  • Time for the second match of the evening and it's involving two Asian teams - India and Bangladesh! The venue remains the same in Perth and we are expecting a great game. The Girls in Blue were magnificent as they thumped the defending champions in their tournament opener. Their confidence will be sky high at the moment and they will be eyeing a ruthless outing against their neighbours. For Bangladesh, they would like to start with a bang and upset India. Looking at their squad, bowling appears to be the stronger suit while the batting is thin on experience. Still, they have some quality players in Rumana Ahmed, Nahida Akhter, Ritu Moni, Ayesha Rahman and Fargana Haque and they would be hopeful of putting up a brilliant show. Stay tuned for more updates...
  • Toss - Up goes the coin and it falls in favour of Salma Khatun. She initially says that they will bat first but then changes her decision, so BANGLADESH WILL FIELD!
  • Salma Khatun, the Bangladeshi captain, tells that the side is pretty confident after their warm-up games. On their recent win against India in the recently concluded tri-series, Khatun says that it was an excellent series for them. Tells that it is a big first game and they will try to do their best.
  • Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian captain, says that, she wanted to bat anyway as she wants to put a big total on the board. Tells that the last game was a good start and it sets the tone for the tournament. Reveals that Mandhana is not playing as she has viral fever and Richa Ghosh replaces her.
  • India (Playing XI) - Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh (In for Smriti Mandhana), Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Deepti Sharma, Veda Krishnamurthy, Shikha Pandey, Taniya Bhatia (WK), Arundhati Reddy, Poonam Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
  • Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Murshida Khatun, Shamima Sultana, Sanjida Islam, Nigar Sultana (WK), Fargana Hoque, Rumana Ahmed, Salma Khatun (C), Fahima Khatun, Jahanara Alam, Panna Ghosh, Nahida Akter.
  • Pitch report - The square boundaries are quite short and hitting with the wind will be easy. The odd ball will grip and the seamers might get something out of it. Overall, it's a good cricketing surface.
  • Players from both the sides walk out to the middle for their respective national anthems before the action begins.
  • All in readiness! The ladies concerned are out in the middle. Shafali Verma and Taniya Bhatia are the nominated openers for India. The effervescent Smriti Mandhana is going to be a big miss and we wish her a speedy recovery. Jahanara Alam to speed in first up with the new ball. Here we go...
  • 0.1 Jahanara Alam starts with a fuller ball just outside off, Bhatia leans into the shot and pushes it towards mid off. There is a mild appeal as the mid off fielder scores a direct hit at the striker's end but Bhatia had her bat planted inside the crease.
  • 0.2 WIDE! Bowls a length ball this time but it goes beyond the tramline on the off side. Bhatia goes chasing after it but misses. India are underway with an extra.
  • 0.2 Shortish and around off, Bhatia taps it towards point and thinks for a run but they decide against it in the end as the fielder was quick to the ball.
  • 0.3 Crisp drive but only a run as there is a protection in the deep. Full and outside off from Alam, Bhatia drives it through covers and gets off the mark.
  • 0.4 Missed opportunity! High full toss on middle, Verma does not hit it hard and pushes it towards mid on.
  • 0.5 SIX! Just over deep cover! Poor ball from Alam though. Shortish and outside off, Verma reaches out and slams it over deep cover. The ball goes high in the air and the fielder in the deep for a moment thinks that she is in with a chance but the ball sails over her.
  • 0.6 Length ball just outside off, Verma goes for the drive but ends up chopping it on the off side. 8 from the first over. 8/0
  • Salma Khatun, the skipper, to bowl from the other end.
  • 1.1 Floated ball outside off, Bhatia looks to sweep but gets an under edge which goes past the keeper for a run.
  • 1.2 SIX! Shafali Verma is on fire! Floated ball outside off, Verma gets in the position and whacks it over deep mid-wicket for another maximum.
  • 1.3 Slower through the air on middle, Verma looks to flick but the ball takes the outer half and goes towards mid off.
  • 1.4 Short and outside off again, Verma pulls it to long on and changes her end.
