  • Tim Paine's rather defensive captaincy is a major cause for that. When Pakistan were reduced to 57/5, he did not apply the kind of pressure he should have and let the opposition batsmen score freely. It could really cost him and his side. Though, plenty left in this game. Will be interesting to see how his batsmen see off the remaining time before Stumps today with the ball turning and gripping like it is. Should be fun.
  • The 147-run stand between Zaman and Sarfraz (both of whom missed out on tons) set the tone and it seemed like the hosts would take the game away completely, but an unexpected weapon in Marnus Labuschagne broke that stand and the leggie managed to bag 2 more after that. It helped the visitors to somewhat come back in the game, but those late runs from Yasir Shah saw Pakistan get close to 300, which would disappoint the Australians.
  • After how the first hour of this opening day panned out, you'd have wondered if they would even get to 200, let alone close to 300. A fine effort from skipper Sarfraz and debutant Zaman to steer their side to safe waters after their top and most of the middle order were torn apart by Nathan Lyon's 4-fer in the morning.
  • 80.6 OUT! TIMBER! That seals the deal for Australia. Starc comes charging in and arrows an inswinging yorker on middle, Abbas has no chance of doing anything about it as the stumps are disturbed. PAKISTAN ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 282!
  • 80.5 FOUR BYES! Way, way down the leg side, even Paine has no chance to stop it with a full stretch dive. It goes across the fine leg boundary in a jiffy.
  • 80.4 Outside off, the batsman shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 80.3 Yorker speared in on leg, worked away on the leg side without much trouble.
  • 80.2 Good length delivery angling across, Abbas looks to play at it but misses.
  • 80.1 Full delivery swinging in from outside off, a mistimed drive from Abbas finds the man at mid off.
  • And Mitchell Starc will take it immediately.
  • The second new ball has been taken.
  • 79.6 Extremely full on the stumps, dug out back down the track. 278/9
  • 79.5 Turning away from outside off, on a shorter length, punched away square on the off side for a run.
  • 79.4 A single 'round the corner as it's flicked there easily.
  • 79.3 A back foot punch from deep inside the crease finds its way to the bowler.
  • 79.2 Quicker through the air again, hit back in the bowler's direction.
  • 79.1 Quicker and on the stumps, forced towards mid-wicket.
  • 78.6 Defends it by coming onto the front foot and seeing it out safely. 276/9
  • 78.5 SIX! That's a meaty blow! A lot of loop on this as Lyon lands it full outside off, Abbas reaches out to it and launches it over long on for a biggie.
  • 78.4 Turning in from around off, Abbas defends it off the front foot.
  • 78.3 Fuller from Lyon, defended well from inside the crease.
  • 78.2 Full and fast, angling in on leg, goes off the pads behind on the leg side as Hamza misses the slog sweep. A leg bye is taken.
  • 78.1 Mir Hamza defends it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 77.6 Turns it through the left of short leg and gets a single for doing so. 269/9
  • 77.5 Remains watchful as he plants his front foot forward and defends.
  • 77.4 Quicker through the air, shorter in length, worked off the pads past short leg.
  • 77.3 On the fuller side of things again, another defensive shot in response.
  • 77.2 Yorker fired in on off, jammed out back down the track.
  • 77.1 Pushes it quicker through the air, full on off, pushed off the outer half to gully.
  • 76.6 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. 268/9
  • 76.5 Plays for the turn when there is none. Gets beaten past the outside edge as a result.
  • 76.4 Brings out the reverse sweep and gets a top edge. Luckily for him, it falls safely in the backward point area. Two taken.
  • 76.3 Turning into the batsman, Abbas goes back and defends it with the full face.
  • 76.2 Drifting in on middle and off, dug out towards mid on. Single taken.
  • 76.1 Tossed up and just around off, Hamza comes onto the front foot and blocks.
  • Nathan Lyon is back on.
  • 75.6 Hamza is off the mark in Test cricket. Fuller outside off, he comes forward and pushes it just wide of point for a single. 265/9
  • 75.5 Stays right behind the line and blocks it out.
  • 75.4 Angling across on a fullish length, outside off, play and a miss from Hamza.
  • Debutant Mir Hamza is the last man in for Pakistan.
  • 75.3 OUT! Bowled 'em! Terrific delivery from Mitchell Marsh. Timely blow for Australia. That tried and tested yorker from Marsh. Fires it on leg stump and Shah can't do anything about it. Looks to flick but it goes off his pads and crashes into the stumps behind. He'd have liked to do more, but Yasir has done his job here.
  • 75.2 FOUR! Shah making some quick and useful runs here. Pakistan have crossed 260. Short of a length on the stumps, Yasir pulls it hard in front of square leg and finds the fence.
  • 75.1 Touch short on leg, worked behind square on the leg side for a single.
  • 74.6 Classy punch through covers for a brace by Yasir Shah. Ends a 12 run over, a good one for the hosts. 259/8
  • 74.5 Beaten! Good come back by the leggie as he pulls his length back a little and lands it around off. Shah goes back looking to block it but is beaten as the ball lands, spins and zips past his outside edge.
  • 74.4 SIX! WHACK! Flighted ball on off this. Yasir in super attacking mode now as he gets under this one and smacks it straight over the long off fielder for a huge maximum. Very important runs these for Pakistan.
  • 74.3 FOUR! Drags it short. Was trying a quicker one may be and errs in length. Yasir Shah gets quickly onto it by rocking back and pulling it through the deep square leg region for a smashing boundary.
  • 74.2 Similar ball, Shah this time goes back to punch it to mid off.
  • 74.1 Tossed up ball in line with the stump. Yasir prods forward in defense.
  • 73.6 Shorter in length angling into Abbas. The right-hander shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot. 247/8
  • 73.5 This time Abbas lets the ball go outside his off stump.
  • 73.4 Abbas again comes forward to defend this good length ball on off.
  • 73.3 Mohammad has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 73.2 Similar length but on off this time. Abbas waits back in his crease and keeps it out.
  • 73.1 Fractionally shorter of a good length, angling into the batsman. Abbas does well to block it out off the back foot.
  • Mohammad Abbas walks out to bat.
  • Drinks.
  • 72.6 OUT! Lucky this time though! A bit of a rash stroke from Sarfraz but he had to go for it with the lower order at the other end. He was getting tired as well. Tries to whack this tossed up ball on off over the mid off fielder. However, gets the outer half of the bat as the ball goes in the air towards Siddle at extra cover. Peter fumbles it a couple of times but grabs it on the third attempt. The leg spinner is now the leading wicket-taker in this innings with three dismissals to his name. 247/8
  • 72.5 Unlucky Labuschagne. He gives this a bit more air and keeps it full outside off. Ahmed goes for the drive but gets the outside edge. It flies through the vacant second slip region and the Pakistan captain picks up a brace.
  • 72.4 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 72.3 A bit straighter this one allowing Shah to flick it through the square leg region and go to the other end.
  • 72.2 Keeps it very full in line with the stumps. Yasir drives off the inner half to mid on.
  • 72.1 Tossed up ball on off, Sarfraz goes down to sweep and gets it thorugh to deep square leg for a single.
  • 71.6 Similar ball this but Ahmed tucks it onto the backward square leg region to pick up a single and keep strike. The fielder there dives to stop the single but fumbles and the batsmen cross over. 243/7
  • 71.5 Bouncer! Sarfraz does well to evade it by getting inside it's line.
  • 71.4 Short again and Ahmed is now expecting a bouncer every ball. He stands tall to block it out onto the leg side.
  • 71.3 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 71.2 Shorter in length again this and angling into Ahmed's body. He tries to cut it into the off side but gets a bottom edge onto the ground.
  • 71.1 Offline bouncer to start a new over. Starc bangs this one short again. Looks like this is a plan by the bowler to bounce the batsman out. He fires this way down the leg side though.
  • 70.6 Flighted again on off, enticing the drive. Shah though blocks it out off the front foot. 242/7
  • 70.5 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 70.4 Tossed up and in line with the stumps. Shah defends it off the front foot.
  • 70.3 Beaten by a peach. Labuschagne lands this flighted ball on off. Shah goes back looking to keep it out but the ball lands and spins past his outside edge. Good leg spin bowling by the youngster.
  • 70.2 Very full ball on off, Shah punches this straight back to the bowler.
  • 70.1 Well tossed up delivery on off, Yasir looks to drive without getting to the pitch of the ball. The result is a thick outside edge towards the third man region.
  • 69.6 Rib-tickler again but well played by Sarfraz as he rides the bounces and blocks this onto the ground. 242/7
  • 69.5 As expected, Starc again goes for the bouncer. This time though the line is totally wayward as he fires this one way down the leg side.
  • Sarfraz Ahmed is hit on his elbow. The Pakistan physio is out treating the Pakistan captain. Should be fine to continue, doesn't look serious.
  • 69.4 Banged in short again and angling straight at Sarfraz's body. The right-hander comes a bit inside the line looking to block it off. The ball doesn't rise as much as he expected it to and hits him just below his left below. He is in pain and has called the physio out.
  • 69.3 Not too short to duck under it but Sarfraz somehow manages to do that. Starc bangs this one short, the ball flies just over his body.
  • 69.2 A bit shorter than a good length angling into the body of Shah. Yasir does well to get some bat on it towards square leg to get to the other end.
  • 69.1 Bumper! Shah tries to work it on the leg side but has taken his eyes off the ball. His swat misses the ball as it flies behind to Paine.
  • 68.6 Taps this to the point region to end the over. 241/7
  • 68.5 A beauty this from Labuschagne. He lands this flighted delivery full and around off. The well set Pakistan captain looks to block it out but is beaten by the prodigious turn away from him on landing.
  • 68.4 Fuller ball on off, allows Yasir to drive it to mid off and take a run.
  • 68.3 A bit short this from the leggie, Shah goes back to cut but misses again.
  • 68.2 Tossed up ball around off, Yasir comes forward in a solid defense.
  • 68.1 Drags his length as he lands this short and on the stumps. Sarfraz is happy to pull it to the man at deep square leg and picks up a single.
  • 67.6 A bit shorter this time with an inward shape into Shah. The batsman gives himself a bit of room and plays this with a horizontal bat through the point region for a brace. 239/7
  • 67.5 Good length ball angling into Yasir's body. Shah stands tall and blocks it out off the back foot.
  • 67.4 Very full ball and marginally outside off, Shah goes for the big booming drive but mistimes it to mid off.
  • 67.3 A bit too wide of off this as it allows Sarfraz to cut it through point and get off strike.
  • 67.2 Similar ball by Starc and an identical shot attempted by Sarfraz. This time the right-hander taps it towards point.
  • 67.1 Starc from around the wicket fires in a good length ball around off angling in. Sarfraz tries to cut it but gets a bottom edge onto the ground.
  • Mitchell Starc is back into the attack.
  • 66.6 Beaten! Similar to the second delivery of the over. Shah looking to block it gets beaten by the away spin. 236/7
  • 66.5 This time the cover drives earns him a brace. Yasir reaches out to this fuller and flighted delivery on off. Drives this through covers to get a couple of runs.
  • 66.4 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 66.3 A full ball and a bit outside off, driven to mid off.
  • 66.2 Beaten again. Shah tries to defend this tossed up ball on off, gets beaten as the ball lands and zips past Yasir's outside edge.
  • 66.1 Umpire's referral on this one and given not out by the third umpire. A full length ball around off, Shah goes for the drive through the off side but gets beaten by the spin. Paine whips the bails off in a flash and appeals for a stumping. The umpire takes it upstairs and replays show that the batsman is inside his crease.
  • 65.6 A bit quicker and shorter this around off, Ahmed goes back to cut it but gets a bottom edge onto the ground. 234/7
  • 65.5 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 65.4 Fuller length ball is driven softly to mid off.
  • 65.3 Goes over mid-wicket this time. He gets under this tossed up ball on off and whacks it over the mid-wicket region for a brace.
  • 65.2 Swept and it hits Travis Head on the shoulder standing at short leg. Shah goes down and sweep this full ball on off. It hits Head and deflects into the square leg region as the batsmen pick up a run.
  • 65.1 Tossed up but on the pads, Sarfraz flicks it into the square leg region to get off strike.
  • 64.6 FOUR! Superb cover drive from the Pakistan leggie. He gets to the pitch of this full and slower delivery on off. Leans down and drives this crisply through covers to get off the mark. 230/7
  • 64.5 A bit short and Shah camps back to punch it through cover-point.
  • 64.4 Flighted ball on off, Yasir defends it from within the crease.
  • Yasir Shah comes in to bat.
  • 64.3 OUT! Watta leg break! That is Shane Warne-esque here by Labuschagne. He floats this one a bit more and lands it around off on a fuller length. Asif comes forward looking to play it with a tentative push. The ball lands and spins to take a very faint edge which is taken wonderfully by Paine. The leggie doing the job for the tourists. They are back in the match with a bang.
  • 64.2 A bit short on middle and leg, risky shot attempted by Asif as he goes back and opens the bat face to run it towards short third man.
  • 64.1 Flighted ball and full on off, Asif blocks from his crease.
  • 63.6 Fuller ball outside off is driven through covers for a single. 226/6

