  • The pitch looks a belter to bat on but needs application to get runs. After the 14th over bowled by the chinaman, no other batter could hang around for long. Only David Willey hit a few to drag the team's total to 159. It has been a comprehensive performance from the Indian bowlers, now their batsmen need to chase it down to stamp their authority first up. The second innings start soon, hang around!
  • Oh boy! What a beginning to the tour of England for the Men in Blue. It started with the English openers getting into the attacking mode first up. Jos Buttler and Jason Roy put a 50-run stand to get their team up and running. However, once Umesh Yadav got the wicket of Roy, the floodgates opened. Buttler sprayed his shots all over the park in his 69 off 46 balls but couldn't stop carnage at the other end. The terminator, Kuldeep Yadav flighted the ball nicely and cleaned up the middle-order practically in one over. He took three in that and ended up with a 5-fer, his career-best.
  • 19.6 Angled ball wide outside off, Willey flashes and gets it uppishly to covers. The fielder from the deep runs in but can't stop the batsmen from taking two. Just 8 from the final over and ENGLAND FINISH ON 159!
  • 19.5 A length ball in line of the stumps, Liam gets and inside edge onto his pads as the ball drops adjacent to the pitch. One run is taken.
  • 19.4 Full and wide, David manages to get it through covers for a single.
  • 19.4 Wide! Similar delivery from Kumar, Willey reaches out for it but misses. Another wide signalled by the umpire. Perhaps a little too harsh on the bowler.
  • 19.4 Wide! Too wide outside the tramline, wide signalled by the umpire.
  • 19.3 Similar delivery, pushed down to the long on region for a single.
  • 19.2 On a length in line of the stumps, PLunkett swings but only mistimes it to the bowler.
  • 19.1 A full ball outside off, David goes after it and gets it off the inside edge. MSD dives to his right and stops the ball. The batsmen run for a single as the throw fro behind the stumps gets to the bowler at non-strikers end. No harm done in the end as a run is taken.
  • 18.6 A full toss on middle, Willey hits it down to long on and keeps strike for the next over. Exact what England wanted. Just three from the penultimate over. Not what England wanted. 151/8
  • 18.5 Another dot! Precious at this stage! Once again bowls it wide outside off, Willey swings but does not connect.
  • 18.4 Back of a length on off, Liam guides it to point for a run to bring up the 150.
  • Liam Plunkett is the new man in.
  • 18.3 OUT! Jordan bags a first ball duck! An unfortunate dismissal you can say! It is a full toss on middle, an inswinging one. Jordan tries to drive but gets an inside edge onto his boot. The ball lobs up back to the bowler who takes it in his followthrough. Can India now bowl England out?
  • 18.2 A yorker on off, Willey jams it out to covers. Two good deliveries to start with by Yadav.
  • 18.1 Full and outside off, Willey tries to slice it through the off side but does not connect.
  • Umesh Yadav is into the attack.
  • 17.6 On the pads, played through mid-wicket for a single to end another successful over. Kuldeep Yadav's figures read 4-0-24-5. Take a bow, you beauty! 148/7
  • 17.5 SIX! A tossed up delivery on the pads, David goes down on one knee and slog sweeps it over the square leg fence for a huge one. He is playing a handy cameo here.
  • Chris Jordan is the next man in.
  • 17.4 OUT! A 5-fer for Kuldeep Yadav. His first in T20Is. Buttler doesn't last the distance. What a start to the tour for the wrist spinner. He has upset Buttler's rhythm and got him out eventually. He flights this one again around off, similar delivery to the dropped catch two balls back. Jos throws his bat at it again and skies it. The ball goes straight up in the air towards long on and Virat Kohli takes the catch to send him home. What a revelation Kuldeep has been for India.
  • 17.3 In line of the stumps, kept out with a straight bat.
  • 17.2 In the air... and dropped! Yadav is unhappy with this. He flights this one around off and entices Buttler goes for a big one who obliges. The ball goes in the air off the outer half of the ball. KL Rahul runs back towards the long off boundary but couldn't even get a hand to it. The fielder at long on should have taken this. A chance for Jos. Will he make India pay for it?
  • 17.1 A flatter ball on middle and leg, Jos gets it to square leg and takes two.
  • Kuldeep Yadav comes back for his last over.
  • 16.6 Two Leg Byes! Full on the pads, luckily David missed the ball and gets him on his pads. Two runs results from the fine region. 137/6
  • 16.6 Wide! Another one down the leg side, wide signalled.
