  • A lot is at stake here and the Pakistan batters have done their job. Runs on the board and in a pressure game you have to favor the side bowling second, especially with the attack they have. New Zealand batters on the other hand, will have to bat out of their skins on a wicket which is a touch slow. Who will take the series? Join us to find out.
  • The Kiwi bowlers were not at their very best. They were too straight at the start and later on were a little too short. Sodhi especially, the wicket offered him a lot but he could not find the right line. Trent Boult had a day to forget as he went for a plenty. Had it not been for Lockie Ferguson, who was brilliant, New Zealand might have been chasing something above 300. He was the standout with a fifer.
  • So a good comeback in the last 10 overs has seen New Zealand restrict Pakistan to below 300 but let me tell you, this target for New Zealand is going to be a very tough one. Pakistan elected to bat after winning the toss and their batters have justified the decision. Three of their batters scored a half ton with Azam being the top scorer as he fell just short of a ton. Also, there were quite a few partnership throughout. The 106-run stand though between Sohail and Azam set the platform. However, they could not capitalize on it due to some exceptional bowling at the death.
  • 49.6 OUT! CAUGHT! Could not have asked for a better finish! A wicket on the last ball and Ferguson gets his fifth. It is the short ball which does the trick this time. Ali goes for the pull but gets a top edge towards Worker at deep square leg. He runs in and takes a good catch. Third wicket in the over and only 4 from the last. PAKISTAN FINISH WITH 279!
  • 49.5 Slower bumper now, it is pulled through mid-wicket for a single. Has been a good last over till now, can they end it well?
  • 49.4 OUT! BOWLED 'EM! This though was not what Pakistan wanted. Ferguson gets his second in the over and his 4th of the game. On the stumps again and on a fuller length. The batsman swings but misses to see the furniture behind get disturbed.
  • 49.3 Short again, the pull shot is not connected. A bye is taken. Asif ALi on strike, this is what Pakistan would want.
  • 49.2 A short ball and it is the slower one. Ali mistimes his pull towards mid-wicket for a couple.
  • Hasan Ali walks out to the middle.
  • 49.1 OUT! TIMBER! You hit, I miss! Full and on off, Ashraf swings and misses to see his stumps get shattered. A wicket to start the last, New Zealand would want to end well here.
  • 48.6 SIX! Take that! Ideal end to the over for Pakistan. Full and on the pads, Ali flicks it nonchalantly over the square leg fence. The last two balls spoils the whole over. 10 from the last two and 13 from it. Also a wicket. 275/5
  • 48.5 THEY HAVE RUN 5! Well, no matter if you are set or not, you would put such balls away 9 out of 10 times. A full toss on the pads, Ashraf flicks it towards deep square leg. The batsmen run two. Latham then fails to collect the throw and another overthrow results. That is not the end. A poor throw at the other end sees them take two extra runs. All these are bonus runs here.
  • Faheem Ashraf is the new man in.
  • 48.4 OUT! Azam departs in the 90s. The pressure of not hitting the boundaries has gotten to him. The slower ball on middle, Azam brings out the heave but only gets height and not the distance. Nicholls at deep mid-wicket, judges it well and takes it. End of another top knock from Azam though. He will be disappointed of not getting a ton but he has surely done the job. However, there are two new batsmen at the crease for Pakistan and New Zealand will be happy about that.
  • 48.3 Once again Pakistan have to be content with a single as Ali jams this yorker out towards covers.
  • 48.2 A high full toss outside off, Ali swings but misses it completely. That was probably one loose delivery from the Kiwi bowlers in the last few overs. It still does not go to the fence.
  • 48.1 A yorker outside off, Babar gets it off the inner half towards square leg for a run. This is brilliant bowling.
  • 47.6 And it stays that way! A yorker to end it. Azam jams it out beside the pitch and a run is taken. 262/4
  • 47.5 On the shorter side, Ali pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a run. This is turning out to be another good over for New Zealand.
  • 47.4 Very full and at a good pace. Not a lot you can do with this ball, it is driven down to long on for a run.
  • 47.3 Back of a length on off, Azam punches it through covers for a couple. Good running.
  • 47.2 A single and a dot to begin this over. Full and outside off, Azam goes for the drive but is beaten.
  • 47.1 On the shorter side, it is pulled through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 46.6 Full and on off, it is driven through covers for another single. Another good over for New Zealand, 6 runs and a wicket from it. 255/4
  • 46.5 The batsman has played it to the point region. They manage to come back for the second.
  • 46.4 Good length again on off, Ali guides it down to third man for another run.
  • 46.3 Back of a length on off, Azam guides it through point. A run taken.
  • Asif Ali comes out to bat.
  • 46.2 OUT! In the air... taken! Henry gets Malik on the next ball. He could have so easily been on a hat-trick. A full ball outside off, Malik tries to go over covers. Ends up slicing it over cover-point. Worker in the deep runs to his left and makes no mistake this time.