  • 63.3 Good patience shown by Bilal as he goes back to block this one out.
  • 63.2 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 63.1 Flatter and a bit shorter of full length, Asif tries to cut it through point. Gets an under edge and the ball rolls down to the slip region.

  • 61.2 Flighted and full on off, Sarfraz has driven it through mid on. One run added to the total.
  • 61.1 Asif lets the ball come to him before flicking it through square leg for a single. Easy work for the batsman, this. Paine has to come up with something new.
  • 60.6 Ahmed loses his concentration for a moment and gets beaten. The Pakistan keeper tries to play at a fullish ball outside off. The ball skids on straight to beat his outer edge. 219/6
  • 60.5 Asif has flicked the ball off his pads. Good running between the wickets to pick up three runs.
  • 60.4 FOUR! Smashed over mid-wicket. Bilal goes back to this slower and shorter delivery on off. He pulls this handsomely over mid-wicket for a lovely boundary. Good batting this, putting pressure on the spinner.
  • 60.3 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 60.2 Played to the point region by Sarfraz. They pick up a single.
  • 60.1 Was that a drop? However, byes given by the umpire. Very difficult though. However, byes given by the umpire. So, not a drop this. Very full and a bit quicker outside off. Bilal tries to drive this through covers but misses as the ball spins away. It flies past the left of the first slip fielder who goes for it but cannot get his hand under it. It goes behind for three byes.
  • 59.6 A wristy flick from Asif earns him a single on the last ball of the over. 208/6
  • 59.5 A bit straighter this one, in line with the stumps. Sarfraz moves inside the line and flicks it to square leg to get off strike.
  • 59.4 Not good this from the Aussies. They have a long on in place for the new batsman, he drives this flighted ball towards long on and gets an easy single.
  • 59.3 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.

  • Lyon to continue after the Tea break.

  • 58.5 Tossed up and a bit outside off this, Asif comes forward in a solid defense.
  • We are all set to get the third and final session underway as the umpires make their way out to the middle, followed by the charged up Aussies. Sarfraz Ahmed and the new batsman, Bilal Asif, stride out to the center with the latter on strike, facing his first ball. Labuschagne will finish his over by bowling the last two remaining deliveries.
  • ... Day 1, Final Session ...
  • What will no doubt be marked as Pakistan's session will still provide some semblance to the Aussies. The pair of Zaman and Ahmed were motoring along well, scoring 127 runs in the session and looked set. Though, right at the stroke of the break, Marnus Labuschagne came up with an absolute jaffa to dismiss Zaman, thereby stopping him from scoring his maiden Test ton. Tim Paine largely was dormant with his captaincy, but the moment he changed things he got a breakthrough. This wicket might just make him realize what to do and the visitors will look to run through the Pakistan tail. Sarfraz will obviously be the key here and it will all come down to how he plays with the tail to score some more useful runs. Don't go away, play will resume shortly.
  • 58.4 OUT! Three reds and Fakhar Zaman is out of here. Finally, Tim Paine shakes things up and gets a wicket as a result. The southpaw misses out on his ton and the 147-run partnership is broken. Labuschagne loops up a leg break on middle, it turns ever so slightly and that's enough to beat the inside edge. He's caught on the front pad and a loud shout goes up. The umpire raises his finger but this time Zaman opts for the review. Replays roll in and show he's gone for all money. Australia go into the break with a smile on their face. TEA ON DAY 1!
  • Another review. Zaman the man in question but this time he's given out. He takes the DRS and it's over to the TV umpire. Looks out this time. Going to be close.
  • 58.3 Played to mid-wicket region by the batsman.
  • 58.2 Full on the stumps, driven to mid on.
  • 58.1 Not out! Zaman is safe as the inside edge comes to his rescue. Floats it up on the stumps, Zaman comes half-forward to block but takes a rap on the pads. Luckily for him though, the ball takes the inside edge first but Australia don't seem to spot it. They opt for the DRS and replays show the involvement of the willow. Australia lose both their reviews now.
  • DRS taken. It's for an lbw decision against Fakhar Zaman. Is it out? Maybe some inside edge?
  • Marnus Labuschagne has a change of ends.
  • 57.6 Comfortably done. Blocked down a bit square in front of cover-point. 204/5
  • 57.5 Coming in at first and then straightening up just a shade. Sarfraz looks to defend but it takes the outer half of the bat on the off side.
  • 57.4 Full in length on off stump, a punchy block finds short mid-wicket.
  • 57.3 Very watchful as he keeps bat and pad close together and blocks it back down the track.
  • 57.2 Darted full and outside off, blocked with the full face off the front foot.
  • 57.1 FOUR LEG BYES! Angling in on leg, going further down, Sarfraz looks to flick this fine. Does so, but not off the bat. Paine can't stop it and it races away. Marsh and Tim appeal, but to no avail. Always missing leg stump, that.
  • Mitchell Marsh comes back into the attack.
  • 56.6 Eases this tossed up delivery through mid on. Single to end the over. 200/5
  • 56.5 Loopy and full around off, Fakhar gets low to play the reverse sweep and executes it well through backward point. One run to the total.
  • 56.4 Sarfraz goes down the ground, from the other side this time and takes a single to long off.
  • 56.3 Drives it sensibly to long on and jogs across.
  • 56.2 SIX! First one of the Test. Signs of real aggression from Fakhar after keeping quiet for a while. Sees the flight on the ball so decides to charge out. Gets close to the pitch and smokes it straight back over the bowler's head for a maximum.
  • 56.1 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 55.6 FOUR! Well played. Patiently waits for the ball to come to him, backs away and cuts it late down and across the third man fence for a boundary. 190/5
  • 55.5 Stays right behind the line and keeps it out.
  • 55.4 Works it away with the wrists in front of square leg for one.
  • 55.3 Some drift away as it's landed around off, driven to mid off.
  • 55.2 Finds the gap in the covers this time. Drives it through the area and gets to the other end.
  • 55.1 A little too full outside off, Ahmed digs it out towards covers.
  • Marnus Labuschagne on to bowl now.

  • 53.6 Dabs it away on the off side. Wants the run but won't get it. 181/5

  • 53.2 Backs away to this delivery sliding in, punched square through point for a run.
  • 53.1 Spinning away from around off, blocked off the front foot onto the track.

