  • Now, the game can still go either way. 240 isn't a farfetched target, but Pakistan haven't exactly been firing with the bat. Conversely, Bangladesh don't have Shakib on this turning wicket. So, all the ingredients at hand make it a potentially good run chase. Join us on the other side of the break for all the action.
  • Junaid Khan, who is up for an interview, starts by thanking the almighty. Admits there was pressure on him as it was a virtual semi-final but it all went well. Ends by saying he used the bouncer as a surprise delivery and it worked well for him.
  • Pakistan were rather lacklustre in the middle overs, especially surprising given their powerful start with the ball. Junaid Khan was the standout performer as he finished with 4/19, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali picked two each and Shadab Khan bagged 1 for himself. Plenty of things were wrong, particularly the captaincy, as Sarfraz's body language seemed off and he looked frustrated throughout, which was impacting his bowlers.
  • Pretty even as things stands to be honest. 250 is a winning score here and Bangladesh have managed to trudge close to it at least. Pakistan started off well picking early wickets and reduced the Tigers to 12/3, but once again it was Rahim (who narrowly missed out on a ton) and Mithun (who scored a fifty) to the rescue again. Their 144-run stand brought things back in their side's favour and it looked like Bangladesh would post a big one on the board. However, wickets falling at regular intervals and the inability of the lower middle order to capitalize results in Bangladesh ending just under 240.
  • 48.5 OUT! BANGLADESH HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 239! A good comeback in the death from Pakistan. Slower one again, Mortaza swings and miscues it as he doesn't judge it right. It skies towards Zaman at long on who settles under the ball and takes a safe catch.
  • Mustafizur Rahman is the last man in.
  • 48.4 OUT! Run out! The overs are finishing up, so the batsmen decided to take the risk. Didn't pay off on this occasion though. Rubel pushes this to the left of the bowler and both take off. Hasan Ali collects the ball, turns and has so much time to run back that he easily gets to the stumps and takes the bails off. They cross over so Rubel is the one who departs.
  • 48.3 Punches this off the back foot on the off side for a single.
  • 48.2 SIX! That's outta here! First maximum of the game and it's come off Mashrafe Mortaza's bat. The boundaries are big here but he's still managed to clear it. The off cutter on off, Mortaza backs away and gives everything he has on it. Gets it right off the meat and just about clears wide long on.
  • 48.1 Short ball, the pull is mistimed on the leg side.
  • 47.6 That ball has struck the batsman on the thigh pad. They pick up a single. The umpire signals leg bye. 232/8
  • 47.5 Full on the stumps, driven through mid on. Single collected.
  • 47.4 Length ball from Junaid, Rubel keeps it out from within the crease.
  • Rubel Hossain next in for Bangladesh.
  • 47.3 OUT! Bowled 'em! Junaid with another wicket. Started well and now finishing strong. Comes charging in and angles in a fuller delivery on off, Mahmudullah swings across the line and the ball skids right through. Takes the off stump for a walk and brings an end to the dangerous Mahmudullah's stay.
  • 47.2 Mortaza picks it off his pads and works it behind square on the leg side for one run.
  • 47.1 Mahmudullah gives the charge to this fuller length ball and drills it through towards wide long off for a single.
  • 46.6 Slower bumper, but Mahmudullah picks it up. Helps the pull through backward square leg and retains strike. 228/7
  • 46.5 Shortish in length, pulled away into the leg side for a run.
  • 46.4 Swing and a miss! Fuller in length, slower in pacer and angling down, Mortaza makes room to go big downtown but misses as the ball goes under his bat.
  • A slight halt in play as Mortaza has called for a different pair of gloves.
  • 46.3 Full outside off, Mashrafe strikes it through the gap in the covers and gets a couple of runs. Was placed wide enough of the sweeper for him to come back for the second.
  • 46.2 Bumper on middle, pulled aerially to deep square leg for another one.
  • 46.1 Targets the top of off stump with a length ball, Mortaza arches back a bit and places it behind point. Takes one run afterwards.
  • 45.6 Short ball angling in on middle, Mahmudullah initially tries taking on the pull but the bounce gets too big on him. Is beaten as a result. 222/7
  • 45.5 Mortaza opens his account with a firm push through the covers for a single.
  • 45.4 On the fuller side of things, close to off, blocked right beside the track on the off side.
  • 45.3 Fuller length delivery on the fifth stump line, pushed defensively towards cover.
  • The skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza, is the next batsman in.
  • 45.2 OUT! Straight to the man and Mehidy departs! Junaid gets his 3rd of the evening. Continues from around the wicket and keeps it full on middle and off. Hasan flicks it towards short mid-wicket but can't keep it down. Into the hands of Shan Masood (sub) who takes an easy catch. Another timely breakthrough for Pakistan.
  • 45.1 Yorker speared in on off stump, Hasan just about manages to dig it out to the right of the bowler.
  • Junaid Khan back into the attack now.
  • 44.6 Short of a good length outside off, Mehidy rises on his toes to punch it on the up but gets a bottom edge behind square on the off side. Steals a quick run. 221/6
  • 44.5 Whips this away with the angle and finds deep backward square leg. Gets off strike by jogging across.
  • 44.4 Bouncer on middle and leg, with a little swivel it's pulled along the ground to deep mid-wicket. Single to the total.
  • 44.3 Full outside off, drilled through to sweeper cover. One run collected.
  • 44.2 Beaten! Hasan with a slower one, deceives Mahmudullah who has a tame poke from inside the line.
  • 44.1 Back of a length into the ribs, worked around the corner for an easy one.
  • Hasan Ali comes back on.
  • 43.6 Full in length, outside the line of off stump, pushed through the covers for a run. 216/6
  • 43.5 Chance of a run out! Risky, but it's paid off for the batsmen. Mahmudullah punches it to Zaman at extra cover and takes off. The fielder lines it up and has a shy at the bowler's end. Misses and the batsmen complete the run without any problem.
  • 43.4 Comfortably done. Hasan waits for this one, sees it well outside off. So, he opens the face of the blade and guides it to third man to rotate strike.
  • 43.3 Takes the pace off this one and pitches it full. It's coming in and catches the batsman on the pads. A leg bye is taken as the ball rolls over on the leg side.
  • 43.2 Full delivery speared outside off, Mehidy opens the bat face and squeezes it out to third man and gets to the other end.
  • 43.1 Full toss angling in on the pads from around the wicket, flicked down to fine leg for one.
  • 42.6 Googly on middle and leg, worked just wide of short mid-wicket. A single to end the 43rd. 210/6
  • 42.5 Dropped short, and seeing this the batsman rocks back and cuts it well through point for a double.
  • 42.4 Mahmudullah has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 42.3 Straighter one on middle and leg, defended down on the leg side.
  • 42.2 This loopy full ball is worked away to mid-wicket for one run.
  • 42.1 FOUR! Short and flat outside off, Mehidy Hasan is on the back foot to cut and executes the shot well too. Places it through point and sends it across the boundary line.
  • 41.6 FOUR! That's crunched! A lot of power on that from Mahmudullah. Full and angling in on off from around the wicket, the batsman stays leg side, goes inside out and hammers it through the covers. The sweeper can't get to it, it's hit that powerfully. Super shot. The 200 comes up for the Tigers. 202/6
  • 41.5 Off the mark. Mehidy works it through mid-wicket for a single.
  • Mehidy Hasan is the new man in.
