Right then! 16 to Chennai, 14 to Mumbai. Both are almost there in the playoffs. It was a poor evening for Chennai and they will look to bounce back from this one and seal their place in the final four. We now approach the weekend and on a rare occasion, there is just one game. Rajasthan host Hyderabad in Jaipur and match number 45 begins at 8 pm local (1430 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

Victorious Mumbai skipper ROHIT SHARMA HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Now, he smiles and says that in hindsight, it was better that Mumbai lost the toss, as he was looking to chase. But then, he stresses that games are not won based on tosses and you have to bowl or bat well irrespective of the situation. Praises his bowling unit for this resounding win. On Rahul Chahar, Sharma says that the leggie knows what he exactly needs to do and is very clear in his mind, being confident as well, which makes it easier for him as a captain. On his first half century this season, Rohit says that it is pleasing but adds that he had been hitting the ball well in the previous games and hence, he believed that one day, he will get a decent score. Admits that Dhoni's absence is a big boost to the opposition because he has been around for so many years taking Chennai out of a hole many a time. Smiles sheepishly and says that his sickness is uncontrollable and lauds his team. Does not want to take anything for granted and says that Mumbai are still not into the playoffs as yet. Adds that they have three games coming up - two at home against Kolkata and Hyderabad and one at Eden Gardens against Kolkata again. Wants to make use of those home games and seal their place in the final four.

Krunal Pandya gives a quick interview. Says that the pitch was on the slower side and he just wanted to bowl in the right areas. States that when the pitch is helping you, as a bowler you just need to hit the right areas. On being asked whether he wanted to bowl his fourth over, Krunal tells that he wanted to but eventually what matters is team winning and we got that. On his batting, Pandya replies that they have wickets in hand and he thought to go after the bowlers to pressurize them but some days it pays off, some days it don't. Smiles and says that he would love to pack this wicket and take it to the Wankhede. Mentions that they now know the conditions and it will help them if they have to come here for the first qualifier.

Chennai skipper, Suresh Raina admits that they didn't bat well as they kept losing wickets and they have to take responsibility as a batting unit, given how well their bowlers have been performing. Says that 155 was chasable, rues the fact that they lost too many wickets in the Powerplay and didn't rotate the strike much. Is not happy with the batting as they have been losing a lot of wickets of late. Hopes to improve in future games. Mentions that they need to regroup and see what they can do. Wants his batsmen to be more relaxed in their approach and hopes that things will fall in place.

Sensational bowling performance from Mumbai. Malinga was expensive but picked up 4 wickets. Krunal and Bumrah - what a deadly combination - 6-0-17-4. Really broke the back of the home side. Their biggest defeat at home, their lowest home total as well. A night to forget...

5 batsmen from numbers 2 to 6 dismissed in single digits. Tells you what a poor batting performance it has been. At 66/6, it was virtually game over, with Vijay being the 6th casualty. Bravo and Santner tried to fight back a bit but that only delayed the inevitable. Eventually, the game was done and dusted in the 18th over.

Let us take all our focus to the toss. Should Raina have batted first? But then, even Rohit said that he wanted to chase. Perhaps because of the expected dew factor. But that never came. Mumbai huffed and puffed to 155 but Chennai could not even huff. They were choked right from the start and could never breathe.

No Dhoni, no Midas magic. That is what it seems looking at this Chennai side. Two matches without him, two big losses. This could be a massive dent in their confidence.

17.4

OUT! Game, set and match. Four-fer for Malinga and Chennai have been floored at home. A low full toss, Santner backs away and swings hard but cannot quite get underneath the ball. He ends up mistiming it to long on where Kieron Pollard completes the formalities. MUMBAI WIN BY 46 RUNS!

STRATEGIC BREAK. 4 overs left. 3 wickets in hand. 57 runs needed. Chennai are on course for a massive defeat. They might do well to try and play out all the remaining balls and get to 125-130. Who knows, it might help them later on in the net run rate. Deepak Chahar is the new man in while Jasprit Bumrah is the changed bowler.

15.6

OUT! Caught and bowled! Bravo departs and with that, possibly the last hope of the table-toppers. It has been a barricade of slower balls in this over from Malinga. Mitchell Santner is the new man in at number 8, replacing Vijay.

11.4

OUT! The ball has carried. Catching practice. Wow. Wickets are falling like ninepins. Fractionally short in length outside off, Vijay cuts that away and cannot keep it down. The ball dips on its way to Suryakumar Yadav at point but he dives to his right and takes a splendid catch. He immediately celebrates but Vijay is not sure. Bravo, his partner, immediately shakes his head. The umpires confer and then give the soft signal as out. Replays take a long while and eventually, everyone feels that the ball has carried. Vijay has to depart and Chennai sink further...

Is that a catch? Bravo at the non-striker's end does not think that has carried. Suryakumar Yadav is already celebrating. The umpires get together and the soft signal is..... OUT. Let's find out...

11.3

A back of a length delivery on off, Bravo guides it towards the third man region for a single.

11.2

Bumrah bowls this short of a length. Bravo defends it from his back foot.

Bumrah is back.

10.6

Short and outside off, Vijay goes back to punch but gets a bottom edge past the bowler to long off. A single taken. 64/5

10.5

SAFE. Flighted outside off, Vijay looks to defend but the ball spins away and beats him in flight. De Kock quickly collects and whips the bails off and appeals. Replays show that even before Vijay's foot was out of the crease, de Kock had whipped the bails off. A bit too quick.

Stumping appeal again! Vijay is the man in question. He slipped but seems to be okay...

9.1

WIDE! Anukul starts with a wide outside the leg stump.