  • ... Day 1, Session 2 ...
  • The first session of this 2nd Test has been dominated by Australia or should I say, by Nathan Lyon. The offie has had a dream start to this match as he has managed to dismiss four Pakistan batsmen giving away just 12 runs in his 7 overs. After Mohammad Hafeez's unfortunate dismissal, the pair of Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali built a 52-run stand to get the innings back on track. However, soon after, the hosts were simply demolished by Lyon as he took four wickets, also barely missing his hat-trick. Pakistan now find themselves in a deep hole and their well-set opener, Zaman, playing on 49 along with his skipper Sarfraz Ahmed will try to rebuild the innings after the break. Australia and Lyon will look to make further inroads and wrap up the first innings as soon as possible. Join us on the other side of the Lunch break for all the action.
  • 26.6 FOUR! Cracked! The last ball before the break is also not spared by this attacking southpaw. He will score every opportunity he gets. • 23.3 SAFE! The new rule has saved the southpaw. Sarfraz punches this into the cover region and takes off. Zaman is a bit slow starting but responds. The fielder at covers picks it and throws it to Paine who whips the bails off and Zaman is diving to get back into his crease. The umpires go upstairs to see the replays and decide on the run out. Replays show that Zaman drags his bat inside the crease and then the bat bounces up. However, as per the new rule if the bat or batsman has once come inside the crease then he is not out even if the bat bounces again when the bails are taken off. Close call this.
  • Third umpire called for a run out at the striker's end. The batsman in question is Fakhar Zaman.
  • 23.2 Tossed up ball on off, Ahmed defends it coming right forward.

  • 21.4 OUT! Oh, dear! What is happening here? Nathan Lyon has already bagged a 4-fer and he's not even finished 5 overs yet. Absolutely unbelievable what's going on at the moment. A poor shot by Babar as well to be honest. Lyon loops it up outside off, Azam comes out to play the expansive drive and leaves a big gap between bat and pad. It goes right through the gate and disturbs the furniture behind. Pakistan are in a real slump now. Lyon now is the 4th highest wicket-taker for Australia in Test cricket.
  • 21.3 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • Babar Azam is the next man in.
  • 21.2 OUT! There's a spike on Ultra Edge and the on-field call has to be overturned. Lyon on fire here. He tosses this up on middle and off, it turns in as Shafiq looks to defend off the front foot. It goes off the pad and Labuschagne at short leg takes it. The Australians think there's an inside edge as well and they appeal. Umpire S Ravi is unmoved. So, the DRS has been taken and it goes to the third umpire. Replays show there is indeed an edge and Asad has to walk back.

  • 19.6 OUT! Two in two for Nathan Lyon! The turning point of the game? The momentum is surely in Australia's favour now. Switches to around the wicket and tosses the off break around off, Sohail comes forward to push it away and he can't keep it down. Hands a sharp catch to Travis Head at silly point, who takes it well. This is a big wicket for the tourists. 57/3
  • Haris Sohail, the man in form, comes in to bat.
  • 19.5 OUT! GONE! Caught and bowled. Lyon strikes and brings an end to Azhar Ali's stay in the middle. Soft dismissal, really. Short, flat and spinning in from outside off, Azhar Ali comes out and punches it uppishly right back to the bowler. It goes off the inside half and Lyon takes a simple catch. The southpaw flicks it uppishly straight to the man at short mid-wicket. Marnus Labuschagne stationed there tries to catch it with both hands around 6 inches above the ground. The ball hits his palms and drops out. The youngster cannot believe it. An unbelievable catch to dismiss Hafeez and a simple catch dropped.
  • 18.4 Lovely ball this from Jon. He gives it a bit more air but lands it a bit shorter than full length. Zaman comes forward looking to keep it out but the ball spins in sharply. Beats his inside edge and raps him on his back foot and goes to first slip. The Aussies go up in an appeal but not out given. They are not confident enough to go for the DRS and rightly so.

  • Nathan Lyon comes into the attack. Will be interesting to see how much purchase he will get from this first day surface.
  • 12.6 Zaman prods forward again to defend it onto the ground. 41/1
  • 12.5 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 12.4 Good front foot defense by Ali, the ball rolls into the cover region and the pair take a quick single.
  • 12.3 Jaffa! This will encourage the medium pacer. Marsh lands this a bit shorter than a good length and slightly wide of off. Azhar looks to play at it due to the angle but is beaten as the nut deviates away from him on landing. Marsh can be dangerous as he comes up with such deliveries every now and then.
  • 12.2 Good shot this by Zaman. He gets on the front foot and smashes this length ball straight past the bowler. The fielder at mid on does well to chase it down and keep the batsmen to three.
  • 12.1 Marsh bangs it in short, Zaman is patient enough to duck under it.
  • Drinks. Decent start by Pakistan after electing to bat first, however, they would have been happy if Hafeez would have still been there. The opener was a bit unlucky to be caught at short leg off a perfect flick shot. Pakistan would now look to build a strong partnership and go to Lunch without any further damage. Australia on the flip side, will look to get into the Pakistan middle and lower-middle order as soon as possible.
  • 11.6 On the pads again but this time it's the southpaw. May be the right-hand left-hand combo has done the trick. Zaman flicks it into the leg side to take a run. 37/1
  • 11.5 Bit straighter in line, drifting onto the batsman's pads. Ali leans across to flick it into the square leg region to go take a single.
  • 11.4 Ali has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 11.3 FOUR! Classy! Just marginally short of a good length and a bit outside off. Azhar opens his bat face perfectly and gets superb timing on it as it races through the backward point region for a sweet boundary.
  • 11.2 A good length ball this on off, Azhar comes forward to defend it solidly.
  • 11.1 Ali shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 10.6 Azhar flicks this length ball angling into his pads into the mid-wicket region. Crosses over to the other end to retain strike. 31/1
  • 10.5 Bouncer pulled. Zaman seeing the length quickly rocks back and swivels to pull this to deep square leg. Gets a single for it.
  • 10.4 A bit short attacking the stumps, Zaman flicks it away with a wristy shot into the square leg region.
  • 10.3 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 10.2 A full ball on off, driven to mid off.
  • 10.1 Zaman shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 10.1 No ball. But a pretty tight call though. A super ball to start by Marsh except that he has just about overstepped. A good length ball from over the wicket. Lands and nips back in to beats Zaman's inside edge. It almost cut the southpaw in half.
  • Mitchell Marsh comes into the attack.
  • 9.6 A good ball and a solid back foot defense with a straight bat to end a testing over by Siddle. 28/1
  • 9.5 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 9.4 A bit shorter of a good length, angling into Azhar. He flicks it to square leg.
  • 9.3 In the corridor of uncertainty, Azhar does well to play that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 9.2 Very good running by the batsmen. Zaman just taps this good length ball into the cover region and takes off. His partner gives him a good quick response and they steal a quick single.
  • 9.1 FOUR! Stand and deliver. Zaman stands tall to this short of a length ball just outside off and slashes it hard. The ball takes a thick outside edge to fly over the slip cordon for a boundary. Good counter-attacking batting by the southpaw, this.
  • 8.6 FOUR! Wrong line and a delicate touch. Starc dishes this full length ball on Ali's pads. Azhar just delicately glances it fine down the leg side for a boundary. 23/1
  • 8.5 Errs in line Starc. Fires it wide down the leg side, Azhar leaves it alone.
  • 8.4 Defended off the back foot by Ali.
  • 8.3 Rib-tickler again, the southpaw this time swivels well to pull it down to deep fine leg for a single.
  • 8.2 Wide of off, Zaman shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 8.1 FOUR! Super cut! Fractionally short and wide of off. Zaman pounces on it and upper cuts it over the gully region for a smashing boundary.
  • 7.6 Very close leave again. That is some intense Test cricket. Siddle keeps it close to the off stump, angling into Azhar. He leaves it and the nut goes past almost shaving the off stump. At the end, well left! 14/1
  • 7.5 On a good length and a bit too wide outside off, Azhar watchfully leaves.
  • 7.4 Some bounce and height on this. This almost goes over the off stump. It is on a good length outside off. It nips back in sharply and goes over the off pole. Close leave again.
  • 7.3 Similar ball to the first one, easier for the right-hander to shoulder arms.
  • 7.2 Close! That one came back sharply and almost kisses the off stump before going into Paine's mitts. You can say a good leave now, but that was close.
  • 7.1 Good bounce and carry on offer here. Siddle keeps it marginally shorter than a good length just outside off. Azhar does not flirt with it.
  • 6.6 Some chin music for the batsman, the southpaw lets that bouncer through to Paine. 14/1
  • 6.5 Ill-directed bouncer! Starc bangs this in short but gets his angle completely wrong as it strays down leg. Paine does well to swiftly move to his right to pouch it.
  • 6.4 Full and on off, Zaman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 6.3 Very full again, almost a yorker. Dug out with a straight bat by Zaman. Good pace being generated by the left-hand quick.
  • 6.2 Wide of off, Zaman shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 6.1 FOUR! SHOT! Cracking straight drive by Zaman. Very full ball attacking the stumps. Starc looking for some non-existent swing. Zaman punches it straight for a sweet boundary.
  • 5.6 This one lands a bit shorter of a length outside off, Azhar again looks to block it off the front foot but gets the inner half of the bat towards square leg. 10/1
  • 5.5 On a good length around off, defended off the front foot by Azhar.
  • 5.4 Ali has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 5.3 Inside edge onto his pad and onto the ground. Azhar lunges forward to this good length ball on off. It lands and nips back in to get the inside edge. Hits his pads before rolling down towards covers.
  • 5.2 A bit short and outside off, Azhar watchfully lets it go past him.
  • 5.1 Good length ball in the corridor around the off pole, comes forward in a solid defense.
  • 4.6 Wide down the leg side, no trouble at all for the southpaw to leave it alone. 10/1
  • 4.5 Zaman shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 4.4 A bit short of a good length angling into Zaman, the southpaw looks to flick but misses to get hit on the thigh pad.
  • 4.3 A bit wide of off this. Zaman again looks to play at it tentatively but again is beaten by the pace and extra bounce.
  • 4.2 FOUR BYES! Strays way down leg and rising as well, Paine tries to grab it by diving to his right but fumbles and concedes a boundary.
  • 4.1 Beaten! Peach from Starc to start off the new over. Really good carry on that one. Zaman is a bit loose. On a good length just outside off, Zaman did not need to play at it but still tries to get bat on ball. The ball took off and beats Zaman's outside edge.
  • 3.6 Not out! Big inside edge on that. Poor review to be honest. Siddle comes steaming in and lands it on a length just outside off, Azhar Ali is half-forward to defend and the ball hits the front pad. Loud shout which is turned down. It's taken upstairs after a brief chat as Siddle feels the batsman is out. Paine responds and signals the 'T'. Replays, however, show there is an inside edge. So a good decision from the umpire. 6/1
  • The DRS has been taken quickly. It's for an lbw decision against Azhar Ali. Siddle thinks he has his man. Inside edge to the naked eye. Let's see...
  • 3.5 Touch full around off, kept out off the front foot and into the turf.
  • 3.4 Touch short, on the stumps, pulled away into the leg side for a single.
  • 3.3 Comes forward to this fuller length ball and blocks.
  • 3.2 Just ahead of a length, on off, blocked with the full face of the bat.
  • 3.1 Attacks the stumps by pitching it full, Zaman defends it back down the track.
  • Azhar Ali walks in at no.3.
  • 2.6 OUT! That's just stuck! Wow. What a catch. Superb stuff from Marnus Labuschagne. Australia strike early. Starc bowls this full on the pads, Hafeez flicks this aerially and it's hit hard. Labuschagne, however, positioned there reacts quickly as the ball is hit to him. It bounces off his left groin, then goes off the inside of his right knee and he manages to gobble it up falling down before the ball touches the ground. Replays confirm the same. Very well done. 5/1
  • Mohammad Hafeez has been caught out. Marnus Labuschagne has taken an absolute blinder at short leg from the looks of it. The umpire wants to make sure though if it's taken cleanly so it's taken upstairs. The soft signal is out.
  • 2.5 Keeps it short again and makes it go away from the batsman, it's left alone.
  • The physio is out to have a look at Hafeez. The doesn't seem to be looking at the thumb, which is a good sign. He shoulder is the issue, which is definitely hurting. The magic spray is out and it's being treated. Should be fine to continue from the looks of it.
  • 2.4 Scorcher! A searing delivery from Mitchell Starc as he bangs this in short and bangs it hard. Takes Hafeez by surprise who was expecting a full ball. He goes back, can't play at it and it whacks him on the right shoulder, after brushing his thumb.
  • 2.3 Fraction straight in line, worked down on the leg side for nothing.
  • 2.2 FOUR! Not in full control at all, but he gets a boundary for it. Shaping away from a back of a length around off, Hafeez gets it off the outer half and past the diving gully fielder to find the fence.
  • 2.1 Loose from Hafeez. Short and wide, a nothing delivery, Hafeez should have left it but he goes after it and almost nicks it behind.
  • 1.6 Angling across and holding its line, good length delivery, pushed defensively down in front of point. 1/0
  • 1.5 A little bit of shape back from Siddle as it lands on middle and off, Zaman goes hard at it and drives it to mid on.
  • 1.4 Seaming away from outside off, no shot offered from the southpaw.
  • 1.3 Keeps it full once more, blocked out with the full face of the bat.
  • 1.2 Off the inner half. Zaman looks to drive this full delivery but manages to only mistime it to the left of the bowler.
  • 1.1 Full ball attacking the off stump, played back from the front foot.
  • Peter Siddle will share the new ball with Starc. He has two slips and a gully in place.
  • 0.6 Full delivery quite close to off, coming in, Hafeez comes forward and mistimes the drive off the inner half back down the track. 1/0
  • 0.5 Short of a length outside off, left alone once more.
  • 0.4 Good line and good carry on that. Starc lands it on a fuller length outside off and it zips off the deck, Tim Paine behind the stumps collects it at a good height.
  • 0.3 Fires it well wide outside off, moving away, Hafeez has nothing to do with it.
  • 0.2 First runs in Test cricket for Fakhar Zaman. Full in length and outside off, he pushes it through the covers and takes a single to get going.
  • 0.1 Low full toss on the stumps, Zaman drives it back down towards mid on.
  • We are ready to begin. Fakhar Zaman will take strike and he is partnered by Mohammad Hafeez. Mitchell Starc as always to take the new ball first up. He has three slips and a gully in place. Here we go..
  • Team Changes - While Australia are unchanged, Pakistan have two changes and both are debutants. Fakhar Zaman and Mir Hamza come in for the injured Imam-ul-Haq and Wahab Riaz.
  • TOSS - Pakistan win the toss and elect to bat first!
  • Pakistan will be feeling the heat, both figuratively and literally. Having victory elude them, from the position they were in, will have raised questions over Sarfraz' captaincy more than anything else. They threw everything at the Kangaroos, but just couldn't find a crack anywhere. More will be expected of Yasir Shah this time around, as the hosts will hope he can scalp heads like he usually does. Plenty to look forward to. Stay tuned for all the updates.
  • Amidst all the tensions surrounding Australian cricket since the last passage of time, the gruelling contest in Dubai, where the visitors managed to provide a resolute resistance, the draw would be very welcome in the Australian camp. Pakistan were on the verge of a thumping victory, but Usman Khawaja stood tall in between that. He had ample support from Aaron Finch, Travis Head and skipper Tim Paine, who held his own to see the draw out. Hello and welcome, for the final Test of this 2-match series.

