  • Thus, 285 to win. There is a some sort of resemblance to the previous game. Australia should be confident of chasing this down like they did in the last match but it will come to how the pitch behaves as well as how the dew comes or does not. Shoaib Malik will know the bowlers will have to do better than last time to defend this total against Finch and co. Will they? Join us for the chase in a while...
  • The innings initially began poorly for Pakistan with Jhye Richardson picking up two early wickets. Two more fell against the run of play and it looked like Australia had the upper hand at the middle of the innings mark. Pakistan played it smartly post that, when the last recognized real batting pair of Malik and Rizwan added a solid partnership. Post that, when it was expected of them to end well, they fell and Australia would be happy that they are chasing less than 300. Coming to the bowling, the away side would be relieved that the injury to Jhye did not come back to haunt them and Aaron Finch bowling 10 overs for just 41 runs was a bonus and he got the wicket of Haris Sohail as well. The rest too did decently and did not ever allow the hosts to get too many.
  • This game has finished round about a total that the previous game had too. A little difference this time was that Pakistan will be really happy to have reached here after being 4 down for just a few runs over 100. A solid century partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and Shoaib Malik meant that they did have a launchpad to finish this innings off solidly. Rizwan reached his hundred and wanted to go on to make it a daddy hundred. That though did not exactly turn out to happen as the Aussies picked a few wickets at the end. Some lusty blows from Imad Wasim in the end meant that Pakistan at least got over 280.
  • 49.6 Shorter and slower delivery on middle, Yasir goes for the pull but gets it off the inside edge and it goes to the keeper. No run on the last ball and PAKISTAN END WITH 284/7.
  • 49.5 A short delivery which has been pulled away. They pick up a single.
  • 49.4 FOUR! A six and now a four! Full toss outside off, Wasim connects on it well and drives it past a diving mid off for a boundary. 10 runs off 2 balls, Pakistan finishing strongly.
  • 49.3 SIX! A length ball on middle, Wasim stands tall and tonks this one way over deep mid-wicket. Useful runs these coming off Imad's bat.
  • 49.2 Short ball on the shoulders, Yasir pulls it but the ball takes the inside edge and goes straight into the ground. They go for the run and Stoinis runs hard and kicks the ball onto the stumps. The umpire takes it upstairs and replays show Imad was well in.
  • Run out appeal taken upstairs... Imad Wasim though looks like he was in easily.
  • 49.1 Full ball outside off, Imad goes for the heave but gets an inside edge down to short fine leg for a single.
  • 48.6 Fuller one outside off, driven down to long off for a single by Wasim as he keeps strike. 271/7
  • 48.5 FOUR! Good, smart batting! A short length ball outside off, Wasim upper cuts it over the backward point region for a boundary.
  • Yasir Shah is next to bat.
  • 48.4 OUT! This time a half-volley gets the wicket! Coulter-Nile will consider himself lucky. A fuller length ball outside off, Ashraf looked to smash it over long on again but can only get it as far as Handscomb at long on. He is kicking himself as he goes off the field.
  • 48.3 SIX! Faheem has picked the bones out of this one! A length ball outside off, he spreads his arm and smashes it over long on for a biggie!
  • 48.2 A half-volley this time but Wasim cannot make use of it. The ball is mistimed as Imad looks to lift it over long on but manages only to hit it past the bowler with no power.
  • 48.1 Yorker on middle, Feheem can only dig it out towards mid-wicket for a single. Excellent delivery!
  • 47.6 Similar to the fourth ball but this time it's Ashraf. Bowls it full this time outside off, Ashraf goes the drive but gets an inside edge onto his pads. The ball rolls to the covers and they steal a single. 258/6
  • Faheem takes off his helmet and a little bit to compose himself. He does look a little rattled by that and will also need to change the head gear as it's strap is broken. Some time to regain his bearings as well...
  • 47.5 That's hit him hard! Ashraf goes to pull this short ball but is too early on that as the ball goes past his bat and hits him hard on the helmet. He looks to be fine but takes some time to recover. Change of helmet for him.
  • 47.4 Bowls it in the block hole outside off, Imad goes for the drive but it hits the inside half of the bat and and hits his pads. They steal a run.
  • 47.3 Another one full and wide outside off, this time Wasim throws his bat at it but fails to make any contact.
  • 47.2 Short length ball on middle, Faheem mistimes his pull towards deep backward square leg for a single.
  • 47.1 Outside off on a short length, Ashraf looks to cut the ball but fails to put bat on ball.
  • Marcus Stoinis to bowl the 48th over.
  • 46.6 Full ball this time, Imad goes down the track but fails to connect on the one. The ball clips his pads and goes straight back to the bowler. 255/6