  • 41.4 OUT! Rahim misses out on a magnificent hundred. Heartbreak for the little man, he fully deserved it. Full and just outside off, it shapes away ever so late, ever so little. But, it's enough to do Rahim in. He comes forward to drive it through the covers but gets a feather behind. Sarfraz takes a regulation catch and dismisses his opposite number. A good knock though from Mushfiqur, has done a wonderful job for his side yet again, even if he would be feeling disappointed having missed out on staying till the end.
  • 41.3 Full on off driven back to the bowler.
  • 41.2 FOUR! Moves to 99 with that! Streaky runs, but he'll take it all the same. Length ball outside off, Rahim hangs his bat out and it goes through the vacant slip cordon. Sarfraz dives to his right but can't reach it. Boundary results.
  • 41.1 The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 40.6 Another top edge and it's gone away safely! Loopy leg break outside off, Mahmudullah kneels down to sweep and it goes off the top edge over the keeper. It races to the fence where Asif Ali chases it down and pulls it back inside the rope. Afridi picks it up then and throws it back in. Three runs taken. 192/5
  • 40.5 The googly on off, it spins in, Mahmudullah backs away and offers a solid punch on the off side.
  • 40.4 Flat, short and close to off, a mistimed punch off the back foot is played back to the bowler.
  • 40.3 Quicker one outside off, forced away square on the off side.
  • 40.2 Loopy and full outside off, Rahim drags the sweep through square leg for a single.
  • 40.1 Looped up delivery on middle and leg, wristed through mid-wicket for a single.
  • Powerplay 3 signalled. A maximum of 5 fielders will be allowed outside the 30-yard circle till the end of the innings.
  • 39.6 A yorker to end the over. Rahim gets his bat down in time and jams it out. 187/5
  • 39.5 This is worked to the fielder at mid-wicket who misfields and the batsmen take a run.
  • 39.4 Leading edge but results in a brace! Fuller in length on middle, this one straightens a touch, Mahmudullah tries to flick but the ball takes the leading edge, away from the fielder at point for a couple.
  • 39.3 Back of a length on off, it has been guided to point.
  • 39.2 The batsman has pushed it to the cover region. One run added to the total.
  • 39.1 Fullish on the pads, Rahim flicks it through backward square leg. He completes one, goes for the second. The fielder throws it to the keeper who catches it and whips the bails off but the batsman is well in. Sarfraz is not happy with the throw, he wanted it a little more flat.
  • Shaheen Afridi is back.
  • 38.6 Another single to end the over. He pushes this down to long on and gets to the other end. 181/5
  • 38.5 Another shortish ball outside off, it is cut through point for a run.
  • 38.4 On off, Mahmudullah guides it to point.
  • 38.3 Eases it down to long on and takes a run.
  • 38.2 In the air... but lands in no man's land! A full toss on middle, Rahim goes for the slog sweep but the ball takes the top edge. Due to the big grounds here, difficult for a mistimed shot to carry to the fielder in the deep. It lands well short of the long on fielder and the batsmen take two.
  • 38.1 Shortish again on off, Rahim mistimes his cut towards cover-point.
  • 37.6 Two dots to end as Mahmudullah guides it to the man at point. 176/5
  • 37.5 Slower through the air outside off, it drifts in. Mahmudullah goes for the cut but chops it to the keeper. That was too close for that shot to be played.
  • 37.4 Slower through the air on middle, MR flicks it towards backward square leg and moves to a total which is considered unlucky by the Aussies. The fielder there does have a shy at the non-striker's end but misses. There is a chance of an overthrow, but the batsmen do not take it.
  • 37.3 Mahmudullah does the smart thing by nudging it around the corner for a run.
  • 37.2 Flatter this time on middle, Rahim works it with the angle through mid-wicket for a run. Boundary from the first ball, now they can look for singles.
  • 37.1 FOUR! Welcome back into the attack. It is a poor ball to start with, short and it sits up to be hit. Rahim goes back quickly and pulls it over mid-wicket and the ball races away. He now is 15 short of a ton.
  • Mohammad Nawaz is back on. Spin from both ends now.
  • 36.6 Walks into the shot and eases it down to long on for a single. End of a very good over by Shadab, a wicket and 2 runs from it. 169/5
  • 36.5 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 36.4 Floats it on middle, Rahim defends it onto the ground.
  • 36.3 Tries to play the reverse sweep, connects but finds the fielder at short third man.
  • 36.2 Flatter on off, Mahmudullah guides it through point for a run.
  • Mahmudullah is the new man in.
  • 36.1 OUT! A huge appeal and it has been given! The bowling change has worked wonders as Shadab Khan has struck on the very first ball of his new spell. Two wickets in quick succession here and Bangladesh have half their side back in the hut. It is the leg spinner from the leggie around off, it pitches and turns back in a touch. Kayes tries to work it with the turn but misses. The ball hits him on the back pad. The players appeal and the umpire agrees. Kayes walks upto Rahim and has a chat but then does not review. Rightly so as that looked out and Hawk Eye confirms that. The hero of the last game walks back cheaply.
  • Shadab Khan is brought back.
  • 35.6 Back of a length on off, Rahim stands tall and defends it to point. 167/4
  • 35.5 A full toss on the pads, the batsman flicks it through square leg for a run.
  • 35.4 Another miscue but runs on offer! Kayes lofts this full ball over covers, not off the middle but hit well enough to get a brace.
  • 35.3 The indipper on middle, Rahim with the swing, works it to mid-wicket and gets to the other end. He needs to stay there till the end if Bangladesh are to get to a very good total.
  • 35.2 Played to the point region by the batsman.
  • 35.1 Around off, kept out.
  • 34.6 Rahim guides it down to third man and gets to the other end. 163/4
  • 34.5 Now shuffles across and works it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 34.4 FOUR! Just over! Kayes has come out with intent here! You give him room, he will go after it. This was on a length outside off, Kayes goes after it. Hits it uppishly but over the cover fielder for a boundary.
  • 34.3 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 34.2 Back of a length on off, Kayes pushes it to covers.
  • 34.1 Loose shot again! 2 out of the 3 balls he has faced have been poor shots. This is slightly short outside off, Kayes goes for the cut shot with no foot movement but gets beaten.
  • 33.6 Off the mark with a single. He flicks this ball towards wide mid on and takes a run. 157/4
  • 33.5 BEATEN! Almost another one! Not sure if it was a smart shot to play first up. Full and wide outside off, the sucker ball. Kayes goes after it but gets beaten.
  • Imrul Kayes is the new man in. He played an excellent innings in the last game. Something of the same is what Bangladesh would hope.
  • 33.4 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Hasan Ali has broken the 144-run stand. Relief for Pakistan, they needed this wicket and this should probably lift their body language a little now. Ali bowls it on the stumps, Mithun goes for the pull across the line and that brings about his downfall. The ball takes the top edge and goes high up in the air. Hasan calls for it and takes it. He is ecstatic, the whole of the Pakistan team is. Nevertheless, Mithun walks back after playing a very good innings. However, he would have liked to have added more. His partnership though with Rahim has laid the foundation.
  • 33.3 The batsman has pushed it to the cover region.
  • 33.2 Up and over! Not a boundary but three runs. A little too full by Hasan. Rahim flicks it over mid on. The ball slows after landing near the fence. The fielder from that position runs back and the batsmen run three.
  • 33.1 Slightly shorter in length on off, the batsman drops it towards cover for a run.
  • Hasan Ali is back on.
  • 32.6 Hits the back of a length area around off, Rahim guides it to point. 152/3
  • GOING BACK HOME!!! Well, well, well - reports are filtering in that Shakib al Hasan is returning to Dhaka. So, if Bangladesh make it to the final, they will miss him on Friday too. That finger injury is costing him and his team big time.