Pakistan Vs Australia Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Pakistan are firmly in the driver's seat as things stand. Still a lot of time left in this game, as we're only halfway through the second day. Pretty sure they would like to extend their lead to 400-450 at the very least. Might be difficult, as the track is turning. Will be interesting to see how the Australian bowlers go about their business. And will the Pakistan batsmen stand firm this time out? We'll find out soon when the third innings begins.
  • There were only two instances when Australia looked comfortable. One when Aaron Finch was in the middle and the other when Mitchell Starc provided a flurry of runs with Marnus Labuschagne towards the end. Other than that, no other batsman looked like they had the stomach to put up a fight. Before the end of Day 1, they lost last match's hero Usman Khawaja and nightwatchman Peter Siddle, and today followed more of the same. Not a pretty sight for any Aussie fan as they had to witness another collapse.
  • A wonderful bowling performance from the hosts as they have run right through the Australian batting line-up. Mohammad Abbas leading the charge against the Kangaroos once again, picked up a 5-fer and got things going as he demolished the top order. Shah and Asif joined in sharing 4 wickets between them and wrapped things up.
  • 50.4 OUT! He's gone and that spells the end of the visitors' innings. A 5-wicket haul for Mohammad Abbas, well-deserved. He comes from around the wicket and fires in a yorker on middle and leg, angling in. Starc can't dig it out and it goes behind past the leg stump. Pakistan appeal, because they think it's caught Starc's boot on the way back and take the DRS. It's taken upstairs and replays show that it indeed did and the left-hander is gone. AUSTRALIA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 145 AND CONCEDE A LEAD OF 137 RUNS!
  • Review taken for an lbw decision against Mitchell Starc. Is he gone?
  • 50.3 Short and banged in quite close to off, Starc arches back a bit and places it to backward point.

  • 48.5 Comes around the wicket to the southpaw and fires in a length ball around off, angling in to Starc. Mitchell does well in defending it from his crease.
  • 48.4 Marginally shorter of a good length around off. The ball hits the deck and nips back in slight, thereby taking the inside edge of Jon's bat. The ball rolls down towards square leg and the pair has taken a single.

  • 48.2 Similar ball and kept out safely by the no. 11 batsman off the back foot.

  • 47.6 Driven through mid on for a single. 140/9
  • 47.5 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 47.4 Safe! It is indeed way down leg. Spinning in from around off, gripping and turning, catches Starc on the pads as he goes back to play at it. Big shout but the umpire remains unmoved. Sarfraz though thinks it could be close so he takes the DRS. Replays show it's missing leg stump. A leg bye is taken as the ball rolled away on the leg side.
  • Review taken. It's for an lbw decision against Mitchell Starc. Looks to be going down leg to the naked eye.
  • 47.3 Quicker and shorter outside off, pushed square on the off side.
  • 47.2 SIX! That's gone all the way. Good strike from Mitchell Starc. The wrong 'un outside off, Starc reads it well as he gets low and unleashes the big slog sweep. Connects sweetly and sends it sailing over mid-wicket.

  • 46.6 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground. 132/9
  • 46.5 Tossed up on off, Jon prods forward in a solid defense.

  • 46.3 Almost one more for Bilal. He flights this straighter one on off. Holland plays inside the line to get beaten.
  • Jon Holland is the last man in for Australia.
  • 46.2 OUT! Bowled 'em! Lovely spin bowling from Bilal Asif. He gives it a bit more air and bowls it slower. Lyon goes for the slog sweep but is completely beaten in the flight. He swings his bat a bit too early and the ball crashes into the off pole. Just one wicket more left for Australia.