  • 46.1 DROPPED! This is so unlike New Zealand. This was a simple chance. Short and on middle, Azam pulls it right off the middle. However, he does not get the desired elevation. Worker at deep mid-wicket, moves to his right, gets two hands to it but drops it. He though shows good awareness as he manages to pull the ball back in before it crosses the ropes. A single taken by the batsmen. This could prove pretty costly as Azam is really striking the ball well here.
  • 45.6 Another single to end the over! Full and on off, it is driven down to long off for a run. Another good over by Boult. 249/3
  • 45.5 A yorker outside off, it is hit through covers for a run.
  • 45.4 A yorker on middle, Malik works it through square leg. They run the first one hard, sense the opportunity for the second, go for it and complete it.
  • 45.3 On the shorter side, it is pulled through mid-wicket for a couple.
  • 45.2 Shuffles across and tries to swing but gets it off the inner half towards square leg. A run taken.
  • 45.1 A full toss to begin with but Malik does not time it properly. It goes towards mid off for a run.
  • 44.6 A dot to end but a good one for Pakistan! 11 from it. A yorker outside off, Azam fails to put bat on it. 241/3
  • 44.6 Wide! Way too outside off, left alone.
  • 44.5 Very full and outside off, Malik somehow gets his bat to it. It is over point and a run is taken.
  • 44.4 Slower bouncer, sticks into the surface. Azam pulls it through backward square leg. The batsmen run one, Azam wants the second but is sent back.
  • 44.3 A full toss on off, Malik drives it through covers. A run is taken.
  • 44.2 Tries to go over covers now but ends up slicing it over point for a single. 7 from the first two balls, pressure on the bowler now to make a comeback here.
  • 44.1 SIX! Welcome into the attack, says Babar. Magnificent. Full and on off, Azam clears his front leg and then lofts it with a very straight bat over the long off fence.
  • Matt Henry to bowl now.
  • 43.6 A dot to end! Fires in a yorker and it is kept out. Very good over by Boult. 230/3
  • 43.5 Full again on off, Malik drives it through covers for a couple as it was slightly away from the sweeper.
  • 43.4 Very full and outside off, Azam jams it down to third man for a run.
  • 43.3 Bringing all his variation into play. It is the slower ball on off, the batsman pushes it to covers.
  • 43.2 A short ball to follow the full one. It is pulled through mid-wicket. A run taken.
  • 43.1 Full and on middle, it is clipped to mid-wicket.
  • 42.6 A bumper to end! On the body. Malik tries to pull but it goes off the under edge towards the keeper. 10 from this over, this is the kind of overs Pakistan will want ahead. 225/3
  • 42.5 On the shorter side outside off, it is guided past point for a couple. This is turning out to be an expensive over.
  • 42.4 Short again, Azam may have expected it. He pulls it through mid-wicket and takes a run.
  • 42.3 How late was that! Waits for the ball to arrive, it is bowled close to the off pole. Azam guides it down to third man for a couple.
  • 42.2 FOUR! Picked his spot well there! Ferguson goes full and it is on the stumps, Azam knows there is no one in the deep at the mid-wicket region. So all he has to do is go over the fielder at mid-wicket. Does so and bags a boundary.
  • 42.1 Short of a length outside off, Malik plays it through point for a single.
  • 41.6 This is flatter and on middle, it is worked through mid-wicket for another two. 215/3
  • 41.5 Another short ball outside off, Azam pulls it in between mid-wicket and long on. A couple.
  • 41.4 Very short again! Malik goes back and pulls it but straight to the man at deep square leg. A run.
  • 41.3 This is floated on off, Malik drives it to covers.
  • 41.2 On the shorter side, Malik goes back and guides it through point. A couple taken.
  • 41.1 Gives it some nice air and lands it on off, Malik lunges and keeps it out.
  • Ish Sodhi is back on.
  • 40.6 Off the mark is Malik of his very first ball. It is on his pads, it is clipped down to fine leg. A run is taken. A good over for New Zealand. 208/3
  • 40.5 Guides this one down to third man for a run.
  • 40.4 Shortish and outside off, Azam tries to cut it but misses.
  • Shoaib Malik walks out to the middle.
  • 40.3 OUT! The 108-run stand has been broken! Ferguson is the man who gets the wicket. Not the best of deliveries though. It is on the pads, Haris flicks it uppishly towards Worker at deep square leg. He runs in and takes a very good catch, inches above the ground. A good innings by Sohail comes to an end. His partnership with Azam has laid an excellent foundation for the batsman to come.
  • 40.3 Down the leg side and another wide.
  • 40.2 Full and wide outside off, Azam tries to go over the cover fielder but gets an outside edge down to third man. A run taken.
  • 40.1 Slower ball outside off, it is very slow. Azam fails to put bat on ball.
  • Powerplay 3 has been signaled! Now 5 fielders can be placed outside the ring.
  • 39.6 A yorker outside off, it is jammed out to point. 13 from Boult's first over of his new spell. Again an expensive start for him. 204/2
  • 39.5 SIX! Stand and deliver! Pakistan now on the attack here. This is a length ball by Boult on middle, Haris clears his front leg and hits it over cow corner for a biggie.
