Delhi Capitals Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Live Score (T20) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Shikhar Dhawan is given the Man of the Match award for his fluent knock. That's all from this game but don't go far away as the second match of the evening between Kolkata and Mumbai will begin shortly. See you there. Cheers!
  • Earlier in the evening, Delhi opted to bat and started strongly on the back of valuable partnership between Shivam Dubey and Shreyas Iyer. Just like Bangalore, they also lost the plot in the middle phase, but then Axar Patel and Sherfane Rutherford hammered a 46-run stand off just 19 balls to push the total past the 180-run mark. Their partnership in a way proved to be the differential factor. Amit Mishra, Axar Patel and Kagiso Rabada were right on the money with the ball and played a vital role in defending the total. Delhi's fielding was a bit sloppy initially but then they pulled up their socks and caught a few brilliant catches. All in all, a great win for them and they will be immensely pleased with the outcome.
  • Delhi are in the playoffs for the first time since 2012! Incredible win for them and they have pushed Bangalore on the brink of elimination. The touring team started their run chase in a brisk manner and were in a dominating position after the Powerplay. But Delhi bounced back after that to remove both the openers. AB de Villiers and Shivam Dubey got together for a partnership but once the former was dismissed, the home team pressed home the advantage. Gurkeerat and Stoinis tried their best but the required rate was too high and eventually they failed to overhaul the target. For those who are eager to know, Bangalore are not yet out of the tournament and still have a mathematical chance of making it through, of course depending on other results.
  • 19.6 In the air... safe! The fielder seemed to have not gone for the catch there. A full toss on the stumps, Stoinis hits it towards long on. Tewatia, the sub, runs in but then takes a few steps back. Collects it on the bounce. Just a single. DELHI WIN BY 16 RUNS!
  • 19.5 A dot now! Bends his back on this one and bowls it short. Stoinis looks to muscle it over the bowler's head but misses.
  • 19.4 SIX! That has been nailed! Short and on the body, Stoinis picks it, waits for it and then sends it sailing into the mid-wicket stands.
  • 19.3 Slightly shorter and on middle, Stoinis looks to pull but it goes off the inner half towards the keeper.
  • Umesh Yadav is the new batsman in.
  • 19.2 OUT! Sundar holes out! Rabada gets another. The slower one on the fuller side, WS looks to clear the long on fence. Gets more height than distance and Iyer there takes it.
  • 19.1 Short and on off, Stoinis pulls it all along the ground towards mid-wicket for a run.
  • 19.1 A false start! A slower one which comes out wrong and down the leg side. Stoinis looks to flick but misses.
  • 18.6 Another single! Which means 26 needed from the last over. Slower one outside off, Stoinis mistimes it towards cover for a single. Excellent comeback over by Ishant. Just the 4 runs and a wicket from it. 162/6
  • 18.5 Short and on the body, Sundar looks to pull but it hits the higher part of the bat and rolls towards mid-wicket for a single.
  • Washington Sundar is the new batsman in.
  • 18.4 OUT! That has stuck in the webbing. Delhi have taken some excellent catches today and this is probably the best of them. Ishant bowls this one full and outside off, Mann looks to go big but only manages an outside edge. The ball flies to the right of Pant who dives and sticks one hand out. The ball manages to stay in. The dangerous looking Mann is gone.
  • 18.3 Just a single! Delhi have no problems with singles. Full and wide outside off, MS looks to go over the off side but only manages a bottom edge towards Pant. He fumbles and a run is taken.
  • 18.2 Dot! Gold dust at this stage! This is outside off, Stoinis swings but misses.
  • 18.1 Slower one and outside off, Mann looks to swing but it goes off the inner half towards deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 17.6 Play and a miss! Only 6 runs off the over, a top one by Kagiso after 16 coming off the last over. A length ball outside off, Stoinis pushes at it and misses. 158/5
  • 17.5 Another terrific delivery. A near yorker around off, Marcus keeps it out through mid-wicket and scampers back for the second run.
  • 17.4 Back of a length ball on off, a sharp delivery, Mann tries to heave across the line but it hurries into him and he ends up playing it aerially towards long on. The fielder collects it on one bounce and the batsmen switch ends.
  • 17.3 A cracking delivery by Rabada. He spears it on middle and leg, Stoinis digs it out towards point for one.
  • 17.2 Slower bouncer on middle, Mann top edges his pull shot down to fine leg and completes a single.
  • 17.1 Starts with a length ball on off, Stoinis closes the face of his bat and works it behind square leg for a run.
