  • Windies' bowling was not up to the mark. They did bowl well in patches but never created enough pressure. Kemar Roach was the pick of the bowlers as he tested the batsmen with his pace and accuracy. Their spinners, although picked late wickets, were a major disappointment on a helpful deck. Now, they have a big first innings total in front of them and will have to bat out of their skin against the army of Bangladesh spinners. Stay tuned, their reply will commence soon.
  • Exceptional batting performance by the home team. They won the toss on Day 1 and adopted a slow approach initially. Runs were hard to come by but they stuck around and concentrated on forming partnerships. Debutant Shadman Islam was the star yesterday as he impressed everyone with his composure and shot selection. The hosts switched gears this morning and then started to score briskly. Shakib started it all and Liton Das took it forward. Amidst all this, Mahmudullah held one end and anchored the innings with a hard-fought century. He was involved in quite a few handy stands and the best one was his 111-run association with the skipper. The efforts of the lower order cannot be undermined either as they helped in taking the total past the 500-run mark.
  • 153.6 OUT! End of the misery for Windies! A nicely tossed up ball on middle, Mahmudullah tries playing it straight but it spins past the outside edge of his bat and disturbs the off pole. End of a fine knock by Mahmudullah and BANGLADESH ARE ALL OUT FOR 508!
  • 153.5 Flatter and on off, stroked from the crease to mid off.
  • 153.4 Mahmudullah has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 153.3 Dropped by Shai! Sigh. Mahmudullah stays back to play late at a short delivery outside off. His attempt is to run it down to third man but ends up playing it straight into the hands of first slip. Hope fails to hold on to the catch.
  • 153.2 Mahmudullah has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 153.1 Driven towards the mid on region. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 152.6 FOUR! Streaky! Tossed up ball on middle, Mahmudullah inside edges his heave over mid-wicket and it races through short fine leg. The fielder gives it a chase, it's a teaser but the ball eventually wins. 507/9
  • 152.5 Another punch shot, this time from the number 11, the ball travels to long on and they cross.
  • 152.4 Bowls it short on off, Mahmudullah strokes it through mid off for a single.
  • 152.3 Flatter and fuller on off, driven down to long on for a run.
  • 152.2 Full around off, defended.
  • 152.1 Mahmudullah is lining up the bowler here. Seeing that Brathwaite bowls it wide outside off and the batsman spears his drive through covers for a single. 500 up for Bangladesh!

  • 151.5 Goes back to a short ball and punches it to long off for one.
  • 151.4 Full and flighted on off, Mahmudullah plays a cracking drive by striding forward but it goes straight to short cover. Was that dropped? Not sure. A single has been taken.

  • 151.2 Tossed up ball outside off, Mahmudullah drives it down to long off for a run.

  • 150.2 FOUR! And again! Mahmudullah has switched gears. Brathwaite tries to stay away from the hitting area and hence bowls it short and wide outside off. Mahmudullah shuffles across to reach the delivery and smacks it through cover-point. 9 short of 500 now!
  • 150.1 FOUR! Boom! An arm ball landing wide outside off, plenty of width on offer, Mahmudullah drills his drive through covers for a cracking boundary.

  • 148.4 Sees the length to be on the shorter side and immediately goes back to punch it in the direction of the sweeper cover fielder. A single is taken.

  • 144.5 Shortish and on off, punched from the crease to covers.
  • Naeem Hasan is the last batsman for Bangladesh.
  • 144.4 OUT! Gone this time! Brathwaite gets his second wicket. A harmless delivery, a touch flatter and served outside off, Taijul spots the opportunity to play a cracking drive through covers but ends up edging it behind. Dowrich makes no mistake this time, they appeal and the finger has gone up. After that, the umpire checks for the no ball but Kraigg is fine with his landing. End of an excellent partnership and Taijul truly entertained with his stroke play.

  • 143.1 Flighted and full around off, Taijul is on the front foot as he defends it back.
  • Welcome back. The players are on the field. Bangladesh to continue with their domination. Must be eyeing 500 now. Jomel Warrican to start proceedings.
  • ... Day 2, Session 3 ...
  • For the Windies, the only solace for them is that they are just two wickets away from bowling out Bangladesh. Nothing seems to be working for them. Pace bowling has not been a problem but on a spin-friendly track, their spinners are not doing enough. Join us in a bit for the last session of the day.
  • Another session of the pie eaten by the hosts. But their stomachs are not full. They are hungry for more. Just when you think Windies are pulling things back, two of the Bangladeshi players stitch a 50-run stand. Mahmudullah took his time post Lunch but got to his 3rd Test ton eventually. Taijul Islam showing the crowd that he can bat as well. The duo have added 55 runs together and don't look like getting out.
  • 142.6 Slower ball on middle, Mahmudullah bunts it down safely to end the session. Tea on Day 2. 471/8
  • 142.5 Outside off, cut through backward point for a brace.
  • 142.4 Low full toss without any pace, driven to mid on.

  • 142.2 Wide down the leg side, no trouble at all for the well-set Mahmudullah.
  • 142.1 Stays low on middle and off, Mahmudullah keeps it out.

  • Joeml Warrican to roll his arm now.
  • 140.6 On off, Islam taps it in front of himself. 468/8
  • 140.6 WIDE! Lewis wanted to give him some chin music but just goes too hard. Over the head height and Aleem Dar deems it as a wide.
  • 140.5 FOUR! Beauty! Not really overpitched on middle and leg, Taijul makes room and on the up goes straight past the bowler. The mid on fielder chases it but comes second best. The 50 partnership is up too. Great batting.
  • 140.4 Again short on middle and leg, pulled to deep square leg for just one.
  • 140.3 FOUR! Bangs it short this time as he angles this down leg. Mahmudullah just controls his pull fine towards fine leg and earns a boundary to his name. Change of gears for him now?