  • 32.5 In the air... but safe! The slower bumper on middle, Rahim goes for the pull but mistimes it. It is in the air for a while but lands well short of mid-wicket.
  • 32.4 Around off, the batsman defends it onto the ground.
  • 32.3 Very full but on the pads, Rahim flicks it through mid-wicket. He runs one, goes for the second. The throw is fired to the keeper who collects it and appeals but the batsman has made it in with ease. Lovely running that.
  • 32.2 Back of a length on off, Mithun guides it down to third man and the batsmen take a run. 150 is up and they now have a good platform set for the batters left.
  • 32.1 On the shorter side, this one hurries onto the batter. Rahim goes for the pull but the ball hits him on the glove and goes towards mid-wicket for a run.
  • 31.6 FOUR! Stand and deliver! Excellent shot! It is slightly short on off, Mithun picks the length early and pulls it over wide mid on. No one in the deep and the ball crosses the fence. Spoils a very good over. 148/3
  • 31.5 Another bouncer, Mithun ducks under it.
  • 31.4 Good length on off, the batsman is solid in defense.
  • 31.3 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 31.2 Another ball on the pads, Rahim works it down to fine leg for a run.
  • 31.1 Works it with the angle to square leg.
  • DRINKS! Bangladesh are motoring along quite well at the moment. They have two set batsmen out there and the run rate is also fine. Pakistan on the other hand, need wickets or they will be staring down a big target here. Also, the skipper seems to be losing his cool. He is getting frustrated with almost every run being scored and that is definitely not helping his bowlers. Needs to keep his cool. Bangladesh are playing well but you never know. Rahim is getting tired as well. They might lose a wicket and that might open the floodgates.
  • 30.6 A huge appeal but not given! Would have been an unfortunate dismissal had that been given. This is down the leg side, like the last 5 balls. Mithun goes for the flick but he seems to have missed it. The ball brushes the pads and goes into the mitts of the keeper. The players appeal but the umpire stays put. 143/3
  • 30.5 Another bumper on middle, this time it does not rise. Rahim hits it towards fine leg for a run.
  • 30.4 Nicely pulled! Mithun has played well off the back foot. He stands tall, swivels and pulls it all along the ground towards deep square leg for a run.
  • 30.3 Fuller again on middle, Rahim against the angle works it towards wide mid on and takes a run.
  • 30.2 On the pads again, Mithun misses the flick, the ball brushes the pads, rolls towards the leg side and the batsmen run a leg bye.
  • 30.1 Starts off with a rib-tickler, Rahim pulls it off the gloves down towards fine leg for a run.
  • Shaheen Afridi back on to bowl as well.
  • 29.6 Angling in on leg, worked behind square on the leg side defensively. Tensions are rising, much like the temperature, in the middle. There's an exchange of words between Junaid and Mithun. Nothing seems too serious though, not yet anyway. 138/3
  • 29.5 Shaping in at first and then straightening up off the surface, played back to the bowler. Junaid collects the ball and gives the batsman a big stare, Mithun responds in kind. No backing down from him.
  • 29.4 Stays inside the crease, comes maybe half-forward and defends it again, this time in front of covers.
  • 29.3 Ahead of a length, on the stumps, Mithun is half-forward as he defends it.
  • 29.2 Uses the angle into him by working it to mid-wicket. Moved inside the line and closed the face to play at that.
  • 29.1 Short ball angling in on middle and leg, Mithun is hurried onto the pull and as a result, gets a top edge. It flies to fine leg and lands safely. Two to the total.
  • Sarfraz is once again seen having a word with the umpires. He has a problem with Rahim taking constant breaks. Probably has a point too, as Mushfiqur has been doing it after every over for the past 4-5 overs.
  • 28.6 Patted away from within the crease, but it's too close to the fielder. 136/3
  • 28.5 Tap and run stuff from Mithun. Drops it down on the off side with soft hands and calls for it. His partner responds and both complete the run with ease.
  • 28.4 FOUR! 2nd ODI fifty for Mohammad Mithun! Brings it up in style too. Short ball, he rises, gets on top of the ball and pulls it with aplomb through the mid-wicket area, beating the man in the deep. Superb stuff. He'll want to carry on and score a big one.
  • 28.3 In control of this one. Pulled away through square leg for a single.
  • 28.2 Top edge and FOUR! Hasan Ali has been a bit unlucky through this innings so far. Banged short and Rahim gives the charge. Takes the pull on and it goes off the top edge over Sarfraz's head for a boundary.
  • With the whole world having a go at Sarfraz' captaincy, VVS Laxman on air has a soft corner for him. He reminds us all that cricket is a team game - not just dependent on one person. 'What is Shoaib Malik doing? What is Babar Azam doing?' He stresses further that a good team has excellent core players. The seniors need to come in with their thoughts and help their skipper with ideas and suggestions. Meanwhile, Sarfraz is not too happy with Rahim constantly taking breaks. He is getting visibly irritated. Probably, the umpires will take a call if the number of breaks increases.
  • 28.1 Back of a length on off, keeps it tight and that's how he should continue, because it's forced Rahim to block it to point. Dot ball.
  • 27.6 Another length ball and another defensive shot presented. End of the over. 126/3
  • 27.5 Good length delivery coming in, defended with a straight blade in response.
  • 27.4 Pounds it in hard, the bouncer, no shot offered by the batsman.
  • 27.3 Length ball on middle and off, it goes off the inside edge as Rahim puts bat on ball. Away on the leg side and that's a single.
  • 27.2 Shortish and angling in, Rahim moves a step across to work it on the leg side but it goes off his thigh pad and past the keeper, through his left. A couple of leg byes are taken.
  • 27.1 Starts from around the wicket and angles in a shortish ball on the body, Mithun moves inside the line and helps the pull square on the leg side for a single.
  • Finally Junaid Khan is back. He was phenomenal in his first spell. Will he be the one to break this partnership?
  • 26.6 The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads. No run taken. 122/3
  • 26.5 Length delivery on off, pushed square right at the man at point.
  • 26.4 On off, slightly shorter in length, punched behind point with an open face for a run.
  • 26.3 Brings out the short one out of nowhere but Mithun is ready for it. Keeps his eyes on the ball and ducks in time to evade it.
  • 26.2 Slightly full, outside the line of off stump, patted through the covers for one run.
  • 26.1 FOUR! Sort of deliberate. Short of a length outside off, Rahim tries to guide it down, does so but it's too fine. Off the edge and across the third man fence for a boundary.
  • Hasan Ali returns to the attack.
  • 25.6 Darts it in fuller, in line of the stumps, Mushfiqur takes a step out of the crease and wrists it down towards wide long on. Keeps going on and completes the run. 116/3
  • Rahim is seen getting some treatment from the physio. Seems like a cramp in his hammy. The Pakistan players use this opportunity to get some fluids in.
  • 25.5 Not out! Short and flat outside off, Rahim cuts it square through point and comes back for the second. The throw comes in at the keeper's end and he takes the bails off as Rahim slides his bat in. It's taken upstairs and it shows the batsman has made it in quite comfortably.
  • Run out appeal referred. Mushfiqur Rahim the man in the limelight. He looks safe though.
  • 25.4 The 100-run partnership comes up too. These two have done extremely well to take things under control. Full outside off, Rahim carves it off the outer half through point and a brace is collected.
  • 25.3 Short and flat on the stumps, pulled through the mid-wicket region. The fielder in the deep, Asif Ali, covers good ground to his left and cuts it off, keeping the batsmen to two runs.
  • 25.2 Too full outside off, drilled through to sweeper cover for a run.