  • Kagiso Rabada is back into the attack.
  • 16.6 36 in 18 now as the last ball is a dot! Still an excellent over for visitors. This could probably be the momentum changing one. Mann once again looks to go over the leg side but this one is way outside off. He misses. 152/5
  • 16.5 FOUR! Make that 16 with one ball to go. Bangalore are right back in this. A fortunate boundary but they won't care. This is outside off, Mann looks to hit it over the leg side but the ball hits the top edge and flies over short third man. 36 needed in 19.
  • 16.4 SIX! FLAT! That has hit the ropes on the full. Poor ball though, it is on a length. Mann clears his front leg and then whips it through mid-wicket. It goes all the way. Mann now getting into his own. 12 from the over so far with two balls to go.
  • 16.3 Very full on off, difficult for the batsman to get under it. This is stroked down to long off for a single.
  • 16.2 On the leg side, Mann looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The ball rolls towards the leg side. A leg bye is taken.
  • 16.1 FOUR! This is what Mann needs to do! Boundaries are the call of the hour and he finds one. Shuffles in and then flicks it through square leg. No one in the deep and a boundary results.
  • Strategic break! Bangalore were 82/2 during the last break and now they are reeling on 136/5. The chase has completely fallen flat on its face for the visiting team. All the top guns are back in the hut and Delhi certainly have the upper hand. The required rate has touched 13 now and Bangalore need something extraordinary from hereon to achieve the target and stay alive in the tournament.
  • 15.6 Mann is happy taking the singles. The googly and Mann goes back and works it through mid-wicket for a run. 10 from this over. 136/5
  • 15.5 The googly and on middle, Stoinis goes back and pulls it through square leg for another single.
  • 15.4 The googly and Mann does not pick it, he looks to cut but the ball turns in. At the very end, he guides it towards short third man for a run.
  • 15.3 This is flatter and on middle, Stoinis pushes it down to long on for a single.
  • 15.2 SIX! That is huge! As easy as you like. A little too full by Sandeep and he pays the price. Stoinis lofts it over the bowler's head and it goes a long way into the stands.
  • 15.1 The leg spinner on off, Stoinis pushes it back towards the bowler.
  • Sandeep Lamichhane is back into the attack.
  • 14.6 Flatter and on off, this is pushed down to long off for a run. 11 from the over but it is below the required rate. 126/5
  • 14.5 Now a couple! Runs starting to come now. Short and outside off, Stoinis goes back and cuts it through point for a couple.
  • 14.4 FOUR! Need a lot of these. A very good shot this. It is tossed up on off, Stoinis leans into it and strokes it over the bowler's head for a boundary.
  • 14.3 Another single as this is stroked through covers. Not sure why the two are not stepping on the accelerator. They need to get going.
  • 14.2 What was that? The googly outside off, this one turns back in sharply and also there is extra bounce. Mann looks to hit it through the off side but due to the inward spin, he is hit on the gloves.
  • 14.1 A better throw and it would have been close! Mann drives it square on the off side. They take one and go for the second. The fielder throws it a little wide to the keeper who looks to deflect it onto the stumps but misses.
  • 14.1 Down the leg side, Mann looks to flick but misses. It has been wided.
  • 13.6 Another single! Delhi won't mind as Mann pushes it down to long on. 73 needed in 36 balls. 115/5
  • 13.5 Eases it down to long on with the angle for a single.
  • 13.4 Strokes it with the turn through covers for a run.
  • 13.3 Floated on off, this is eased down to long off for a run.
  • 13.2 On the stumps, this is punched back to the bowler.
  • 13.1 Flatter and on off, this is pushed to covers.
  • Marcus Stoinis is the new batsman in. Also, Axar Patel is back into the attack.
  • 12.6 OUT! Two wickets in the over for Mishra and this time the southpaw is on his way back. Yet again it's a good catch in the field for Delhi. A googly around off, Dubey has not picked it and blindly swings his bat across the line in the hope to heave it over mid-wicket. But the ball spins away to catch the top edge and Dhawan moves swiftly across to his left from point to complete the catch by stretching his hands out. The thigh-five follows and Delhi are roaring! Outstanding over from Amit Mishra. 111/5
  • 12.5 Short again, punched to deep point for one.
  • 12.4 Big miscommunication, no harm done. Shortish and outside off, Gurkeerat cuts it towards backward point and the non-striker comes running forward in hope of a run. He is sent back immediately and no harm dome.