  • 46.5 Back of a length ball pitching outside leg, Ashraf goes for the flick but is beaten by the pace of the ball. The ball hits his pads and goes to the fine leg region. One run taken. Leg bye signaled.
  • Imad Wasim is the next batsman.
  • 46.4 OUT! After a long time, the third umpire rules the decision in the favour of the bowling team. The replays are inconclusive says the third umpire after watching many slow-mos. He then proceeds to say that there is no movement of the skirting in the replays that he sees and hence, rules it as out. A length ball on middle, Rizwan lifts it to long on where Maxwell leaps and takes a good catch. He realises he is too close to the rope and hence throws the ball up, goes outside and then comes back in to complete the catch. There is a need to check this by the umpires and they go upstairs showing the soft signal as out. The replays roll in and the third umpire too stays with the soft signal as there is no evidence to turn over the decision. Good job by the Big Show. Rizwan walks back after a really good knock.
  • The umpires have taken it upstairs, to check for a catch that Maxwell has taken on the boundary rope. He doesn't seem too confident though. The umpires have given the soft signal as out!
  • 46.3 This time, Rizwan hits this fuller length ball towards mid off. Fails to find the gap and missed out on a half-volley.
  • 46.2 FOUR! Two in two! A length ball on middle again, a kind of nothing length to bowl at this time. Rizwan pulls it away hard and beats a diving deep mid-wicket fielder for a boundary.
  • 46.1 FOUR! A length ball on middle, Rizwan comes inside the line of the ball and scoops it through the right of the short fine leg for a boundary.
  • Nathan Coulter-Nile is back on.
  • 45.6 Tossed up on off, Ashraf gets a leading edge on that one but it falls just short of the cover fielder. 246/5
  • 45.5 FOUR! LUCKY! Edged but above the first slip fielder! Ashraf goes for the reverse sweep on this short ball but gets a thick top edge which goes past the jumping slip fielder who misses to get hands on the ball. The ball goes to the fence.
  • 45.4 Ashraf pushes this one to the covers.
  • 45.3 Tossed up outside off, Rizwan goes for the sweep but gets hit on the pads. Lyon has a loud appeal and the keeper joins him. Replays show the ball was turning in and going down leg. One run scored.
  • 45.2 Floated ball outside off, Faheem sweeps it to deep backward square leg and changes strikes.
  • 45.1 Flatter on middle, Rizwan drops the ball towards cover and sets off for a quick run. Finch there reaches the ball really quickly and throws at the bowler's end but hits the batsman's bat. Could have been close had he hit the stumps.
  • 44.6 Flighted once more outside off, Ashraf drives this but too close to the right of cover where the fielder runs and makes a stop, preventing any runs. 239/5
  • 44.5 Flighted on middle, Faheem defends his first ball watchfully towards cover.
  • Faheem Ashraf is the new man in.
  • 44.4 OUT! Malik holes out! A flatter one on middle, the skipper charges down the track and looks to hit it over long on but gets too close to the ball hence does not get the elevation. This time, Maxwell makes no mistake and holds on to the catch easily. A good knock from Shoaib but Pakistan needed him to be till the end as he is capable of getting quick runs.
  • 44.3 Rizwan wants to go big but mistimes the ball straight to long off.
  • 44.2 Pushed to the cover region by the skipper. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 44.1 Flatter and quicker outside off, punched by Rizwan coming down the track to deep cover for a single.
  • 43.6 Floated ball outside off, Rizwan sweeps it to deep backward square leg and completes a single. 236/4
  • 43.5 Bowls it shorter this time, Rizwan goes for the pull but gets an inside edge. The ball rolls to fine leg and the batsmen take a couple.
  • 43.4 Flighted ball on off, Rizwan goes for the sweep and gets hit on the pads. Lyon appeals for an lbw. But the umpire denies as it was clearly outside off.
  • 43.3 Tossed up on the pads, driven to long on for a single.
  • 43.2 Rizwan dances down the track and plays it to the off side for a single.
  • 43.1 Full length ball on middle, Malik plays it to mid-wicket where Maxwell misfields and concedes a single.
  • 42.6 Safely pushed away to deep mid-wicket for a single. 8 runs off this over! 230/4
  • 42.5 DROPPED and FOUR! A flatter ball on middle, Malik charges down the track and looks to go big over long on but he hits it flat. The ball carries to Maxwell out there who fails to hold on to the ball. What is worse for Australia, the ball goes to the rope as well.
  • 42.4 Single and that is his hundred! His first one in ODIs! A flatter ball on middle, Rizwan sweeps it away to deep backward square leg for a run. It has been a brilliant knock from him so far but now he will look to start going big.
  • 42.3 Oooh! Almost! A flatter one on middle, skids through after landing. Rizwan looks to flick but gets a thick inside edge onto the pads.