  • 39.4 The batsman has driven it through mid off. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 39.3 FOUR! Delightful! On the fuller length, Azam with a straight bat times it down the ground. You need not run for those.
  • 39.2 From around the wicket, this is slanted closer to the off stump. Azam goes for a drive but is beaten.
  • 39.1 Fifty up for Pakistan's run machine. His 9th in this format. Once again he has played the role of an anchor, he though needs to stay till the end if Pakistan want to get close to 300. This is slightly short and outside off, Azam cuts it through point and a brace is taken.
  • Trent Boult is back on.
  • 38.6 A dot to end! This is defended towards covers. 191/2
  • 38.6 Down the leg side, the batsman misses the flick and it has been wided.
  • 38.5 A bumper now and it has been ducked under.
  • 38.4 Shortish and outside off, Azam slaps it through covers and takes a single.
  • 38.3 Back of a length on off, Azam punches it to covers.
  • 38.2 Fullish and on middle, it is driven back to the bowler.
  • 38.1 On middle, Sohail works it through mid-wicket. A single taken.
  • 37.6 The googly on off, Sohail pushes it through covers for a run. 188/2
  • 37.5 The batsman fails to get bat on that one and is hit on the pad.
  • 37.4 Azam punches it with the turn through covers for a single.
  • 37.3 Uses his feet now and tries to go over long on. Does not get the timing and it goes down to long on for a run.
  • 37.2 DROPPED AND SIX! A half-chance you can say! It is a half-tracker on middle, it is begging to be hit and Sohail does exactly that. He pulls it with power towards deep mid-wicket. Grandhomme there leaps and gets a hand to it but the ball does not stick and goes over the ropes. That also brings up the fifty for Sohail. In a slightly fortunate manner but he won't mind. A good comeback game for him. He has also brought it up at a good pace, he would hope to continue though. It is short and on
  • 37.1 Gives it a nice loop and lands it on off, the batsman defends it.
  • 36.6 A brilliant effort in the field there! It is short and wide outside off, Azam cuts it towards point. HN there dives full stretch to his left and makes a half-stop. Saved at least a couple for his side there. 179/2
  • 36.5 Full and on off, Azam strokes it to point. The fielder there scores a direct hit at the striker's end but the batter is well in.
  • 36.4 On the shorter side outside off, Sohail guides it down to third man for a run.
  • 36.3 Well kept! This is down the leg side, Sohail tries to flick but fails to do so. The ball brushes the pads and goes to the left of Latham. He dives and makes a good stop.
  • 36.2 On the shorter side, Sohail stands tall and defends it onto the ground.
  • 36.1 Starts off with a slower one outside off, it is slapped through covers for a run.
  • Lockie Ferguson is back on.
  • Drinks!
  • 35.6 Again bowls it short, Sohail fails to put it away as he pulls it towards short fine leg. 175/2
  • 35.5 Dances down the track but does not get to the length. The ball is worked towards mid-wicket.
  • 35.4 Loopy ball outside off, turning back in. Sohail defends it out. This is what he should be bowling to the left-hander.
  • 35.3 Floats it up around off, Azam strokes it through covers for a single.
  • 35.2 A little too short, that is exactly how Sodhi has bowled today. Sohail easily works it around the corner and a run is taken.
  • 35.1 Once again good amount of turn there! This is floated up around middle and off, pitches and goes away. Azam tries to drive it straight down the ground but gets an outside edge towards short third man for a run.
  • 34.6 Another ball on the shorter side, Sohail hops and plays it down onto the ground. Two dots to end. 172/2
  • 34.5 Good length on off, Sohail guides it to point.
  • 34.4 Now follows the boundary up with a single as this is worked around the corner.
  • 34.3 FOUR! Very smart! A yorker outside off, not a lot you can do with it but Azam jams it out with an open face of the bat and the ball races down to the third man fence.
  • 34.2 Good length on off, Haris guides it to third man for a single.
  • 34.1 On the shorter side, it is slapped through covers for a run.
  • 33.6 Slightly shorter in length again, Sohail works it around the corner for a run. 165/2
  • 33.5 The batsman has played it to the point region. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 33.4 Good bowling and good fielding! This is floated up on off, Azam strokes it towards covers. The fielder there dives to his right and saves a run.
  • 33.3 On the shorter side, so the turn does not matter. Azam goes back and pulls it over mid-wicket. A couple taken.
  • 33.2 Flighted ball on middle, Azam tries to work it on the leg side but the ball turns away, takes a soft leading edge towards covers.
  • 33.1 Turn there! However, more than the Pakistan batters, it will be the New Zealand batsmen who will be worried after watching the ball turn that way. The wicket would probably worsen. This is tossed up on off, the ball pitches and turns away. It is slow turn however and Azam has enough time to adjust and keep it out.
  • 32.6 That ball has taken the inside edge of the batsman and thudded into his pads. The batsmen have run through for a single as the ball is away from the fielder. 162/2
  • 32.5 Another bouncer! Too high for anyone. Azam leaves it alone and Henry is given the warning.
  • 32.4 Bouncer! Azam ducks under the bouncer at the last moment.
  • 32.3 Haris guides it to third man. They pick up a single.