  • 25.1 30th ODI fifty for Mushfiqur Rahim! Another superb knock when his team was in deep trouble. Always stands up and is counted. Terrific player. Gets to the milestone by easing it down to long on and changing ends.
  • 24.6 Gives the charge with the use of the feet and places it through the covers for two more. 8 off the over with no boundary scored. 107/3
  • 24.5 Turns it away against the spin, but finds the mid-wicket fielder on this occasion.
  • 24.4 Smacked through the mid-wicket region this time. Big gap out there, so two more taken.
  • 24.3 Some awkward bounce for the fielder. Mithun drives it to cover where the bounce lets the ball go through the fielder. Another brace collected.
  • 24.2 Some decent air on this as it lands outside off, blocked away.
  • 24.1 Loopy delivery outside off, Mithun gets low to play the reverse paddle. It goes off the back part of the bat and lobs over the keeper's head who looks away to save his face from hurt. Two runs taken.
  • 23.6 Rahim prods forward and blocks it out with the full face of the bat. 99/3
  • 23.5 Room offered outside off, Mithun hangs on the back foot and flays it to deep point. Crosses over to change ends.
  • 23.4 Short and flat outside off, Rahim backs away and cuts it away square on the off side for a single.
  • 23.3 A lot of air provided by the leggie, Rahim pushes it to the cover area.
  • 23.2 Similar ball, the same shot and the same result too. One more added to the scoreboard.
  • 23.1 A bit too full as Shadab tosses it up, wristed down to wide long on. Single to the total.
  • 22.6 Pushed to the cover region by the batsman. They pick up a single. 95/3
  • 22.5 Stays on the back foot to this short ball and pulls it through square leg for a run.
  • 22.4 Driven down the ground to long on for one more.
  • 22.3 Another mishit and it's landed safely again. Mithun gives the charge and looks to go big downtown. Gets it off the outer half and over point for one.
  • 22.2 Spinning away from around off, pushed square on the off side.
  • 22.1 Top edge and it's fallen safely! Mushfiqur gets low to bring out the slog sweep. Gets a top edge as he goes against the spin and luckily for him, it falls between the two mid-wicket fielders - one inside the ring and one in the deep. A single results.
  • 21.6 Quick and flat just outside off, punched off the back foot on the off side to end the over. 90/3
  • 21.5 Goes with the spin and pushes it away to the man at cover.
  • 21.4 Goes deep inside the crease and wrists it away towards square leg for one.
  • 21.3 Quicker one around off, stays back and keeps it out safely.
  • 21.2 Leading edge but it's wide! Loopy leg break outside off, Mithun closes the face early to flick and so the ball takes the leading edge past the diving extra cover fielder for a single.
  • 21.1 Tossed up outside off, pushed away on the off side for no run.
  • 20.6 A nice, clean drive to long off earns the batsman a comfortable single. 88/3
  • 20.5 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 20.4 Floats it up on leg, Rahim works it off his pads on the leg side and gets to the other end.
  • 20.3 On the leg stump line, Rahim attempts to work it fine. Does so but off the pad. A couple of leg byes result.
  • 20.2 Works this down just wide of short mid-wicket and both batsmen take off. Good running as they beat the throw at the striker's end.
  • 20.1 An lbw appeal! Going down leg perhaps. Though this is a much closer call, the review might have been better utilized on this occasion. Nawaz darts it on leg and it straightens up a touch. Mithun gets low to sweep but is rapped on the front pad. Hawk Eye later on shows, it would have clipped the leg pole. Umpire's call which means even if they would have had a review, it would not have made a difference.
  • 19.6 And now, Rahim cuts this very short ball through point and bags a brace. Good fielding in the deep by Afridi as he makes a sliding stop. 83/3
  • 19.5 Floated outside off, Mithun hits it square on the off side for another single. Rotating strike with ease at the moment are the two.
  • 19.4 Another googly but once again it is a little too full, Mithun strokes it to covers.
  • 19.3 Another flighted delivery outside off, Rahim drives it through covers for a run.
  • 19.2 Floats it up on off, Rahim blocks it out.
  • 19.1 Too full again, the batsman eases it back to the bowler who misfields and concedes a run.
  • 18.6 Strokes it against the angle through the off side for a run. 78/3
  • 18.5 The arm ball on middle, kept out.
  • 18.4 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 18.3 Good running! Nawaz fires it outside off, Mithun strokes it through cover-point. He runs the first one hard and calls for the second as it is the longer side of the ground. Completes it with ease.
  • 18.2 Uses his feet and works it through square leg for a single.
  • 18.1 Attacks the stumps, Rahim pushes it back to the bowler.
  • Mohammad Nawaz is back on.
  • 17.6 Gives this one a lot of air and bowls it very full. The spin is out of contention and Mithun strokes it to covers. A better second over by Shadab. 74/3
  • 17.5 The quicker one on the shorter side. Mithun off the back foot, punches it back to the bowler.
  • 17.4 Full marks to the bowler there but runs to the batsman! Still not sure why there ain't a slip in! Shadab bowls the leg spinner outside off, Mithun tries to defend but gets an outside edge through short third man for a brace.
  • 17.3 A full toss, dipping on the batsman. Rahim pushes it down to long on for a run.
  • 17.2 The googly on off, Rahim prods forward and blocks it out.
  • 17.1 Loopy ball on middle, Mithun goes for the drive but gets it off the inner half towards mid on for a run.
  • 16.6 A single to end as MM clips it through square leg. So 7 from this one and 8 off the last. Runs have started to come here for Bangladesh. 70/3
  • 16.5 Smart batting! Mithun knows Malik will keep bowling the leg stump line so he paddles him very fine and bags another brace.
  • 16.4 This is too easy, the leg stump line again by Malik. Rahim nudges it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 16.3 Lovely placement! Rahim with soft hands, works it through mid-wicket. The shot is placed so nicely that the batsmen run two easily.
  • 16.2 Floats it up on the pads, Rahim flicks it to mid-wicket.
  • 16.1 Flicks this through mid-wicket for a run. Mithun is also doing really well, he is ticking the strike along really well.
  • 15.6 The googly now, Rahim does not pick it as he tries to defend. The ball takes the inside edge and goes to square leg. An expensive start for Shadab. 63/3
  • 15.5 FOUR! Clever, very clever. Brings up the 50-run stand with a cheeky shot. Again, the key here is, he gets into the position early and reverse sweeps it very fine on the off side and the ball races away. Not letting Shadab settle here is Rahim and rightly so. Also, a timely stand this, they were in big trouble when the two joined association and now slowly the duo is taking Bangladesh out of trouble.
  • 15.4 The short of a length delivery has been cut away through square on the off side.
  • 15.3 Loopy ball around off, it pitches and turns away. The ball takes the outside edge towards short third man.
  • 15.2 FOUR! Cracked! Rahim is playing those sweep shots to great effect. He again gets into position quickly and sweeps it with a lot of power. The ball gets to the mid-wicket fence in a jiffy.
  • 15.1 The googly to start with, Rahim lunges and blocks.
  • Shadab Khan is into the attack.
  • DRINKS! So Pakistan on top after the first 15 overs. They managed to take three early wickets but since then, Rahim and Mithun have done well to steady the ship. The two are playing sensibly and Bangladesh would want them to continue.
  • 14.6 FOUR! Slapped! An excellent way to end the over! This was short and it was asking to be hit. Mithun does exactly that as he hits it hard through covers and the ball races away. 43 is now the partnership between the two. 55/3
  • 14.5 Plays it with soft hands towards mid-wicket for a run.
  • 14.4 Played through mid-wicket by the batsman.