  • 45.1 The southpaw shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 44.6 Sweep again to end the over but again he finds the fielder. A risky shot for not much of returns this. 128/8
  • 44.5 Fuller and straighter on the stumps, worked down the leg side by Nathan.
  • 44.4 Goes for the sweep again but this one is a bit too full for that shot. He misses and gets rapped on the pads. Given not out though as it is sliding down the leg side.
  • 44.3 Swept again but finds the fielder at square leg.
  • 44.2 Tossed up ball on off, swept to square leg.
  • 44.1 Defended off the front foot by Lyon presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 43.6 Flatter and on middle and leg this. The ball strikes the southpaw very low on the pads. The hosts are asking the question but the umpire isn't interested in the appeal. 128/8
  • 43.5 Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
  • Nathan Lyon comes in to bat next.
  • 43.4 OUT! Run out at the non-striker's end. Really, really unlucky is Labuschagne here. One of the worst ways to get out in cricket. Shah tosses this up on off, Starc drills it straight back to Yasir who tries to stop it but just gets a finger on it before it crashes into the stumps. Pakistan appeal for a run out and the umpire has taken it upstairs. Replays roll in and show that the right-hander is a bit late in planting his bat back in the crease. Labuschagne drops his head down and walks back to the dressing room dejected.
  • 43.4: Y Shah to Starc, OUT! Run out at the non-striker's end. Really really unfortunate is Labuschagne. One of the worst ways you can get out in cricket. Starc drives this tossed up ball on off straight back to the bowler. Yasir gets a finger on it before it crashes into the stumps at the bowler's end. A run out appeal is made by the hosts and umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and show that Yasir has definitely got a finger on it and Labuschagne is a bit late getting his bat down in time. Should have reacted in time. He's gone though and Australia are in deeper trouble. Eight down.
  • 43.3 Goes back quickly to this shortish delivery on off, punches it through point and gets a single.

  • We are all set to get the afternoon session underway as the umpires along with the Pakistan team make their way to the middle. The Aussie pair of Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Starc stride out to the center with the latter taking strike. Bilal Asif will start proceedings and will complete his over.
  • ... Day 2, Session 2 ...
  • Australia were already damaged when Paine was trapped right in front of the wickets by the offie Bilal. Pakistan are all over Australia and will now look to run through them as soon as possible after the break. Labuschagne, for the tourists, will try to get as close as possible to the Pakistan total along with the tail now. Let's see what happens on the other side of the break. Join us for all the action in a short while.
  • A dream session for Pakistan as they have rattled the Aussies by taking 5 wickets giving away just 71 runs in 27.4 overs. The destruction was started today by Abbas when he dismissed both Shaun Marsh and Travis Head quickly. Finch, along with Mitchell Marsh, then started to rebuild the innings but after a cautious 19-run stand, Mitchell fell prey to the guile of Yasir Shah. Bilal Asif was then introduced into the attack and he made an impact immediately taking out Finch at short leg.
  • 34.4 OUT! Umpire's call as it is just about clipping the leg stump. End of a magnificent session for Pakistan. It is a bit quicker and flatter around off, Paine decides to go back and that proves to be his biggest error as the ball lands and spins in prodigiously. Tim looking to block it off the back foot is beaten on the inside and rapped on the pad in front of the stumps. The hosts go up in a big appeal and the umpire raises his finger after thinking for a couple of seconds. Paine thinks it might be sliding down with the spin and hence goes for the review showing the 'T'. Replays roll in and show that the impact is in line and the ball is clipping the leg stump on its way behind. That means a wicket for the home team at the stroke of the break. LUNCH ON DAY 2!
  • Review has been taken against an LBW decision. The batsman in question is Tim Paine. Looks close.

  • 18.2 A bit shorter this around off, Marsh punches it to point off the back foot.

  • 18.1 OUT! Edged and taken at second slip! Fantastic stuff from Abbas. This bowler is taking large strides as he gets another wicket to his name. Keeps it on a good length around off with the natural away angle from over the wicket. Head has to play at it because of the initial line but the ball lands and nips away. • 14.5 Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
  • 14.4 Big appeal, first for the LBW and then for the catch at gully. A bit too high this and no bat involved. Deadly accurate is Abbas and he is asking a lot of questions to the Aussie batsmen. Keeps this one marginally shorter of a good length around off, it hits a crack and deviates in prodigiously to beat Finch's bat on the inside and raps him high on the front pad. The hosts go up in a big appeal but it is given not out by the umpire.

  • Travis Head to bat next.
  • 10.6 OUT! Edged and taken! Shaun Marsh's short stay in the middle comes to an end. It's Mohammad Abbas again who provides the breakthrough for his side. Lands it on off, it moves away ever so late and this becomes Shaun Marsh's undoing. The ball takes the outside edge of his hanging bat and flies to first slip, where Haris Sohail moves to his right and pouches it safely. 36/3
  • 10.5 Nice and tight, full on off, Marsh comes forward and meets it with the full face of the bat.
  • 10.4 Quite full and straight in line, worked down in front of square leg. Bit of a nervous start from Marsh, not looking too confident at the moment.

  • 10.2 On the fuller side of things, on off stump, blocked out with a straight bat.

  • 9.2 Almost dragged it on! That was CLOSE. Wow. Would have been the ideal start for Mir Hamza and Pakistan. It's on a length with some width outside off, Shaun Marsh just wants to crash this through the off side, so he goes back to cut. Ends up getting an inside edge which bounces past the off stump and goes behind towards fine leg. Three runs taken.

  • 8.4 Keeps the line a little straighter, on middle, blocked with the full face of the bat.
  • 8.3 Good length ball close to off, defended from within the crease.
  • 8.2 FOUR! Beautiful. Holding the pose for the cameras too. Full in length and outside off, Aaron Finch leans into the drive and caresses it through the gap in the covers to find the fence.
  • 8.1 Keeps it full and just outside off, driven off the inner half on the leg side.
  • Mohammad Abbas will bowl from the other end.

  • 7.1 Angling across from outside off, a harmless delivery, Finch lets it be.
  • Out come the players to begin things on this hot, sunny day. Aaron Finch strides out with a new partner, Shaun Marsh. Mir Hamza to begin proceedings with the new ball first. Two slips and a gully in place. Here we go...
  • After a 12-wicket first day of this Test ensured that the game has progressed ahead in full speed, it was a roller-coaster ride with both teams winning various passages of play throughout the day and gaining and losing control on the game. In the first hour of the day Nathan Lyon bamboozled the hosts' top order by picking a 4-wicket haul. But then a massive 147-run stand between Zaman and Sarfraz saw them pull things back and even ahead a bit, as Pakistan posted 282 on the board and bagged 2 Aussie wickets before Stumps. They will want to build on that and make further inroads into the Australian batting line-up at the earliest. The Kangaroos, on the flip side, will hope for a solid batting performance today and gain a first innings lead by end of day. It sure is going to be an intense battle to get a better grip on the match.
  • ... Day 2, Session 1 ...
  • Australia have started their innings on a wobbly note. The unfortunate wicket of Khawaja, caught down the leg side, and then the dismissal of the nightwatchman Siddle on the last ball of the day has put the tourists on the back foot. Their batsmen will look to occupy the crease for a longer duration of time on Day 2 and try to get a decent lead. Join us at 1000 local (0600 GMT) for all the action. Cheers!
  • Earlier, Pakistan fought back well after an initial collapse to get their total up to 282. Nathan Lyon was simply unplayable in the first session but made no impact after that. The surprise package of the day was Marnus Labuschagne, who was brought on by Paine to get a breakthrough and that's exactly what he did. The leggie got three and managed to restrict the hosts below 300.
  • A fairly even first day of this Test, however, you can argue that it is slightly tilting in favor of Pakistan. They have managed to close off the day, which did not start on an ideal note for them in the first session, on a high.
  • 6.6 OUT! Abbas strikes on the very last ball of the day. What a brilliant way to end the day for Pakistan. Abbas dishes this on a good length around off, Siddle again looks to block this off from within his crease. The ball hits the deck and deviates into the batsman. It beats Siddle's tentative push on the inside and raps him flush on the pads in front of the stumps. It's very close as Pakistan go up in a huge appeal. Surprisingly, the umpire turns it down. Sarfraz does not wait any time and goes for the review. replays roll in and display three reds on the screen which means that Siddle will not come out to bat tomorrow morning. That is STUMPS ON DAY 1. 20/2
  • Review taken by Pakistan for an LBW decision. The batsman in question is Peter Siddle.
  • 6.5 Attacks the stumps with a good length delivery, Siddle though does well to keep it out from his crease.
  • 6.4 Just too wide of off to entice the batsman into a shot.
  • 6.3 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. Three more to go for the day.
  • 6.2 Fires this full and wide of off, Peter shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 6.1 Bouncer! Gets the short ball to rise sharply onto the batsman. Siddle does well to sway away from the line by leaning back.
  • 5.6 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot. Australia have survived the Yasir threat for the day. 20/1
  • 5.5 Similar ball is dealt with similarly by playing it towards point.
  • 5.4 Goes back to this loopy ball in line with the stumps, Finch taps it into the point region off the back foot.
  • 5.3 Tossed up ball again around off, Finch watchfully blocks it out off the back foot.
  • 5.2 Defended off the front foot by the Aaron presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 5.1 Flighted outside off, Finch shoulders arms to let that one through.
  • 4.6 Abbas attacking the stumps drifts slightly down leg. Siddle plays it down the leg side and picks up a brace for it. 20/1
  • 4.5 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 4.4 Waits for this flatter and a bit shorter ball outside off, opens the bat face and glides it through the point region to get a brace.
  • 4.3 Siddle has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • Peter Siddle, the nightwatchman, comes in to bat.
  • 4.2 OUT! Pakistan have drawn first blood. A bit lucky but this but a really good grab by the Pakistan captain. The hero from the last match has to walk back to the pavilion. Abbas keeps it on a good length on middle and leg and angling into the batsman. Khawaja looks to flick it but the ball takes the faintest of nicks and flies behind down the leg side. Sarfraz dives to his right fully stretched and pouches this low and one handed. The umpires want to check if the catch is clean and they go upstairs with the soft signal as out. Replays roll in and show that the edge carries easily to Sarfraz behind. This is also the 50th Test wicket for Abbas.
  • Both the umpires have a chat regarding a catch down the leg side and decide to go upstairs.
  • 4.1 Abbas starts the over from around the wicket. Lands this full around off, Usman drives it to covers from the crease.
  • 3.6 FOUR! That's smashed away. Tossed up right in the slot, Finch stands his ground and lofts it powerfully over mid off for a boundary. 16/0
  • 3.5 Slows this up as he bowls it full and just outside off, blocked from the front foot.
  • 3.4 Khawaja drills this full delivery down the ground and gets to the other end.
  • 3.3 Darted in full and quick, flicked past short mid-wicket by Finch for a single.
  • 3.2 Walks down the track and flicks it to deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 3.1 Full and quick on off, Usman with a tame push on the off side.
  • 2.6 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery. 9/0
  • 2.5 FOUR! Nudged very fine onto the leg side for the first boundary of the innings. Abbas errs in line and fires this down the leg side. Finch does well to get some bat on it and to tickle it fine down the leg side to cross the rope there.
  • 2.4 Fuller on middle and leg stump line, Finch flicks it away with a wristy shot.
  • 2.3 Big appeal for an LBW, given not out though. That is some good seam bowling from Abbas. He lands this on a good length on off. The ball nips back in to beat Finch's forward defense and rap him on the pads. The Pakistan team go up in an appeal in unison, the umpire refuses and the hosts decide not to go for the review.
  • 2.2 Dishes this a bit fuller on off, Usman drives it towards mid off and gets a quick run for it.
  • 2.1 Continues in that corridor around off, Khawaja has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 1.6 The batsman defends it from within the crease. 4/0
  • 1.5 On a good length again and straight in line with the stumps, Finch flicks it towards square leg.
  • 1.4 Not out. Finch goes for the pull to this short of a length ball angling into his body. The ball though rises a bit more than he expects on him. Gets the gloves and rolls fine towards fine leg. The batsmen run back for a second as the fielder throws it back to Sarfraz who takes the bails off and appeals for a run out. Replays show that Finch is comfortably in.
  • The third umpire called into action for a run out appeal against Aaron Finch. He looks safe though.
  • 1.3 Fires this one on his pads, Finch works it onto the leg side.
  • 1.2 A bit fuller and outside off, Finch drives this through covers to get a brace.
  • 1.1 Starts with a good length ball around off from over the wicket. Finch defends off the back foot and with a straight bat.
  • Mir Hamza to bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. 0/0

