  • So with just 106 on the board. It will take some miraculous effort from Bangladesh to get back in this Test. The Indian players will be more than happy with their efforts and are comfortably in the driver's seat. Join us in a while as the Indian openers walk out to bat with the lights starting to take over at this jam-packed Eden Gardens.
  • Nothing much to talk about Bangladesh's batting. They have once again surrendered without much fight. Only Shadman and Liton showed some grit. Luck too did not go their way as just when Das was looking good, his participation in the game was unfortunately cut short due to concussion. They will be more disappointed as they failed to make even India bowl under proper lights.
  • Another brilliant performance from India. The spinners bowled a combined total of just 1 over because the pacers were brilliant with the ball. The trio were excellent with the ball. Ishant led the way with 5 while Umesh and Shami had 3 and 2 wickets each. All-in-all the Indian pacers were just too good for the visitors. Special mention for Wriddhiman Saha as he was brilliant behind the stumps and saved a lot of runs.
  • A 5-wicket haul for Ishant. He leads his side off the field, carving his name in the history books by becoming the first Indian bowler to get a 5-wicket haul in a Day-Night Test.
  • 30.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Pujara saves Rohit from another embarrasment of dropping a catch. Sharma had dropped a sitter in the first Test match and he was on the verge of dropping another but it was not to be as Pujara saved him. Good length ball outside off, Jayed looks to guide it to third man but the ball goes off his outside edge towards Rohit Sharma at second slip. He makes a mess of it and has no idea where the ball has gone. Luckily for him, the ball lands straight into the hands of Pujara at first slip. With this, Bangladesh have been BOWLED OUT FOR JUST 106.
  • 30.2 Full delivery on middle and leg, Jayed looks to flick it but it goes off the inside edge onto the pads. No run.
  • 30.1 Short ball on middle, Al-Amin looks to pull it but the ball goes off the top edge towards cover. The batters cross over for a single.
  • 29.6 Length ball on off, Abu does well to get bat on ball. 105/9
  • The last man in is Abu Jayed.
  • 29.5 OUT! Bowled! 5-fer for Ishant Sharma. His 10th in Tests. A proper outswinger this. Ishant uses the width of the crease and bowls it on middle. It shapes away from the batter. Nayeem looks to defend it away from his body. He misses and the off stump goes for a toss. Second 5-fer at home for Ishant. 12 years after his first.
  • 29.4 Fuller ball on off, Nayeem looks to play it on the off side but it goes off the outer half of his bat through covers. Umesh cleans it up. Two taken.
  • 29.3 Bouncer! It is very close to the body. Nayeem takes his eyes off the ball and keeps his bat hanging with his bottom hand off the bat. It hits him on the handle of his bat.
  • 29.2 Full on middle and off, Nayeem defends it to the on side.
  • 29.1 Pacy inswinger pitching on middle and leg. Nayeem looks to defend but gets hit on the pads.
  • 28.6 PLAY AND A MISS! Good length ball outside off, Hossain looks to play the drive but is beaten. Another good over from Shami comes to an end. 103/8
  • 28.5 BOUNCER! A good one at that! It is bowled on middle, Hossain ducks under it.
  • 28.4 The batsman has played it to the point region.
  • 28.3 FALLS SHORT! Short ball outside off, Nayeem looks to play the upper cut but it goes off the upper half of his bat towards third man. Jadeja runs in to take the catch but the ball falls short. It hits his hand and the ball goes towards the fence. Jadeja recovers and cleans it up. The batters take a single. If Jadeja can't catch that one, then I doubt that anyone can.
  • 28.2 FOUR LEG BYES! Full delivery down the leg side, Hasan looks to flick it but it brushes his thigh pad and goes to the fine leg fence. The replays roll in and it shows that it should have been given as byes as there was nothing on it. 100 up for the visitors.
  • 28.1 BEATEN! Good length ball with some late swing outside off, Nayeem looks to guide this to third man but fails to put any bat on it.
  • Al-Amin Hossain walks out at number 10. Technically the 11th batsman as both Liton and Mehidy batted.
  • 27.6 OUT! CAUGHT! The concussion substitute has to go. Full delivery on middle, Mehidy flicks this uppishly but he finds Pujara at short mid-wicket. He dives forward and takes the catch just inches above the ground. The square leg umpire has told Mehidy Hasan to wait in order to check whether it was a clean catch which it is and Mehidy has to go. Bangladesh have not even reached 100 and they are just two wickets away from getting bowled out. 98/8
  • 27.5 PLAY AND A MISS! Ishant dishes out a full delivery outside off, Mehidy attempts the drive but misses it altogether yet again.
  • 27.4 Full delivery on off, Mehidy pushes it to cover for nothing.