It took him over 5 hours to reach this milestone. 457/8

  • 139.2 Oohhhh... that nearly went onto the stumps! Mahmudullah is lucky that this delivery wasn't in the line of the stumps. A flatter and shorter delivery outside off, Mahmudullah tries to cut but it stays low and beats his bat. Almost kissed the inside edge there.
  • 139.1 Tossed up ball on middle, played down with soft hands to mid-wicket for a run.
  • 138.6 TROUBLE! TROUBLE! But no harm done. Closer to the stumps, Mahmudullah plays it late and tries to send it past gully. But the fielder there dives across to his left to stop the ball. That triggers some confusion. Mahmudullah initially looks for a run but then stutters. Taijul, in the meantime, sets off and is mid-way down the track. Mahmudullah is the culprit of ball-watching. By now, Hope has recovered from his dive and throws it to the keeper's end where Mahmudullah is safe. Lewis then collects it and has a shy at the non-striker's end. Had he hit, Islam was a goner. Nervous 90s, I tell you. 450/8

  • 134.2 Digs out another short ball. Mahmudullah is not interested as he ducks under it.
  • 134.1 Full and on off, driven for the mid off fielder to collect and give it back.
  • 133.6 Tossed up again, on off, defended off the front foot. 434/8
  • 133.5 NOT OUT! No inside edge and then they checked for the lbw as well. Going wide of the stumps. Windies have now lost all their reviews. Chase bowls it from wide of the crease and dishes out a slider. It lands around off and skids back in off the surface. Beats Taijul in his forward defensive prod and pops out of his pads to first slip. The fielder takes the catch, they appeal but the umpire disagrees. Kraigg Brathwaite takes the DRS after consulting his players but the replays detect nothing. Daylight between bat and ball. As is the norm, the third umpire checks for the lbw as well. • 123.5 OUT! There is some spike! Windies get lucky with this wicket. There wasn't much excitement shown in the appeal and after knowing the third umpire's verdict, Jomel Warrican has a relieved smile on his face. A nicely tossed up delivery outside off, enticing the batsman to go for a drive. Mehidy commits himself into the shot but is beaten as the ball spins away past his bat. Dowrich collects the ball and lets out a muted appeal initially. Then, they go for the DRS more as an afterthought. The replays roll in and they show that it has taken a faint outside edge. For a moment, we thought it was due to the bottom of the bat brushing the surface but the other angle confirmed that the spike was generated due to the outside edge. A terrific review in the end. First success for Warrican, Windies claim the eighth wicket but it's Bangladesh in the driver's seat.

Liton premeditates a reverse sweep but the line of the delivery proved to be his undoing. He fails to make any connection and it goes under his bat to meet the leg stump. • Windies started well initially but once Mahmudullah and Shakib started to counterattack, they went flat. Do join us in a short while for the afternoon session.

Mohammad Mithun and Shadman joined forces to raise a 64-run stand post Lunch and the debutant went on to notch up a fine half century, thereby impressing everyone with his temperament.
  • End of an absorbing day of Test cricket! We witnessed three well-fought sessions. Whenever Bangladesh looked like running away with the show, Windies bounced back by picking wickets. Rahim tries his best to play with a straight bat but his front foot goes nowhere near to the pitch of the ball. As a result, it whizzes past the inside half of his bat and disturbs the timber. • 63.2 Fullish and on middle, Shakib pushes it down the ground and the mid on fielder makes a fine tumbling stop. They take a run.
  • 63.1 Begins from 'round the wicket and slips a full length ball down the leg side. Shakib fails to flick and it's an easy take for Dowrich. Just a little glance from umpire Aleem Dar on the bowler's landing area. Whenever Lewis has bowled from this angle, he has flirted with danger.
  • We're back for the last session. The men concerned are also back on the field. Windies have the momentum heading into this session and would be looking to create further inroads. For Bangladesh, their two most experienced batsmen are in the middle to deal with it. Promises to be an exciting battle. Shermon Lewis to kick off proceedings.
  • ... DAY 1, SESSION 3 ...
  • A session which will fall in the category of shared one due to the two late wickets. Bangladesh batted without any issues in the first hour post Lunch where the pair of Mithun and Shadman raised a fifty partnership. Devendra Bishoo struck twice after that to remove both the batsmen and provided Windies with a reason to smile. The Bangladeshi debutant was unlucky to miss out on a century but did enough to prove his mettle. The tourists are doing well to be patient as they are not giving away easy runs. Also, their overrate has to be praised. 27 overs more left in the day's play. Do join us in a short while for all the action.

  • 61.5 Yes, it has indeed bounced! Shakib survives. The crowd cheers, more in relief. The Bangla skipper smiles. A length delivery angling into the batsman from outside off, it holds up a bit onto Shakib as he gets forward to push at it. The ball takes the higher half of the bat and lobs back. Roach puts in a dive and grabs it low. He gets up and celebrates but Shakib holds his ground. The umpires have a chat and then refer it upstairs. The replays roll in and they show that it bounced just in front of Roach's hands.
  • Kemar Roach has grabbed a good low catch in his followthrough and is claiming it. The batsman is not going anywhere and the umpires get together. They have a chat and then go upstairs. Has that bounced?