  • 31.6 Driven through mid on by the batsman. They pick up a single. 159/2
  • 31.5 Azam plays the square cut straight to the fielder.

  • 30.6 Outside off, cut past point. A single to end the over. 154/2
  • 30.5 Some chin music for Babar, he lets that bouncer through to the wicket-keeper.
  • 30.4 Played to the point region by HS. They pick up a single.
  • 30.3 Short ball on off, pulled through mid-wicket and rotates strike.
  • 30.2 Deft. Similar ball again, Sohail plays it late to third man and changes ends.
  • 30.1 Short ball outside off, Sohail sways away from it. Good leave.
  • Matt Henry in for a burst.
  • 29.6 Haris has pushed it to the cover region. One run added to the total. 150/2

  • 28.4 Pitches it up on middle and leg, Sohail on-drives it towards mid on.

  • 28.2 Full on leg, Azam works it through square leg and takes a run.
  • 28.1 Sohail guides it to third man. The batsmen have run through for a single.

  • 27.5 Punched off the back foot by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 27.4 Sohail has punched the ball off the back foot.
  • 27.4 NOT OUT! Wide given. Down leg, Sohail looks to work it to the on side but misses the ball. Latham takes off the bails and puts in an appeal. The umpire takes it up and replay shows that he got his foot back in time.
  • A stumping appeal is taken up. Look's safe.
  • 27.3 Back of a length ball on off, pushed to long on for another run.

