  • Pakistan were brilliant with the ball. Mohammad Amir spearheaded them with a 3-wicket haul while Imad Wasim also left his impact. The others were decent as well barring Usman Shinwari who went for aplenty. The pitch has some spin to offer and if Sri Lanka manage to get some early wickets, it's game on. Do join us in a short while for the run chase.
  • After opting to bat, Sri Lanka started sensibly but then lost wickets in a flurry. Oshada Fernando then steadied the ship somewhat through a little stand with Angelo Perera and then finally came a partnership of substance between Fernando and Dasun Shanaka. That put the Lankan innings on the right path but they failed to finish it on a high. Just 13 runs came in the last two overs.
  • Let's begin with an interesting observation by one of our scorers - All the wickets have fallen on the last ball of the over. Sharp one! Let's summarize this first half. In one sentence - A clumsy Pakistan have managed to restrict Sri Lanka under 150. Top effort by their bowlers and had their fielders supported aptly, the final total would have been a lot lesser.
  • 19.6 OUT! Run out! Shinwari nails his yorker this time. It's around off and Fernando just manages to dig it out. They attempt for a quick run and the bowler attacks the ball. He picks up the ball, breaks the stumps and finds Hasaranga short. The third umpire finds the same in the replays. SRI LANKA END ON 147/7!
  • 19.5 Good delivery by Usman on this occasion. Follows the batsman down the leg side with a very full ball. Wanindu drills it down to long on for one.
  • 19.4 Once again fails to nail the yorker and it's a low full toss on middle and leg. Oshada fails to get underneath it and whips it to deep mid-wicket for just a run, in spite of the misfield.
  • 19.3 Shinwari looks for a yorker but serves a full toss instead. It's pumped down to long off for a single.
  • 19.2 Fires in a very full ball on middle, Wanindu flicks it across the line but finds square leg. DOT!
  • 19.1 FOUR! Up and over mid off. Good start to the last over for Sri Lanka. Back of a length ball around off, Hasaranga stays back and chips it over the infield for a boundary.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga is in now! Usman Shinwari to bowl the final over of the innings.
  • 18.6 OUT! CAUGHT! Madushanka perishes in trying to up the ante! Full delivery outside off, Madushanka looks to loft it over the mid off fielder but is not able to clear him. Iftikhar runs in from mid off and takes an excellent sliding catch. Third wicket for Mohammad Amir in this innings. He finishes with, 4-0-27-3! 140/6
  • 18.5 Full delivery on middle, Madushanka drives this straight but Amir puts his foot in between and stops the ball. He seems to have stepped on the ball. Excellent footwork from Mohammad Amir. They are changing the ball.
  • 18.4 Short ball on middle, Fernando looks to pull but does not time it well and it goes towards deep mid-wicket. The batters take single. They think of a couple but it is not there.
  • 18.3 BEATEN! Much better from Amir! Yorker length outside off, Oshada looks to keep it out but does not get anything on it.
  • 18.2 FOUR! Very well played from Oshada! Full delivery outside off, Oshada plays a paddle sweep over the fine leg fielder for a boundary. He has played a blinder of an innings here.
  • 18.1 Good length delivery on middle, Lahiru defends it towards the cover region and takes a single.
  • Lahiru Madushanka is the new man in!
  • 17.6 OUT! Fantastic running catch by Fakhar Zaman to put Shanaka out of his misery. He never got going but nonetheless was involved in a handy 76-run stand with Oshada Fernando. A timely breakthrough for Pakistan. Wahab angles across a back of a length delivery outside off, Shanaka makes room and slams it aerially over cover-point. Fakhar charges from the deep and dives low to grab the catch inches over the surface. Finally a wicket to Wahab's name on the last ball of his spell. A few catches went down off his bowling. 134/5
  • 17.5 Beaten! Good length delivery following the batsman outside off, Shanaka tries playing the paddle scoop but misses. Wahab quickly gets to the ball and Oshada speeds back to his end.
  • 17.5 Wide! Riaz loses his radar completely and slips a delivery way wide outside off.
  • 17.4 Play and a miss! Full in length and wide outside off, Dasun chases and misses as the ball also stays a bit low.
  • 17.3 Direct hit would have been curtains for Oshada. He forces a length ball to extra cover and scoots to the other end. The fielder misses his shy and that gives a life to Fernando.