  • Mushfiqur Rahim, playing as a proper batsman, is in next. The two most experienced Bangladeshi batsmen in the middle now.
  • 58.5 OUT! Oh dear, Shadman is out of here! Bishoo strikes again and this was a good delivery by him. He tosses it up in the air and lands it full around off. It spins back in sharply after kissing the deck and Shadman, unfortunately, plays down the wrong line as he presses forward in defense. The ball meets the pads, they appeal and the finger goes up almost immediately. The debutant knows he is gone for all money and doesn't even bother to think of a referral. So much maturity. Well done, young man. A fine knock as well, calm and composed. A century would have been an icing on the cake. Still got a record for facing the most number of balls by a Bangladeshi debutant while opening in the first innings (199).
  • 58.4 Beaten! Bishoo serves this one very full and outside off. Islam fails to dig it out.

  • Shakib Al Hasan is the new batsman.
  • 56.1 OUT! Bowled 'em! That's three in a row for Bishoo against Mithun. To be honest, it wasn't a wicket-taking delivery. The leggie drops it short and in the line of the stumps. It skids through after landing as Mithun goes back to pull it across the line. Maybe, he misread the length and was also early into the shot. Fails to make any connection and the stumps are shattered. Finally, a success for Windies in this session as they break the 64-run stand. Can they pick more before Tea?
  • 55.6 FOUR! Delightful shot! Shadman takes a step down the track to a full ball and crisply drives it through extra cover for a handsome boundary. 151/2

  • 52.2 Flighted and outside off, driven off the front foot to covers.
  • 52.1 Tossed up ball on off, defended back.
  • 51.6 APPEAL FOR A CATCH! Not given! Tossed up again on middle, Mithun looks to defend but gets hit on the pads and the ball lobs to short leg. The bowler appeals but the umpire shakes his head. Replays show there was no inside edge however it was a close matter. It wasn't conclusive in the Ultra Edge that whether the spike was off the ball hitting the inside edge or the bat brushing the front pad. Anyway, the third umpire wasn't troubled by the Windies. 140/2
  • 51.5 Floated on off, Shadman drives it through covers for a single.
  • 51.4 50 partnership between Mithun and Shadman Islam. Tossed up on leg, Mithun nudges it fine on the leg side for three runs. Finally, after a couple of stands in the 40s, they break the deadlock. A good association this for Bangladesh.

  • Drinks! A good hour of play post Lunch for Bangladesh where the pair of Mithun and Shadab batted without any trouble. The debutant notched up his fifty and continues to impress everyone with his composure and stroke play. The partnership is approaching fifty and this has proved to be the vulnerable period for Bangladesh today (two stands in the 40s). Windies are getting assistance off the surface but are not accurate enough to pose any threat. They need to keep picking wickets in order to stay on level terms.
  • 49.6 Bowls short on middle, Mithun pulls it to backward of square leg. The fielder does well to save two runs for the team. The batsmen pick up a couple. 132/2

  • ... Day 1, Session 2 ...
  • Windies didn't bowl badly but they weren't too threatening, particularly the pacers. Also, compared to the regular spinners, Warrican and Bishoo, Chase looked more penetrative. They would like to get better with their lines and lengths post Lunch and create further inroads. The visitors already have been lucky twice that two promising partnerships got broken just in time. They just can't afford to let the batsmen settle in on this surface. Having said that, the Bangladeshi debutant, Shadman Islam, has looked quite compact in his first outing and will like to make it count. Do join us in a short while for the second session.
  • Excellent end to the session for the touring team. Although it was owned by the hosts until the last ball. They won a good toss and their openers laid a strong platform. But just before the Drinks break, they lost Soumya Sarkar. The pitch was offering plenty of spin and bounce right from the beginning, and Roston Chase was the one to provide the initial breakthrough. Yet another partnership developed after that which also ended before the break. Losing Mominul Haque is a body blow to Bangladesh but they bat deep and given the way this surface is playing, the home team would not be too disheartened.
  • 33.5 OUT! A soft dismissal really. Windies are delighted. Roach is roaring. They certainly know the value of this wicket. Mominul is absolutely gutted with himself. A cross-seam delivery, it's bowled on the shorter side outside off and Mominul tries to play the horizontal bat shot but is not entirely on top of the ball. He ends up miscuing it completely in the air towards mid on where Roston Chase makes no mistake. Beaten for pace, probably. Lunch will smell and taste better for the visitors now. They are all heading off the park for a 40-minute break.

  • 0.1 Roach starts with a delivery around the batsman's hips, Islam turns it over on the leg side but straight to the strategically placed backward square leg fielder.

  • Pitch report - The outfield looks good and quick. The surface looks good as well. It's hard with a nice covering of grass. Seems like good batting conditions. Lots of runs to be scored. Win the toss and bat first, that's the way to go. No-brainer really.
  • Toss - Shakib Al Hasan wins the all-important toss and no prizes for guessing, BANGLADESH WILL BAT. A big relief for the home team as Mushfiqur Rahim is passed fit to play, however, he will not keep. In comes Liton Das to don the gloves and to accommodate him, Mustafizur Rahman is sacrificed. The other change being Shadman Islam, who will make his debut in place of inured Imrul Kayes. For Windies, there is one obvious change - Shannon Gabriel is out as he will be serving his one-match suspension from the ICC. He is replaced by Shermon Lewis, who is just one Test match old.
  • Warm welcome ladies and gentlemen for the second Test match between Bangladesh and Windies at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. The hosts registered a comprehensive win in the last match and would be eyeing to take revenge for their last series loss in West Indies with a 2-0 scoreline. Their spinners once again will be the hot property and it's needless to say, how the Windies batsmen deal with them will decide the fate of this game. A few injuries and suspension will result in some change in combinations in both the sides and it will be interesting to find out which team gets affected the most. Stay tuned for more updates...