  • 26.4 FOUR! Nicely played! Back of a length delivery outside off, Nayeem camps on his back foot and punches it to deep point for a boundary.
  • 26.3 FOUR! Nicely played! Shami bowls a length ball on off, Nayeem on his back foot guides it over the slip cordon and into the third man fence.
  • 26.2 Full delivery on middle, Nayeem plays it back to Shami.
  • 26.1 Good length ball on off, Nayeem pushes it back to the bowler.
  • 25.6 Fullish ball on off, Mehidy is solid in defense. A better over for Bangladesh as 8 runs have come off it. 90/7
  • 25.5 FOUR! Lovely shot! This man is showing that he can bat. Full delivery outside off, Mehidy lunges forward and thrashes the ball through covers and into the fence.
  • 25.4 Back of a length ball outside off, Mehidy shoulders arms to it.
  • 25.3 Short ball on off, Mehidy rocks on his back foot and defends it onto the pitch.
  • 25.2 Good length ball on off, Mehidy defends it towards cover.
  • 25.1 FOUR! Beautiful shot! Fullish delivery around off, Mehidy prods forward and guides this towards the backward point region for his first boundary.
  • 24.6 OHH! Another short ball on leg stump! Nayeem tries to fend at it but it hits him on the body. 82/7
  • 24.5 On a length outside off, Nayeem guides it to point for nothing.
  • 24.4 BEATEN! Good length ball outside off, Nayeem looks to guide it to third man but fails to put any bat to it.
  • 24.3 BOUNCER! Shami goes for another bumper on middle, Nayeem ducks under it.
  • 24.2 BEATEN! Beautiful bowling but an even better take from Saha! Good length ball on off moving in. Nayeem looks to defend it but the ball smeaks through. Saha dives full length to his right and pouches it safely. Excellent stuff from Wriddhiman.
  • 24.1 Full delivery down the leg side, Nayeem looks to flick it but misses it completely.
  • 23.6 Full delivery on off, Mehidy defends it to point. 82/7
  • The concussion based substitute has been made. Mehidy Hasan is the one who is brought on in place of Liton Das and he is out to bat now. Remember he is a like for like substitute so he can just bat and not bowl in this game.
  • 23.5 OUT! TIMBER! After bowling some balls outside off, Ishant goes full and hits the stumps. Briliant bowling this! Full delivery on off, Hossain looks to defend while he moves to the leg side but fails to make any connection to it. The ball whizzes past the bat and goes onto hitting the stumps. The visitors crumbel further.
  • 23.4 BEATEN! Good length ball outside off, Ebadot looks to drive but misses it altogether.
  • 23.3 Fullish delivery outside off, Ebadot guides it to point where Jadeja misfields allowing the batsmen to take a single. They crossed over for a couple but umpire Erasmus has found Hossain one short. So only a single given.
  • 23.2 BEATEN! Another full delivery outside off, Ebadot looks to drive yet again but fails to make any connection to it.
  • 23.1 BEATEN! Full delivery outside off, Hossain attempts the drive but the ball passes the outside edge of his bat and Saha collects it behind the stumps.
  • 22.6 FOUR! Beautifully played! Shami goes full outside off, Nayeem creams the drive through cover for the second boundary of the over. 81/6
  • 22.5 OUCH! This time hits the gloves. Shami bowls another short delivery opn middle, Nayeem looks to fend it off the back foot but the ball hits the gloves and goes onto the pitch.
  • 22.4 EXCELLENT TAKE FROM SAHA AGAIN! This is a beautiful piece of bowling from Shami! Good length ball on off swinging in. Nayeem looks to defend it but the ball cuts him in half. The ball flies to the right of Saha who does very well to catch it while diving.
  • 22.3 FOUR! Nicely played that! Short ball outside off, Hasan rocks on his back foot and plays the upper cut over the second slip fielder to get off the mark with a boundary.
  • 22.2 Another short ball but this time down the leg side, Nayeem looks to pull at the last moment but ball goes past him and into the mitts of the keeper.
  • Another vicious Shami bouncer that hits the helmet. This time it is the helmet of Nayeem. The physio will have another run out. To have a concussion test on Nayeem. Nayeem is smiling so this should not be as bad as Liton's, at least we all hope so. Nayeem looks fine to continue at this point of time.
  • 22.1 OUCH! Another bumper which goes on to hit the helmet. Shami bowls a bouncer on middle. Nayeem looks to sway away from it but cannot do so. It goes onto hit the helmet and up in the air. Kohli from the slips goes behind and takes the catch with a single hand. The Indians check up on Hasan and he is seen sharing a smile with his partner suggesting that he is fine. Physio called in to check up on him. Let's see whether he will continue or not.
  • Mohammad Shami to bowl the first full over of the session.
  • 21.6 BEATEN! Beautiful ball from Ishant! Good lenght ball outside off, Hossain looks to defend it but the ball whizzes past the bat and into the keeper's gloves. 73/6
  • 21.5 Bowls a full delivery outside off, Ebadot does not fiddle with it and leaves it well alone.
  • We are back for the second session! Nayeem Hasan is coming out to bat? Who will it be along with him? Will it be Liton Das or someone else? It is Ebadot Hossain who joins Nayeem out in the middle. The Indian players are also making their way out to the middle. Ishant Sharma will finish his over.
  • ... Day 1, Session 2 ...
  • Just like the first Test, Bangladesh struggled after opting to bat. Three ducks amongst the top 5 batsmen makes it obvious that they have had a nightmare. Only Shadman and Liton looked good. The former departed after a good start. The real cause of concern for Bangladesh is Liton who has also departed due to concussion. They will hope that he is fine to bat after the break as they do not have many options on the bench. What will happen? Join us after the break to find out.
  • Pink ball or red ball, it does not matter to this Indian fast bowling unit. Another Test and another session dominated by the Indian pacers. They were off colour at the start but have gotten better as they got the better grip of this pink ball. Umesh, Ishant and Shami all got into the wickets column, with 3, 2 and 1 respectively. Just a solitary over of spin in this session. Also a special shout-out for Wriddhiman Saha who has had to face the real challenge with the pink ball but he has been magnificent behind the stumps. Not just picking up a stunner but also saving runs.
  • Oh no! Not good news this. Liton Das is showing symptoms of concussion here and the umpire has called for the physio. He seems to be a bit dizzy. Though Liton has looked very good he should not continue as nothing is more important than health and a blow to the head can be very dangerous. Liton is walking off and so are the players. That will be Lunch on Day 1.
  • 21.4 Ishant bowls a length delivery outside off, Das lets the ball pass through to the keeper.

  • 16.4 Outside off, left alone.
  • 16.3 Good length ball outside off, Mahmudullah shoulders arms to this one.
  • 16.2 FOUR! Poor ball from Yadav! He tends to stray down sometimes. Bowls it on the pads, Mahmudullah flicks it to fine leg and picks up an easy boundary.
  • 16.1 BEATEN! Beautiful bowling from Umesh Yadav! Good length ball outside off swinging away, Mahmudullah looks to defend it but passes the outside edge of the bat to the keeper.
  • 15.6 Good length ball around off, it comes back in. Mahmudullah looks to defend but it goes off his thigh pad. There is a stifled appeal but the umpire is not interested. • 14.4 Now calmly leaves the length ball outside off.
  • 14.3 FOUR! Liton is off the mark in style. Slightly overpitched on the pads, Liton picks it early and flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
  • Liton Das walks out to the middle now. He looked good in the last Test but failed to convert his start. Can he do something special here?
  • 14.2 OUT! Caught! Beautiful delivery from Umesh. Hardly anything Shadman could do. Bangladesh have half their side back in the hut now. Good length ball around off, Shadman is in two minds whether to play at it or not. He decides to have a poke at it. The ball shapes away and tickles the outside edge. It goes straight to Saha. He will not drop those even in his sleep. Half the side back in the pavilion. 100th Test dismissal for Wriddhiman Saha. Join quickest for India to achieve this feat for India along with Dhoni. One of the easiest ones to get to this landmark.
  • 14.1 Full and wide outside off, Shadman looks to drive but misses.
  • 13.6 Shami wants Mahmudullah to drive but Mahmudullah is not tempted to and leaves it alone. 38/4
  • 13.5 Good length ball outside off, Mahmudullah leaves it alone.
  • 13.4 FOUR BYES! This one does too much. Good length ball down the leg side, the ball keeps going away to the left of Saha. He dives but has no chance of saving that and the ball goes to the fine leg fence.
  • 13.3 Good length ball on middle and off, Shadman looks to defend but it goes to the leg side off the inner half of his bat for a single.

  • 12.5 EDGED BUT FALLS WELL SHORT! Good length ball outside off, Mahmudullah attempts to defend it but it goes off the outside edge towards Saha who collects it on the bounce diving forward. Played it with soft hands and that's probably why it did not carry to Wriddhiman Saha.
  • 12.4 Short delivery on off, Shadmap pulls it towards deep square leg and takes a single.

  • 11.5 OUT! Chopped on! Bangladesh's crisis man is out of here and the misery piles on. Back of a length ball on off, Mushfiqur looks to defend but he is a bit late on it. The ball takes the upper half of his bat and goes onto hit the stumps. A similar way in which Mushfiqur got out in the first Test. • Mohammad Mithun is the new man in.
  • 10.1 OUT! Caught! Rohit Sharma has taken a stunner here! Good length ball around off, it shapes away at the last moment. It is in the channel of uncertainty. Mominul looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge. It goes between first and second slip. Rohit Sharma at second slip dives to his right and takes a superb one-handed catch. Had he not dived, one would feel it would have gone straight to Kohli but as they say if you feel like it is your catch at slip then you should go for it. That is exactly what Rohit has done here. The Bangladesh skipper departs for a duck.
  • 9.6 Outside off, Islam leaves it alone. 17/1
  • 9.5 WOW! This one has moved a long long way. Excellent take from Saha. Saha has found the toughest so far with this pink ball. Shami goes wide of the crease and makes it jag back in. • 9.3 Length ball on off, Shadman defends it towards point. Mominul was looking to steal a single but Shadman says no. Umesh Yadav has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Even if Umesh had hit Mominul would have been in. Good call from Shadman as the single was not there at all.