  • 14.3 Another tossed up delivery, MM flicks it through mid-wicket, this time away from the fielder and takes a run. The 50 is up for Bangladesh, they have lost three wickets but the two out there are now going well.
  • 14.2 Loopy ball this time on the pads, Mithun flicks it towards mid-wicket. The fielder there makes a good diving stop, saving a run for his side.
  • 14.1 With the turn, Rahim nudges it towards mid-wicket and gets to the other end.
  • Shoaib Malik is into the attack. A strange bowling change to be honest, with two right-handers out there, not something you see often.
  • Hmmmm... two sweeps by Mushy in that over. Not quite happy, is Dean Jones on air. He observes that strangely, batsmen sweep a lot in Dubai but not here. Rahim has tried to do that a bit so far with some success. The longer he bats, the more brooms shall we see, I daresay.
  • 13.6 On the shorter side again, Rahim slaps it through covers and retains strike. 48/3
  • 13.5 Darts this on the pads, Rahim goes back and tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. There is a stifled appeal but nothing from the umpire.
  • 13.4 Brings out the sweep shot again but this time does not connect that well. The ball though goes into the gap at the mid-wicket region and a couple taken.
  • 13.3 Uses his feet but comes down a touch early, Nawaz shortens his length and Rahim defends it.
  • 13.2 FOUR! Premeditated and it comes off really well! Even before the ball was delivered, Rahim walks across. Nawaz fires it on the stumps, Rahim goes down on one knee and sweeps it over backward square leg for a boundary.
  • 13.1 Gets good drift on this one, it tails back in and it is fuller in length. The batsman prods forward and strokes it down to long off for a run.
  • 12.6 Good three balls to end the over! On the stumps again, Rahim works it to mid-wicket. Hasan is better off bowling this line and length. 40/3
  • 12.5 Attacks the off pole again, Rahim drives it to mid off.
  • 12.4 Better! On the stumps, Rahim pushes it back past the bowler. He takes a start, the non-striker responds. But just in time Rahim asks him to return. The fielder at mid on does have a shy but misses. Even if he hit, Mithun would have made it back.
  • 12.3 A little too wide outside off, Mithun opens the face of his bat and plays it towards third man and gets to the other end.
  • 12.2 Hasan is trying to get the ball to tail back in from outside off, no swing on offer though as it is pushed through covers for a run.
  • 12.1 Hits the length hard around off, Rahim blocks it out.
  • 11.6 Shuffles across and works it with the angle through mid-wicket to end the over with a run. Another tight over by Nawaz, this is exactly what you can expect of him, he will keep it nice and tight. 38/3
  • 11.5 Stump-to-stump line now, Rahim taps it towards point. He wants a run but is sent back rightly.
  • 11.4 Another tossed up delivery on off, Mithun pushes it through mid off for a run. Nawaz is not getting a lot of purchase out there.
  • 11.3 Almost! Nicely bowled! Slows this up and gives it a lot of air. Lands it on the stumps, Rahim goes for the sweep but is a touch early into the stroke. He gets a bottom edge towards short fine leg for a run.
  • 11.2 Rahim with the angle works it to mid-wicket.
  • 11.1 Fires this on the pads, Rahim tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The ball rolls towards short fine leg.
  • 10.6 Fuller and straighter in line this time, the batsman works it to mid-wicket. A good over for Bangladesh comes to an end. 8 from it, best of the innings so far. 35/3
  • 10.5 EDGED AND FOUR! Not good captaincy this, there should be a slip in place, especially with the opposition in trouble. Hasan bowls it around off, it swings away a touch. Mithun goes for the booming drive but gets an outside edge through the vacant slip cordon for a boundary.
  • 10.4 Too easy! Once again it is bowled outside off, Rahim opens the face of his bat and guides it down to third man for a single.
  • 10.3 The length was better this time but again, width is on offer outside off. Mithun plays it down to third man for a run.
  • 10.2 Very full outside off, Rahim drives it crisply through covers for a run. Hasan is bowling a little too full and also offering width. He needs to be a little more straighter.
  • 10.1 Good length around off, Mithun plays it nicely as he guides it at the very last moment through short third man for a single.
  • Time for Powerplay 2! Now 4 fielders can be placed outside the ring till the 40th over.
  • 9.6 Drifting in on middle and off, Mushfiqur is well forward in defense. 27/3
  • 9.5 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. They pick up a single.
  • 9.4 Full and straight from the spinner, pushed back down the track.
  • 9.3 Makes use of the feet and works it away on the leg side.
  • 9.2 Stays right behind the line and blocks it out.
  • 9.1 Safe! As expected, it's clearly going down leg. Poor call from the skipper Sarfraz to even discuss the review, let alone take it. Sliding in on leg and it keeps going down with the angle, Mithun looks to put bat on ball but doesn't make connection and is hit on the pads. An appeal follows but the umpire doesn't bother. Sarfraz speaks with Nawaz and after some thinking, the 'T' is signalled. Strange. Replays roll in and show the ball is missing the leg stump by a big margin. Pakistan lose their only review.
  • The DRS is taken by Pakistan. It's for an lbw call and Mohammad Mithun is the man in question. Looks to be going down leg to the naked eye. Might be a poor call. Let's see...
  • Second change made as Mohammad Nawaz is into the bowling attack as well.
  • 8.6 Plants his front foot forward and drives the fuller length ball to covers. 26/3
  • 8.5 Width offered again, too full outside off, Rahim carves it over backward point. Shoaib Malik from third man moves across to his right and makes a tumbling stop. Two runs collected.
  • 8.4 Beaten! This one doesn't rise as much as it's pitched on a length outside off, Mushfiqur tries to run it down to third man but fails to do so.
  • 8.3 FOUR! Shot. Too full and well outside off, Rahim has no problems putting it away. Drives it sweetly through the gap in the covers and finds the fence with ease.
  • 8.2 The batsman has punched that ball through the off side.
  • 8.1 Full length delivery outside off, Mithun gets off the mark with a square drive through point and takes a single.
  • Hasan Ali into the attack now.
  • 7.6 Keeps it tight again. A length ball on off, tapped back down the track. Rahim wants the single but his partner doesn't, so is sent back. 7 runs in the last 4 overs. Pakistan still very much on top for the moment. 19/3
  • 7.5 FOUR! Up and over! That shot will relieve a lot of pressure. Short ball outside off, width offered and Rahim latches onto it. Frees his arms and lofts it over backward point for a boundary.
  • 7.4 Short of a good length kept tight around the off stump line, Rahim blocks with a steady head.
  • 7.3 Too far of off, left alone for the keeper to collect.
  • 7.2 On a driving length, outside off, pushed away in front of covers.
  • 7.1 Sweet connection off the meat but hit straight to the fielder. Rahim leans ahead and drives the full ball to cover.
  • 6.6 Marginally ahead of a length on off, guarded out safely by shifting his weight onto the front foot. 15/3
  • 6.5 Takes the pull on this time and helps it along the carpet to deep backward square leg. Single to the total.
  • 6.5 Wide! Banged in short, takes Mushfiqur by surprise too but unfortunately for Khan it's too short. The umpire raises his arms sideways and signals a wide.
  • 6.4 Length delivery close to off, seaming in, Mushi watches the ball closely and once again blocks it out.
  • 6.3 Takes a nice big stride forward to this full ball and drives it to the man positioned at mid on.
  • 6.2 Continues from around the wicket, angles it in on off, Mushfiqur blocks it from the inner portion on the leg side.
  • 6.1 Fullish in length, keeps it around that off stump channel, Rahim meets it with the full face of the bat.