Bangladesh Vs West Indies Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Bangladesh have enforced the follow-on! History has been made. This is the first time ever they have done so. A thoroughly dominant show by their spinners. Mehidy Hasan roared with a 7-wicket haul while Shakib Al Hasan claimed a 3-fer. Apart from a fifty partnership between Dowrich and Hetmyer, there was no fight shown by Windies. Badly exposed. No technique. No skill. No temperament. No application. They lacked the main ingredients to succeed in Test cricket. No doubt it was challenging, it was supposed to be that way on this surface, but the tourists showed no stomach for a fight. They will get one more chance now, let's see how they fare against the spin trial this time around. Stay tuned.
  • 36.4 OUT! Lewis is plumb in front! All over for Windies, shot out for 111! Shakib cleverly slips in an arm ball around off. Lewis has no idea about the variation. He gets forward in defense, looking out for the away spin but it skids through and hits him on the pads. They appeal and the finger goes up immediately. Sherman takes the DRS, just for the formality. The Ball Tracker shows three reds. Done and dusted inside 37 overs.
  • Sherman Lewis is given out lbw this time. He has now referred it. Looks dead in front...
  • 36.3 Safe! Height is indeed a factor. Shakib delivers it with a round-arm action and lets it land around middle and leg. It spins away a bit after hitting the surface and Sherman is squared up in defense. It raps him high on the back leg, they appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Bangladesh take the referral and the replays show that it's going over the stumps.
  • Shout for an lbw! Not given and Shakib takes the referral. Height factor?
  • 36.2 Slower through the air, lands it full and outside off, Sherman pushes it towards point off the front foot.
  • 36.1 Flatter and on off, Warrican goes back and punches it through wide mid on for a run.
  • 35.6 Around off, well blocked by Lewis. 110/9
  • 35.5 Best forward defense by a no. 11. Gets behind the ball and taps it to the off side.
  • Sherman Lewis is the number 11 batsman.
  • 35.4 OUT! Dowrich goes and that's the last hope for Windies. Arm ball on off, it comes back into Dowrich who looks to work it away. Gets beaten as he played for the spin and the ball goes on to hit his back leg. Bangladesh put in an appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Dowrich without any doubt takes the review. Replays show us that it would be clipping the leg pole. So the on-field call stays. Windies retain their review but they would have wanted Dowrich more. A gritty innings from the keeper batsman comes to an end. 7 for Mehidy Hasan now!
  • Review! Have Bangladesh got their man? Dowrich has been given out LBW! Looks out too. Let's have a look.
  • 35.3 The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket. One run added to the total.
  • 35.2 Fuller ball outside off, Dowrich has driven it crisply through mid off. Naeem chases it, throws himself near the boundary line and saves a run for his side. They've managed to run three.
  • 35.1 On middle, Shane taps it in front of him.
  • 34.6 Around off, Jomel survives as he defends this off his back foot. 106/8

  • 33.6 Outside off, Warrican punches it to mid off. 105/8
  • 33.5 Fuller this time on middle, driven towards mid on to change strike.
  • 33.4 FOUR! Short again on middle and leg, Dowrich goes deep inside and pulls it through square leg for a boundary. He has certainly looked solid out there.
  • 33.3 On middle and leg, tapped towards the bowler.
  • 33.2 Outside off, a lovely late delicate cut from Jomel towards deep backward point for three more runs.
  • 33.1 Errs it down leg, Warrican tries to flick it away but gets it off his thigh pad fine to fine leg. They take two leg byes.
  • 32.6 Misses his length as he dishes out a short ball down leg, Dowrich pulls it over mid-wicket for a brace. 95/8
  • 32.5 Around off, Shane guides it towards cover-point.
  • 32.4 This one bounces. Around off, curls away with extra bounce. Shane leaves it alone.