  • 7.4 Back of a length ball outside off, Mominul leaves it alone.
  • 7.3 Short ball around the body, Shadman pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

Shadman looks to defend it but the sneaks past the bat and pad going to Wriddhiman Saha who dives to his right to take the catch. The Indians appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Shami and Saha look confident and convince Kohli to go for the review. The Ultra Edge rolls in and it shows that there is clearly no bat on it. The ball has gone off the thigh pad and into the keeper's gloves. Both teams lose a review very early on in the game. What a start to the spell from the local lad, Mohammed Shami.
  • Review time again. This time it is India who have taken it for a caught behind. It looks to be missing the bat but let's see what the replays have to say.
  • 7.1 Almost gets a wicket off the first ball Shami bowls! Bowls it a shorter outside off, Shadman looks to leave the ball alone. It goes off the bottom half of the bat uppishly. Shami hares towards it to take the catch but it bounces way short. Lucky break for Shadman Islam.
  • Mohammed Shami is into the attack for the first time.

The umpire agrees with them and raises his finger. Kayes has a word with his partner and reviews it. Replay rolls in. Ultra Edge first comes in and confirms no involvement of bat. Ball Tracker then comes in and it shows that the ball was going to hit the leg pole. Bangladesh lose their review. Kayes does not survive for long. The fans are up in joy and so are the players.
  • Review time! This time Imrul Kayes has been given out LBW. It looks plumb to the naked eye. Let's see what the replays have to say.
  • 6.2 Outside off, Kayes leaves it alone. This one swings leaps and bounds.

Both sides enter pastures new as they make their debut in Day-Night Test. The hosts would look to continue their dominance and inflict another whitewash in Tests. Unsure of how much factor dew will play, it will be interesting to see whether India go for their tried and tested formula of 2 spinners at home or will they remove one of them. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will have to be at their brilliant best it they are to surprise the cricketing world. It will be interesting to see whether or not they make any changes to their side after a horror show at Indore. In a filled Eden Gardens, can the Bangla Tigers roar so loud that it makes everyone else silent or will India continue their dominance?

India Vs Bangladesh Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Bangladesh's bowling was completely flat to say the least and their fielding too wasn't up to the mark. They were always behind the 8-ball and their only moment of joy came after they took the second new ball. Their bowlers made it talk and picked up four wickets in quick time. Al-Amin Hossain, Abu Jayed and Ebadot Hossain picked 8 wickets among themselves but failed to create the kind of impact Bangladesh would have wanted. Now, it's up to their batsmen to show some fight and resilience against the lethal pace battery of India. They have a deficit of 241 to negate first. Do join us in a short while.
  • Summing up India's reply to Bangladesh's paltry first innings total, once again it was their skipper, Virat Kohli, who stood up to the challenge of the alien conditions and notched up yet another century in his illustrious career. Pujara and Rahane batted around him to construct vital partnerships and together, it was a strong reply by the home team against some lacklustre bowling by the Bangla team.

  • Pitch report - Sunil Gavaskar starts by saying that Bangladesh's batting was very ordinary on Day 1. Feels they got overwhelmed by the occasion and adds that the full house can deter any team. Tells that the ball didn't swing as much as it did in Indore and it was poor batting. Reckons that it's still a very good pitch to bat on. Mentions that the batsmen need to be careful early on and then there will be runs on offer. Praises the groundsmen for thinking out of the box as they used jute bags and extra protection to avoid dew setting in on the ground during the last session. • 13 wickets, a fifer for a bowler, not one but two concussion substitutes, Bangladesh getting overawed by the situation, Indian openers getting dismissed cheaply for a change, Pujara and Kohli showing their mettle under demanding conditions - Those were the highlights of the first day of the historic Day-Night Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. • There is nothing to talk about Bangladesh though. They were poor with the bat yet again and folded for just 106. They surely will be disappointed with that. Their bowlers have done a little better bowling probing lines and lengths even managing to get the wicket of Mayank Agarwal. They could have had another wicket to their kitty had Al-Amin Hossain not dropped Rohit Sharma. They still have a long way to go and would look to take quick wickets quickly. Now, what to expect after the break? Will the Indians continue to dominate or will the visitors' show some fight? Join us in a while to find out.

Remember his 264 in an ODI against Sri Lanka, he was dropped on 4 and then went on to play a innings which is yet to be broken. Short of a length delivery on middle, Rohit plays his favourite shot and times it well. Al-Amin is stationed at deep square leg for that very reason. He settles under it and makes a complete hash of it. Will this come back to haunt them?