  • 5.6 Mithun hangs back inside the crease and offers a firm punch into the off side. Dot ball. 13/3
  • 5.5 Whoa! How close was that? Dangerously. Serves it on off and it moves away as late as it possibly could have, Mithun tries to put bat on ball but the away movement just about takes the outside edge.
  • 5.4 Outside off, not threatening the batsman in anyway, Mithun lets it be.
  • 5.3 Extremely full as it's fired outside off, drilled down the ground but straight to mid off.
  • 5.2 Edged and away! Rahim is a lucky man. Short ball rising off the surface, Rahim is in no control as he raises his bat to block and it takes the edge. Flies past first slip and runs down to third man. Single taken but that was close.
  • 5.1 A hint of inward movement as it lands on middle and off, Rahim defends it down on the off side from within the crease.
  • 4.6 Sharp bumper. Takes Mithun by surprise but the batsman just about manages to avoid it. 12/3
  • 4.5 Length delivery on middle and off, blocked back down the track.
  • 4.4 Keeps it tight, cutting in on middle and off, worked down on the leg side with soft hands.
  • 4.3 Full in length outside off, driven to covers by Mithun but straight to the fielder.
  • Mohammad Mithun to bat next. He walks in with his side in trouble.
  • 4.2 OUT! Wow. That's beautiful bowling. Superb stuff. The change in angle does the trick. What a ball. Junaid angles it in but then gets it to straighten up significantly. Das plays down the wrong line and that becomes his undoing. The ball whizzes past the outside edge and much like with Mominul, his off stick goes flying behind. Superb delivery. This is the kind of spark Pakistan were seemingly lacking in the previous games.
  • 4.1 Comes from around the wicket to Das and angles in a length delivery on off, it's blocked down the track by getting behind the line.
  • 3.6 Banged in short and it's quite accurate too, Rahim leaves it alone. 12/2
  • Mushfiqur Rahim is the next batsman in.
  • 3.5 OUT! That's what you call a response! Terrific stuff from the left-arm pacer. Got hit for a boundary off the previous delivery and responds by knocking his stumps over. Bowls it a touch fuller than a length and brings it in, it's at a decent pace but the movement does him in. It goes past the inside edge of Haque's bat, raps him on the pads and deflects onto the off stump behind, uprooting it. Bangladesh rocked early yet again.
  • 3.4 FOUR! First boundary of the day! Super shot from Mominul Haque. Too full and quite straight from Shaheen Afridi, easy enough for the left-hander to lean ahead nicely and flick the half-volley through the mid-wicket region for a boundary.
  • 3.3 Full ball straying on the pads, flicked through backward square leg for one more.
  • 3.2 Mominul is off the mark. Shaping in on middle and off, worked away from the inner half in front of square leg for a single.
  • 3.1 Plays this very late. Waits for the ball to come and then opens the face at the last minute to run it down towards third man for a single.
  • 2.6 Good length delivery in the channel outside off, Haque makes a watchful leave. End of a successful over from Junaid Khan. 5/1
  • Mominul Haque walks in at no.3.
  • 2.5 OUT! GONE! That's the first wicket down for Bangladesh. Junaid Khan strikes on his return to the XI, good start for him, not so much for Soumya Sarkar who's gone for a duck on his comeback into the side. Short ball around off, rising on the batsman too quickly and the pace probably gets him too. He takes on the pull shot and gets a top edge. It balloons towards mid-wicket where Fakhar Zaman comes in a few paces and gobbles a simple catch.
  • 2.4 Outside off on a good length, played to point. Straight to the fielder.
  • 2.3 Pitched fuller than a good length and outside off, Sarkar comes forward and plays a mistimed drive back in the bowler's direction.
  • 2.2 Back of a length outside off, placed wide of point for an easy run.
  • 2.1 Full length delivery angling in on leg, Sarkar tries flicking it away but it goes off the pads. It rolls on the leg side and the batsmen take a leg bye.
  • 1.6 Quite straight in line, tucked in front of square leg to end the over. A maiden to start with for Shaheen. 3/0
  • 1.5 Wide yorker outside off, the right-hander gets low in an attempt to squeeze it out but fails to make connection.
  • 1.4 Just ahead of a length, on the off stump, Das leans forward and across before wristing it towards mid on.
  • 1.3 Short of a length delivery going away with the natural angle, Liton withdraws his bat and has nothing to do with it.
  • 1.2 Much better this time. Is more confident as he drives the full ball to mid off.
  • 1.1 Slightly fullish and shaping away from around off, Liton Das just checks this shot as he chips it safely towards covers.
  • Shaheen Afridi to bowl from the other end with the second new ball.
  • 0.6 Good start for Pakistan. Just 3 off the first over. Junaid angles in a length delivery from around off, Sarkar firmly blocks it back down the track. 3/0
  • 0.5 Opens the face of the bat to this one angling away and steers it past point to get to the other end.
  • 0.4 Good length ball on middle and off, holding its line, blocked from inside the crease.
  • 0.3 Close! After bringing the first two back in, Junaid moves this away from a back of a length, Das has a tame poke at it from inside the line and gets beaten.
  • 0.2 Fraction straight in line, on a good length, Das defends it back down the track rather comfortably.
  • 0.1 A little bit of swing in and Bangladesh are underway. Full and coming in on middle and leg, Liton Das flicks it ever so well in front of square leg for a couple of runs.
  • Done and dusted with the national anthems and the players make their way out to the middle. Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar are the openers for Bangladesh. The former will be on strike and he will face Junaid Khan who has the first new ball in hand. A slip in place for him. Here we go...
  • The players make their way out for their respective national anthems.
  • Sarfraz Ahmed says the conditions are different in the night but any score can be chased down here. Reckons the batsmen have to stick to their natural game and they will probably do well. Adds further that Bangladesh's batting is long and they will look to bowl them out quickly. informs there is one change as Junaid Khan comes in for Mohammad Amir.
  • Mashrafe Mortaza says it looks a good wicket to bat on. Mentions they lost a few wickets early in the last game and they are hoping for a good start this time. Admits the top order is struggling but they would hope they can do better. Informs they have quite a few changes as Nazmul Hossain Shanto is not playing and Soumya Sarkar comes in place of him. Adds Shakib Al Hasan is out as he is injured and Mominul Haque takes his place and Rubel Hossain comes in place of Nazmul Islam.
  • Toss - Up goes the coin and it lands in the favor of Bangladesh. They will bat first.
  • Pitch Report - Ramiz Raja says the boundaries are quite big on either side, so the spinners would be a little assured about the mishits not travelling all the way. Mentions there's a little bit of grass, but it will only hold the surface together and the wicket will be good for batting. Reckons the team winning the toss should bat first and get around 250 on the board. Ends by saying that use the new ball well under lights and then unleash the spinners in the second half.
  • Hello and welcome to the last game of the Super Four stage between Pakistan and Bangladesh. A lot is at stake here today as the winner goes through to take on India in the final. Both the teams will be eager to get over the finish line. The Tigers have momentum on their side but have struggled against Pakistan. However, the Men in Green have just not looked at their best in this tournament. They head into this game after a morale-deflating defeat and it would be interesting to see if they have recovered. They go into the match as favourites but you just can't rule Bangladesh out. Let us hope for another exciting encounter. Stay tuned.

Pakistan Vs Bangladesh Live Score (ODI) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • So that's it from us for the night. Bangladesh have stunned one and all by booking a place in the final with India. They have not played their best cricket but are still here. Tonight, they were spectacular but they need to be more than that when they take on the number 2 ODI team on Friday. That match will take place in Dubai on September 28, 2018 at 1530 local (1130 GMT). Hopefully, it is a cracker. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • MUSHFIQUR RAHIM IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. The wicket-keeper batsmen tates that Bangladesh were prepared to lose a couple of early wickets against a quality bowling attack o Pakistan but he and Mithun believed that once the new-ball passage was through, they can get runs in the middle overs. Credits his constant practice for playing strokes consistently and the almighty for helping him keep calm in tough situations.