  • 0.4 Stays back and keeps it out off the back foot.
  • 0.3 A bit further away from the off stick, another leave from the batsman.
  • 0.2 Shaping away from around off, on a good length once more, Khawaja lets it be.
  • 0.1 Length delivery on middle and off, Khawaja defends it well from inside the crease.

Pakistan Vs Australia Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • There's still about 12 overs left in the day and Pakistan will look to scalp at least a couple of wickets before the end of the day. Pakistan had a good day with the bat. They had a firm lead to begin with and they capitalized on that with everyone chipping in. Babar fell agonizingly short of what would have been a well-deserved ton, while Sarfraz scored consecutive fifties. The hosts are in a dominant position though, and it all boils down to how the Aussies see this last phase of Day 3 out. Don't go anywhere, the final innings will begin shortly.
  • And there comes the call from the dressing room. PAKISTAN HAVE DECLARED AND SET A TARGET OF 538 for Australia. Everyone was expecting it to come much sooner, though it seems like the skipper was waiting to get to a hundred. Since he couldn't, the call was made almost instantly.

  • 118.3 Turning in from around off, Hamza defends from within the crease.
  • Mir Hamza is the last batsman in for Pakistan.
  • 118.2 OUT! Even the skipper misses out on a ton. A good knock though nonetheless. Labuschagne floats it up on off, it turns slightly as Sarfraz gets low to sweep. Gets caught on the front pad and the appeal goes up, soon followed by the finger. The Pakistan captain signals the 'T' and it's taken upstairs. Replays show the ball to be clipping the off stump. Barely. Unfortunate for the skipper. He misses out on another ton. The lead is of 537.

It lands and nips back in ever so slightly to beat the inside edge of Babar's bat. He is looking to play at it from the crease, he is not forward nor is he on the back foot. The ball hits him on the knee roll and Australia go up in a huge appeal. The umpire immediately raises his finger as it looks very close but the right-hander still goes for the review, in hope more than anything else. Replays roll in and show three reds and that means bad news for Babar Azam. He walks back after a wonderful innings though.

  • ... Day 3, Session 2 ...
  • On the other hand, Australia look like they are just going through the motions now, waiting for Pakistan to declare. Their bowlers, especially Nathan Lyon, have tried to get them some quick wickets but luck did not favor the offie much. However, their main concern will be the fitness of Mitchell Starc as he has not bowled a single ball yet. Will he be brought into the attack after the break needs to be seen. Join us in a short while.
  • 29 overs , 88 runs and 2 wickets means that the session belongs to the hosts. Pakistan have cruised along to a lead of 369 with 6 wickets still intact. It will be interesting to see when do they declare as a lot of time is still remaining in this match. The hosts have lost both their overnight batsmen. First Haris Sohail was dismissed by Lyon and then a brain fade moment from Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq resulted in a comical run out of the former.

The umpire negates the LBW appeal but Australia are reviewing. Replays roll in and show that it would have missed the leg stump. Australia have lost their review.
  • Review has been taken for an LBW decision. The batsman in question is Asad Shafiq.

  • 59.3 Goes back and punches into the cover region to get off strike.
  • 59.2 These either stick or don't. Azam skips down the track and looks to whack this full ball over the mid-wicket region. Labuschagne at short leg anticipates as the ball is in the air and moves towards his left. As he is moving the ball is now flying past his right side, brushing his fingers. • 52.4 Stays behind this one and keeps it out.
  • Babar Azam to bat next.
  • 52.3 OUT! Absolute comical scenes here! Oh, dear! Oh, boy! Can't believe what we've witnessed here. Don't think I've ever seen a dismissal like this before. Full and outside off, Azhar Ali reaches out to it and gets an edge down towards third man. The ball is rolling towards the fence, but it stops just inside the rope. Starc jogs towards the ball and throws it back in. Here's the thing though, both batsmen are unaware that the ball has stopped inside the rope as they don't pay attention. They meet in the middle and talk about what they'll do on the next ball. Tim Paine sees this, gets to the stumps and as the throw from Starc comes in, he takes the bails off. Ali and Shafiq are found shocked. The former departs as he was still on the danger side of the crease. He can't believe it. Australia needed a dismissal and it's come in the most ridiculous forms. Incredible.

  • 51.4 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 51.3 Dropped? Was there an inside edge. On initial look it seemed like there was but replays prove us wrong. No bat there and no harm done. Tossed up ball around off, Shafiq comes forward looking to defend. The ball dips, turns and bounces much higher than the batsman expects it to. It seems like it has taken a thick inside edge onto the pads and lobbed to the left of the short leg fielder. Labuschagne there dives to his left and tries to snatch at the ball and does not hold onto it. Replays later though show it was only the front pad there.
  • 51.2 Flighted on off, dances down the track and flicks it to mid-wicket.
  • 51.1 Over the wicket to the right-hander, tossed up a bit and wide of off turning back in. Asad does well to go back and steer it through the third man region for a couple.

  • 49.3 Flighted ball on off, comes forward to block it out.
  • Asad Shafiq is the new man in.
  • 49.2 OUT! How clever and wily is this offie? He was a bit unlucky yesterday evening but has made an impact early today. He flights this on off, Sohail skips down the track looking to go over Nathan. Swings his bat and gets beaten as the ball spins past his outside edge inside Sarfraz's mitts. He whips the bails off as Sohail watches himself get dismissed. A 48-run partnership has been ended.
  • 49.1 The right-hander quickly gets off strike, sweeps to square leg and crosses over to the other end.
  • 48.6 A bit fuller around off, Azhar does well to stride forward and drive it on the up through covers for three more. 153/2
  • 48.5 FOUR! Crack! First boundary of the morning, also 150 comes up for the hosts. Short and wide outside off and this time Ali takes full toll of it by cutting it fiercely through backward point for a boundary.

  • 47.3 Similar to the first ball, Sohail this time though does not commit to a shot and hangs his bat inside the line of the ball.
  • 47.2 Fuller in length but a bit wide of off, Haris leans forward and keeps it out.
  • 47.1 Beaten! Beauty from Nathan. A bit quicker and straighter, pitches on middle. Haris looking to block from his crease is beaten because of the prodigious spin away from him.
  • 46.6 Second maiden in a row, keeps it wide of off, Ali does not offer a shot. 146/2
  • 46.5 Wide of off again, Ali is in no rush, leaves it.
  • 46.4 A good length ball on off, Ali comes forward a bit and defends.
  • 46.3 Fractionally shorter than a good length, it lands and nips back in. Ali trying to punch it through the covers gets a bottom edge onto the ground.
  • 46.2 Similar length but a bit wide of off. Azhar shoulders arms.
  • 46.1 Good ball by Siddle. Attacking that corridor of uncertainty, Ali is confident in his block from within the crease.
  • 45.6 Nathan starts with a maiden. Haris lets the ball go outside his off stump. 146/2
  • 45.5 Loopy delivery on off, Sohail prods forward in defense.