  • 16.6 Wide! This one is down the leg side and Willey leaves it alone. The Umpire signals a wide.
  • 16.5 FOUR! Crisp. A beauty from Willey. Kumar is losing the plot here. He strays on the pads once again and David makes him pay. He clips it from there and gets it fine down the leg side for second boundary of the over.
  • 16.4 FOUR! Shot! Makes some room to play the fuller delivery and Kumar follows him. The goes through the shot and pierces the gap between covers and mid off. 12 off 4 already.
  • 16.3 On a length around off, blocked down the track for nothing.
  • 16.2 Kumar goes around the wicket and delivers a back of a length delivery around middle and off, Willey flicks it through mid-wicket and takes a brace.
  • 16.1 SIX! A gentle gift to Willey first up. Short down the leg, all David has to do is put bat to it, which he does and gets it over the boundary behind the keeper. England needed this.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes back into the attack.
  • 15.6 A wicket and two dots to end another very good over for India. Pandya ends his spell with figures of 4-0-33-1. A job done well by the all-rounder. He bowls his last ball on a length around middle, Buttler pushes it back to the bowler. 117/6
  • 15.5 Fuller on the pads, Buttler flicks it to square leg.
  • David Willey is the new man in.
  • 15.4 OUT! Another one bites the dust! England are falling apart here. Moeen Ali now makes his way back to the dug out. It is a short ball from Pandya and it is outside off. Ali tries to drag his pull through the leg side, never a good idea that. He gets a top edge which balloons high up in the air towards Raina at covers who accepts a dolly.
  • 15.3 Better from Pandya, full and on off, Ali finds the man at covers with his drive.
  • 15.2 FOUR! But if you get balls like that, the batsman will always put it away. On the pads, Ali flicks it through backward square leg for a much-needed boundary.
  • 15.1 Eases it down to long on for a run.
  • Hardik Pandya to bowl out. A good move by Kohli. He knows the batsmen will not go for the big shots and hence, he decides to end Pandya's spell.
  • 14.6 Two dots to end the over! Full again on off, Ali strokes it to mid off. Just three from this over, India turning the screws here. 112/5
  • 14.5 Hits the length hard on off, Ali defends it onto the ground.
  • 14.4 Length again on off, Buttler times it through covers and takes another single.
  • 14.3 A short ball aimed at the rib cage of the batsman. Ali tries to pull but the ball hurries onto him. It hits the gloves and goes down to fine leg for a run.
  • 14.2 Back of a length on off, Ali off the back foot defends it onto the ground.
  • 14.1 Fuller on off, Buttler strokes it through covers and gets to the other end. How watchful will he be now?
  • Umesh Yadav is back on.
  • 13.6 A touch short on the hips, Buttler works it to the on side and keeps the strike for the next over. What an over from the chinaman. He has brought his team back into the contest single-handedly. 109/5
  • 13.5 Not a delivery to bowl for your hat-trick. Flatter on pads, Ali gets it to fine leg off the inside half of the bat and takes a single.
  • Moeen Ali is the next man in.
  • 13.4 OUT! Joe Root has not got his bat down in time! Goodness gracious! Kuldeep Yadav has made a mess of the in-form English batting line-up. Another cracker to follow the last one. Another wrong 'un, tossed up around off, Joe comes forward to push at the ball. It sneaks past the outside edge and goes to Dhoni. He fumbles it initially but gathers it eventually and removes the bails. The decision has been taken to the third umpire but the Indians are already celebrating. Replays find Root short and Dhoni now has the most stumpings in T20Is. Three wickets in four balls and Yadav is on a hat-trick here.
  • Has Root gone off his first ball? The Indians are celebrating but the umpire has taken it upstairs to check. It is a referral for a stumping.
  • Joe Root makes his way out to the middle.
  • 13.3 OUT! Kuldeep Yadav, remember the name. What an absolute peach from him. A tossed up wrong 'un outside off, it pitches and goes past the flashing blade of Bairstow. He throws his bat at it but misses it. MS Dhoni is quick as a hawk and removes the bails in a jiffy. Jonny doesn't even wait for the signal as he knows he dragged his leg out of his crease. Two wickets in three deliveries and Yadav has pushed the English team back.
  • 13.2 Played to the mid-wicket region by Jos. They pick up a single.
  • Jonny Bairstow is the next man in.
  • 13.1 OUT! A much-needed breakthrough for India to say the least. Not a good shot from the skipper, Eoin Morgan. A flighted delivery around off, he goes for the slog sweep but only manages to sky it towards the mid-wicket region. Opposition skipper, Virat Kohli, stationed himself there for such shots and takes this catch comfortably. He has a smile on his face. Kuldeep Yadav is looking dangerous for England.