  • Victorious Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza, says that tonight they changed the bowling line-up a bit. Normally, he starts but he let Mustafizur take the new ball. Does not quite specify the reason but credits the entire bowling and fielding units. Hopes that his team produces this same performance on Friday in the final. On his flying catch to dismiss Malik, the modest skipper puts it down to luck and states that had he dropped that, Malik would have taken Pakistan home. On their big match against India, Mashrafe states that India are the number 1 team in the world while his own team would be without Tamim or Shakib. But still, they need to give their best and try and win the trophy.
  • Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed, admits that he is not feeling happy at all. But says that if you do not play well, then you cannot win and takes the blame on himself for not leading from the front. Stressing on the weak aspects, he first points out to fielding, then bowling in the middle overs, batting consistently and eventually, spin bowling. On Fakhar Zaman's poor form, he agrees that the opener has been giving them good starts while Shadab and Hasan have been doing well in the middle overs but their batting collapses have hurt them the most. Is proud of the newbie Shaheen Afridi and reckons that it is a good prospect.
  • Not too long ago, Bangladesh fans were cursing their players after their big loss to India. But they have overcome all those comments and have stormed into the final. The bowling stood up once again, with the young Mustafizur falling just one short of a fifer. But the most underestimated bowlers of the evening - Mehidy Hasan, Mahmudullah and Soumya Sarkar - well, they were the main ones responsible for keeping the lid on the proceedings. Their collective figures were 25-1-85-4 with 82 dot balls. Excellent team performance. Please stay tuned for the presentation to see who gets the Man Of The Match award.
  • Credit has to be given to Pakistan though. They looked down and out at 94/5 but Imam and Asif staged another recovery. They nearly got the batting side on a path which could have led to victory. However, with 75 needed from 65 balls, Mehidy and Mahmudullah struck in successive overs to send both the set batsmen back and that sealed the chase.
  • Having kept Bangladesh to 239, the momentum was firmly with Pakistan. However, just like Bangladesh, they were reduced to 3 down in no time. Shoaib Malik and Imam-ul-Haq then tried to revive the innings but a Mashrafe special sent Malik back in the hut.
  • Comfortable win for Bangladesh. Their fourth in a row in ODIs over Pakistan. Who would have thought that? Right from the start of the tournament, the predictions have been an India-Pakistan final. Now, that script has changed.
  • 49.6 A FORWARD DEFENSE to end the game. Full and outside off, Afridi pushes it towards cover. The non-striker wants a single and the throw comes in at his end but misses the stumps. Does not matter. BANGLADESH WIN BY 37 RUNS AND ARE IN THE FINAL!!!
  • 49.5 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 49.4 Another slower ball. SA looks to push it through the off side but is beaten once more.
  • 49.3 Full and outside off, driven past the bowler towards mid off.
  • 49.2 The off cutter, outside off, Shaheen looks to guide it to third man but is beaten by the slowness of the delivery.
  • 49.1 A short ball outside off, Afridi swivels and pulls it cleanly - but straight to deep mid-wicket. They do not run.
  • Final over. Mustafizur to bowl. A fifer?
  • 48.6 Full and outside off, driven uppishly towards mid off. 202/9
  • 48.5 Full and outside off, driven towards mid off for a run.
  • 48.4 The batsman goes for the pull but misses it completely.
  • 48.3 A short ball on middle, Afridi swings but the ball goes off the bottom edge towards short third man.
  • 48.2 A length ball outside off, Junaid takes his eyes off the ball and it goes off the gloves, through the vacant slip cordon to third man. A run taken.
  • 48.1 Played to the point region by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 47.6 A fuller length outside off, Junaid backs away and drives it straight to cover. 199/9
  • 47.5 Another length ball outside off, JK swings again but misses once more.
  • 47.4 Outside off, Junaid swings with all his might but misses.
  • 47.3 The batsman guides it to third man. They pick up a single.
  • 47.2 Another short ball, this time Afridi looks to pull but misses.
  • 47.1 A short ball outside off, Afridi sways away.
  • Back to Mustafizur. Can he pick up a fifer?
  • 46.6 Full and outside off, Khan hits this down the ground. Initially, he does not run, because he thinks mid off will stop it. But then, the ball goes past the fielder. Now, Junaid does not run, because he thinks he cannot get more than a single. Then, he realizes that probably he can get two. However, by that time, the ball is stopped and Afridi sends him back. So, a dot ball in the end. 198/9
  • 46.5 Full on middle, heaved towards long on for a run.
  • 46.4 Full and outside off, hit hard to mid off for a quick single. Junaid starts to run but then forgets that he has to drag his bat in. Mashrafe Mortaza's throw misses the stumps at the bowler's end. Direct hit could have been interesting.
  • 46.3 Full and outside off, blasted through the covers for a single.
  • 46.2 Backs away, Rubel bowls a pinpoint yorker on middle, Shaheen swings hard again but gets a bottom edge back to the bowler.
  • 46.1 SIX! HUMONGOUS! This kid can bat. A length ball outside off, Afridi swings it massively over mid-wicket! One of my colleagues, Mr. Polite, reckons that reminded him of the sixes Sourav Ganguly used to hit. Good memory.
  • 45.6 EDGED, PUT DOWN! Mustafizur is robbed of a fifer. But Liton cannot be blamed for this. A length ball, outside off, moving away, Afridi pushes at it and gets a healthy outside edge. Das dives full length to his left but the ball hits the webbing of his left glove and pops out. 189/9
  • 45.5 Full and outside off, Khan pushes at it and gets a thick outside edge behind point. A single taken.
  • 45.4 HUGE APPEAL FOR CAUGHT BEHIND! IS THE MATCH OVER? Nope. A length ball around off, angling away, Junaid looks to defend but is beaten. Liton Das collects and immediately starts jumping in an appeal but the umpire is unmoved. Snickometer detects nothing.
  • 45.3 A length ball outside off, Junaid swings but misses.
  • 45.2 The yorker, swinging in, around leg, Afridi somehow gets his bat to sneak the ball towards square leg. Mustafizur starts to appeal but then bails out. A single taken.
  • Junaid Khan is the last man in to complete the final rites.
  • 45.1 OUT! That is a cracking shot but the boundary is very large and the man pouches it in the deep. Pakistan are 9 down. A short ball, around middle, Nawaz gets hold of it and latches onto the pull. • 7.4 FOUR! Great shot again! After going for a boundary on the previous ball, the Fizz drops it a touch short. Malik is more than happy to see that length. He gets on top of the bounce with a gentle hop and punches it through the covers. That was more of a forehand winner in Tennis. Consecutive boundaries. 207 more needed from 254 balls. Malik moves to 12 from 15 balls.
  • 7.3 FOUR! MAGNIFICENT! Great balance. And the timing is exquisite was well. Full and outside off, Malik comes forward, meets the ball on the half volley and drives it with the full face of the bat. Great elbow position too. The ball goes past the bowler and mid off. No chance for either. The stand moves to 11 from 24 balls.
  • 7.2 Good length, just short of full, the line is just around off and Shoaib comes forward to defend.
  • 7.1 Full and outside off, driven straight to cover.
  • 6.6 Full and outside off, this time Imam meets it with a perfect off drive. 25/3
  • 6.5 THAT STAYED LOW! This will now play in the minds of the batsmen. Mashrafe lands this somewhere around the good length, outside off and Imam hops back to defend. But then, the ball scoots low and the batsman is lucky that the bat comes down in time to meet the ball.