  • 1.5 OUT! STUMPED! The Bangladeshi skipper strikes and the experiment of opening with Bhatia fails for India. Smart bowling from Khatun. She flights this wide outside off as she spots that Bhatia is skipping down the track. The ball turns away a hint to go past the defensive bat of Bhatia. Nigar Sultana, the keeper, collects the ball and quickly whips the bails off. No need to go to the third umpire as Bhatia is clearly out of the crease.
  • Jemimah Rodrigues is the new batter in.
  • 1.6 On middle, Rodrigues flicks it towards long on to get off the mark. 17/1
  • 2.1 Alam goes very full and delivers it on middle, Rodrigues pushes it with gentle hands to mid on and scampers across to the other end.
  • 2.2 SIX! Shafali Verma is on the march at W.A.C.A.! A little bit of width outside off, Verma finds it in her zone and smashes it all the way over long off. This 16-year old is a special talent.
  • 2.3 FOUR! Not from the middle of the bat but just enough to go over mid off. Slower one by the bowler, on the shorter side outside off, Verma throws her bat at it and it flies off the toe end. Evades the fielder at the edge of the circle and it's a boundary.
  • Third man comes in. Mid off drops back.
  • 2.4 Another aerial shot! These youngsters don't believe in playing along the ground. Another example is Prithvi Shaw. A length ball outside off, Shafali lifts it over mid off for two runs.
  • 2.5 Play and a miss! Another slower delivery by Alam. It's touch short and outside off, Shafali is early into the swing of her bat and misses.
  • 2.6 FOUR! Bang! 17 runs off the over and India are off to a flying start in spite of losing a wicket early. Right in the zone for Shafali. She attacks it well and thwacks it over the bowler's head. 34/1
  • 3.1 Loopy fuller ball outside off from Khatun, Rodrigues comes forward and keeps it out.
  • 3.2 Just short and outside off, Rodrigues cuts it towards point.
  • 3.3 Full and outside off, this time Rodrigues squeezes it through the gap between short third man and point. The short third man fielder dives but fails to stop. A single as the point fielder chases it and returns the ball.
  • 3.4 Flatter and on middle, Verma flicks it to deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 3.5 Full and outside off, Rodrigues sweeps it powerfully towards deep mid-wicket but only a run results as they have a protection in the deep.
  • 3.6 A couple to end the over! Slightly short and around off, Verma looks to cut but gets a thick outside edge. The ball races towards third man. Short third man chases and slides to stop and give the ball back to the keeper. The batters scamper back for a couple. 5 from the over, another good one from the Bangladeshi skipper. 39/1
  • Nahida Akter is into the attack.
  • 4.1 Very full ball on middle from Nahida to start her spell. It is pushed to mid on.
  • 4.2 Full and just outside off, this time Rodrigues finds cover.
  • 4.3 Full and outside off again, this time Rodrigues drives it to deep cover for an easy run.
  • 4.4 Shortish and just outside off, Verma pulls it towards wide long on for a run. They wanted another run but the fielder in the deep was quick to the ball.
  • 4.5 SIX! Excellent use of the feet, this time from Rodrigues. She gets an applause from her partner at the other end. Floated ball just around off, Rodrigues skips down the track and launches it over mid off for a maximum. That was timed perfectly. She reminds everyone that even she is playing in the game.
  • 4.6 Low full toss outside off, Rodrigues eases it out to long off for a single. 47/1
  • Panna Ghosh is on.
  • 5.1 SIX! 50 up for India in style. 4th maximum of the innings for Shafali. Just a check drive, more of a jab with plenty of bottom hand behind it and it sails over the ropes. Full and in the slot, Verma nonchalantly lofts it over long off for a biggie.
  • 5.2 Short and outside off, Verma cuts it towards point.
  • 5.3 OUT! CAUGHT! One shot too many for Verma but this is how she bats. Fails to get the timing on this one and perishes. Full and just outside off again, Verma once again tries to launch it over long off. But she ends up miscuing it high in the air towards mid off. Shamima Sultana settles under the ball and tries to catch it over her head. It pops out of her hands but she keeps her eyes on the ball. Does well to lob the ball up again, then on the third attempt, she manages to gobble it. An excellent hand from the teenager comes to an end and she has provided a brisk start to India.
  • Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper, is the next batter in.
  • 5.4 Just short of the mid-wicket fielder. Full and on middle, Rodrigues flicks it well and it goes uppishly towards mid-wicket but falls just short of the fielder inside the ring.