  • 12.6 Outside off, pushed down the long on region for a single. Chahal completes his quota. 106/2
  • 12.5 Flatter in line of the stumps, defended down the track for nothing.
  • 12.4 Another sweep off the flighted delivery by Eoin. Takes two from the fine leg region.
  • 12.4 Wide! Too wide outside off, the umpire signals wide this time.
  • 12.3 Wide outside off, Morgan cuts it behind point. One run taken.
  • 12.2 No spin there. A wide leg spinner, just inside the tramline. Buttler thinks it is a wide and leaves but the umpire doesn't agree with him.
  • 12.1 Googly wide outside off, Eoin plays it through cover-point and takes a single.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal comes for a bowl.
  • 11.6 On the pads this time, flicked nicely to mid-wicket as they scamper for a quick double. A successful over for Yadav comes to an end. 100/2
  • 11.5 Flatter on middle and off, pushed down the track for nothing.
  • 11.4 Morgan plays the paddle sweep first up. Loopy ball on middle and leg, Eoin gets down on his knees and plays it fine. Rohit at fine leg runs to his left and puts in the dive to save a single for his team.
  • Eoin Morgan is the next man in.
  • 11.3 OUT! And gone! Hales never looked comfortable against the chinaman. He tosses this one up on leg, Hales moves across to play the slog sweep but misses it altogether. The ball rattles the stumps as England lose their second.
  • 11.2 Flighted on middle and off, defended after taking few steps down the pitch.
  • 11.1 Pushed through on the pads, blocked by Hales down the track.
  • 10.6 A length ball in line of the stumps, played through mid-wicket for another run. 18 runs off the over. 95/1
  • 10.5 A full ball on the pads, Hales flicks it and takes a brace.
  • 10.4 Again short. Pulled to mid-wicket for a single after three consecutive boundaries.
  • 10.3 FOUR! Another rocket. He is taking Pandya to the cleaners here. A shortish delivery outside off, Jos his right leg away from the crease and punches it through covers for another boundary.
  • 10.2 SIX! Punished by Buttler. You can't bowl short to him and if you do, he will hit it all day. He gets to his fifty in style. His 7th in this format. His purple patch continues. He gets a ball on his body. Jos moves away from the crease and flat-bats it over the square leg boundary as the ball sails into the stands. He raises his bat to acknowledge the applause by the crowd.
  • 10.1 FOUR! Nicely done by Buttler here. He was almost deceived by the slower one but manages to swat it off the back foot. The fielder from long on runs to his right, puts in the dive but couldn't stop the ball. A boundary.
  • Hardik Pandya comes back for another over.
  • 9.6 Yes, he does! Only a single. This is full and fast outside off, Buttler only hits it down to long off for a run. So once again, even though a boundary is hit in the over it does not go for a lot. Just 5 from it and just 27 from the last 5 overs. 77/1
  • Second time in the over Yadav pulls out. Not sure about the reason.
  • 9.5 4 dots in a row! So this has been a brilliant one after the boundary of the first ball. Another googly outside off, Jos pushes it towards cover. Can he now end this over well?
  • 9.4 Make that three dots after the boundary! This is full and fast by Yadav. Almost a yorker. Buttler jams it out towards the bowler.
  • 9.3 Well bowled! The googly on middle, Buttler defends it. So two dots after the boundary. England finding it difficult to rotate strike.
  • 9.2 Slower through the air on off, Buttler pushes it to covers.
  • 9.1 FOUR! Welcome to the bowling crease Kuldeep says Buttler. He tosses this up on middle, Buttler with the turn whips it through mid-wicket. It is in the gap and the ball reaches the fence.
  • Kuldeep Yadav to bowl some left-arm Shane Warne spin now.
  • 8.6 A single to end the over! A good one despite a boundary coming off it. Smart bowling from Chahal. He sees Buttler going for the reverse sweep and fires it outside leg. Buttler can only mistime it towards covers for a run. A good passage of play here for India after the wicket. 72/1
  • 8.5 Third dot in the over! This is flatter and on off, Buttler only manages to chop it.
  • 8.4 FOUR! Buttler takes all the pressure off! Brilliant by the opener. He brings out the reverse sweep and connects well. Clears the man at backward point for a boundary.
  • 8.3 Fires this on the pads, Hales is cramped for room as he strokes it through mid on for a run. Two dots and a run, something has to give here.