  • Trent Boult in for another spell.
  • 25.6 FOUR! Full toss and it gets the treatment it deserves. It is picked over the mid-wicket fielder. It is in the gap and a boundary results. Spoils what was a good over till then. So runs are still coming at a good rate despite the loss of Zaman's wicket. 121/2
  • 25.5 Floats it up on off, Azam times it to long off for a single.
  • 25.4 The googly on off, Azam picks it and with the turn works it to mid-wicket.
  • 25.3 Flatter and on off, Azam guides it to point.

  • 23.4 Cleverly plays it with the turn through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 23.3 FOUR! Excellent use of the feet! He dances down the track, gets to the pitch of it and times it through extra cover. The ball races away. Gets off the mark with a very confident looking stroke.

  • 23.1 On the shorter side, it is worked around the corner for a single.
  • 22.6 Fullish and on off, Sohail strokes it to covers. Two runs and a wicket from this over. Excellent stuff. 98/2

  • 22.4 Bowls it on off, HS keeps it out.
  • Haris Sohail is the new man in.
  • 22.3 OUT! Zaman holes out! He has thrown it away! Zaman was playing so good till now. He dances down the track and tries to go downtown. Ends up mistiming it up in the air towards long on. Henry there settles under it and takes an easy catch. A much-needed wicket and a big one as Zaman looked set for a huge innings. Lockie pats him on the back, as a bit of a comfort. The umpires though, get together and then refer it upstairs. Replays shows that the right leg just went a bit too far into the crease. Bonus wicket for New Zealand. 64/1

  • 7.2 Good length on off, the batsman lunges and blocks it out.
  • 7.1 Good delivery! Not very short and just outside off, slanting away with the angle. Hafeez tries to play it through the point region but the ball was too close to do so. Whizzes past the outside edge.

  • 6.5 On the shorter side, Zaman defends it onto the ground.

  • TOSS - Pakistan win the toss and will bat.
  • Hello and welcome to the third and final ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand. Pakistan would be looking to win the series. They made a great comeback in the last match restricting the visitors to a very paltry score in the last match. Their openers did the job and they will be hoping for more of the same tonight. On the other hand, New Zealand will hope their batting clicks tonight. Ross Taylor has been in great form but they would want others to step up especially, Williamson. Pakistan will be missing the absence of Imam-ul-Haq who got retired hurt in the last match while batting. Should be a cracker of a decider. Stay tuned for the toss and team news.

  • So that is it from this game! 56.5 overs is what we witnessed. A sad end to what was a good series. However, both the sides now turn their attention to the longest format as they head into a three-match Test series. The first one begins on the 16th of November in Abu Dhabi at 1000 local (0600 GMT). Till then, goodbye and take care!

  • Around 7 overs is what we managed in the second innings. New Zealand lost Munro early to Afridi but then Nicholls and Worker did try and steady the ship. They were going well before the rain arrived. Earlier in the day, a solid batting performance saw Pakistan post a total which was above par. Babar Azam was their star with a 92 but he was well supported by Haris Sohail and Zaman. They looked like they would get a lot more but Ferguson's fifer, kept them under 300. Stay tuned for a while.
  • Bad news folks! The inevitable has happened, the game has been CALLED OFF. Yes, you read it right, a game being called off due to rain in the UAE. There was a chat between the umpires and the skippers and that was that. Customary handshakes taking place at the moment. The series ends 1-1.

  • 0.5 Shortish to Nicholls, it is pulled to square leg.
  • Henry Nicholls is the new man in.
  • 0.4 OUT! KABOOM! There goes Colin Munro and it is Shaheen Afridi who gets him out once again. What a delivery this is. He lands it on a length and around off, jags back in after pitching. Munro tries to drive but the ball sneaks through the gap between bat and pad and hits the top of middle. Munro walks back cheaply. Body blow for the Kiwis. They needed Munro to step up especially in the absence of Williamson. Pakistan are ecstatic as they know this is a huge wicket. Ideal start for them.