  • Nathan Lyon to share the attack.
  • 44.6 Too wide of off, Ali lets it be. 146/2
  • 44.5 Short of a good length on off, defended off the back foot by Ali.
  • 44.4 Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
  • 44.3 Azhar chooses to leave the ball outside his off stump. That kept low and was pretty close to the off stump.
  • 44.2 Ali flicks it away with a wristy shot in the square leg region for a brace.
  • 44.1 Starts the day with a length ball on off, tapped into the point region.
  • We are ready to begin play as the umpires and players make their way out to the middle. The Pakistan pair of Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail strides out to the center. Peter Siddle to start the proceedings for the Aussies.
  • A little recap of Day 2's affairs - Mohammad Abbas was on fire in the Abu Dhabi heat, which got his side a healthy 137-run lead. Then Fakhar Zaman scored another fifty on his debut and Azhar Ali followed suit (remaining unbeaten). Pakistan, who are 281 runs ahead at the moment, will hope to get close to 400. Australia, as difficult as it may be, will attempt to wrap them up under 350. Let's see how it all unfolds.
  • Pakistan are well ahead in this Test match now, and on the verge of victory, unless something drastic happens. If Australia weren't in a hole already, their troubles will deepen if Mitchell Starc doesn't come out to bowl. He didn't bowl in the final session of the second day and was even off the field for some time. Australia will hope he's fit and ready today. Hello and welcome for Day 3 of this Test in Abu Dhabi.
  • ... Day 3, First Session ...
  • Australia are going to have a long day tomorrow if the other bowlers, especially Jon Holland, don't step it up. They were bamboozled earlier in the day for 145 by a relentless Mohammad Abbas and now find themselves in a ditch. From how things stand, just seems like a question of how much of a lead does Sarfraz deem enough. Join us at 1000 local (0600 GMT) for all the action from Day 3. See you then!
  • Satisfying day for the hosts. Ali and Sohail walk off the field and into the dressing room where they are greeted by a smiling Sarfraz Ahmed. The lead has swelled a lot already, with it expected to go up even more. Twin fifties from Fakhar Zaman on debut and an unbeaten fifty from Azhar Ali has put Pakistan in a comfortable position. Nathan Lyon was the only one looking threatening, and he was quite unfortunate not to bag more wickets than he did as he almost drew edges and catches went inches wide on several occasions.
  • 43.6 Spinning into the batsman, Azhar Ali flicks it past short leg, towards square leg and takes a single. End of a fine day for Pakistan as the lead is extended to 281. STUMPS ON DAY 2! 144/2
  • 43.5 Turned past short leg again. Can't beat mid-wicket though.
  • 43.4 Turning in on off, Ali is forward as he flicks it past short leg towards mid-wicket.
  • 43.3 Straighter one on middle and off, defended with the full face of the bat.
  • 43.2 Short, flat and quick outside off, goes off the outer half behind square on the off side for a single.
  • 43.1 Nathan Lyon seems just unlucky here. Beautiful shape on it. Comes in first and then spins away from around off, beats the outside edge of Sohail's bat. Barely. Paine collects and lets out a frustrated grunt.
  • Lyon to bowl the final over of the day.
  • 42.6 Not out! Azhar Ali survives. He was too far out of his crease and the 3m rule saved him. It was umpire's call, so the on-field call stays. Tossed up on middle and Ali comes down the track to defend. The ball takes the pad first before the bat and there's an appeal that goes up. The umpire denies it but the Aussies review it. Replays show the batsman is safe. The review isn't lost though. 142/2
  • A review is taken by Australia for an lbw decision against Azhar Ali.
  • 42.5 Takes a step out of the crease and pushes it back to the bowler.
  • 42.4 Brings his bat ahead of his pad and defends it from within the crease.
  • 42.3 Full and slow, outside off, driven to short extra cover.

  • 41.3 Landed outside off, Haris makes a watchful leave as the ball goes away from him.
  • 41.2 Fuller in length on off stump, blocked.
  • 41.1 Is that out? Everyone's appealed. Will Tim Paine take the DRS? No. He doesn't. Lyon comes from around the wicket and floats it up around off, it turns away and beats the outside edge of Sohail's bat. Paine doesn't review as the replays show there's a big gap between bat and ball.
  • 40.6 Has to reach again a bit, not quite close to the pitch but he still keeps it away from danger. 138/2
  • 40.5 The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.

  • 40.2 Comes half-forward and defends it with a straight bat.
  • 40.1 Fuller around off, blocked with the full face of the bat.
  • 39.6 29th Test fifty for Azhar Ali! His first one after 8 innings. He would have been craving for that. Will feel quite pleased and relieved now. He works this down towards mid-wicket and takes a single. 138/2

  • 38.2 Maintains his ground inside the crease and works it in front of short leg.

  • 37.6 The off break, turning in, flicked straight to short mid-wicket. 133/2
  • 37.5 Makes use of the feet to get close to the pitch and then defends.
  • 37.4 Looped up and in line of the stumps, Azhar comes on the front foot and defends it out.

  • 35.5 A gentle push through extra cover. Earns him a single.
  • 35.4 Stays inside the line of this one and works it away on the leg side.
  • 35.3 Once again Pakistan have the rub of the green going their way. Sohail comes out of the crease to loft it down the ground but ends up slicing it over a leaping Mitchell Starc at backward point. Three runs collected.
  • 35.2 Better. This time Haris gets right behind the line and meets it with the full face.
  • 35.1 Edged and short. Australia can't seem to catch a break. Spinning away from around off, it takes the outside edge of Haris Sohail's hanging bat. Falls just short of Finch at first slip who gets low to his left to take it.
  • 34.6 Loopy and full, slower through the air outside off, Azhar lets it go as it spins away from him. 126/2

  • Harris Sohail is the new man in.

  • ... Day 2, Session 3 ...
  • Australia might have got a wicket, but they needed much more than that. Pakistan are well and truly on top as they have scored 51 runs with Fakhar Zaman looking quite fluid once again. The lead has swelled to 188, with plenty more sure to come. The Aussies will have to scalp wickets fast if they want to have any chance of getting something out of this game. The final session will begin in a short time. Don't go anywhere...

  • 6.1 Seaming across from a good length, the batsman covers the line and lets it go.
  • 5.6 Quicker one darted in on the stumps, kept out tightly by the left-hander. 30/1
  • 5.5 Comes out of the crease and turns it through square leg for one.
  • 5.4 FOUR! Swept and swept away well. It's tossed up on middle and leg, Ali gets low and brings out the broom, to place it through backward square leg and find the fence.
  • 5.3 Straighter one outside off, left alone.
  • 5.2 Sharp turn. Spins in a long way from outside off, Azhar Ali goes back to defend but is caught high on the thigh pad, outside the line of off stump.
  • 5.1 Turn straightaway from Lyon. A good sign for him. Spinning in on middle and off, Azhar is forward as he turns this towards short fine leg.
  • Nathan Lyon is into the attack now. He got 4 wickets in 6 balls in the first innings. Australia will hope he can produce something similar right now as well.
  • 4.6 FOUR! Too straight from Starc. Bowls a back of a length ball on middle and leg, Zaman gets inside the line and pulls it through backward square leg for another boundary. 25/1
  • 4.6 No ball and FOUR! A loose full toss from Mitchell Starc, outside off, easy pickings for Fakhar Zaman as he drives it through the big gap in the covers for a boundary. Starc overstepped, so he'll have to reload.
  • 4.5 Full delivery on middle and leg, Zaman goes at it with hard hands and drives it to mid on.
  • 4.4 On the pads, Ali flicks it down to fine leg for a single and gets off the mark.
  • 4.3 Bumper on middle, at 142 clicks, Azhar Ali ducks and evades.
  • Azhar Ali is next in at no.3.
  • 4.2 OUT! GONE! That catching cover fielder has come into play. This will bring a smile to the Australians' faces. Starc pitches it fuller outside off, Hafeez just checks his drive for some reason and as a result, chips it straight to Travis Head at short extra cover. Soft dismissal, much like the first innings, for Hafeez. Not the ideal day for the birthday boy.
  • 4.1 Goes full, searching for the yorker, swings it back in and Zaman flicks it through mid-wicket. It will get him three good runs.
  • 3.6 Too straight in line, easy enough for The Professor to clip it behind square leg and collect a brace. 12/0
  • 3.5 Length delivery in the channel outside off, arms are shouldered to it.
  • A short mid-wicket in place for Hafeez.
  • 3.4 On middle and leg, coming into the batsman, Zaman manages to flick it behind square on the leg side off the inner half. Single taken.
  • 3.3 Sharp bumper from Siddle, on middle and off. Zaman initially looks to play at it but then decides to arch back and evade it.
  • 3.2 Angling back in on middle stump, on a full length, flicked hard through the mid-wicket area for a double.
  • 3.1 Full outside off, driven to mid off with a high backlift.
  • 2.6 Angling away, outside off, no shot offered by the right-hander. 7/0
  • 2.5 Length delivery aiming the top of off stump, Hafeez rises and taps it down square on the off side from the outer half. Rushes and manages to come back for the second.
  • 2.4 Seaming in, on middle and leg, worked down in front of short mid-wicket.
  • 2.3 Beaten! Landing on off and going away with the angle, Hafeez is half-forward as he looks to defend inside the line. Beaten past the outside edge.
  • 2.2 Full and wide outside off, Hafeez has plenty of room as he drives it square through point. It doesn't go all the way, but it's enough to fetch him a couple.
  • 2.1 Full delivery swinging back in around off, Hafeez plants his front foot forward to drive, but gets it off the inner half on the leg side.
  • 1.6 Bouncer! The batsman ducks under the bouncer at the last moment. 3/0
  • 1.5 Rising sharply from a length on middle and leg, blocked from the crease to the left of the bowler.
  • 1.4 Fraction straight in line as it's angling in, Zaman works it away in front of square leg and comes back for the second.
  • 1.3 Just outside off, on a good length, blocked away on the off side.
  • 1.2 Shaping away from around off, on a good length, dabbed to point with an open face.
  • 1.1 Full in length just outside off, driven to mid off for no run.
  • Peter Siddle to bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6 Stifled shout, turned down. Height being the issue. Length delivery rising off the surface, Hafeez can't put bat on ball and is caught high on the thigh pad. 1/0
  • 0.5 Hafeez taps this down in front of covers and takes off as he wants the run. Is sent back in time as the fielder is quick to the ball. Good call.
  • 0.4 Yorker on the stumps, dug out well by Hafeez to keep it at bay.
  • 0.3 Well outside off, left alone for the keeper to collect.
  • 0.2 Fuller in length on middle and leg, flicked down towards fine leg by Zaman to get going with a single.
  • 0.1 Full and fired just outside off, pushed away off the front foot in front of covers.