  • 8.2 Brilliant bowling! Tosses this up outside off, wide outside off I should say. Hales shuffles across and tries to go downtown but is beaten by the away turn.
  • 8.1 Flighted ball outside off, Hales tries to cut but gets a bottom edge to the man at slip.
  • 7.6 FOUR! A slower full toss in line of the stumps, Buttler swats it behind square leg and earns a boundary, which ruins a good over from Pandya. 66/1
  • 7.5 On the hips, tucked to deep backward square leg for a single.
  • 7.4 Short of a length outside off, Hales makes some room to play the cut but misses the ball.
  • 7.3 A slower ball yorker, jammed out by Hales.
  • 7.2 Some innovation from Buttler once again. A ramp shot off the slower ball outside off and changes strike as the fielder at third man cuts it out.
  • 7.1 Back of a length in line of the stumps, guided to third man for a single.
  • 6.6 NOT OUT! Buttler has made his ground quite easily! He slaps this short ball through covers and completes one. The fielder there fumbles and the Buttler calls for a second. His partner obliges. The fielder picks the ball up and fires it to the keeper who collects the ball and whips the bails off. Dhoni appeals but he does not seem to confident. The umpire takes it upstairs. Replays show that Buttler is well in. A couple to end the over, another good one for India, just 6 from it. 9 from the last 2. 59/1
  • An appeal for a run out has been taken upstairs. Jos is the man in question. He seems to be in though.
  • 6.5 A dot so just 4 runs of the 5 deliveries in this over! Loopy ball on off, Buttler mistimes it to covers.
  • 6.4 Slightly shorter and slower on off, Hales goes back and pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 6.3 Three singles in a row! Buttler eases this down to long off.
  • 6.2 Floats this one up on off, Hales hits it down to long off for another single.
  • 6.1 Quicker on off, Jos cuts it through covers and takes a run.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal is back on.
  • 5.6 Yes he can! Just three from the last over of the Powerplay. Pandya bowls it on middle, Hales works it to mid-wicket. England are 53 for 1 after the Powerplay. A good one for them. 53/1
  • 5.5 Two dots in a row! Hales makes room and chops it to point. This has been a brilliant 6th over so far. Can he end it well?
  • 5.4 A good short ball outside off, Hales is late on the pull and misses it.
  • 5.3 Another length ball, aimed at the body of the batsman. Hales tries to clip it but misses it to get hit near the box. He seems to be in some pain but is now fine to continue.
  • 5.2 Another ball on the pads, Jos works it around the corner and gets to the other end.
  • 5.1 Angles this one on the pads, Buttler flicks it through square leg. Some good running by the batsmen helps them take two.
  • Hardik Pandya comes into the attack.
  • Alex Hales is the new man in.
  • 4.6 OUT! Drags it on! Umesh Yadav draws first blood! How much did India need this? A lot at the moment. It was another short one. A length which Roy has not been comfortable with. He goes for the pull but the shot selection is wrong as the ball is not short enough to play it. The ball takes the bottom edge and goes onto hit the leg stump behind. Umesh Yadav is pumped up and so are the Indian players. Roy starts walking back to the pavilion but he has given a brilliant start to England. 50/1
  • 4.5 In the air... but Chahal does not go for the catch. Hence, it lands safe. A bumper and a pacy one. Buttler is slightly surprised by it as he goes for the pull. The bounce gets big on him and it takes the top edge. It goes high up in the air towards fine leg. Chahal there runs towards the ball but bails out at the very last moment. Collects it on the bounce and the batsmen take a run. 50 up for England and it has come up in quick time.
  • 4.4 Buttler makes room and Yadav does the right thing by following him. Jos can only chop it to covers.
  • 4.3 FOUR! You do not need to run for those! Talk about making full use of the Powerplay here. The English batsmen are doing exactly that. It was the slower one from Umesh on middle. Buttler picks it early and lofts it over mid on.
  • 4.2 Goes for another yorker but ends up serving a full toss. It is a low one so it is not easy to get it away. Roy flicks it to deep square leg for a run.
  • 4.1 A yorker on off, Roy jams it out.
  • Umesh Yadav is back on.
  • 3.6 FOUR! The first over by a spinner has cost 16! Excellent one for England. This is a half-tracker. It had hit-me written all over it. Buttler slaps it through covers and the ball races away. 44/0
  • 3.5 SIX! Clean as a whistle! First maximum has come from the bat of Buttler. Lovely use of the feet as he dances down the track, gets to the pitch of it and hits it over mid on. The ball carries all the way.