  • 31.4 Tossed up ball on middle, Shane is on the front foot and defends it.
  • Jomel Warrican is the new man in.
  • 31.3 OUT! Roach holes out! Can't blame him. You don't expect a lot from a lower order batsman when your main batsmen have not shown any application and temperament. Mehidy bowls a loopy one on middle, Kemar tries to slog it across the line but gets a top edge. Liton Das settles underneath it at long on and takes the skier safely. Hasan gets his sixth, can he take 8 just like Yasir did a few days ago?
  • 31.2 Skidding down, Dowrich turns it off his pads through square leg for one.
  • 31.1 Flatter and a touch shorter on off, defended off the back foot.
  • 30.6 Flighted on middle, swept behind square leg for a run. 91/7
  • 30.5 Appeal for a catch! Not given. Turn and bounce for Shakib, Dowrich fails to defend and it probably goes off his body to first slip. A diving take there by the fielder but to no avail.
  • 30.4 Shakib drops a sitter in his followthrough! Tossed up ball on middle, Roach chips it straight back to the bowler who lets it through his hands. It goes behind and they cross for a run. Shakib just cannot believe it.
  • 30.3 Beaten! Too good for a number 9 batsman! Roach is forward to defend the line which is around off but is beaten by the away spin.
  • 30.2 An arm ball on middle, Dowrich is on the front foot in defense but it takes the inside edge and rolls behind square leg for a run.
  • 30.1 Too full and outside off, pushed off the front foot to covers.
  • 29.6 Roach works it down the leg side to square leg. 88/7
  • 29.5 On leg stump, Roach looks to flick it but misses it completely to get hit low on his pads.
  • Kemar Roach is in next.
  • 29.4 OUT! What a catch! It stuck but still it is a good catch! A bit on the shorter side outside off, Bishoo goes to cut it but checks his shot a bit at the last moment as the ball arrives late. Reaches for it eventually and then ends up giving it to Shadman Islam at silly point. The ball hits his chest and then the debutant manages to grab it. What a debut he is having! Also, this is the sixth fifer for Mehidy Hasan in Tests. The carnage continues in Mirpur.
  • 29.3 Outside off, Bishoo tries to guide it past the slip fielder but cannot get it past him.
  • 29.2 A tad short outside off, enough time for Dowrich to pull it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 29.1 Dowrich rocks back and taps this ball in front of himself.
  • 28.6 Down leg, Bishoo tucks it away past short fine leg but his partner refuses the single. Maiden from Shakib. 87/6
  • 28.5 On middle and leg, Bishoo stays back and taps it near the short leg fielder.
  • 28.4 Beaten! Tossed up ball outside off, Bishoo is drawn forward to play it but cannot get bat to ball.
  • 28.3 Darts this closer to the off pole, Bishoo is solid in his defense.
  • 28.2 Loopy ball on off, driven to the off side.
  • 28.1 On the leg stump, Bishoo plays it with a straight bat.
  • 27.6 Fullish and on off, defended from the crease by Shane to end a successful over. 87/6
  • 27.5 Tossed up ball on middle, turned off the pads to mid-wicket for a run.
  • 27.4 Flatter on off, defended off the back foot.
  • Devendra Bishoo walks in next.
  • 27.3 OUT! Forget the last ball, Hetmyer is gone this time. Mehidy has his man. First delivery was an off spinner which took the outside half of Hetmyer's bat. Then, it was a slider hitting the pads. And now again an off spinner which has dismissed Shimron. It's served in the line of the middle stump and spins away after landing. Hetmyer tries hitting it across the line through mid-wicket but doesn't account for the away spin. It catches the leading half of the bat and lobs back in the direction of the bowler. Mehidy immediately goes down low in his followthrough and catches it inches above the surface. Early blow for Windies. Follow-on looming large.
  • 27.2 Vociferous appeal for an lbw, the umpire shakes his head. Shakib thinks of reviewing but is not convinced enough. A slider by the bowler, landing on middle and skidding down. Hetmyer fails to pick the variation, gets forward to defend and misses. He is thudded on the pads and they put in an unsuccessful appeal. Oh hello, the replays show that it's hitting the leg stump. Bangladesh have missed a trick there.
  • 27.1 Mehidy serves an off spinner around middle and off, from 'round the wicket angle, Shimron gets forward and defends it from the outer half of the bat.
  • 26.6 Flights this time and pitches it full in line of the stumps, Dowrich leans forward and defends it with a straight bat. 86/5
  • 26.5 Quicker through the air, a low full toss, played towards mid-wicket.
  • The batsman pulls out at the last moment, maybe someone walked in front of the sightscreen.
  • 26.4 FOUR! Good shot! No risk in that! Shakib drags his length short and bowls it around off. Shane pushes his weight on the back leg and punches it through point for a cracking boundary.
  • 26.3 Much better this time. Dowrich draws forward to a full ball and defends it watchfully.
  • 26.2 Just short of the point fielder! An uncalled shot, this. Shakib gives this one some extra air and bowls it full and outside off. Dowrich is tempted into the drive but ends up slicing it in the air. Mehidy puts in a dive but it falls in front.
  • 26.1 Beaten first ball! Looking tentative, Shane. Tries to play the trajectory by lunging forward but is beaten by the away spin.
  • 25.6 Given air over the stumps, Hetmyer blocks it out. Good comeback from Mehidy Hasan after going for the first ball six. 82/5
  • 25.5 Tossed up ball around off, Shimron plays it with a straight bat.
  • 25.4 On middle, this time he blocks it well.
  • 25.3 Play and miss. A bit quicker outside off, Shimron looks to cut it but misses.
  • 25.2 Loopy ball around off, Hetmyer taps it to the off side.
  • 25.1 SIX! That's positive. First ball of Mehidy and he deposits it in the stands. Fuller ball in line of the stumps. Hetmyer gets under it and lofts it over long on for a biggie. Also, brings up the 50-run stand between these two. Need to carry along with the same intent.
  • Mehidy Hasan to bowl from the other end.
  • 24.6 Shout for an lbw! Not given. Probably it has not skidded back in enough. An arm ball landing outside off, Dowrich decides to make a leave yet again but it skids through the surface and raps him on the back leg. Shakib appeals but the umpire shakes his head. Impact wasn't an issue there as Dowrich wasn't offering any shot but as mentioned earlier, the ball didn't change its direction enough to make connection with the stumps. The replays confirm the same. 76/5
  • 24.5 Tossed up ball outside off, Dowrich makes a watchful leave.
  • 24.4 Beaten! This will happen a lot today. Shakib tosses this one in the air and lands it closer to off stump. Shane tries to defend the line but it spins away to beat the bat.
  • 24.3 This one is darted in by Shakib, full and on off, Dowrich brings down a straight bat in defense.
  • 24.2 Turn and bounce. It lands around off and spins away sharply, Dowrich watches the line closely before making a leave.
  • 24.1 Starts with a fuller length delivery in the line of the leg stump, Hetmyer flicks it in front of square leg and takes a run. It's important for Windies to stay positive and not get bogged down.
  • We are ready to get Day 3 underway. The Bangladeshi players have taken the field. Shimron Hetmyer and Shane Dowrich take the centre stage. Shakib Al Hasan will bowl the first over of the morning.
  • Mahmudullah doing an interview is pleased that most of the batters did well. Adds that he is happy to contribute for the team. On the balls outside off, he mentions that he is working on it and needs to be more careful. On batting lower down the order, he replies that he has the freedom to express himself.
  • Pitch report - Tino Mawoyo says that the pitch has dried up and there are a few spots outside the off stump for the right-handers. He reckons that the ball will misbehave if it lands there. Ends by giving an advice that using the feet should help the batsmen.
  • Just reminding you all that Windies are batting on the same 22-yards as were the hosts. They just had no answer to the spin bowling of the Tigers. In the span of 12 overs, the visitors lost half their side and are staring down the barrel now. However, Hetmyer and Dowrich looked good out there last evening. They did the rescue act in the first innings of the previous match and now have to do more than that to get their team back in the game. Bangladesh, meantime, will look to make early inroads yet again and then enforce the follow-on, something they have never done in the past. Will we see their spinners dictate terms or do the men from the Caribbean have it in them to stage a fightback? Do not go too far away. Action coming your way in a few minutes.
  • ... Day 3, Session 1 ...
  • The hosts have really planned this Test match superbly. Batted sensibly without taking any unnecessary risk on Day 1 and then capitalized on it on the following day. After all the hard work put in by the batsmen, their bowlers have now turned on the heat and it's all Bangladesh at the moment. Windies have their backs to the wall and need a miracle to turn things around. The current pair has shown application, let's see how they do on Sunday. Do join us at 0930 local (0330 GMT) for all the action. Cheers!
  • Earlier in the day, Bangladesh showed a lot of intent with the bat as they switched gears in the morning. Runs started to flow and they managed to form quite a few partnerships to reach 508. Mahmudullah stroked a patient century while the lower order also contributed to the cause. Windies' bowling was very dismal, mainly from their spinners as they failed to exploit the friendly conditions.
  • Yet another sorry batting performance by Windies. They were exposed badly by the spin pair of Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan and lost half their side inside 12 overs. Their lack of skill and temperament was once again on display as the Bangladeshi spinners steamrolled them. All the five wickets were bowled which also shows the accuracy with which the Bangla tweakers bowled, something the Windies bowlers failed to achieve.
  • 23.6 Spinning down the leg side, Dowrich tries flicking it but misses. That is it. STUMPS, DAY 2! 75/5