  • 5.5 Full and outside off, Rodrigues drives it well but the fielder at cover-point makes an excellent diving half-stop to her right. Certainly saved a boundary there. A run taken.
  • 5.6 Length ball outside off, Kaur thinks that it is outside the tramline and she lets it be, but it is well inside and is not wided. 54/2 at the end of the Powerplay for India. 54/2
  • 6.1 Short delivery on middle, Rodrigues pulls it through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 6.2 FOUR! Soft hands from the skipper! Shortish and outside off, Kaur waits for the ball and then simply dabs it past the short third man fielder. It races away to the fence in a jiffy.
  • 6.3 Full and just outside off, this time Kaur drives it to sweeper cover for a run.
  • 6.4 Loopy ball on the pads, Rodrigues looks to sweep but misses to get hit on the pads.
  • 6.5 Excellent running between the wickets! Flatter delivery outside off, Rodrigues pushes it towards covers and takes a quick run.
  • 6.6 Slower through the air and around off and middle, Kaur keeps it out. 61/2
  • 7.1 MISFIELD AND FOUR! That is a poor stuff from Rumana at long on. Full ball around off, Rodrigues strokes it towards long on. Rumana there allows the ball to go through her legs and go to the fence. That will not please the bowler.
  • 7.2 Length ball outside off, Rodrigues looks to drive but misses.
  • 7.3 Shortish and just around off, Rodrigues punches it through covers for a run.
  • 7.4 Now an overthrow! Some sloppy work from Bangladesh at the moment. Fuller and around off, Kaur pushes it through covers for a run. The throw from the deep is not a good one and an extra run is taken.
  • 7.5 Short and outside off again, Kaur punches it straight to the point fielder.
  • 7.6 Full and around off, Kaur drives it straight to the cover fielder. 7 from the over! 68/2
  • Rumana Ahmed is into the attack.
  • 8.1 Extra flight on this one, it drifts in and lands full around off, Rodrigues drives it through mid off for a single.
  • 8.2 Floated full ball on middle, Kaur pushes it back to the bowler.
  • 8.3 Lovely followthrough of the bat this time. A full ball on middle has been eased down the ground to long on for a run.
  • 8.4 Loopy ball outside off, too full in length, Jemimah squeezes it out but finds point.
  • 8.5 Misses out again! A low full toss around leg, Rodrigues sweeps but the backward square leg fielder dives to make a fine stop. Either side of that fielder and it would have been a boundary.
  • 8.6 Knocks a full ball down towards long on and keeps strike with herself. 71/2
  • 9.1 Good length ball outside off, Rodrigues drives it towards mid off.
  • 9.2 Short and outside off, Rodrigues slaps it through point and bags a couple of runs.
  • 9.3 FOUR! Another misfield. Length ball around off, Rodrigues chips it towards wide long on. The fielder from long on runs to her right and does well to get to the ball. It comes on her palm but it bursts through and falls on the fence.
  • 9.4 Length ball on the pads, worked behind square leg for a run.
  • 9.5 Full and around off, Kaur finds the cover fielder.
  • 9.6 OUT! CAUGHT! The Indian skipper falls now. That was a poor ball to get out to. She should have left it alone but she goes after it. Had she left, it would've been wided. But Ghosh won't care. She gets her second wicket. Bowls it short and wide outside off, Kaur reaches out and tries to cut but it goes straight to Rumana Ahmed at point. 78/3 at the halfway mark! 78/3
  • Deepti Sharma is the next batter in.
  • 10.1 Floated on middle, Rodrigues strokes it to long on for a run.
  • 10.2 Full and outside off, Deepti drags it via a sweep to deep mid-wicket for a run to get off the mark.
  • 10.3 Very full ball on middle, Rodrigues pushes it towards long on for an easy single.
  • 10.4 Tossed up ball outside off, Sharma drives it towards covers.
  • 10.5 Full and outside off, Deepti once again sweeps it behind square leg for a run.
  • 10.6 Full and outside off, Rodrigues drives it uppishly past the bowler for an easy single. 83/3
  • 11.1 Steps down the track and flicks a full ball over mid-wicket for a single.