  • 3.4 Dances down the track and eases it through mid on for a run.
  • 3.3 FOUR! Roy is on the charge here! He gets into position early to play the reverse sweep. Chahal does a favor to him by bowling a full toss. Roy says thank you very much and hits it over backward point for another boundary. His fifth.
  • 3.2 Flat again, not giving any flight to the delivery. Bowls it on leg stump, Buttler works it through square leg for a run.
  • 3.1 Flatter on the stumps, Buttler watchfully pushes it back to the bowler.
  • Spin introduced early! Yuzvendra Chahal is into the attack.
  • 2.6 A dot to end! 8 runs from the over! Slightly shorter on middle, Roy again goes for the pull but does not connect. Third time in the over he has been beaten on that shot. Maybe a length he does not like? 28/0
  • 2.5 Good length on middle, Jason off the back foot punches it through mid-wicket. It is in the gap and the batsmen run another couple.
  • 2.4 FOUR! Full marks to the bowler but runs to the batsman! The knuckle ball from Kumar. Roy was way too early into the shot. The ball takes the outside edge and clears the man at short third man. Roy now has 22 out of the 26 scored.
  • 2.3 Nicely played! Roy picked his spot there. Dances down the track and gets a slower ball. He chips it over mid-wicket. There is a long on in place who runs to his right and keeps it down to two.
  • 2.2 Slower ball closer to the off pole. Roy once again tries to heave it over mid-wicket but does not connect. The ball stayed a touch low there.
  • 2.1 Back of a length outside off, Roy goes for the pull but does not connect.
  • 1.6 FOUR! What a shot to get off the mark! Wow! Just shows how confident this guy is! Moves right across and scoops the full ball over the keeper for a one bounce boundary. England off to a flier here. 20/0
  • 1.5 Fuller on off, Buttler strokes it to the man at mid off. That too was timed really well. Both look in immaculate touch.
  • 1.4 Angles this on the pads, Jos tries to flick the ball but misses to get hit on the pads.
  • 1.3 Once again it has been timed beautifully but finds the fielder in the deep. Full and on the pads, Roy flicks it to deep square leg for a run. Umesh is lucky he got away with that. it was a leg stump half-volley.
  • 1.2 FOUR! Roy is dealing in boundaries here! His third in the 8 balls he has faced. Slightly short outside off, Roy stands tall and once again plays that punch which he is so good at. The ball reaches to the cover boundary in no time. Looks a belter this wicket.
  • 1.1 Starts off with a bumper outside off, Roy may have been a touch surprised by it as he is late on the pull. He misses.
  • Umesh Yadav to bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6 Back of a length on off, Roy guides it towards point. The fielder there makes a half stop but can't stop a run. A single to end the over, an expensive first. 11/0
  • 0.5 FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! Excellent once again from Roy. He shuffles right across his stumps and flicks the ball over square leg. It bounces just before the ropes and then crosses it.
  • 0.4 FOUR! Pure timing! The slower ball outside off, Roy stands tall and punches it, right off the middle. The ball beats the diving cover-point fielder and it races away. First boundary of the game.
  • 0.3 Hops down the wicket but Kumar sees that. He shortens his length and Jason tucks it to mid-wicket.
  • 0.2 England are underway! This time Kumar gets the ball to come back into the batsman from outside off. Roy opens the face of the bat and guides it towards third man. Long boundaries here which means the batsmen run two quite easily.
  • 0.1 Right on the money by Kumar! He also gets some movement away from the batsman. He lands it on a length around off, Roy gets behind the line of the delivery and defends it solidly.
  • We are all set for the action to get underway. Bright sunshine welcomes the players out. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler are the openers for England. The former will be on strike and he will be facing Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He has a slip in place. Here we go...
  • England (Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Jos Buttler(w), Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan(c), Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett.
  • India (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Suresh Raina, Lokesh Rahul, MS Dhoni(w), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.
  • England skipper, Eoin Morgan, says he too wanted to bowl first and he reckons the wicket will not change. Mentions they are heading into the game in good form but expects India to give them a run for their money. Informs they are playing the same XI they played against Australia.
  • Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says it looks like a good wicket and he does not expect it to change a lot. Mentions the weather has been brilliant in both England as well as Ireland. Further adds that the players are eager to go. Informs they are in a positive mindset and hope to play fearless cricket against a good side.
  • Toss - Up goes the coin and it lands in the favor of India. They opt to bowl first.