  • 12.3 Works it off his pads behind square leg and campers back for the second run.
  • Gurkeerat Singh Mann is the new batsman in.
  • 12.2 OUT! Klaasen departs as well! Delhi are all over Bangalore like a rash. And this is an excellent catch from Rishabh Pant. A lovely leg spinner from Mishra, it lands full around off and turns away a shade. Klaasen opts to play the cheeky paddle scoop but it takes the toe end of his bat and bounces off his helmet to the leg side. Pant is aware to the situation and immediately runs across to his left to catch the ball with a dive. They appeal and the finger has gone up. 80 more needed off 46 balls.
  • 12.1 Very full in length and outside off, Dubey drives it down to long on for a run.
  • Amit Mishra is back into the attack.
  • 11.6 A couple to end a successful over for Delhi. Short and down the leg side, this is helped on its way down towards fine leg for a single. 107/3
  • 11.5 Pulled through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 11.4 On the stumps, this is guided down to third man for a single.
  • Heinrich Klaasen is the new batsman in.
  • 11.3 OUT! Cleanly done by the fielder! That is a top, top catch by Axar to get rid of the man who probably Bangalore had pinned all their hopes on. Once again, this is a nothing delivery, it is short and on middle, however, the slowness in the wicket does the trick for Rutherford. De Villiers looks to pull it but does not get it off the middle. It is off the toe-end. For a moment it seemed as if it would go all the way but Axar at deep mid-wicket takes it, he then does extremely well to keep his balance and not touch the ropes. Delhi start celebrating. The umpires though take it upstairs and the replays show that Axar has done really well. This was supposedly a big gamble from Shreyas Iyer as Rutherford was poor in the last game but he has got the wicket Delhi wanted.
  • Has this been taken cleanly? Once again the umpires have gone upstairs to check. It seems clean. De Villiers is the man in question. Game changing moment this.
  • 11.2 Short and it is the slower one outside off, Dubey looks to upper cut it but it goes off the gloves towards short third man for a single.
  • 11.1 A little too straight, it is flicked down to deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • Sherfane Rutherford is into the attack.
  • 10.6 SIX! Dubey dealing in maximums here! Once again we see the last ball spoiling the over. Slightly short and on middle, Dubey goes back quickly and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. 87 needed in the last 9 overs. 101/2
  • 10.5 Keeps bowling the wrong 'un and de Villiers picks it off the pitch, in the end he works it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 10.4 The googly again, Dubey pushes it down to long on for another run.
  • 10.3 Outside off, de Villiers strokes it through covers for a run.
  • 10.2 The googly to the left-hander. He punches it down to long off for a single.
  • 10.1 The leg spinner on off, the batter goes back and punches it through covers for a run.
  • Sandeep Lamichhane is back into the attack.
  • 9.6 A dot to end another good over for Bangalore. This is short and outside off, Dubey guides it to point. 90/2
  • 9.5 SIX! JUST OVER! Excellent shot by Dubey! This is bowled way outside off, SD manages to go down on one knee and drag it over wide long on who leaps and tries to catch it but the ball goes just over him.
  • 9.4 The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball. One run added to the total.
  • 9.3 This is angled into the pads, de Villiers tries to whip it but it takes the inside edge, hits the pads and rolls towards short third man.
  • 9.2 Slower through the air on middle, de Villiers looks to hit it through coves. It goes off the inner half back to the bowler.
  • 9.1 Misfield and a single! Seen quite a few misfields from Delhi today. This is short and outside off, Dubey slaps it towards cover where the fielder gets down but fails to stop it cleanly. A run is taken.
  • Strategic break! Bangalore got a great start from their openers but after losing both Parthiv and Kohli, they are in a spot of bother. Delhi have done well to pull things back but cannot afford to relax with AB de Villiers in the middle. They would try to stop the flow of runs and keep chipping away at the wickets.
  • 8.6 SIX! Walloped! Mishra drops it short and on middle, de Villiers swivels on the back foot and rifles his pull shot deep into the stand at square leg for a biggie. 11 from the over along with a dropped catch. 82/2
  • 8.5 Flatter and shorter outside off, Shivam slaps it wide of backward point for a run.
  • 8.4 DROPPED! Tewatia (sub) has put down a skier. Flighted googly, landing full around leg, Dubey tries to heave but gets a big leading edge. It flies towards mid on, Tewatia sprints forward but fails to hold on to the catch. A couple of runs taken. Could be a big miss.