  • 17.2 SIX! Crispy hit...helped on its way! Wahab's pace working against him. Fractionally short in length on middle, Oshada rotates his wrists and dispatches it over square leg for a maximum.
  • 17.1 Short in length around off, Shanaka hurries down the track and mishits his attempted shot to mid off for a run.
  • 16.6 Slower delivery outside off, Oshada does not pick it while trying to flick it and fails to put any bat on it. 125/4
  • 16.5 FOUR! Nicely played by Fernando! Short delivery on middle, Fernando pulls it towards the deep square leg region for a boundary. Fakhar Zaman runs in from deep mid-wicket and tries to stop it but it bounces off his hand and goes into the fence. Another piece of poor fielding from Pakistan.
  • 16.4 NOT OUT! NO BAT! Yorker length delivery outside off, Oshada fails to keep it out and the ball goes to the keeper who appeals for a caught behind but nothing from the umpire. Sarfaraz goes for the review and the Ultra Edge shows that the sound was off the bat hitting the ground. Pakistan lose their only review.
  • REVIEW TIME! Appeal for caught behind, given not out and Pakistan have gone for the review.
  • 16.3 SIX! Beautiful shot! Full delivery on middle, Oshada lofts this nicely over the long on fielder for a maximum! The fielder tries to catch it but is unable to stop it from going for a maximum.
  • 16.3 WIDE! Slower delivery way outside off, Fernando lets it go to the keeper.
  • 16.2 Full delivery on middle, Oshada drives this towards mid off and takes a quick single. The fielder has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. If he had hit, the batsman was well out as he had given up. The ball goes towards fine leg which allows the batsmen to take another run.
  • 16.1 Good length ball outside off, Shanaka pushes it to deep cover and crosses over for a single.
  • Mohammad Amir is back into the attack. 2-0-7-2, his numbers so far.
  • 15.6 DROPPED! Wahab cannot believe his luck. Short delivery again, Oshada tries to whip it across the line but gets a leading edge onto it. Shinwari runs across to his right from third man, overruns a bit in fact and drops it. He tries his best after that to pull the ball back in but seems to be late in doing that. It's checked upstairs and Shinwari has done well to save two runs. 111/4
  • 15.5 DROPPED! Short in length on middle, Shanaka muscles it across the line to deep square leg where Asif Ali probably loses the sight of the ball and puts down the catch to his right with an attempted dive. A bit late into it. A single is taken.
  • 15.5 Wide called for height! Wahab digs in a short ball around leg, Dasun is down on his knee before making a leave.
  • 15.4 A full toss outside off but Oshada manages only to hit it as far as the extra cover fielder. He scampers across to the other end as Haris Sohail misses his shy at the bowler's end.
  • 15.3 Play and a miss! Short and wide outside off, Fernando tries to use the pace of the bowler and ramp it down to third man but fails to connect.
  • 15.2 Shortish and outside off, Dasun goes on the back foot and punches it to sweeper cover for one.
  • 15.1 Fifty for Oshada Fernando on his T20I debut! Has batted exceptionally this evening! Back of a length ball on middle and leg, Fernando works it behind square leg for a single.
  • 14.6 Flighted ball on middle, Oshada works it towards square leg and takes a single. 104/4
  • 14.5 Short ball outside off, Shanaka camps back and pushes it towards the cover region for a single.
  • 14.4 Flighted delivery outside off, Fernando puts on his dancing shoes and drives this uppishly towards long off. Asif Ali runs in from mid off and tries to make a diving stop. He makes a half stop and the ball is rolling towards the boundary again. Asif gets up and dives again to stop the ball. The umpires go to check whether it is a boundary or not but the third umpire finds it to be a clean stop. The batters take a double in the meantime. Asif took an excellent catch previously in the match and now makes an excellent stop.
  • 14.3 Flat delivery on middle, Fernando flicks it towards the leg side for a single. 100 up for Sri Lanka.
  • 14.2 EDGED AND FOUR! Tossed up ball around off, Fernando looks to drive it but gets a thick outside edge past the keeper and into the third man fence.
  • Shadab Khan into the attack for his final over.
  • 14.1 Flat delivery outside off, Shanaka pushes it towards the cover region for a single.
  • 13.6 BEATEN! Slower delivery outside the off stump line, Fernando looks to guide it but does not put any bat on it. 94/4
  • 13.6 WIDE! Good length delivery down the leg side, Fernando moves towards the off side but misses. It is wided.
  • 13.6 WIDE! Wahab bowls a bouncer way above Fernando's head and it is wided.