India Vs Bangladesh Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • That brings an end to this one-sided Test series. The number one Test team has extended their winning run in Tests to 7 (their best ever) and they are looking like an unstoppable unit. As far as the ICC World Test Championship is concerned, India now have 360 points and no other team is even close to them. They will now take a break in this format as their next assignment is in New Zealand in February. For now, the home side will get ready to host West Indies in white-ball cricket. Bangladesh will return home and will have to do a lot of soul-searching. We look forward to your company in future. Cheers!
  • Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, says it's amazing that the crowd numbers are getting better. Adds that he did not expect too much crowd today going by the situation they were in and it was good to see the crowd cheering for us today as well. Adds that, similarly when they go overseas, it is their belief that makes them win matches and it is their mindset which helps them and without that they cannot win. Goes on to say that Test cricket is a mental challenge and earlier they used to get hit but now they have learnt to give it back and it all started with Dada's team. Says that the Man of the Match was rightly given to a bowler as picking up nine wickets in India is not easy. On his batting, Kohli says that it is good to get runs and lead from the front.
  • Ishant Sharma is adjudged the Man of the Match and Series! Jokingly says Shami told him to give whatever he is carrying in his pocket to him. On bowling from around the wicket to the left-handers and bringing the ball in, Ishant says that all the bowlers learned it in the last game and they showed it to Bharat Arun who said it was a fluke. Goes on to add that he bowled it in this game and got a wicket. On the pink ball, it was not swinging much in the day but it happened a bit during the evening.
  • Mominul Haque, the Bangladesh skipper, is up first. He says it is a concern that they were defeated in this manner and they are certainly disappointed with that. Says that the pink ball is different than the other balls and it is definitely a challenge to face these pink ones. Counts the performance of Ebadot Hossain along with Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das and Mahmudullah as the positives. Finishes off by saying that fielding first would not have made much of a difference as the pitch was a dry one.
  • Bharat Arun turns up for an interview now! Tells that the bowlers hunt as a pack and they take pride in each other's success. Adds that they work on the basics. Further says that they have an experienced bowling attack and they quickly adapt to the bowling conditions. On playing their next Test in New Zealand, Arun replies that playing there is going to be a big challenge and it is going to be fun.
  • The Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri, is also down now for an interview along with the bowling coach Bharat Arun. Shastri is feeling proud as an Indian as they are dominating the game in the last few years. Further goes on to say that the players have discipline and they are hungry to win every game. States that there is no shortcut and they know that they have to put in the hard work on all the five days. On Bangladesh, Shastri tells that they are a very strong side back home but he feels they need more exposure. Mentions that they did miss the services of Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. Advises them to work on their pace attack.
  • Sanjay Manjrekar is down for an interview with Wriddhiman Saha, the local lad. The wicketkeeper says that they have got excellent pace bowlers in the last 3-4 years and it is a challenge for him behind the wickets. Informs that the pink ball was doing a lot under lights. Mentions that while keeping to the fast bowlers, he just follows what he has learnt and watches the ball carefully till the last moment. He ranks Jasprit Bumrah as the no. 1 bowler followed by Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav.
  • Agreed it was always a mismatch against the mighty Indian team but the way Bangladesh surrendered without putting up a fight was disappointing. Skill to bat or bowl against quality opponents won't develop overnight but one can always show better application and temperament. The Bangla team should look at the way Mushfiqur Rahim gutted it out in the middle and learn from the best they have in the dressing room. Their bowling cannot be faulted much as they did bowl their hearts out and all their pacers were impressive in patches. They should be looked after well back home where Bangladesh only concentrate on making spinning decks and completely ignore the fast bowlers. You cannot expect them to turn up without much exposure overseas and deliver the goods. To win a Test match you need to pick 20 wickets and there has to be a proper balance between pace and spin in the bowling attack. Quicker they learn better it will be for them. Time for some interviews...
  • Bangladesh are yet to develop as a Test team, especially away from home. They have been abysmal over the years whenever touring and have always underperformed. For argument sake, one can point towards the absence of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan but the stats never lie and it tells that Bangladesh have been the same with them or without them in this format. Yes, they fight slightly better but that doesn't materialize into victory.
  • Fueled by the aggression of Sourav Ganguly and nurtured by the calmness of MS Dhoni, this Indian team has turned into a beast and Virat Kohli is not only the beneficiary but also the worthy leader of a unit playing a fiery brand of cricket. Over the years, India have produced many batting greats but were always short on quality in their bowling attack. There was a time they used to hunt for bowlers in domestic cricket who can bowl at a decent pace but time has changed and the last five years have seen the emergence of bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami. The resurgence of Ishant Sharma and the recent improvement shown by Umesh Yadav has further bolstered their bowling and the kind of impact they have started to make has made them one of the deadliest attacks in world cricket.
  • The historic and the maiden Day-Night Test took a little over two days to fetch us a result. As has been the case, it was a no match. Bangladesh were overwhelmed on the first day of the pink ball Test. They were shot down for just 106 and from thereon it was only catch up for them. The Indian batting didn't waste much time in adjusting to the alien conditions and powered by Virat Kohli's century, they amassed a big first inning's lead. The story of Bangladesh's batting didn't change second time around as well and apart from Mushfiqur Rahim no one showed the stomach for a fight. Ishant Sharma was the standout performer with the ball and finished with a 9-wicket haul in this Test while Umesh Yadav wasn't too far behind with 8 wickets.
  • A quick finish was expected and a quick finish it is! India have taken less than 10 overs to bundle out Bangladesh and taking the series 2-0! Also, notably all the wickets in this Test match were taken by their pacers which in itself is amazing and shows the strength of their pace battery.
  • 41.1 OUT! Umesh Yadav picks a fifer (his third in Tests) and wins the individual battle with Ishant Sharma! Mahmudullah won't come out to bat so INDIA WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 46 RUNS and become the first team to complete four successive innings wins. A back of a length ball on middle, Al-Amin hangs on the back foot to play it loosely with a straight bat but it kisses the outside edge and flies behind to Saha. He catches it with ease and they all appeal. The finger has gone up and the Indian team is ecstatic. The crowd is loving it and the players are exchanging smiles and hugs.
  • 40.6 Shami has slightly hurt himself! Ishant spears in a yorker on middle, Jayed digs it out towards short mid-wicket and looks for a run. The fielder has a shy at the bowler's end but fails to find the stumps. Shami trying to back up the throw is hit on his leg and it deflects away. Now the batsmen complete the single. 195/8
  • 40.5 Better this time from Ishant. He angles in a length ball from middle and leg, Al-Amin makes room to swing his bat but fails to connect again.
  • A fly slip comes into place now along with a fly gully.
  • 40.4 FOUR! Why would you bowl that length, screams Sunil Gavaskar on air? Rightly so. Target the stumps with a full length ball. Sharma bangs it in around leg, Al-Amin moves back to pull across the line but it takes the top edge and flies over the slip cordon for a boundary.
  • 40.3 Back of a length ball on off, Hossain pushes at it with firm hands but fails to make any connection.
  • 40.2 Around off on a good length, Hossain defends it from the back foot.
  • 40.1 Fullish and around off, Abu pushes it through mid off for a single.
  • Ishant Sharma is back on. We have a confirmation that Mahmudullah will not bat in this innings. So just one wicket left and both Umesh and Ishant would want to take that to complete their fifer. Good individual battle, this!
  • 39.6 Shortish again, around leg, Hossain fails to work it across the line cleanly. 189/8
  • 39.5 FOUR! That is a shot from a batsman with nothing to lose. Fearless. Back of a length ball on middle, Al-Amin stays back and thrashes it down to long off for a boundary.
  • 39.4 Umesh greets the batsman with a short delivery, Jayed shows good skills in ramping it over the slip cordon. The ball slows down in the deep and they take a single.
  • Abu Jayed is the new batsman.
  • 39.3 OUT! Fight over from Rahim and end is nigh for Bangladesh. Yadav dishes out a good length ball close to off, Rahim steps down the track to make room for an inside-out shot but ends up skying it in the air at covers. Jadeja is stationed there and he will not drop those even in his sleep. An excellent knock by Rahim is over and sadly for him, he won't be getting his maiden century in a Day-Night Test!
  • 39.2 Good length ball on off, Rahim blocks it from the back foot.
  • 39.1 Shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • Change of ends for Umesh Yadav.
  • 38.6 Hossain has played that off the front foot and into the ground. 184/7
  • 38.5 Shout for an lbw! The umpire shakes his head. Saha says 'baahar hai baahar' meaning that the impact is outside off. Jadeja delivers an arm ball around off, skidding in, Rahim attempts for a paddle sweep to play it fine on the leg side but fails to connect properly. It possibly goes off his pads towards fine leg and they cross. Umpire Erasmus waits for the Indian skipper to take a call on the DRS and once the time runs out, he signals it as leg byes. Now then, the replays are shown and the impact is found to be in line so Saha is wrong with his advice and Jadeja has been robbed off a wicket here.