  • 18.6 Straighter in line, forced down to long on for one. 48/5
  • 18.5 Hetmyer dances down the track and tries to flick. But it comes off the leading edge and nearly carries back to the bowler.
  • 18.4 Quicker and on off, defended off the back foot.
  • 18.3 NOT OUT! Missing the stumps! Slower through the air by Naeem as he lands it full on middle. The ball spins away after landing as Hetmyer fails to block it with a straight bat. He is rapped on the pads, they appeal and the umpire agrees. Shimron takes the DRS and the Ball Tracker shows that it's spinning way too much. Hetmyer survives.
  • Appeal for an lbw! The finger has gone up. Shimron Hetmyer has opted for the DRS. Spinning too much?
  • 18.2 Fires this one in, full and on middle, Shimron tries to flick but gets a little leading edge back to the bowler.

  • 17.4 Flatter and in the line of the stumps, staying low again, Dowrich is inside the crease in defense.

  • 16.3 Another front foot defense offered by Shane.
  • 16.2 Tossed up ball on off, defended off the front foot.

  • 14.5 In the air...but safe. A shot in frustration there. Loopy ball on leg, Hetmyer looks to go big. Doesn't get under it entirely. To his good luck, it falls short of the long on fielder. They cross.

  • 13.5 Outside off, played to point.
  • 13.4 Beaten! Crazy! Some keep low, some bounce extra! Really a testing surface. Around off, Hetmyer looks to drive this but it spins big time to beat his bat. A very good take from the keeper behind.

  • 12.1 Full on leg, hit away from the mid on fielder for a run.
  • Shane Dowrich is in next at number 7.
  • 11.6 OUT! Tell you what, Windies have lost half their side inside 12 overs. Boy oh boy! What an exhibition of spin bowling! Tossed up ball around off, Hope rocks back to play at this. To his dismay, the ball keeps really low. He tries getting his bat down but it's too late. The ball goes under his bat and meets the stumps. Nothing much you can do as a batsman. Windies in real trouble. Half the side back in the hut, all the batsmen bowled, this must be some kind of a record. 29/5
  • 11.5 On off, hit uppishly towards the bowler to mid off. They cross.

  • 9.4 Lovely! Spins into Hetmyer from outside off who does well to keep it out.
  • Shimron Hetmyer to face the music now.
  • 9.3 OUT! Another one bites the dust! Four down now are the Windies and one of the better players of spin in their team walks back without opening his account. Another batsman playing for the turn loses his timber. Hasan floats this one on off, the ball doesn't spin back in much and that brings Roston's downfall. He has his bat closer to the front pad in anticipation but the ball never arrives. Instead, it takes a route which beats the outside edge of his bat and shatters the stumps. 4 wickets for Bangladesh, two apiece for the spinners and all bowled.
  • 9.2 Played to mid-wicket region by Hope. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 9.1 Down leg side, Hope helps it through deep square leg for a couple of runs.
  • Roston Chase is the new batsman with Windies in huge trouble.
  • 8.6 OUT! 3 in 3. All falling to spinners. Shakib leading the way. The idea was right from Ambris but not the execution as he got fooled by the variation. Shakib flights this on off, Sunil comes down the track and looks to go big over covers. Plays for the turn but the ball doesn't spin. Goes straight and hits the stumps at the back. Bangladesh all over the Windies. How many can they pick up today? 17/3

  • Sunil Ambris' turn to give the spin test.
  • 5.3 OUT! Bowled 'em! This time it is Mehidy Hasan! Bangladesh are on a roll. Arm ball landing on off and it keeps a bit low. A similar mistake like Kraigg as Kieran too leaves some space between bat and pad. The ball goes through the gap and onto the stumps as Powell tries to push it to the off side. The stumps are broken and Mehidy joins the party. Remember, Powell had hit twin centuries in a Test match in Mirpur. Bangladesh will be more than happy to see his back.
  • 5.2 Down leg, Powell looks to flick it but misses to get hit on his pads.