  • 13.3 Good length ball outside off, Dasun shoulders arms to this one. Very seldomly you see this in T20Is.
  • 13.2 On a length on middle and leg, Fernando flicks it towards square leg and crosses over for another single.
  • 13.1 Full delivery on middle, Shanaka flicks it towards the deep mid-wicket region and takes a single.
  • Wahab Riaz is back on!
  • 12.6 Turning away from the batsman, it's pushed off the front foot to point. Excellent over from Wasim as only two runs came from it. He has bowled out now, 4-0-18-1. Exceptional work. 89/4
  • 12.5 BEATEN! Flighted ball outside off, Fernando looks to guide it but fails to put any bat on it. It's bowled slower through the air which might have made the batsman miss it. Sarfaraz struggles to gather the ball.
  • 12.4 Full delivery on middle, Shanaka flicks it towards the mid-wicket region for a single. They wanted a couple but it is not there.
  • 12.3 Short ball on middle, Shanaka defends it off the back foot.

  • 12.1 Flat delivery on middle and leg, Oshada flicks it towards deep mid-wicket and takes a single.
  • 11.6 Presses forward to a full ball and blocks it back. 11 from the over. 87/4
  • 11.5 Flatter and fuller on off, stroked through covers for one.
  • 11.4 FOUR! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant from Oshada! He is oozing with confidence. Fancy footwork by him to get to the pitch of the ball and then he lofts it over extra cover. Gorgeous.
  • 11.3 Gets down on one knee for the paddle sweep but finds the short fine leg fielder.
  • 11.2 Fullish and off, driven down to wide long off for a couple.
  • 11.1 FOUR! Pure timing. Flighted delivery landing full outside off, Fernando leans into the drive and drives it a bit uppishly but in the gap at extra cover.
  • Shadab Khan (2-0-11-0) is back on.
  • 10.6 Full delivery on middle, Dasun defends it towards the bowler. 76/4
  • 10.5 Short ball on off, Fernando guides it towards short third man and crosses over for a single.
  • 10.5 STUMPING CHANCE MISSED! Flighted delivery down the leg side, Dasun comes down the track to flick but misses the ball completely. Sarfaraz fails to collect it cleanly and the ball goes behind him. His sight was probably blocked by the batsman which led to the missed stumping. Pakistan's fielding has been poor tonight and they sincerely need to improve. It's called a wide as well.
  • 10.4 Flat delivery outside off, Shanaka pushes it towards the point region.
  • 10.3 Full delivery on middle, Shanaka defends it to the bowler.
  • 10.2 Flat delivery on middle, Oshada flicks it towards square leg and takes a single.

  • 9.1 FOUR! Nicely played! Full delivery on middle, Oshada dances down the track while moving towards the leg side and lofts this over the mid off fielder for a boundary. He has looked good against the pacers so far.
  • Usman Shinwari is back into the attack!
  • 8.6 Flatter and shorter on middle, Fernando goes deep inside the crease and punches it down to long on for one. 61/4
  • 8.5 Knocks a full ball down to long on and picks up a run to open his account.

  • 8.2 Full and flighted on off, it's forced down to long off for one.
  • 8.1 Beautiful leg spinner by Shadab. He lands it close to the off stump line and gets it to curl away from the batsman. Oshada tries to play late at it but is beaten.
  • Sri Lanka captain, Dasun Shanaka is the new man in!
  • 7.6 OUT! RUN OUT! Angelo has to go here! Poor running between the wickets from the batsmen! Good length ball outside off, Perera guides this towards the backward point region and calls Fernando for a couple. In the meantime, Iftikhar runs in fast and sends in a good flat throw to Sarfaraz who does well to remove the bails. The third umpire is referred. Angelo should have dived to make it into the crease but doesn't and he has to go back. Inches short in the replays. Sri Lanka are four down now! 58/4
  • Run out appeal against Perera is taken upstairs. That looks close. It's a risky couple. Let's see if that costs Sri Lanka a wicket...

  • 7.3 RUN OUT CHANCE MISSED! On a length on off, Perera defends it off the back foot towards point and calls for a single. Shadab runs in and has a shy at the keeper's end but misses. If he had hit, Fernando would have been on his way back.