Pakistan Vs Australia Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Test series done and dusted! Next stop? The T20I series, which begins on October 24. Before that, Australia take on UAE on Monday, October 22 in Abu Dhabi itself, at 2 pm local (1000 GMT). Big moment for the latter. Do join us then. In the meanwhile, you can do some globe trotting and check out the matches being played in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • 'TROPHY AAPKI !' says Ramiz Raja to a jubilant Sarfraz Ahmed, which means that the trophy is yours. The Pakistan team get into a huddle and there are smiles all around as the trophy is lifted. They thoroughly deserve this. They have been the dominant team throughout and should have won the series 2-0 but well, 1-0 is not bad. Australia have a lot of soul searching to do but unfortunately, they do not have much time, as their next Test is back home, where the conditions will be totally different. So even if they did learn lessons from this debacle, hard to see how they will use and apply those.
  • Victorious Pakistan captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, says that he is fine now and had gone to the hospital due to concussion issues. Agrees that his 147-run stand with Zaman changed the tempo while Mohammad Abbas set up the win for them. Praises the debutant Fakhar for scoring 50-plus in both the innings but overall, he says that whoever played from the squad has done well. Which means, he adds, that the bench strength is really strong - only proper grooming is needed. On his own knock, he says that it is always important for a captain to perform which can motivate the team. On the upcoming T20I series, Sarfraz says that Australia are known to be a good T20I unit and they recently played against each other in Zimbabwe, where Pakistan did well. Stresses that the unit needs to do well in that format as well to challenge the Aussies.
  • Australian skipper, Tim Paine, admits that the first innings was where the match was lost - especially after Australia had Pakistan on the mat at 55/5. Feels that his bowlers did decently on that wicket, getting Pakistan all out twice (actually took 19 wickets) and blames the batsmen for the big loss. Rues the defensive technique for not being able to guts it out in the middle. Says further that they will go back to the dressing room and identify all the weak and strong points but is very disappointed that the team could not build on from the fight in Dubai. Says that there are a few positives in spite of the loss, citing Nathan Lyon as the biggest plus.
  • MOHAMMAD ABBAS HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH FOR HIS 10-WICKET HAUL AND MAN OF THE SERIES FOR 17 SCALPS. He is thankful to his stars and dedicates his performance to his daughter, whose birthday it was yesterday. On his bowling performance, he says that he just worked on his strengths, saw some videos about his lengths and lines, then worked on the weaknesses of the Aussie batsmen. Stresses that he just stuck to the basics, hitting a consistent line and length. Feels over the moon on getting his first 10-wicket haul, after missing out in England. On being asked about playing one-day cricket, Abbas says that if Pakistan want him to play ODIs, he is more than happy to do so.
  • So who do you think should be the Man Of The Match? Fakhar Zaman - for half centuries in both innings, or captain Sarfraz, who took the bull by the horns with his side reeling at 57/5 in the first innings or the man who is the talk of the town - Mohammad Abbas? Stay tuned for the presentation...
  • Talk about Pakistan - they nearly threw the advantage away after winning the toss but that 147-run stand between debutant Fakhar and captain Sarfraz turned the tides. Both were unlucky to miss out on their tons but had done enough damage on the Aussies who were tired in the heat. And then, on a lifeless pitch, Mohammad Abbas turned it up. A 10-fer in his 10th Test, which is actually commanding, considering that majority of his wickets have either come on highways or dust-bowls.
  • Whenever the Kangaroos travel, they kind of get a hiding. Does not matter who the opposition is. Their batting does not turn up while the same bowlers who roar back home, seem clueless for hours. Here, in the first innings, it was still a terrific effort to bowl out Pakistan on Day 1. However, inability to score even 200 saw them concede a big lead and come the second innings, well it was no surprise.
  • The Australians meanwhile, look downcast and glum. Totally outplayed but it is not the first time, is it? Beaten by Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, then by India in India, beaten by Bangladesh too, in Bangladesh and now a drubbing here. They came to the Middle East in 2014, lost heavily in both games and come 2018, the result has not been much different, save aside a last day fight in the first Test.
  • Whom do we see here? It is Sarfraz Ahmed. And straightaway the instructions come out as he shakes hand with coach Mickey Arthur. 'CHALO!' he yells, though with a smile, to his team mates. It is his first Test series win as a captain (Minimum 2 Tests). Does not look overjoyed but boy, he cannot hide his glee.
  • 49.4 OUT! Edged and taken! VICTORY FOR PAKISTAN BY 373 RUNS! 4th biggest defeat for Australia in terms of runs and the biggest by that margin in Asia. Full and outside off, Holland looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge which flies straight to Haris Sohail at second slip. The celebrations begin and now come the handshakes. PAKISTAN WIN THE 2-MATCH SERIES 1-0!!!
  • 49.3 Floated outside off, Holland pushes inside the line and gets beaten.
  • 49.2 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 49.1 Full and around off, watchfully defended,
  • 48.6 Outside off, dabbed past gully towards third man. Three runs taken. 164/8
  • 48.5 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 48.4 A bouncer now, Holland ducks.
  • 48.3 Defended off the back foot by the batsman. One run added to the total.
  • 48.2 A short ball, down the leg side, Nathan looks to pull but misses.
  • 48.1 A short ball, pulled away for a brace.
  • 47.6 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground. 158/8
  • 47.5 Full and down the leg side, Lyon tickles it fine. Three runs taken.
  • 47.4 On middle and leg, punched back to the bowler.
  • 47.3 Around off, defended watchfully.
  • 47.2 Around off, pushed towards cover.
  • 47.1 Full and outside off, driven towards mid off.
  • 46.6 Full and outside off, pushed towards mid off. 155/8
  • 46.5 A bouncer outside off, left alone.
  • 46.4 Full and outside off, pushed towards mid off.
  • 46.3 IN THE AIR... JUST FALLS SHORT OF GULLY! A short ball, around middle, Holland looks to tuck it to the leg side but the bounce does him in. Takes the top edge but does not carry to gully.
  • Jon Holland is the last man in because Usman Khawaja will not come out to bat.
  • 46.2 OUT! Abbas gets his 10-fer. What a spell of bowling from the fast bowler. It was short of a length outside off, Marnus Labuschagne caught by surprise, tried to pull it but got the bottom edge and it was an easy catch to the keeper. Marnus Labuschagne takes the review but the Ultra Edge shows there is a spike when the ball passes the bat and he has to go back disappointed. The ball got big on him. Australia are 8 down. Missed out on a deserving half century.
  • Caught behind! Is that the end of Labuschagne? He has been given out caught but it has been reviewed.
  • 46.1 Abbas starts of with a back of a length delivery on middle, Marnus defends it on the back foot.
  • Mohammad Abbas to continue.
  • 45.6 The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot. 155/7
  • 45.5 Full and outside off, Lyon looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge past gully.
  • 45.4 Outside off, left alone.
  • 45.3 Full and around off, watchfully defended.
  • 45.2 MISSED EVERYTHING! Or did it? Replays seem to indicate that was wicket number 8. Floated generously around middle, Lyon looks to flick but misses. Now, to the naked eye, it seemed like it missed the bat and pad. However, replays show that the ball hit on the boot while Hawk Eye showed it to be hitting the leg stump! Pakistan did not appeal at all because they probably did not realize that the ball hit the boot at all.
  • 45.1 Tossed up outside off, Lyon gets a good stride forward and lets it go.
  • The players are back out in the middle. Yasir Shah to start off proceedings after the break. Nathan Lyon to face. Here we go...
  • Welcome back to a still overcast, but slightly better-looking Abu Dhabi. The clouds are still hovering but there is a significant patch of blue as well. The drizzle has stopped completely.
  • ... DAY 4, FINAL SESSION ??? ...
  • What now for Australia? They have got a good whole hour to ponder on what to do. Nothing much can be expected from the tail-enders, except maybe a bit of a rearguard action. Could they hang around to help Labuschagne get to his 50? Then probably his century? If they do that, it could put some healing on the wounds. Join us back at 1330 local (0930 GMT) for all the action from the second session.
  • Just as we thought that Abbas would be the sole wicket taker today, Yasir Shah joined the party towards the end of the session with two scalps to his name. With the way the pitch is turning, he might be the sole obstacle in Abbas' path to get a fifer.
  • Australia started Day 4 nicely, scoring runs in boundaries. They scored 24 runs in 6 overs before the deadly spell of Mohammad Abbas came about. He struck in his 4th over and got 4 wickets in the space of 18 balls. At that point of time, it looked like the Aussies would get rolled over in the first session itself but Mitchell Starc and Marnus Labuschagne got a decent partnership going.
  • What a session. 33 overs, 108 runs and 6 WICKETS. Given the way Abbas was bowling, it looked like we will never have a second session at all.
  • 44.6 On the pads, Labuschagne misses out, flicking it straight to square leg. LUNCH ON DAY 4! 155/7
  • 44.5 Full and just outside off, well blocked out.
  • 44.4 Full and straight, well blocked out.
  • 44.3 Full and outside off, watchfully defended.
  • 44.2 The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot.
  • 44.1 Full on middle, flicked towards deep mid-wicket for a couple.
  • 43.6 On middle and leg, flicked towards short leg who has a shy at the stumps and hits them. Deflects the ball behind but the batsmen do not run. 153/7
  • 43.5 Around off, defended from the crease.
  • 43.4 Short and in line of the stumps, cut through sweeper cover for a single.
  • 43.3 The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket.
  • 43.2