  • 8.3 A slow googly, landing outside leg, Dubey tries to slog sweep but fails to connect.
  • 8.2 ABD drives this through the covers. One run added to the total.
  • 8.1 Full and flighted on middle, it's flicked through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 7.6 Dubey this time takes a run as he works it through mid-wicket. Another excellent over for the hosts, the big wicket of Kohli and 4 runs from it. 71/2
  • 7.5 Plays it against the angle and through covers for a single.
  • 7.4 This is angled into the batsman, de Villiers goes back and looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads.
  • 7.3 On the stumps, this is stroked past the diving bowler for a single.
  • Shivam Dubey is the new batsman in.
  • 7.2 OUT! STRAIGHT TO THE MAN! Kohli can't believe it! He stands there in disbelief but then has to start walking back. This is a huge breakthrough for the hosts and the way they are celebrating it, shows what it means to them. A bonus wicket to be honest. A nothing delivery, short and angled into the batsman. Kohli could have hit it anywhere but he ends up pulling it straight to the man at deep mid-wicket. Rutherford there takes it with ease. Bangalore now in a spot of bother.
  • 7.1 Slows it up and bowls it on off, De Villiers strokes it through covers for a single.
  • Axar Patel is back into the attack.
  • 6.6 A single to end a very good over by Mishra! De Villiers once again makes room and this time Mishra fires it outside off, this is hit through covers for a run. 67/1
  • 6.5 Good fielding! AB makes room and Amit follows him. ABD strokes it towards covers where Iyer dives to his right and saves a single.
  • 6.4 That goes between AB's legs! This is flatter and down the leg side. De Villiers looks to flick but misses.
  • 6.3 Gives it a lot more air and lands it on off, this is eased down to long off for a run.
  • 6.2 Good amount of turn there! This is floated outside off, it pitches and spins away. De Villiers hits it through covers and takes a run.
  • 6.1 The slider on the stumps, de Villiers at the very end gets his bat down and keeps it out.
  • Amit Mishra is into the attack.
  • 5.6 De Villiers is off the mark! He works this down to fine leg and takes one. End of the Powerplay and Bangalore have made full use of it. They are 64 for 1 after it. 64/1
  • AB de Villiers is the new batsman in.
  • 5.5 OUT! TAKEN! Parthiv's excellent innings has come to an end courtesy a brilliant catch. He would feel hard done though as he has absolutely nailed it. Parthiv makes room and it is bowled shortish and on off, Patel slashes at it. It flies towards point where Axar takes a tumbling catch to his left. Rabada has a big smile on his face, surely wasn't expecting a wicket off this ball. A much-needed breakthrough for the hosts but one would feel, Patel has done his job. 125 more needed in 85.
  • 5.4 FOUR! Parthiv seems to be in some form here! This is creamed! Full and outside off, he loves it there. He leans into it and smashes it through covers for a boundary.
  • 5.3 OUCH! That must have hurt! Kohli makes room and Rabada follows him with a 153 kph bumper. Kohli looks to pull but misses to get hit on the chest. The ball rolls towards the off side for a single. Leg bye given.
  • 5.2 On the shorter side and on the body, Kohli looks to pull but misses. The ball hits some part of the body and lobs towards the off side. Parthiv comes down a long way in search of a run but is sent back.
  • 5.1 Back of a length on off, Kohli works this through mid-wicket and takes two.
  • 4.6 A single to end as Kohli works this through mid-wicket. Another productive over for the visitors. 56/0
  • 4.5 MISFIELD AND FOUR! Poor from Rabada, he succumbs under pressure there. Kohli works this towards him at mid on and sets off for a run. Rabada looks to get to the ball and pick it up quickly but takes his eyes off. The ball sneaks under his hands, Iyer from mid off gives it a chase but finishes second best.
  • 4.4 Once again it is angled into the batter, Kohli strokes it to mid on.
  • 4.3 SIX! Stand and deliver! Kohli gets into the act now. This is angled into the batsman, it is on a length. Kohli stands tall and lofts it with ease over the long on fence for a biggie. 50 up for Bangalore and they have scored it in very quick time.
  • 4.2 Angles in a good length ball on off, getting it to straighten from there, Kohli stays inside the crease and taps it down to covers.
  • 4.1 NOT OUT! That has bounced before it goes into the gloves! Kohli knew it and hence, he wasn't going anywhere. Length and around off, Kohli looks to play it late down to third man but the ball goes off the outside edge to the right of Pant. He seems to have taken it with a dive. Kohli though feels it is not clean. The umpires get together and take it upstairs. The soft signal is not out. Replays roll in and they show that the ball has not carried. Kohli and Pant are seen exchanging some animated words. All well though. Looked more like a friendly chatter.