SAFE! Vijay turns it off his pads through square leg and scampers back for the second run. The throw from the deep comes in and Rohit immediately catches and deflects it towards the stumps. But no harm done. Plenty of action on the last two balls. Both batsmen have survived. 53/4

Run out? Mumbai look confident again but to the naked eye, it seems like Vijay is home.

8.5

Run out chance missed! Short in length outside off, Shorey cuts it to point and his partner is eager for a run. Dhruv is ball-watching initially and then realizes that Vijay is mid-way down the track. The point fielder returns a poor throw and Chahar then tries to flick it onto the stumps. Misses completely and Shorey survives. Poor cricket all around.

8.4

A short and outside off, Shorey misses his cut.

8.3

Full on leg, Vijay just nudges it to towards the mid-wicket region and calls for a two but denied by Shorey hence only a single.

OUT! Senior Pandya strikes again! Wicket number 4 goes down for Chennai and they are staring down the barrel. Another arm ball from his quiver has handed him success. It's served around off at 98.5 kph and the ball skids off the surface. Jadhav goes deep inside the crease to play the square cut but it's too close to his body. The ball brushes his front pad first before taking the bottom edge and going onto the stumps. Jadhav's poor season continues...

FOUR! But what an effort in the deep by Krunal Pandya! Full marks to him. Bumrah delivers it on the shorter side around off, Vijay rises on his back foot to help it across the line but it takes the top edge and flies behind square leg. Krunal comes steaming in from the deep to attempt for the catch, dives forward but it falls just short of him. It then hits his hands and rolls behind to meet the fence as Krunal once again tries his best to pull it back with a dive. Top effort but the luck is with Murali Vijay. 40/3 in the Powerplay. 40/3

OUT! Right through the gate! Krunal Pandya roars in delight and it seems that someone has pressed the mute button inside the stadium. A well-disguised arm ball at 99.1 kph, landing on middle and skidding off the surface after kissing the turf. Rayudu strides forward to play it with a straight bat but it skids through, beats his bat and hits the top of the stumps. Chennai in deep trouble.

3.5

Pandya angles this one in for Vijay. Murali Vijay defends it.

3.4

SIX! All timing, no power. Fullish and outside off, Vijay strides forward and lofts it nonchalantly over the bowler's head for a biggie. A well-timed maximum sometimes looks better than the muscled one.

3.3

FOUR! Vijay is timing his shots superbly! Pandya serves one on the pads and Murali flicks it beautifully behind square leg for a boundary. Glorious.

3.2

A back of a length angling in, Vijay just keeps it away. He calls for a run but Rayudu denies it.

OUT! Raina departs and it's a massive setback for Chennai! Poor shot selection from the stand-in skipper. Pandya angles across a good length delivery outside off, Raina steps out for a big shot but fails to control his shot. It flies off the top edge and Suryakumar Yadav gets underneath it at backward point to complete the catch. The crowd has gone quiet. Mumbai have begun brilliantly.

2.6

Dropped by Anukul Roy! The debutant has put down a sitter. A fuller length ball around off, Vijay tries chipping it over the off side but mistimes it in the air towards point. Roy runs back from that region a little too early and then tries to settle underneath it to take the catch but makes a complete mess. Two taken. 22/1

2.5

A slower one this time. Malinga bowls this at 115 kmph. Vijay waits for it and then just defends it.

2.4

In better control on this occasion, Murali. Short in length and outside off, Vijay chips it over covers for a couple of runs.

2.2

FOUR! Short in length and outside off, Vijay remains on the back foot with his bat hanging out. It finds the middle of the bat and flies over point for a boundary.

A slower one deceiving the batsman a bit. On a length around off, angling away, Raina pushes at it and it goes off the outer half through backward point for a single.

1.6

LBW appeal! Turned down! Full and outside off, Vijay looks to come forward and sweep but misses and is hit on the pads. Krunal roars in an appeal but the umpire turns it down. Impact was outside off. 11/1

SAFE. Beautiful ball first up. Flighted, around off and middle, Vijay came forward to defend but was beaten in flight. The ball landed and then spun past the outside edge and just went over the stumps! De Kock then collected brilliantly and whipped the bails off, appealing as well. It was referred upstairs but replays show that albeit Vijay's foot was in the air, it came back down quickly.

IS THAT A STUMPING? De Kock seems very confident. Mumbai celebrate. Referred upstairs...

0.6

Raina gets on the front foot in defense. Eventful first over, 9 runs and a wicket off it. 9/1

Suresh Raina walks in.

0.5

OUT! Watson is gone! A nothing delivery. Malinga has bowled many great deliveries to remove the batsmen and this has to be one of the very few poor ones of which he has hunted down a victim. Too full in length and angling down the leg side, Watson picks it off his pads to play the flick shot, middles it nicely also but ends up handing a straightforward catch to Rahul Chahar at short fine leg.

0.4

The batsman defends it from within the crease.

0.3

FOUR! This is a help-yourself delivery. On a good length and drifting down the leg side, Watson deflects it neatly off his pads and beats short fine leg.

0.2

FOUR! Good attempt Lewis but it goes in vain. Malinga smiles as he returns to his mark. Back of a length delivery on off, Watson goes on the back foot and punches it through cover-point. Evin gives the chase, puts in a dive, tries to pull it back but ends up going beyond the rope with the ball. Watson has started brightly.

0.1

Malinga angles in a good length ball on off, straightening a bit from there, Vijay plays inside the line and close to his body as it goes off the outside half to third man for a run. Chennai are underway.

Time for the run chase! The men concerned are out in the middle. Shane Watson and Murali Vijay are the openers for Chennai. Lasith Malinga to begin proceedings. A slip in place. Here we go...