  • 2.3 On off, bunted back to the silly point fielder.
  • 2.2 Another one which comes back in. Shai covers his stumps and leaves it alone.
  • 2.1 Tossed this one full on off, Hope blocks it out.
  • 1.6 Spinning away from the batsman, Powell drives it through the line towards covers. 2/1
  • 1.5 Gives this one air and bowls it outside off, Powell leaves.
  • 1.4 Uses his feet a bit this time and nudges it in the direction of mid on for a run. Shai is off the mark as well.
  • 1.3 Loopy again, landing full around off, Shai draws forward in defense.
  • 1.2 Tossed up delivery, an off spinner on the shorter side, Hope goes on the back foot and taps it down in front of short leg.
  • 1.1 Fuller in length and outside off, Powell drives it through extra cover and gets off the mark with a single.
  • Shai Hope is in at no. 3. Also, Mehidy Hasan to bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6 OUT! Bowled 'em! Shakib Al Hasan, you beauty! Was good with the bat and now even better with the ball. Gets the previous one to spin away and this one skids back in. Arm ball around off, Brathwaite doesn't read it and comes forward to drive it through the line. Leaves a big gap between bat and pad and the ball sneaks through to destroy the stumps. Shakib gets the better of his counterpart and Bangladesh are roaring, already! 0/1
  • 0.5 Spins away from Kraigg who gets behind it and keeps it out.
  • 0.4 Full on middle, driven to mid on.
  • 0.3 Straighter one outside off, left alone.
  • 0.2 Full this time on middle, blocked out.
  • 0.1 Tossed up ball on off, Brathwaite leans forward to block it but gets beaten. What turn on that one. Perhaps needs a second slip.

Bangladesh Vs West Indies Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • The Bangladesh players are now posing with the trophy. They are a happy bunch and want to savor this moment of accomplishment. It's also time for us to sign off. We look forward to your company for the first ODI on 9th December at 1400 local (0800 GMT). Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
  • Bangladesh's skipper, Shakib Al Hasan is chosen for the Player of the Series award. Says that this is something he and the coaching staff want from the team. He is thrilled with the overall team effort. Points that every time the batsmen who got in tried to make it count. Praises all the spinners for the way they bowled in this Test match and gives a special mention to Mehidy Hasan. Lauds Naeem Hasan and Shadman Islam as well for showing good composure and he feels that they can do well in the international arena. Mentions that he cannot ask more than this from his team but quickly says that there is always room for improvement. On his own performance, Shakib admits that he was a bit rusty in the first Test as he trained for only 2-3 sessions and this match was much more comfortable. Reckons he will be at his best in the ODI series.
  • Player of the Match, Mehidy Hasan is smiling and says that he is delighted to get this award after a long time. States that he received good support from the other end from Shakib and Taijul. He is really happy with the win. Adds that he likes batting and goes on to say that their batsmen set the tone by posting 500-plus on the board which made the job easier for the bowlers.
  • Windies' skipper Kraigg Brathwaite says that his bowlers bowled well in this series and that's one of the few positives for them. Praises the batting of Hetmyer and Dowrich (first innings) as well but admits that other batsmen need to show more application. Feels that they didn't get enough partnerships going. States that Test cricket is mentally tough and they have a few FC matches to go before facing England. Mentions that to stay positive is the key and hopes to get better in the ODIs.
  • Everything went according to the plan for Bangladesh. They won an important toss and aimed to bat once by posting a big total. Debutant Shadman Islam, Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan played important roles in taking them to a total over 500. The Windies bowlers, especially the spinners, failed to deliver on a helpful surface and this was also one of the prime reasons for this embarrassing loss for the tourists. Just for the record, this is Bangladesh's first ever Test series win over Windies at home and it truly is a historic one.
  • It was a pretty dismal show by Windies. They didn't benefit much from the Test series in India. Their batsmen lacked the required skill and technique to play spinners and were exposed. Application and temperament, two key characteristics to succeed in Test cricket were also missing. Shimron Hetmyer did show his ability with the bat as he made an attacking 93 while the last pair also sent a message to the top order on how to apply in tough conditions.
  • All over in the blink of an eye! Bangladesh have beaten Windies comprehensively to take the Test series 2-0! Dominance, that's the word to describe their performance. Their spinners were relentless and Mehidy Hasan was ruthless. He bagged a 12-wicket haul, his personal best in Tests and starred the day where 15 wickets fell.
  • 59.2 OUT! BANGLADESH WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 184 RUNS! A nicely tossed up delivery, landing around leg and straightening from there. Lewis tries to flick but misses and is rapped on the pads. They appeal and the umpire nods before raising his finger. The number 11 reviews it but the Ball Tracker shows three reds. Impact in line and it's hitting middle and leg. Bangladesh can continue with their celebration. Their first ever win by an innings! Historic day.

Fails to get underneath the ball and it skies up in the air at long off. Mithun makes no mistake in the deep and Mehidy is ecstatic. Points at his skipper, maybe telling him that's why he wanted a fielder there in the deep. Hetmyer departs, 7 runs short of his maiden Test hundred. He should be disappointed but it was an entertaining knock to say the least.

  • Kemar Roach arrives.
  • 41.4 OUT! Great reflex catch at first slip and Mehidy gets his 10-wicket haul in the match. This is the second time he has achieved this feat in Tests. Wow. Hasan dishes out a short delivery outside off and seeing that Bishoo goes on the back foot to play the square cut. But it takes the outside edge of his bat and Sarkar hangs on to a sharp catch over his head. In the first innings also, Bishoo tried to cut and was caught brilliantly at silly point. So two great catches to dismiss Bishoo twice in a day.
  • 41.3 Drops it full on off and Bishoo is forward in defense.