  • 11.2 Lands it on a good length and outside off, Deepti pushes it with an angled bat to point and steals a quick run. The fielder misses her shy at the bowler's end.
  • 11.3 Pitches it up and outside off, Jemimah plays a mistimed drive towards mid off.
  • 11.4 Nearly carries back to the bowler. Full and outside off, Rodrigues tries driving through covers but it takes the inner half and pops back towards the bowler. Not carrying to Ghosh.
  • 11.5 Up and over! A length delivery outside off, Jemimah chips it over covers and collects a single.
  • 11.6 Quicker one on middle, Sharma turns it off his pads towards the vacant mid-wicket region and runs the first run hard. The bowler herself goes after it and stops the ball. Only a run results. Panna has bowled out, 4-0-25-2, outstanding work! 87/3
  • Fahima Khatun into the attack now.
  • 12.1 Khatun starts with a flatter one outside off, Deepti looks to cut but misses.
  • 12.2 Full and on middle, Sharma this time flicks it to mid-wicket for a run.
  • 12.3 Straight to cover! Very full ball outside off, Rodrigues drives it well but finds cover.
  • 12.4 Swept well but only a run! Another full ball from Khatun, this one is on middle, Rodrigues sweeps it down to deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 12.5 Appeal for a caught behind but it is turned down! A flatter ball outside off, Deepti looks to force it towards the off side but she misses. The Bangladeshi players appeal but nothing from the umpire. The Ultra Edge rolls in and shows that there was no bat involved.
  • 12.6 WIDE! Tries a similar ball again but it is way outside off, Sharma lets it go. Wided by the umpire.
  • 12.6 Full and outside off, Sharma once again powerfully sweeps it to deep mid-wicket for a run. 91/3
  • Jahanara Alam is back on. 2-0-25-0 are her figures so far.
  • 13.1 Call is for two but they will settle for a run. Full ball on middle, Sharma whips it towards deep mid-wicket and calls for a couple straightaway. But the fielder in the deep charges ahead and gets to the ball quickly, so they settle for just a run.
  • Run out appeal is taken upstairs. That looks close.
  • 13.2 OUT! RUN OUT! She is short. Excellent work from Nahida and the keeper there. Low full toss outside off, Rodrigues drives it towards backward point and goes for the single. But seeing the diving stop at point Deepti stutters and sends her partner back. Rodrigues has to return from the middle of the crease as the throw comes at the keeper's end. She dives full length and tries to get in as Nigar collects the ball and takes the bails off. The decision is referred upstairs and the replays roll in to show that the dive has not saved Jemimah. This could be a big moment in the game.
  • Richa Ghosh is the next batter in.
  • 13.3 WIDE! Alam bowls it wide outside off, Ghosh leaves it alone.
  • 13.3 On a good length and outside off, Richa looks to chase this but misses it.
  • 13.4 Full delivery on off, Ghosh drives it to covers.
  • 13.5 Full delivery outside off, Ghosh slashes it over point for a couple.
  • 13.6 Full delivery on middle, Ghosh looks to drive but gets an inside edge onto the pads. 95/4
  • Fahima Khatun is back on. 1-0-4-0 from her so far.
  • 14.1 Quick run! Loopy full ball on off, Deepti tucks it towards mid-wicket and completes a quick run as the fielder there tries to hit the stumps at the non-striker's end. She misses and replays show that it wouldn't have mattered.
  • 14.2 Short and outside off, Ghosh forces it to sweeper cover for a run.
  • 14.3 WIDE! Fuller and wide outside off, Deepti tries reaching out but misses. Wided by the umpire.
  • 14.3 Full and outside off, Deepti brings her sweep out and drags it to deep square leg for a run.
  • 14.4 Beaten! Another caught behind appeal but it is turned down once again. Shortish and around off, Ghosh looks to run it down to third man but misses. They appeal but nothing from the umpire.
  • 14.5 FOUR! Poor ball and got the punishment it deserved. Short and wide outside off, Ghosh waits on the back foot and at the last moment slashes it through backward point for a boundary. 100 up for India.
  • 14.6 FOUR! Another one, this is really poor from Khatun. Another half-tracker outside off, Ghosh pounces onto it once again as she slaps it through backward point for another boundary. 12 from the over, a good one for India. 107/4
  • Nahida Akter is back on. 2-0-15-0 are her figures so far.