  • 41.4 Flighted ball on the leg stump line, Rizwan plays it to backward point for a single.
  • 41.3 50 up for the Pakistani skipper! His 44th in the ODIs! He has steadied the ship here for Pakistan along with Rizwan. Can they continue and get Pakistan to 300? Gets there playing a full ball off his pads to the leg side and going for the single.
  • 41.2 Bowls it on the the pads, Rizwan flicks it off his pads to the on side for a single.
  • 41.1 Tossed up on middle, flicked towards mid-wicket for a single.
  • 40.6 Oooh! That almost bowled him! A length ball, keeps a tad low and Rizwan with his high backlift wanted to drive that ball but failed to get down in time. The ball goes just past the off stump and to the keeper. Lucky! 216/4
  • 40.5 Bowled at a slower pace outside off on a length, Rizwan is a little early into his drive and mistimes it to extra cover.
  • 40.4 A length ball on top of middle, flicked away by Rizwan for a couple of runs towards mid-wicket. That is good running from the batsmen.

  • Powerplay 3 time! A maximum of 5 fielders are now allowed outside the ring.
  • 39.6 Shortish and on off, punched down to long on for one. 5 from the over. 211/4 at the 40-over mark! 211/4

  • 37.1 Loopy and full on off, Malik tries to flick but gets a leading edge which rolls safely back to the bowler.
  • Drinks break. Pakistan have recovered well through this partnership between Rizwan and Malik. But still they are not out of the woods. This pair needs to continue and finish the innings well, unlike the last game. Australia are a bowler short but Aaron Finch has done well to fill in for the injured Jhye Richardson. They just need to maintain the same intensity and bowl well at the death.

He looks to pull this short ball over the mid-wicket fence but it hits the higher part of the bat and lobs towards deep mid-wicket. Handscomb runs in and takes a neat catch. First one for Lyon and wickets at regular intervals keeping the Aussies on top here. Umar Akmal is absolutely gutted with himself, he knows these opportunities won't come easily to him.

  • 17.3 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! It is Finch who has provided the breakthrough. With all due respect to the Aussie skipper, he is probably the last bowler I thought who would get one of the two as they looked at ease out there. Also, the number which the Aussies consider unlucky (87) has worked in their favor here. It is the arm ball from Finch. It lands on off and angles away. Sohail plays inside the line and gets an outside edge. Carey takes it and appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Sohail walks in disappointment and rightly so. He is only Finch's third ODI wicket. The other two are Rohit Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

  • 16.5 Rizwan takes another single as he hits it down to long off.
  • 16.4 Flights it and lands it on middle, Sohail eases it down to long on for a run. 50-run stand up between the two. A vital one as the two joined association when Pakistan were in a little spot of bother. The job is only half done though.

  • 16.2 Very full this time, Rizwan jams it out to the bowler.
  • 16.1 Zampa drops it short, Rizwan goes back and punches it to covers.
  • Drinks! Pakistan have managed to do well here after losing their openers early. Rizwan and Sohail are amidst a 48-run stand but they need to continue if Pakistan are to get to a good total here. Australia will hope they can break this stand as soon as possible.
  • 15.6 On the stumps and it is defended. Tidy start by the Aussie skipper. 83/2

  • 13.3 Waits for the ball and then works it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 13.2 Fires it on the pads, the batter goes back and works it through mid-wicket for a single.

  • 13.1 Flatter and outside off, Rizwan goes back and punches it through covers for a run.

  • 10.6 A single to end a productive over for Pakistan. 9 from it as Rizwan pushes it through covers for a run. 58/2
  • Not a good sight this! Jhye is seen holding his right hand as he walks off the field. Let us hope it is not something serious.
  • 10.5 FOUR! But a tremendous effort in the deep. Again it is slightly short and on off, Rizwan this time pulls it to the left of square leg. Jhye Richardson in the deep runs to that direction and then dives but fails to stop it. He straightaway puts one hand up and calls the physio out. He seems to be in pain.
  • 10.4 The batsman has driven it through mid on.
  • 10.3 FOUR! That went to the fence like a tracer bullet. The key there was Rizwan picked the length early. Slightly short and on middle, Rizwan crouches and then whacks it through square leg. The fielder in the deep was not far away but still he had no chance. 50 up for Pakistan.

  • 6.2 A confident shot on the first ball! Short and on off, Rizwan picks the length early and pulls it but to mid-wicket.
  • Interestingly, Mohammad Rizwan walks in at number 4. This is only the second time in his short ODI career that he is batting at this position. Good opportunity for him to show his game.
  • 6.1 OUT! Leading edge and taken! Soft, soft dismissal there and now both the openers are back in the hut. Timely one for the Aussies as this partnership was looking good, Masood especially. Not a great delivery this though, it is shortish and around middle, sticks in the surface a little. Masood looks to play it with a closed-face bat but closes the face a touch early. It goes off the leading edge towards short mid-wicket where Marsh takes an easy catch. Second for Jhye and Pakistan in a spot of bother here.
  • 5.6 Two dots to end but a good over for Pakistan. 9 from it. The last ball is guided towards point. 35/1
  • 5.5 Loose shot! That was there to be hit! Full and wide outside off. Sohail throws his bat at it but away from his body. He gets an inside edge.