  • 38.4 FOUR! Conventional sweep this time! Flighted and full around off, Rahim stretches forward with a bent back knee and sweeps it from the outer portion of his bat. It flies in front of square leg and races away to the fence.
  • 38.3 Flatter and on off, defended off the back foot by Rahim.
  • 38.2 FOUR! Innovation from the little batsman. A tossed up ball landing on the fuller side outside off. Rahim quickly changes his stance and reverse sweeps it over backward point for a boundary. Moves into the 70s!
  • 38.1 Full and flighted around off, Rahim gets forward to push it back to the bowler.
  • Time for some spin! Ravindra Jadeja has been introduced into the attack.
  • 37.6 FOUR! Lucky boundary! Ishant follows the batsman down the leg side with a yorker, Al-Amin does well to bring his bat down in time. He jams it out from the bottom edge of his bat and it loops over the keeper on one bounce for a boundary. 175/7
  • 37.5 Stays on the back foot to defend but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
  • 37.4 Stifled appeal for an lbw! Nothing doing. You will need 3-4 more stumps to get that lbw. Ishant delivers it on a length around middle and leg and gets it to drift down. Al-Amin stays leg side of this delivery and tries to work it around. Fails to do so and takes a blow on his pads. A muted appeal from the Indian players but it's over-optimistic.
  • 37.3 Aahhh... typical tail-ender! Gets carried away with the previous shot. Ishant feeds him room outside off, it's short in length and outside off, Al-Amin flashes and misses.
  • 37.2 FOUR! Nicely played in the end by Bangladesh's number 9! Shortish delivery around off, Hossain is on his toes as he controls the bounce well and then guides it wide of the slip cordon for a boundary.
  • 37.1 Miscommunication and nearly a run out! Back of a length ball on off, Al-Amin pushes it from the crease to cover-point and comes out of the crease in search of a run. Rahim could have responded but seeing Jadeja attacking the ball, he sends his partner back. Sir misses his shy at the striker's end as Hossain parks his bat inside the line. The replays show that direct hit would have consumed Al-Amin.
  • 36.6 FOUR! Bat on ball this time and it has gone to the fence. This means that Al-Amin Hossain will have to face the next over. Short in length and around leg, it goes down with the angle, Rahim stands tall and pulls it fine down the leg side for a boundary. 167/7
  • 36.5 Another bouncer down the leg side, Rahim this time tries pulling but fails to make any contact.
  • 36.4 Bouncer this time. Around middle and leg, Rahim ducks underneath it. Not sure what Bangladesh will gain from this approach.
  • 36.3 Shortish and around off, Rahim is on the back foot and steers it down to third man. Another run turned down.
  • 36.2 Back of a length ball on off, Rahim once again keeps his weight on the back leg and pushes it through covers. Not interested in rotating the strike.
  • 36.1 Good length ball around off, Rahim defends it from the back foot to covers.
  • 35.6 Fullish and around middle and leg, Rahim clips it off his pads and it races through square leg. The fielder in the deep moves across to his left to stop the ball and Rahim picks a single to keep strike with himself. 163/7
  • 35.5 Swing and a miss! Rahim attempted something similar in the previous over of Ishant as well. Only difference is that this time he stayed rooted to his crease. Back of a length ball around off, Rahim camps back and tries to hoick it over the leg side but fails to make any contact.
  • 35.4 Played through mid-wicket by the batsman. Two runs added to the total.
  • 35.3 A little bit of movement off the pitch. A length ball close to off and shaping away, Rahim stays back to play it straight but it takes the outer half and speeds through point. No run taken. Strange. There was a possibility for two.
  • 35.2 Good length and around off, Rahim gets behind the line in defense.
  • 35.1 Edgy! Good length ball close to off, Rahim plays at it with an angled bat and it takes the outer half before rolling towards Rahane at gully.
  • 34.6 FOUR! Very full in length and too straight in line, Al-Amin clips it off his pads and it races away through mid-wicket for a boundary. 160/7
  • 34.5 Good length ball on off, angling in, Hossain gets forward and pushes it with an angled bat to point.
  • Physio comes out. The mandatory concussion test is going on. Al-Amin Hossain appears to be fine to continue.
  • 34.4 BANG ON THE HELMET! Not for the first time in this Test match. Have lost count. Umesh bangs it in short on middle, Hossain takes his eyes off the ball as he tries to duck. It hits the back of his helmet and then runs down to fine leg for a boundary. Given as FOUR LEG BYES as the batsman was taking evasive action.
  • 34.3 Yet another bouncer, this time in the line of the stumps, Al-Amin ducks underneath it.
  • 34.2 A bouncer down the leg side, Al-Amin has an easy leave.
  • Al-Amin Hossain is in next.
  • 34.1 OUT! Soft dismissal! Umesh Yadav has bounced out Ebadot Hossain. He digs in a well-directed short ball around off and it gets high on the batsman. Ebadot is stuck on the back foot trying to get away from the line. But he has his bat hanging there and the ball takes the splice of his willow. It lobs up to third slip where Virat Kohli takes the simplest of catches.
  • 33.6 Solidly behind the line of the delivery again. Rahim keeps it out safely and plays out a maiden. 152/6
  • 33.5 Good length delivery on off, defended sensibly from the back foot by Rahim.
  • 33.4 Well...well...well... What was that from Rahim? He wants to dominate Ishant. He wants to negate whatever movement the bowler is getting from the pitch. Rahim dances down the track to a length ball around off and tries to heave it across the line. Fails to make any connection and is lucky that it goes away from the stumps.
  • 33.3 Beaten all ends up! This is what Ishant has been doing with great success. He lands this one on a good length just around off and gets it to straighten from there. Rahim is forced to play the trajectory and is beaten all ends up.
  • 33.2 Ishant gets closer to the off stump line this time and bowls it on a fuller length. Rahim plays at it close from his body and pushes it gently to cover-point.
  • 33.1 Starts with a good length delivery in the zone outside off, Rahim finds the line to be too wide to make any attempt to play at it.
  • Ishant Sharma to bowl from the other end. He is one shy of his second 10-wicket haul in Tests. Can he pick at least one from the remaining ones? Two slips and a gully in place. Rahim on strike...
  • 32.6 That's the sucker ball. Umesh lands it on a length and close to the off stump line, Hossain feels for it without any footwork and gets beaten. 152/6
  • 32.5 A cracking yorker, on middle at 132 kph, Ebadot keeps his eyes on the ball and digs it out at the last moment.
  • 32.4 Poor beginning. A gentle loosener. Very full and down the leg side, Ebadot tries to flick but misses.
  • Time to get going! Out come the two umpires followed by the Indian players. Mushfiqur Rahim takes the centre stage and he is joined by Ebadot Hossain in the middle. This means Mahmudullah has not yet recovered from his hamstring injury. Umesh Yadav to complete his unfinished over.
  • Pitch report - Sunil Gavaskar starts by saying that don't worry about the pitch and opines that Bangladesh are a very ordinary team with very ordinary application and they will struggle on most pitches regardless of the conditions and the colour of the ball. Deep Dasgupta points the landing area of the bowlers that required some repair work last evening but it's not required today which indicates that it's still a good wicket to bat on. The Little Master signs off by repeating that the surface doesn't matter much and this Test match will end sooner rather than later.
  • Welcome ladies and gentlemen on a Sunday afternoon for the last rites in this Test match. Just four wickets separate India from sending Bangladesh home empty handed and going by the way things have gone so far, we should be in for a quick finish. Having said that, Bangladesh fought quite bravely last evening and their first target will be to wipe off the current 89-run deficit and make the home team bat again. Mushfiqur Rahim is the last man standing for them and he will hope for some support from the remaining batsmen. Mahmudullah's fitness is still unknown and we will have to wait for any update. Stay tuned for more...
  • ... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...
  • Right then, it appears to be a matter of minutes on Sunday. Although as Rahane said in his post-match interview, cricket is a funny game and anything can happen. Keeping that in mind, we would not get too ahead of ourselves. Do join us at 1300 local (0730 GMT) for all the action. Cheers!
  • Yet another exciting day of Test cricket comes to a close. India inch closer to 2-0 and are just four wickets away from achieving it. Earlier in the day, their skipper notched up a fabulous century and entertained the crowd with his sumptuous shots. Later on, batting got tougher during the twilight period and at one stage they lost wickets in clumps. However, all that happened after they were on safer shores. Post that, Ishant Sharma bowled with a lot of fire and venom and along with Umesh Yadav decimated the Bangladeshi batting yet again. Sharma has now taken 9 wickets in the match and would be eyeing his second 10-wicket haul in Tests on Day 3.
  • Ajinkya Rahane is up for an interview. Says that it's been wonderful and he is glad to be a part of this historic Test match. Adds that once the lights are on, it becomes challenging for the batsmen and feels that the first session is best for batting as there isn't a lot of lateral movement. Tells that the twilight period has always been challenging and it becomes slightly easier in the third session due to the dew setting in. Mentions that as a batting unit you try to play positive cricket and then cash in later on. States that he is enjoying watching the pacers bowl from gully, both with the red ball and the pink one. On his dropped catches, Rahane replies that he has to take it in a positive way as it happens in cricket and attitude matters a lot after dropping a catch. Feels that they still have to come hard at Bangladesh and not look too far ahead as cricket is a funny game.
  • Bangladesh fought bravely in this session but they were already shot on the foot early on with the wickets of Mohammad Mithun and Imrul Kayes. Mushfiqur Rahim has led the charge with a fine knock and his partnership with Mahmudullah would have given some relief and sense of respect to the dressing room. They somewhat recovered from 13/4 but then the injury to Mahmudullah cut short their brief resistance. Still, it was a session full of runs as the touring party scored 145 runs in it at a brisk pace. Had their top order shown some resilience and skill, Bangladesh could have been in a fighting position heading into Day 3.