  • 15.1 Short and around off, Deepti looks to pull but the ball stops on the surface. Deepti just about survives as she miscues it towards the bowler on the bounce.
  • 15.2 Full and outside off, swept to deep square leg for a run.
  • 15.3 Appeal for an LBW from the bowler but nothing doing. A flighted ball around leg, Ghosh looks to paddle but misses to get hit on the pads. Pitching outside leg.
  • 15.4 A couple now! Short and outside off, Ghosh slaps it through point and bags a couple of runs.
  • 15.5 A dot now as Ghosh fails to find the gap this time to this short ball outside off and ends up cutting it straight to point.
  • 15.6 A single to end the over. Another short ball from Akter, Ghosh slaps it towards point where the fielder dives to make a partial stop. The batters cross over for a run. 111/4
  • Salma Khatun is back on. 2-0-14-1 are her figures so far.
  • 16.1 Full and around off, Ghosh paddles it straight to short fine leg.
  • 16.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Excellent running catch from Akter. Richa perishes in search of quick runs! Flighted fuller ball on middle, Ghosh slog sweeps it towards wide long on and tries to clear the ropes. But it is not timed too well. Akter from long on moves across to her right and holds on to a very good catch. Richa cannot believe it as she goes off.
  • Veda Krishnamurthy is the new batter in.
  • 16.3 Another excellent effort from the fielder in the deep to keep it to a run. A shortish ball around off, Krishnamurthy pulls it towards deep square leg and thinks for a couple but the fielder in the deep does well to reach out and fire a throw at the keeper's end.
  • 16.4 Shortish and around off, blocked towards covers.
  • Appeal for a run out! One of the batters is definitely out but who? Both are contesting to reach the same crease. Complete miscommunication. Deepti Sharma has lost the race to Veda Krishnamurthy and is gone.
  • 16.5 OUT! Deepti Sharma is run out! Complete hara-kiri! Full and flighted around off, Sharma sweeps it to deep mid-wicket and crosses for a run. Veda Krishnamurthy wants the second and straightaway rushes out for it. Sharma decides to respond but slips while turning. She then chooses to return while Veda keeps on running at the non-striker's end. The throw comes to the keeper who breaks the stumps immediately. Someone is definitely out but who is that someone is the question. The replays roll in and show that both batters are contesting for the same crease. It's touch and go, Deepti has the advantage of putting in the dive whereas Veda is the beneficiary of having a good head start. Whose bat is in first? Aahhhh...by a whisker, it's Veda who has won the race. Disappointed Deepti returns. India losing the plot.
  • Shikha Pandey is the new batter in.
  • 16.6 Flighted fuller ball around off, Shikha drives it to long off for a run. 114/6
  • 17.1 Floated around off, Pandey chips it over mid off for a run.
  • 17.2 FOUR! Much-needed boundary for India! Full and outside off, Krishnamurthy gets into position and sweeps it firmly to bag a boundary as the ball races away to the deep square leg fence.
  • Another run out appeal referred upstairs.
  • 17.3 NOT OUT! Flatter and around off, Krishnamurthy taps it towards short third man and takes off for a quick run. There is a direct hit at the striker's end. The third umpire has been called in. The replays come and show that Pandey did well to drag her bat in time.
  • 17.4 Flatter and around off, Pandey pushes it towards short third man and once again takes a quick run.
  • 17.5 FOUR! Brilliantly timed! Full and just outside off, Krishnamurthy moves away to make room and then she chips it over extra cover to bag another boundary.
  • 17.6 FOUR! Another one! This is excellent batting from Krishnamurthy. She is providing the much-needed impetus to this Indian batting innings. Full and outside off, she firmly sweeps it to deep square and the ball races away to the fence. 15 from the over! 129/6
  • 18.1 Flatter and outside off, Pandey looks to force it towards the off side but misses.
  • 18.2 Shortish and outside off, Pandey this time pushes it to deep point for a run.
  • 18.3 WIDE! Tries to keep away from the hitting zone of the batter and ends up spilling it wide outside off. Wide signaled.
  • 18.3 WIDE! Another wide! Once again Khatun tries to stay away and bowls it well wide outside off, Krishnamurthy lets it be once again.