  • 6.4 Similar shot, but this time it is in the gap. A single behind point.
  • 6.3 Around off, pushed to the off side.
  • 6.2 Down the leg side, Malik helps it through the leg side for a couple.
  • 6.1 LBW shout, but not out. Mashrafe does not review. Imam walks across his sticks and the Bangladesh captain bowls it straight. The angle perhaps is taking the ball down the leg side as Mortaza is bowling from around the wicket. Imam misses his flick and is hit on the pads. There is an LBW appeal but it dies down pretty quickly. Hawk Eye shows it to be MISSING LEG. Meanwhile, a leg bye has been stolen. PAKISTAN FINALLY GET THEIR SCOREBOARD MOVING AFTER 12 DOTS ON THE TROT.
  • 5.6 The batsman defends it from within the crease. CONSECUTIVE MAIDENS FOR BANGLADESH!!! 21/3
  • 5.5 A lovely shot, but for nothing. Half volley outside off, Malik leans and drives it but straight to short extra cover.
  • 5.4 Around off, SM gets across a touch and pushes it towards mid on.
  • 5.3 Full and straight, watchfully defended.
  • 5.2 Through him! Jaffa from Mustafizur. He lands it on a length outside off and Shoaib looks to defend from his crease. But at the last moment, the ball nips back in and cuts him into two! Goes right between bat and pad.
  • 5.1 Full and around off, Malik is watchful and blocks it towards cover.
  • 4.6 A MAIDEN FOR MASH! The captain has started well in this do-or-die game. Full and just around off, driven straight to mid off. 21/3
  • 4.5 A bit of width outside off, pretty much full, Imam flashes hard but does not move his feet. The ball misses the outside edge by a whisker. Rahim appeals for the catch, but in vain.
  • 4.4 A short ball outside off, played straight to point.
  • 4.3 Full and straight, watchfully defended.
  • 4.2 Outside off, punched off the back foot.
  • 4.1 Full and around middle, watchfully defended.
  • Skipper time. Mashrafe Mortaza to bowl now.
  • 3.6 The batsman has nudged the ball fine down the leg side. The batsmen have run through for a single. 21/3
  • 3.6 WIDE. Down the leg side, flick shot missed.
  • 3.5 RUN OUT, RUN OUT, RUN OUT, BUT MISSED! Oh dear... Mahmudullah is the fielder. Pakistan would have been 4 down in the 4th over. A length ball outside off, Malik pushes this wide of mid off and keeps on running. But Imam is in no mood to respond. He is busy watching Mahmudullah run across to his left. All of a sudden, both batsmen are close to shaking hands with one another and Rahim screams to his brother-in-law to throw the ball but Mahmudullah takes his eyes off the ball at a crucial moment and fumbles. The ball rolls behind and Imam now runs across to the other end. What a lucky break.
  • 3.4 Outside off, on a length, played towards point.
  • Shoaib Malik walks in at number 5, replacing his skipper.
  • 3.3 OUT! Edged and a fantastic catch has been taken! This game is alive and kicking. If Bangladesh were 12/3, Pakistan are 18/3. Will we see a revival as we saw in the first innings or are Bangladesh smelling victory already? Let us not talk about the future for now. Let us be in the present. This moment belongs to that man - who scored a magnificent 99 with the bat, was tired but still helped Bangladesh recover. This wicket belongs to him. Full and outside off, angling away, Sarfraz chases it away from his body and does not bother to move his feet much. A poor shot and he pays the price. The edge flies behind but so does Mushfiqur Rahim. He goes to his right and takes it brilliantly. The Pakistan captain has come and now the Pakistan captain has gone. Is the Asia Cup gone too?
  • 3.2 FOUR! Wrong line. Down the leg side, Sarfraz tickles it fine, towards the fence behind. There seems to be a fielder but he is very square.
  • 3.1 On middle and leg, flicked through square leg for a single.
  • 2.6 Around off, Sarfraz looks to defend from the crease but suddenly the ball shoots up and hits the splice of the bat. Lands safely on the leg side. 13/2
  • 2.5 Full and on the pads, flicked through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 2.4 Excellent fielding! They are on fire in the field and have their tails up. Full and outside off, Imam drives it through the covers and the ball races away but Liton Das at short extra dives full length to his left to stop that. Gets a bad bounce but he manages to collect, get up and then fire a throw to the keeper.
  • 2.3 Quicker one, just outside off, watchfully defended towards cover.
  • 2.2 Outside off, eased through cover-point for a quick single.
  • 2.1 Full and around off, worked straight to short mid-wicket.
  • 1.6 Around off and outside, watchfully defended. 8 runs and a wicket from that Fizz over. 11/2
  • 1.5 A length ball on middle and leg, tucked through square leg for a couple. Both the batsmen are off the mark now.
  • 1.4 Full again, flicked behind square on the leg side for a single.
  • 1.3 FOUR! LOVELY! The captain is off the mark in grand fashion. A bit of a half volley, outside off, Sarfraz comes forward and drives it through the covers. No stopping that.
  • 1.3 WIDE. Plenty of swing for the Fizz. He lands this on a length but swings it down the leg side. Sarfraz looks to flick but misses. Good keeping by Rahim diving to his left.
  • The captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, walks in at number 4, replacing Babar.
  • 1.2 OUT! LBW! Second wicket down for Pakistan and the Bangladesh fans are on fire!!! Terrific bowling. Mustafizur lands this on a length, around the line of the stumps, one would suppose. Babar is back in his crease to try and defend that but the ball skids off the surface and pings him on the back pad. Mustafizur, Mushfiqur and perhaps the whole of Bangladesh appeal. The umpire thinks for a while and then raises his finger! Babar walks over to Imam, has a bit of a chat but then, is on his way. No review taken. Hawk Eye shows that to be pitching in line and going on to clip the off stump. Umpire's call would have been the verdict if the review had been taken. Boy oh boy, the Men In Green are on top. Which one? You definitely know...
  • 1.1 A length ball outside off, Azam looks to cut but gets a bottom edge to the off side.
  • Mustafizur Rahman to bowl with the second new ball.
  • 0.6 Azam eases this down to long on and takes a run. Ends a successful over for Bangladesh. 3/1
  • Babar Azam is the new man in.
  • 0.5 OUT! In the air... taken! What a catch! That was travelling and Rubel has plucked that out of thin air. Take a bow! Bangladesh are up and running as they have got rid of the dangerous Zaman in the first over itself. Once again he falls prey to a spinner. He uses his feet and gets to the pitch of the ball. Hits it hard but uppishly towards mid on. He must have thought boundary as soon as he hit it, but it wasn't to be. Hossain there, times his leap to perfection and hangs onto it. Falls onto the ground after taking it. Fakhar Zaman walks back in disbelief and once again he does not trouble the scorers a lot.
  • 0.4 The arm ball on middle, Imam tries to defend but the ball goes off the inner half towards square leg for a run. He too is off the mark.
  • 0.3 The pitch just might have quickened up under lights as once again it easily comes onto the bat. FZ punches it down to long off and Pakistan are off the mark.
  • 0.2 Slower through the air this time, once again it skids on, good signs for the batsman. Zaman lunges and keeps it out.
  • 0.1 Starts off with a flatter delivery on off, it skids through after pitching. Zaman cuts it to point.
  • We are back for the chase! The openers, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq make their way out to the middle. The former will be on strike and he will be facing a spinner first up. Mehidy Hasan has the first new ball in his hand. Here we go...