  • 6.1 Flat delivery around off, Angelo defends it towards the off side for nothing.
  • Time for some leg spin! Shadab Khan to roll his arm.
  • 5.6 Slower delivery outside off, Fernando leaves it alone. 14 runs have come from this over, 44 in the Powerplay for Sri Lanka. But worryingly they have lost three top order wickets as well. 44/3

  • 4.6 OUT! All nicely done. Asif Ali has taken a clinical catch near the fence! Rajapaksa fails to deliver this time. He attempts to heave a length ball across the line but the connection ain't proper. It has got height but not enough distance. Asif at the edge of the rope at deep square leg does well to catch the ball and keep himself inside the line. Good balancing job. Amir is delighted after foxing the batsman with a slower one, Sri Lanka are off to a bad start here. 30/3

  • Angelo Perera is the new batsman.
  • 3.6 OUT! LBW! Sadeera has to make the long walk back! Flatter delivery on off, skidding in with the arm, Sadeera looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. Imad and the rest of the team appeal and the umpire immediately gives it out. Samarawickrama does not even wait to consult his partner for the review and walks back to the pavilion. Pretty adjacent to the stumps. Good start from Pakistan here, they have picked up two quick wickets. 28/2
  • 3.5 DROPPED! Shadab Khan makes a mess of this catch! Flighted ball on off, Rajapaksa rocks back to smack it on the leg side but the ball goes way up in the air off the top edge. Shadab Khan comes in from mid on and settles himself under it but doesn't hold onto it. Poor fielding this as this was the catch for Babar Azam who would have found it easier to take the catch as he was standing at mid off. It pops behind them and a single is taken. Pakistan once again have been poor in the field.
  • 3.4 Flighted ball on middle, Sadeera comes down the track and flicks it nicely towards deep square leg for a single.

  • 2.5 Short ball outside off, Gunathilaka defends it out.
  • 2.4 DROPPED! Sarfaraz is the culprit! Amir bowls a good length delivery outside off, Sadeera for the third time tries to push inside the line and this time he has edged it behind to the keeper. Sarfaraz dives to his right and attempts the catch with one hand but fails to hold it. His weight was on the left foot and that's why he may have misjudged the the ball. Lucky break for Sadeera.
  • 2.3 Beaten once again! Another delivery leaving the right-hander outside off, Samarawickrama tries to run it down to third man but misses.
  • 2.2 Beaten! Much better line from Amir. He hurls across a back of a length ball outside off, leaving the batsman with the angle, Sadeera pushes inside the line and misses.

The ball skids away a shade and catches the outside portion of his bat. It flies over the cover-point region and beats Iftikhar Ahmed who was giving the chase from inside the ring. 8/0
  • 0.5 Quicker and flatter on the pads, flicked on the leg side but straight to mid-wicket.

Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka Live Score (T20) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Dasun Shanaka is handed over the trophy and his teammates surround him to pose for the cameras. Big moment for a young team. They were written off even before this T20I series kicked off and have managed to surprise one and all. That's all we have from this Sri Lankan tour of Pakistan. The touring team will fly back home as a satisfied unit whereas the hosts have got a reality check in this format. How will they respond? We will find that out soon. Until next time, it's goodbye and cheers!
  • Victorious Sri Lankan skipper, Dasun Shanaka says that it's a good victory and thanks the Pakistani crowd for supporting them as well. Mentions that all the players were bonded and terms it the key for their success. States that all his players are equally talented and their unity was the secret. Feels that if you play smart cricket, there is always a chance to win. Believes that they took good calls in the middle which helped them win the series. Thanks the PCB and the Pakistani crowd for inviting them for a series.
  • Pakistan skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed starts by saying that they recovered well with the ball and had a good partnership going as well during the chase but then they could not get the momentum after the 10 overs and that cost them the match. Rues the dropped catches and their bowling in the middle overs. On his batting spot, Sarfaraz replies that the batting position has been the same for quite a while and they wanted to try out as many players as possible before the next series. Admits that they have to work hard in all the three departments, mainly in the middle overs. Concludes by thanking the Sri Lankan team for visiting Pakistan and having a good series.
  • Man of the Match and Series, Wanindu Hasaranga! Says that this has been the best that he has bowled in his career. Further adds that he looks to take wickets with his wrong 'uns. On absorbing pressure, Wanindu replies that he tries to bowl as many dot balls as he can.
  • Sri Lanka were brilliant in the field. Unlike Pakistan, they were alert and the intensity was top notch. Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara bowled with a lot of fire and mixed their variations smartly. Wanindu Hasaranga once again stood out and finished with a 3-wicket haul, truly a find for the Islanders. They judged the nature of the pitch and bowled accordingly and it reflects their refreshed mindset as a unit.
  • Right at the beginning of the run chase, Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman on the first ball. After that Haris Sohail and Babar Azam constructed a partnership but it was on the slower side. That didn't take care of the required rate. Babar was rusty in his innings while Haris also slowed down after a promising start. Sri Lanka should be commended for the way they kept their patience when the partnership was developing. All their bowlers stuck to the task and varied their pace judiciously. Eventually, the 76-run stand was broken and the Pakistani chase got derailed. The batsmen who followed never got going and found it tough to time their shots on a pitch which was holding up.