  • 18.3 FOUR! This time she cannot get away as she lands it full and just around off, Krishnamurthy is seeing the ball really well as she connects her sweep once again and sends the ball whistling away to the deep square leg fence.
  • 18.4 Play and a miss! Tries to get cheeky but misses as Khatun bowls a quicker one just outside off, Krishnamurthy tries to guide it towards third man but misses.
  • 18.5 Shortish and around middle, Krishnamurthy pulls it towards long on for a run.
  • 18.6 A dot to end the over! Full and around off, Pandey drives it straight to covers. 8 runs from the penultimate over. 137/6
  • Jahanara Alam to bowl the final over of the innings.
  • Jahanara Alam was about to start her run-up but Veda Krishnamurthy moves away. Some problems due to the sightscreen.
  • 19.1 Swing and a miss! Length ball outside off, Krishnamurthy swings hard but misses.
  • LBW appeal taken upstairs. Veda Krishnamurthy is the batter in question. The front foot is fine. There is no bat involved. Where's the impact? Outside off it is, so Krishnamurthy survives.
  • 19.2 NOT OUT! Impact is outside off, so Krishnamurthy can stay and smash a few more. A brilliant ball from Jahanara though. It is a superb yorker from her. Krishnamurthy tries to dig it out but she misses. She is struck on the pads. Alam appeals but not out says the umpire. This being the last over, Bangladesh go for the review. The replays roll in and show no involvement of bat first. Then the Ball Tracker comes and it shows that the impact is well outside off, so Krishnamurthy stays.
  • 19.3 Dropped! A simple chance but Panna spills it. Full and outside off, Pandey lofts it over cover-point. There is no timing on this one. It goes towards Ghosh at sweeper cover where she comes forward and gets to the ball but it does not stick in her palms. A couple taken.
  • 19.4 A dot now! Full ball around off, Pandey looks to reverse paddle but misses. They think of stealing a bye but Krishnamurthy sends Pandey back. Sultana, the keeper, hits the stumps at the striker's end but Pandey does well to make her ground.
  • 19.5 Fuller and around off, lofted over mid off for a run.
  • 19.6 Full and just outside off, Krishnamurthy moves away to make room but she has to reach out for it. It takes the toe end of the bat and goes towards the off side for a single. INDIA END ON 142/6.
  • Just 5 runs from the last over and that has stopped the Indian charge at the death! The Blue team had collected 23 from the two overs leading to the 20th but a brilliant final over by Jahanara Alam made sure that India didn't cross the psychological 150-run mark.
  • It all started with Salma Khatun's decision to invite India to bat first! Shafali Verma once again batted like a train on fire and provided a rollicking start. Jemimah Rodrigues also lent a useful hand but once both got dismissed, they struggled with the rotation of strike and also in finding the boundaries. Towards the end, Veda Krishnamurthy's little cameo helped them to get a score above 135.
  • Bangladesh's bowling was below par at the start but they grew well as the game progressed. Skipper Salma Khatun was brilliant in her spell of 4 overs while Panna Ghosh, too, impressed by dismissing Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur. Their overall effort post the Powerplay has to be commended although they would have loved to keep India under 125 on this surface.
  • Jemimah Rodrigues is caught for a quick chat. Says that it's a decent score, not a winning one but they have a good bowling and fielding unit, so she's confident of defending the total. Wants her bowlers to bowl in the right areas and stick to the basics. On Shafali Verma's batting, Jemimah replies that she is a fearless character and something for all of them to learn. Quick wickets and dot balls, that's the recipe for success as far as Jemimah Rodrigues is concerned.
  • Right then, India have the bowling to defend this total but they cannot afford to take it lightly. A good start for Bangladesh will surely put them under pressure. Let's hope for a riveting chase. Do join us in a short while.

A touch short in length around off, Sanjida tries to shuffle across and work it on the leg side but it arrives late and takes the slice of her bat. It balloons in the air and Pandey rushes forward. • 6.1 Shout for an lbw! Not given. Flighted ball around middle and leg, turning down, Murshida tries to sweep but misses. It strikes her on the back leg and deflects to the right of short third man. They appeal as the batters cross. Given as a leg bye. Missing leg, probably, that's why the umpire turned down the appeal.