  • 32.3 OUT! The short delivery has finally consumed Taijul Islam. He never looked comfortable against the short pitched deliveries. Yadav sensed that and bangs it in around off. Taijul goes on his toes to fend at it but it takes the shoulder of his bat and flies to gully. Rahane takes a catch and will be relieved. With that it will also be STUMPS ON DAY 2!
  • 32.2 HIT ON THE GLOVES AGAIN! Umesh digs in a short ball around off, Taijul tries to duck but with his eyes closed and gloves in front of his face. It hits him on the gloves and drops in front of Rahane at gully. Lucky escape.
  • 32.1 A touch short in length and outside off, Taijul plays it from the back foot but finds the point fielder.
  • Umesh Yadav is brought back into the attack. This in all likelihood will be the last over of the day.
  • 31.6 In the channel outside off, on a good length, Rahim has allowed it to the keeper. 152/5
  • 31.5 Sliding down the leg side, Rahim tries flicking but misses.
  • 31.4 A well-directed bouncer by Shami, it's around middle and leg. Taijul is hurried up and fends it away hurriedly. The ball runs down to fine leg and they cross.
  • 31.3 Angles in a length ball on off, Taijul forces it through the line but finds the cover fielder.
  • 31.2 Play and a miss! Shami delivers a short ball wide outside off, Taijul throws his bat at it and misses.
  • 31.1 Chooses to leave the ball outside his off stump.
  • Mohammed Shami is back on.
  • 30.6 Quicker and flatter on off, defended off the back foot. 151/5
  • 30.5 NOT OUT! Rahim has gloved it! Flighted ball landing full around off, the batsman attempts to sweep but fails to middle his shot. As soon as it hits him on the pads, the Indians appeal and umpire Erasmus lifts his finger. Rahim though is very confident and takes the referral. The replays roll in and they show that before hitting the pads, the ball had brushed the gloves. Rahim stays.
  • Shout for an lbw! Rahim is hit in front of the wickets and the umpire raises his finger. The former Bangladesh skipper though is confident that he has hit it and the same comes in the replays also after he takes the DRS. Gloved it.
  • 30.4 FOUR! Well played! Shortish and outside off, Rahim uses the depth of his crease as he hammers it square of the wicket on the off side for a boundary.
  • 30.3 Shout for an lbw! Not given! A slider around off, skidding down, Taijul lunges to defend but misses. He is hit on the pads and the ball deflects to point as they cross. Now, this is interesting. Marais Erasmus waits to give his signal as he wants to know whether Virat Kohli is going for the referral or not. As soon has the timer stops after 15 seconds, it's given as a run.
  • 30.2 In the air... SAFE! Interesting choice of shot by Taijul. He tries to take on Ashwin. Goes for a big heave across the line but ends up skying it behind the bowler. It falls safely in the deep and the mid off fielder goes to collect the ball.
  • 30.1 Full and outside off, driven off the front foot to covers.
  • 29.6 Slightly short in length and outside off, shaping away off the seam, Rahim sticks back and then shoulders arms. 144/5
  • 29.5 Action replay of the previous delivery. Ishant hurls across a length ball outside off, Rahim leaves. The bowler slips in his followthrough as well. Is the landing area getting too slippery due to dew?
  • 29.4 Good length delivery in the channel outside off, Rahim shoulders arms.
  • 29.3 Back of a length ball around leg, Islam moves across the stumps and eases it down to fine leg for a run.
  • 29.2 Ouch! Ishant digs in a short ball around leg, Taijul rises to play at it but it takes his gloves and drops in front of the short leg fielder. Islam checks his fingers after that blow.
  • 29.1 Fuller length ball around off, angling in, Rahim gets half-forward and pushes it with gentle hands through point for a run.
  • 28.6 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. 142/5
  • 28.5 Skidding down the leg side from the middle stump line, Islam tries to flick but misses. The bowler gets excited for a while but nothing doing. Too high and easily going down.
  • 28.4 Strides forward to a full ball and defends it down safely.
  • 28.3 A flatter delivery, full and around off, skidding in, Taijul tries to defend off the front foot but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
  • 28.2 Lunges to defend it with soft hands but it takes the inner half of his bat and runs behind square leg for a single. The deficit is under 100 now.
  • 28.1 Full and flighted on off, Rahim gets forward and across before flicking it with the spin to short mid-wicket.
  • 27.6 Almost gloves it behind! Short in length and sliding down the leg side, Taijul attempts to glance it off his hips but fails to connect. 141/5
  • 27.5 FOUR! Even better this time from Taijul! Ishant is too straight with his line this time, Taijul picks it off his pads and flicks it with the angle of the bowler. Lovely timing and it speeds away across the fence at mid-wicket.
  • 27.4 Nicely played. Ishant angles in a length ball around off, from 'round the wicket, Taijul stays back and works it through square leg. Jadeja chases it down and the batsmen take a brace.
  • 27.3 Width on offer outside off, Rahim runs it down to third man for a run.
  • 27.2 Ishant nails his yorker around off, Rahim though is equally up to the challenge and jams it out safely.
  • 27.1 Beaten all ends up! Ishant gets a good length delivery outside off to move away after landing. Rahim pokes at it tentatively and misses.
  • 26.6 Yet another solid defensive shot by Taijul to complete this over. 134/5
  • 26.5 Presses forward to a full ball around off and blocks it safely.
  • 26.4 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 26.3 Gets behind the line of the delivery and helps it away towards mid-wicket.
  • 26.2 Skidding down the leg side, Islam tries to defend but misses and it goes off his pads to the leg side.
  • 26.1 Too full in length on middle, knocked down to long on for a run.
  • Will Mahmudullah come in next to bat? The answer is no. It's Taijul Islam who has come out to bat. He is one of the concussion substitutes in this game, if you remember.
  • 25.6 OUT! Ishant takes his revenge on the next ball! 9th wicket for him in this Test match. His line on this delivery is impeccable. He puts it on a good length and close to the off stump line. It nips away a bit after landing and Mehidy, completely flat-footed, has a needless poke inside the line. Gets a thick outside edge and it settles nicely into the hands of Virat Kohli at first slip. The Indian skipper makes no mistake and Bangladesh have now lost half their side, trailing by 108 runs. 133/5
  • 25.5 FOUR! Mehidy puts one away! Back of a length delivery outside off, Mehidy camps back and punches it behind square on the off side. It's wide of gully and races away to the fence. 50-run stand comes up!
  • 25.4 Flashes and misses! Short in length and wide outside off, Mehidy throws his bat at it but fails to make any contact.
  • 25.3 Quietly eases a length ball through point and picks up a single.
  • 25.2 FOUR! 21st Test fifty for Rahim, second in this series. A good length delivery outside off, Rahim pushes inside the line with an angled bat and guides it fine down to third man for a boundary. A responsible knock from the senior man and he is trying to show the way for others!
  • 25.1 Width on offer outside off, Rahim rocks back to cut but mistimes it towards the cover region.
  • Ishant Sharma is brought back into the attack. He bowled with a lot of fire in his initial spell and bagged a 3-fer. Can he add more to his tally?
  • 24.6 Strides forward to a full ball and pushes it to covers. 124/4
  • 24.5 Flighted and on middle, flicked on the leg side but straight to mid-wicket.
  • 24.4 Played to the point region by the batsman. One run added to the total.
  • 24.3 Good stop in the deep by Shami! He shows his football skills in Kolkata and the crowd roars. Tossed up ball around middle and leg, Rahim nudges it fine down the leg side and it races away. Shami moves swiftly across to his right in the deep and uses his right boot to make the stop. They take a couple of runs.
  • 24.2 Slower through the air on this occasion. It's full around off and spinning in, Rahim defends it by getting forward.
  • 24.1 Full and flighted on middle, Rahim gets forward with a straight bat and defends it back.
  • 23.6 Shami gets back to bowling over the wicket. Effort ball by him on this occasion. It's on a good length around off, having some extra lift, Mehidy crouches and makes a leave. Saha collects the ball over his head. 121/4
  • 23.5 SIX! How has that gone the distance? A leading edge has cleared third man. Shami bangs in a short ball around leg, Mehidy turns to play it on the leg side but it catches the leading half of his bat and flies over the fielder in the deep.
  • 23.4 Shami sticks to 'round the wicket even for Mehidy Hasan. He delivers a length ball wide outside off, Hasan has no issues in leaving it alone.
  • 23.3 Back of a length delivery on middle and off, angling away, Rahim remains put inside the crease and guides it using his hands to third man. A single is taken.
  • 23.2 Here comes the response from Shami. He switches to 'round the wicket and digs in a short ball around leg. Rahim sits underneath it.
  • 23.1 FOUR! Shot! Rahim has batted with good control. Shami pitches it up and outside off, he strides forward and drives it crisply on the up through covers. The ball races away to the fence in no time.
  • Drinks. A good passage of play for Bangladesh although they are way behind in this Test match. Mahmudullah and Rahim arrested the early fall of wickets and constructed a partnership but the injury to the former cut short that period for the visiting team. The fight is on from the current pair and let's see whether Mehidy Hasan make any use of the life gifted to him by Rahane.
  • 22.6 Shortish and on off, punched through covers for a run. 110/4
  • 22.5 The batsman has pushed it to the cover region. They pick up a single.
  • 22.4 DROPPED BY RAHANE! Ashwin gets a flatter delivery to skid on with the angle. Mehidy goes at it with hard hands and gets a thick outside edge to first slip. Rahane reacts but drops yet another catch in this Test series. He has been very poor of late.
  • 22.3 Skidding into the batsman from around off, Rahim taps it down from the crease to cover-point for one.
  • 22.2 FOUR! Rahim brings out one of his favourite shots and nails it. Tossed up ball landing outside off, Rahim goes down on one knee and sweeps it to the deep mid-wicket fence.
  • 22.1 Starts with a flighted full ball on middle, Rahim gets forward and pushes it towards mid on.
  • As expected, there is a bowling change. Ravichandran Ashwin to bowl with a slip and short leg in place.
  • 21.6 Full in length and close to off, Hasan pushes it with gentle hands to covers. They eye a run but then decide against it. 103/4
  • 21.5 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • Ishant Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin are warming up. We can see even Ravindra Jadeja going through the drills. Bowling change seems to be on the cards.
  • 21.4 In the channel outside off, quite wide in fact to trouble the batsman. Mehidy shoulders arms.

