looks to have a poke at it but misses due to the swing and the stumps behind are shattered.

0.2

Chari and Zimbabwe are underway then, with a couple. Very full on middle and leg, flicked to deep square leg for a couple.

We are all set for the chase to begin then! 282 is the target for Zimbabwe. The Pakistani players are in a huddle near the ropes as the umpires make their way out to the middle. Starts off in the channel outside off, left alone by the batsman.