  • 4.2 Back of a length on off, Sohail stands tall and punches it but finds mid off again.
  • 4.1 On the off stump, not letting the batsman free his arms. Sohail pushes it to mid off.
  • 3.6 Mistimed! A little bit of width on offer outside off, Masood goes back to cut but gets an under edge. 10 from the over, 19 in the last two, Pakistan starting to find some momentum. 20/1
  • 3.5 FOUR! Easy pickings! Bad line and length. It's on the pads and Masood clips it nicely through backward square leg. There is a fielder in the deep but he fails to cut it off.
  • 3.4 Superb stop! Shortish and outside off, Masood rocks back to steer it past point but the fielder stationed there flies to his left and makes an excellent stop. Saves a certain boundary.

  • 2.4 Lazy, very lazy from Haris. Richardson angles across a good length delivery outside off. It further skids away from the batsman after landing. Sohail chases it away from his body and gets beaten.

  • 1.1 Excellent start by him too! Goes fuller and this one angles across. Masood plays inside the line, gets an outside edge which does not carry to the fielder at first slip.
  • Nathan Coulter-Nile to bowl from the other end with the second new ball.
  • 0.6 A wicket maiden to begin with by Jhye. Length again on middle, this is worked towards mid-wicket. 0/1
  • Haris Sohail is the new man in. Scored a century in the last one. Pakistan will like another performance like that.
  • 0.5 OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Richardson draws first blood! His excellent start just gets better. He has been excellent with his line and length throughout the first over. Continues doing that as he lands this one on off and it is a touch fuller. This time though the ball shapes back in a little. Imam plays down the wrong line, he gets an inside edge and the ball uproots the off pole. He walks back without troubling the scorers. Not the start the hosts would have wanted after electing to bat.
  • 0.4 Length again and on off again, Imam pushes it to mid off. 4 dots to begin with for Richardson.
  • 0.3 Corrects his length this time and lands it on off, the batter defends it solidly.

  • We're all set to get underway. Imam-ul-Haq and Shan Masood are the openers for Pakistan. Jhye Richardson to begin proceedings with the first new ball. A single slip in place. Let's play...
  • Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, says he was not sure on what he wanted to do here but is happy chasing. Mentions the wicket did not change a lot in the last game and it was good to bat on. Further adds everybody has their own plans and they are executing it properly. Informs they are unchanged.

The hosts, on the other hand, will be eager to level the series as if they lose this one, it won't be easy getting back into it. Welcome to the coverage.

Reckons that it is a learning curve for all the players with a big few months coming up. Exits by mentioning that Jhye Richardson is in good spirits and it is an unfortunate shoulder dislocation. Hopes he will be fit soon.

Feels that youngsters are being groomed and such matches will happen as they are testing the bench strength. Praises Mohammad Rizwan for scoring runs against a big team and mentions he is a special talent. Considers that such things happen in cricket when you try different stuff with your team combination. • Earlier in the evening, it was the hosts who won the toss and elected to bat. They did recover well after being 4 down before the halfway mark but they could not post a par-300 total in the end that was required. Rizwan got his maiden ODI ton as well but that was never going to be enough on this Sharjah surface which became better for batting in the end. Stay tuned for the presentations but before that Usman Khawaja with an interview on the sidelines.
  • Coming to the bowling, it was looking flat and fell on their face against the willows of Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja. They seemed to run out of ideas and no one even looked like picking a wicket, barring Md. Hasnain for a few overs. Shoaib Malik and co. will have to seriously go back and have a look at their bowling combination if they are to make a comeback in this series.
  • This has been one stroll in the park! The Aussies have batted with ease and grace, winning the match comfortably by 8 wickets and more than 2 overs left in the end. It was a risk-free run chase and belonged to one man especially. The skipper, Aaron Finch made his 13th ODI ton and finished off with a massive 153 not out in the end. It included 6 sixes as well. The 209-run opening stand meant there was only going to be one winner. In fact, only 2 wickets were lost and one was a run out. The bowlers felt a little helpless.
  • 47.5 Leg Byes! That is it! Two runs taken but it does not matter how they come! On a length, Finch goes for the flick but misses and the ball hits his pads and goes through square leg for the winning runs. AUSTRALIA WIN BY 8 WICKETS!! Once more! And take a 2-0 lead in the series.

  • 46.6 Another run out chance missed here by the fielder! Finch goes back on this length ball and punches it covers and takes off. He was quick to start the run but was nowhere close to the crease when the throw went past the non striker's stumps.