Umesh Yadav and the rest appeal. Umesh does not even wait for the umpire's decision and starts celebrating. Rahim looks for the single and takes off. The fielder from point has a shy at the bowler's end but misses it. Rahim instead of signaling the 'T', signals the sign which is used for third umpire decisions. • Time for the mandatory concussion check. This time it is Mushfiqur Rahim who has to go through the procedures. Ashwin asks him whether he is fine and he gives him a thumbs up. With that it is Drinks. A slightly better hour of play for Bangladesh as they lost two wickets pretty early on but have recovered well with the help of Rahim and Mahmudullah.
  • 14.3 OUCH! Another one that has gone onto hit the helmet! Short ball on middle, Rahim looks to duck under it but the ball does not bounce as much as he would expected. It goes on to hit the helmet and the ball lobs off to square leg. The batters steal a leg bye.

  • 8.4 Stays back and punches it square of the wicket on the off side. They take a couple of runs, Mahmudullah wants the third but Rahim sends him back.
  • 8.3 NOT OUT! India lose a review this time. Ishant's inswinger is not flicked cleanly by Rahim and he takes a beating on his front pad. Their appeal for an lbw falls on deaf ears and Virat Kohli trusts his bowler and goes for the review. The replays show that it's missing leg by a fair margin and Rahim is safe.
  • A screaming appeal for Ishant Sharma! Not for the first time in this innings. Rahim is the batsman in question. He has missed his flick shot and is rapped on the pads. The appeal is not entertained and Virat Kohli has taken the DRS. Clipping or missing? The ball is moving a lot as well. Excellent decision by umpire Erasmus. It's missing the leg stump by a fair margin.