  • 6.3 Short in length and outside off, Khatun cuts but finds point.
  • 6.4 Floated one, landing full around off, Khatun under edges her attempted sweep shot.

  • Nigar Sultana is the new batter in. Also, Poonam Yadav is into the attack. She's fresh from a brilliant outing against Australia.
  • 8.1 Flighted and fuller, it is pushed towards point.
  • 8.2 Another flighted ball, Nigar pushes it back to the bowler.
  • 8.3 FOUR! Down the leg this time and Nigar takes full toll. She sweeps it towards the vacant fine leg region and the ball races away to the fence.

  • 10.2 Shortish and just outside off, Nigar punches it to deep cover for a run.
  • India have taken a caught behind decision upstairs after the umpire declines the appeal. At the very last second, Kaur signals for the DRS. Is there a bottom edge? Ultra Edge detects one.
  • 10.3 OUT! CAUGHT! There is a spike on Ultra Edge. This is a smart, smart decision from the Indians. They were not too sure about taking it upstairs but at the last moment they took the gamble and it paid off. Another very slower ball outside off, Islam looks to slog sweep but she misses. The keeper collects the ball and whips the bails off and appeals for stumping. But nothing from the umpires. Kaur gets towards the bowler and at the very last moment, they signal the 'T'. The replays roll in and brings ecstasy in the Indian camp.
  • Fargana Hoque is the next batter in.
  • 10.4 Extra slow through the air, full and on middle, Fargana defends it off her front foot.
  • 10.5 Short and outside off, it's cut but straight to point.
  • 10.6 Nicely tossed up ball around off, fuller in length, Hoque drives but finds the cover fielder. 1 run and a wicket from the over, a top class one by the leggie. 61/3
  • 11.1 FOUR! Good attempt by Shafali Verma but in vain! Slower short ball around off, Sultana pulls it across the line but without much timing. It squirts towards the rope as Verma gives the chase from short fine leg. She puts in a forward dive to pull it back but it's not a clean one as the third umpire finds in the replays. Boundary signalled.
  • 11.2 It's been driven superbly through the covers. They pick up a single.
  • 11.3 OUT! That's a terrific reflex catch by Taniya! India continue to rule the roost. Hoque departs for a 4-ball duck. Good length delivery outside off, Fargana strides forward to push inside the line but there is some extra bounce and it brushes her gloves on the way back. Bhatia, the keeper, does extremely well to keep her eyes on the ball and collects the catch superbly. She made it look so simple. Another one bites the dust for Bangladesh and the run chase for them is going haywire.
  • Fahima Khatun is the new batter in.

  • 13.2 Fullish and outside off, driven through covers for a single.
  • 13.3 FOUR! Not where Khatun intended! Reddy angles in a length ball around off, Fahima tries swinging across the line but it takes the top edge and flies down to third man for a boundary.
  • 13.4 FOUR! Another top edge, another boundary. Doesn't matter how they come as long as they come. These two boundaries would act as an ointment for the asking run rate. A touch short in length on middle, Khatun top edges her pull shot over short fine leg. Shafali Verma gives the chase and pulls it back just before the rope. Although she gets up and signals for a boundary. Strange, very strange, the replays find it to be a clean stop. But the umpire has already given it as a boundary and is sticking to it. Lucky one.
  • 13.5 Width on offer outside off, Khatun guides it to third man for a single.
  • 13.6 DROPPED! Jemimah Rodrigues drops a tough catch. A length delivery outside off, coming slowly off the surface, Sultana mistimes her lofted shot over extra cover and Rodrigues rushes forward from the deep. The batters complete two runs, 12 from the over in total! 85/4

  • Poonam Yadav is back on. 2-0-7-1 are her figures so far.
  • 15.1 OUT! Poonam returns and Poonam strikes! What a bowler she is! Truly a match-winner. A flighted delivery, dipping into the batter around off, Khatun goes down on one knee for the sweep shot but mistimes it badly behind square leg off the top edge. Shafali Verma reacts to her right and stretches her hands out to complete the catch. The 28-run stand is broken, 49 needed off 29 balls.

  • 16.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Gayakwad strikes and it is off Nigar who was looking really good. Full and just outside off, Nigar goes for the sweep, connects it well but there is square leg placed. Reddy comes forward and pouches it inches above the turf. Excellent stuff from the Indians.