  • Pitch Report - Sanjay Manjrekar along with Deep Dasgupta have a look at the pitch. They report that there is no grass on the pitch, it looks brown and a belter of a track. Adds that there's a lot heat as well and it almost feels like Sharjah or Dubai. Dasgupta ends by saying that the boundaries are long on either sides which should aid the spinner.
  • India on the other hand, are also entering the series on a string of strong performances and we can expect a cracking contest between the two. Will the English batsmen tackle the spin twins in the opposition? Will Bumrah be missed? Can the English spinners provide the same magic as they did against the Kangaroos? All the questions will be answered shortly.
  • The hosts head into the game as slight favorites as they play in familiar home conditions. Also, their confidence will be sky-high as they head into the contest after inflicting a whitewash on the Aussies.
  • The wait is over, we are moments away from the first T20I between England and India at Old Trafford, Manchester. Arguably the two best sides going around at the moment will lock horns. How excited are you? Well, I just can't wait for the first ball to get underway. Welcome to the coverage.

England Vs India Live Score (T20) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • So that is it from this game! India have won their first T20I against England in England due to which they have also taken a 1-0 lead in the series. England on the other hand, will somehow have to come up with a solution on how to play Kuldeep Yadav. There are still quite a few days for the next game which will be played on the 6th of July 0200 local (0100 GMT). Will we see the visitors once again blow the hosts away or will the home side fight back? Join us to find out. Till then, goodbye and take care.
  • Man of the Match, Kuldeep Yadav, says it is the perfect start to his first tour in England. Reckons the wicket suited him and he stuck to bowling line and length. Adds further he looked to land the googly in the perfect area and it went well for him. Mentions Kohli and Dhoni guided him well and he is happy to play under them. Ends by saying he will hope to continue his form.
  • India skipper, Virat Kohli, says they were very convincing in this game. He is happy about the youngsters stepping up. Praises Rahul and Kuldeep for the way they played. He reckons Kuldeep's over changed it for them. He feels England scored at least 30 or 40 less than what they should have.
  • England skipper, Eoin Morgan, starts by saying India played really well. Adds further the conditions were good and India fought back really hard. Acknowledges the knock of Rahul. Admits they failed to take all the chances that came towards them and they can't afford to do that when they are defending an average total. Ends by saying India outplayed them in this game.
  • The England bowlers had no answers to the onslaught. The pacers were taken to the cleaners and the spinners, from whom a lot was expected, also could not deliver. Rashid and Willey did bowl well but when you are defending a total which is below par you need everybody to chip in which was not the case for England in this game.
  • Chasing 160, India lost Dhawan early. Rahul then joined forces with Sharma and the two plundered the bowling. More Rahul than Rohit who was happy to play second fiddle. The duo added 123 in just 71 balls which turned the tide completely in India's favour. Rohit fell 8 shot of his half ton but Rahul continued. He along with Kohli ensured there were no further hiccups. The latter got to his ton while the skipper hit the winning runs in style.
  • A mockery is what India have made of this run chase and it is courtesy a brilliant ton by Rahul. He walks off to a standing ovation from the crowd. He along with Kuldeep, who took a fifer, has made this English side look really ordinary.
  • 18.2 SIX! India have done it, they have won by 8 wickets. A complete performance from them. Kohli had enough of it as the bottom hand comes into play. The ball easily goes up and over the long on boundary for a maximum.
  • 18.1 A flighted ball around middle, KL gets it through mid-wicket. Three more runs required now.

Adil tosses this one up outside off, Sharma sees this as an opportunity and plays the lofted cover drive straight to Morgan stationed there. A wicket too late in the context of the game as they don't really celebrate it. Rohit Sharma played the perfect foil for KL Rahul. Jordan there who is very close to the ropes tries to catch it but palms it over the fence. Rahul's luck continues and it has not been a good beginning for Ali. 10 from his first two balls.

  • 4.5 Almost drags it on! A lovely slower ball by Jordan on the shorter side. Rohit Sharma dances down the track but is foxed by the slowness on the delivery. He is way too early into the pull as the ball takes the bottom edge and goes agonizingly close past the off pole. He drops his bat and holds his elbow. England can't afford this, especially with the total they have on the board. 26/1

  • 1.4 Very well fielded by David Willey! A brilliant effort by him, especially after bowling the last over. Jordan over compensates by bowling it very straight. • We are back for the chase. The target is not a big one but India would like a good start from their openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. The latter is on strike and he will be facing David Willey who will be hoping for some movement. Will he get any? We will come to know as he runs up to bowl the first ball.