Ishant delivers it on a length outside off and gets it to jag back into the batsman. Rahim covers his stumps and then shoulders arms. • Mahmudullah is the next man in.
  • 6.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Brilliant stuff from Ishant and Kohli as well. A length delivery in the line of the stumps and it moves away a shade after hitting the deck. Kayes gets squared up in an attempt to defend it from the crease and the ball goes towards Kohli at third slip. The Indian skipper dives across to his right and takes the catch. Looking at the Indian skipper's reaction after taking the catch, it seems that Kohli picked the ball very late but still manages to hold onto it. He gets up sticking his tongue out and a cheeky smile. Catching the pink ball under lights, especially in the slip cordon, ain't easy. Bangladesh falling like nine pins.
  • 6.3 Full delivery on off, Kayes looks to defend it but it goes off the leading edge towards gully where the fielder dives to stop the ball.

  • 5.5 Wide outside off stump, the batsman leaves it alone.
  • 5.4 Full and on off, Kayes pushes it firmly down the ground through mid off for a brace.
  • 5.3 Gently taps a length ball to the off side and gets off the mark in this Test match.
  • Mushfiqur Rahim is the new batsman. He is the most experienced campaigner of this team and needs to stand up for his team.
  • 5.2 OUT! Wicket number 3 goes down! Umesh bowled the first one in the fuller region and then immediately shortens it to surprise the batsman. Mithun probably picks the length late and is hurried into his pull shot. He mistimes it in the air towards short mid-wicket where Mohammed Shami moves back a bit and pouches the catch safely. Maybe, that hit on the head was still replaying in his mind. He could have either left it or pulled it with more conviction. But that fear didn't allow him to get on top of the bounce properly. If you remember, Mithun was out in a similar fashion in the second innings in Indore as well. Definitely a technical deficiency. India have struck early after Tea and Bangladesh continue to go downhill.
  • 5.1 Fine delivery and a good shot as well. Full and angling in on middle, it straightens a touch after landing, Mithun presents a straight bat and pushes it down the ground. The mid on fielder chases it and the batsmen take a couple of runs.
  • We're back for the final session of the second day which also could be the last day of this Test match. The way the pink ball is moving and the rhythm with which the Indian bowlers have bowled so far, it's pointing towards a quick finish. Will we get one? Umesh Yadav to steam in...
  • ... DAY 2, THIRD SESSION ...
  • An excellent session of Test cricket. As soon as the new ball was taken during India's batting, the much-talked about pink ball started to show its magic. Virat Kohli decided to declare after a lead of 241. Having lost 4 wickets for 23 runs the movement of the pink ball under lights might have also played a part in his decision. It proved to be a good call as the new ball did move viciously for India as well. Ishant Sharma managed to get two wickets in the 5 overs they bowled and also scared the visitors with his sharp bouncers. Bangladesh have a mammoth task in hand as they are still staring down at a big deficit and have already lost Shadman Islam and skipper Mominul Haque. Can Bangladesh fight out the day/evening or will this be the last day of this historic Test? Join us after the break to find out.
  • 4.6 Length ball on off, Kayes defends it. That will be Tea on Day 2! 7/2
  • 4.5 Another short ball. Mithun looks to get his bat up but the ball goes off his glove to the leg side for a single.
  • 4.4 Oh beauty this. Full and pacy it comes back in. Mithun manages to flick it to square leg.
  • 4.3 Ishant goes full on middle and leg. Mithun manages to defend it.
  • Bang on the helmet! Yet another victim of concussion in this Test? Surely not. Bangladesh don't have enough batsmen left in their squad. The physio rushes out. The mandatory concussion test is going on. Mohammad Mithun is looking fine but then Liton Das was also fine when tested but later felt the effect on Day 1. They need to be careful here. An extended conversation is going on between Mithun, physio and the umpires. Maybe, the officials want the batsman to go off if he is feeling dazed and allow the match to resume. Decision is made. Mithun is staying. Around 3 minutes left on the clock for Tea.
  • 4.2 Nasty! That must have shook him. Bouncer! A vicious one from Ishant. Mithun looks to duck under it but he is a bit late to do so. The ball hits him hard on his helmet. The Indian players go straight up to him and check on him. He looks a bit shocked as well. The physio is called upon. Let us hope that he is fine to continue as we have already seen two concussion-based substitutes in this game.
  • 4.1 NOT OUT! India continue to save their review but keep on failing to overturn the decision. Good length ball pitching on off, Mithun looks to flick but misses. The ball hits him on the front pad. The Indian players put in a loud appeal but the umpire is unmoved. Kohli signals the 'T'. Replay rolls in and it shows that the ball was going onto clip the leg pole. It is umpire's call.
  • DRS time yet again! Ishant Sharma roars in an appeal, he thinks he has trapped the striker in front. The umpire remains unmoved. Virat Kohli has a word with his bowler and then signals the T. Is it missing leg? Or clipping? Or hitting? The impact is in line but it's clipping the leg stump. Umpire's call.
  • 3.6 Length ball on the pads, Mithun looks to flick but gets hit on the thigh pad. Ohhs and ahhs from the Indian players but nothing else. Was going well over. 6/2

  • 2.6 No pair for Mithun. Full on middle and off, Mithun flicks it through mid-wicket and gets his first runs in pink-ball Tests. 4/2
  • Mohammad Mithun is the new man in. Can he open his account in Day-Night Tests?
  • 2.5 OUT! Caught! Second wicket for Ishant. The Bangladesh skipper grabs a pair. A forgetful series for him. Ishant goes wide of the crease and bowls it very full outside off. Mominul looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge. It goes to the left of Saha and he takes a simple catch. The crowd are up in celebration and so are the Indian players. Bangladesh 2/2 and they are in all kind of trouble here. Mominul becomes only the 3rd Bangladeshi skipper to grab a pair. Not a record he would like to be part of.
  • 2.4 Full on off, Haque defends it off the front foot.
  • 2.3 Good length ball outside off, Haque leaves it alone.
  • 2.2 Full and wide outside off, Mominul looks to drive but misses. The ball goes to Saha on the bounce. He does well to take it on the dive.
  • 2.1 Full and wide outside off. Mominul tries to tease that one but misses.
  • 1.6 Imrul and Bangladesh get off the mark. Good length ball on middle and off, Kayes flicks it through square leg and gets a couple to end the over. 2/1
  • 1.5 Full and angling in. Kayes manages to flick it to the on side.
  • 1.4 Length ball around off, Kayes looks to defend but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
  • 1.3 Full and jagging back in just a bit. Kayes strokes it uppishly towards mid on.
  • 1.2 Hits the deck hard around off, Imrul defends it by hopping up.
  • 1.1 Umesh steams in and bowls a length ball on off first up. Kayes defends it from within the crease.
  • Umesh Yadav to partner Ishant Sharma from the other end.
  • 0.6 Back of a length ball on off, Mominul is hurried up in his back foot defense. Cracking first over by Ishant, a wicket maiden! 0/1
  • Skipper Mominul Haque walks in next at number 3. He bagged a duck in the first innings and will be nervous.
  • 0.5 OUT! This was coming with the way Ishant was making the ball talk. He bowled a plenty of away swingers in the zone outside off and suddenly changed his line. Served it around middle and off and got it to shape away a shade. Shadman was caught inside the crease, trying to work it away. But he missed it and got rapped on the back leg. The Indian players appealed and the finger went up. Shadman decided to refer the decision but it's of no use. The third umpire found the impact to be in line of the off stump and then it was shown to be tickling the off pole. Umpire's call stays. Only saving grace for Bangladesh is that they didn't lose their review.
  • Huge shout for an lbw! The finger has gone up. Shadman Islam walks up to his partner and then signals for the referral. Looks like the impact is with the umpire's call. Let's find out in the replays. Wow! The impact is in line and it's clipping the off stump. First blood drawn. The crowd has gone bonkers.
  • 0.4 Big movement! Ishant pitches it up and outside off, getting it to move away, Shadman shows no footwork as he leaves again.
  • 0.3 Another delivery close to off stump but not close enough to bother the batsman. Islam covers his stumps and leaves it alone.
  • 0.2 Well collected by Saha! He has been brilliant behind the stumps. Brilliant delivery by Ishant again. He bowls it close to off stump and then it nips away. Islam shoulders arms and Saha dives across to his left to collect the ball.
  • 0.1 Movement straightaway for Ishant. He begins his spell with a length delivery in the channel outside off and gets it to move away off the seam. Shadman makes a watchful leave.