  • Now then... big moment in the game! Has Pant taken the catch cleanly here? He surely feels but Kohli is holding his ground. The umpires have taken it upstairs and the SOFT SIGNAL IS NOT OUT!
  • Bowling change.
  • 3.6 Sharp delivery, short and on middle, Parthiv is hurried up and mistimes his pull back towards the bowler. 45/0
  • 3.5 Width on offer outside off, Kohli stands back and steers it through point for one.
  • 3.4 FOUR! Master at work! Rabada delivers it on a good length around off, Kohli stays grounded inside the crease and packs a punch down the ground for a boundary. Best batsman versus best bowler and this battle is worth watching.
  • 3.3 Some change in pace this time. It deceives the batsman as Patel is early into the swing of his bat. The ball deflects behind off his thigh pad, Pant fails to collect it cleanly and they pinch a leg bye.
  • 3.2 Short in length and angling across the batsman outside off, Parthiv is early into his shot and misses.
  • 3.1 FOUR! Parthiv is in red-hot form! Wow, this is an extraordinary shot. Rabada keeps his length full and outside off, Patel with minimum footwork reaches out for it and drills it through the gap between extra cover and mid off. Not a single muscle moved in the field.
  • Kagiso Rabada is into the attack.
  • 2.6 Does not go for another expansive shot and just eases it down to long on and takes one. The runs continue to flow! 15 from this one and Bangalore are off to an absolute flying start. 35/0
  • 2.5 FOUR! Sweet timing! Excellent this from Patel. He is removing all the pressure off Kohli. This is full and on the pads, Patel flicks it through mid-wicket. It is in the gap and the ball reaches the fence for the third boundary in the over.
  • 2.4 Waits for it and then guides it towards short third man for a single.
  • 2.3 Goes flatter and shorter around off, Parthiv goes back and powers it down to long on for a single.
  • 2.2 FOUR! Parthiv is toying with the field here! The deep mid-wicket was moved to deep square leg. Sandeep tosses this up on middle, Parthiv this time, whips it over mid-wicket for another boundary. Raining boundaries.
  • 2.1 FOUR! No fielder there and it is a boundary! On the pads, Parthiv goes down on one knee and sweeps it over the square leg fielder. Ideal start to this over as well.
  • Sandeep Lamichhane is into the attack.
  • 1.6 Another one outside off, Patel hits this one down to long on and takes a run. Another good over for the visitors. 20/0
  • 1.5 Smart bowling! Fires this one way outside off, Patel looks to go over the leg side but misses.
  • 1.4 Kohli does the right thing as he works this through mid-wicket and gives Patel the strike.
  • 1.3 This is fired in full and on middle, Patel whips it through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 1.2 SIX! Into the crowd! The left-hander will fancy his chances against the left-arm spinner. Patel walks in and then nails the slog sweep over the square leg fence. The little man is dealing in boundaries.
  • 1.1 Flatter and on off, Kohli strokes it down to long off and takes one.
  • Axar Patel to bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6 FOUR! This one is right off the middle. Two boundaries to end the first over and it is the perfect start for the visitors. Slightly fuller in length and on off, Patel smokes it over mid off and bags a boundary. His intentions are clear, he is going after the bowlers straightaway. 10/0
  • 0.5 FOUR! EDGY! First for them. That was a wild hoick by Patel. It was angling away from him. The ball flies off the outside edge and over the keeper for a boundary.
  • 0.4 Kohli is underway now! He guides this towards short third man and goes for a run. Sandeep there hits the bull's eye but Patel is well in.
  • 0.3 Bangalore are underway! Length again and on off, Patel strokes it down towards mid off for a quick run.
  • 0.2 An appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Ishant shortens his length just a little as he sees Parthiv come down the track. Patel looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The ball lobs towards Pant who takes it. The appeal was for LBW but the ball would have gone over.
  • 0.1 Painful start! A good shot by Patel to begin with! Length and around off, Patel strokes it right off the middle towards the bowler. Ishant stretches his right hand out and deflects it onto the left elbow of Kohli standing next to him. The skipper feels some pain but it's not too serious and the game continues...
  • We are back for the chase. The players and umpires are out in the middle. Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel will open the batting for Bangalore. Ishant Sharma will start the proceedings for Delhi.