  • Rumana Ahmed is the new batter in.
  • 16.5 Full and around off, pushed to mid off. They go for the risky run. Gayakwad gets to the ball quickly and fires a throw at the non-striker's end but she misses. Had she hit, it would've been all over for Ahmed.
  • 16.6 Full and outside off, Jahanara goes for the slog sweep but gets an inside edge. The ball just about misses the stumps and goes to fine leg for a run. 108/6
  • 17.1 Alam was in two minds there! Yadav bowls it so slowly through the air that batter can finish a cup of coffee in between. Flighted and outside off, Alam initially looks for a big shot but then realizes that it's coming way too slowly off the surface. At the last moment, Alam plays it unconvincingly to short third man.
  • 17.2 Short and wide outside off, Alam cuts but finds point.
  • 17.3 OUT! Another sharp piece of glove work behind the stumps. Poonam tempts the batter with her flight this time. Bangladesh going down quickly.

  • 18.1 FOUR! Tossed up ball around middle, Ahmed goes down and slog sweeps it towards deep mid-wicket for a boundary.
  • 18.2 FOUR! Toying with the deep fielder. Another slog sweep by Ahmed, this time it's to the right of the deep mid-wicket fielder and runs away to the fence.
  • 18.3 Flighted delivery outside off, Rumana tries to play a late cut but misses.
  • 18.4 Slog sweep is being used to good effect by Rumana. Fuller and on middle, Ahmed sends it to the right of deep mid-wicket and Jemimah does well to make the stop this time. Cannot prevent the second run though.
  • 18.5 Fires this one flat and a touch short on off, Rumana chops it down towards backward point for a run.
  • 18.6 Shout for an lbw! Skidding down, Khatun tries sweeping but misses. The bowler appeals but she is the only one doing so. The ball rolls to the leg side and Khatun ventures out for a run. Taniya has a quick attempt to flick the ball at stumps but misses. 11 from the over! 121/7

  • 19.6 INDIA WIN BY 18 RUNS! Too full in length on middle, Akter forces it down to long on for just a run.
  • A comprehensive victory for India! Yet another professional show by them as they've easily outclassed their Asian neighbours. The Blue team was clinical with the bat in the Powerplay and then despite losing the plot mid-way, they pumped their score to 142 - the highest in this edition of the tournament, so far. Shafali Verma once again was the superstar as she provided a rollicking start to the Indian innings.
  • In pursuit, Bangladesh required a quickfire start but it never came. Murshida Khatun and Sanjida Islam constructed a partnership but the batters who followed failed to make any use of it. Nigar Sultana top-scored for them but her innings never threatened India. The Indian bowlers picked wickets at regular intervals and always maintained the upper hand. Every bowler was impressive but the standout one was once again Poonam Yadav. Her extra slow flighted deliveries are turning out to be too hot to handle. Shikha Pandey, too, was right on the money and did her job efficiently at the start and in the death. Stay tuned for the presentation...
  • SHAFALI VERMA IS NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that since there was no Mandhana, she wanted to take the responsibility and stay till the end. On her see the ball, hit the ball approach, Verma says that she practices all these shots. Tells that she wants to bat well and help India win more games.
  • Salma Khatun, the Bangladeshi captain, says that they didn't bowl well in the Powerplay. Tells that the fielding was not good. Adds that their side hasn't played many games under lights but they will try to do well in the next game.
  • Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian captain, says that Shafali and Richa did really well and that shows how good they are. Praises Krishnamurthy's effort with the bat and tells that when she went to the middle, India needed quick runs and she provided that. On Smriti Mandhana's chance of making into the Indian side for their next game, the Indian skipper tells that they've got a few days before that game and Mandhana has recovered well. Tells that team wants to take one game at a time and continue performing similarly in their coming games.
  • Right then, that's all we have from this match! India have jumped to the top of the points table in Group A and are looking like the team to beat. Tuesday will be a rest day/travelling day for the teams. Do join us on 26th February for the matches involving England, Thailand, West Indies and Pakistan. The first of the double-header will kick off at 1500 local (0400 GMT). Looking forward to your company then. Cheers!