  • 35.3 SIX! Make that seven! Another slog. Tossed up ball on middle and leg, he slogs it over mid-wicket. This time he doesn't get it well enough but such is the power on those shoulders that it goes well over the ropes.
  • 35.2 On the pads, turned away to the on side.
  • 35.1 SIX! He is only dealing in sixes! His 6th so far, without any fours. Tossed up ball on middle, Hetmyer slogs this over square leg for a biggie.

  • Drinks break. Windies have offered a fight but are still losing wickets at regular intervals. Bangladesh are now just four wickets away from registering a massive innings victory. Devendra Bishoo is the new batsman.
  • 32.2 OUT! Big blow to Windies. Dowrich is caught at first slip. Naeem serves a flighted delivery around off from 'round the wicket, Shane tries to flick it across the line with the spin but it doesn't spin back in much and takes the outside edge on its way to Soumya Sarkar. A good low catch by him. Into the tail now, Bangladesh.
  • 32.1 This one is a little short around off, Hetmyer rocks back and punches it to sweeper cover for a run. Brings up his 4th Test fifty. He has at least offered a fight here. Shimron has got the skills, just need better application. We saw that in India as well. Needs to continue though...

  • 31.4 This one is quite wide outside off, Shane has nothing to do with it.
  • 31.3 Full and outside off, driven straight to the cover fielder.
  • 31.2 Goes aerially but it's safe. Loopy and around off, Hetmyer chips it over mid off for a run. His intention was to go inside-out over covers and miscues his shot. Lucky that it goes on one bounce to the fielder in the deep.
  • 31.1 Fullish and on middle, Shimron defends it back off his front foot.
  • Shakib is back on.
  • 30.6 Naeem bowls short around off, Dowrich cuts from the back foot but doesn't time it well. 94/5

  • 30.3 Short and outside off, cut through point for a run.
  • 30.2 Hetmyer has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 30.1 Edged but safe! Hasan tosses it up in the air, slower one and lands it full outside off. It breaks away after landing and Hetmyer draws forward to play at it with soft hands. But the ball takes the outside edge and dies in front of Sarkar at first slip.

  • 27.5 Turning down the leg side, Dowrich tries to flick but misses.
  • Shane Dowrich walks in next. He looked the most assured batsman for Windies in the first innings. A bit strange that he didn't get the promotion in the batting order. Anyway, now it's up to him and Hetmyer yet again. The same pair that started the day's play.
  • 27.4 OUT! Goodness gracious me. Shai Hope did all the hard work and has now thrown his wicket away. Mehidy drops it short around off, Hope gets back inside the crease with the pull shot and doesn't bother to keep it down. Maybe, he just wanted to play it wide of the short mid-wicket fielder. He did that successfully but there is a mid-wicket fielder present too. Shakib moves across to his left and grabs the catch with ease. The partnership which was blossoming is nipped in the bud. Mehidy is up and running in celebration. His 9th wicket in the match now.

  • 22.4 OUCH! That must have hurt. Outside off, Hope sweeps it hard. Shadman at short leg jumps but the ball hits the back of his ankle. It rebounds there, Rahim behind the stumps is alert and dives to take it but cannot get there in time. Meanwhile, Islam is receiving some treatment here.

  • 18.5 SIX! Hetmyer is not going to sit quietly. Playing his natural game. Pitched up ball on middle and leg, Hetmyer gets under it and lofts it over mid-wicket for a huge hit. There was a man back there but he could only watch it sail over.

  • ... Day 3, Session 2 ...
  • Action-packed morning session! It's Bangladesh, Bangladesh and only Bangladesh. 9 wickets in total fell. Mehidy Hasan was the star and the other spinners also played good supporting roles. Windies didn't put up much fight in the first innings and lost their remaining five wickets in a jiffy. After that, following-on, the script didn't change much. The only thing consistent with Windies at the moment is being consistently poor with the bat. Playing across the line, premeditating a shot, getting caught inside the crease and loosely driving away from the body - this is what happened in the second essay of their batting. Already four down and let's see whether they can survive the next session or not. Do join us in a short while.
  • 15.6 A long hop outside off, Hetmyer goes chasing after it and cuts it through point for a couple of runs. That will be Lunch on Day 3 and Mehidy Hasan is leading his team off the park. 46/4

  • 14.1 Loopy full ball on middle, Hope lunges and blocks it solidly.
  • 13.6 Hetmyer looks to block this but gets it off the inside half towards the short leg fielder. 32/4

  • 13.3 Full and on middle, flicked through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 13.2 Driven through mid on by the batsman. One run added to the total.

  • 12.6 Appeal for a catch, nothing from the umpire. Spinning down, Hetmyer tries flicking but misses. It goes off his pads to leg slip and they appeal. No wood involved. Shakib was advised not to take the referral. 29/4
  • 12.5 Turning down the leg side, Shimron fails to flick and is hit on the pads. A stifled appeal dies down quickly.
  • Shimron Hetmyer is the new batsman.
  • 12.4 OUT! Chase doesn't want to fight either. He's considered to be the best batsman against spinners in this Windies line-up. Disappointing. A tossed up delivery outside off, full in length and turning away. Chase with a sorry footwork goes for a drive and hits it aerially to covers. Mominul takes a good low catch. His front foot never came forward to the pitch of the delivery. Four down already, this is the repeat telecast of last evening.

  • 10.3 What a delivery! Big spin there along with extra bounce. The line is outside off, Chase tries to play inside it and is beaten.
  • Roston Chase walks in next to bat.
  • 10.2 OUT! Ambris is a sitting duck there. Taijul needed just two balls to strike. He dishes out a well-disguised arm ball. Lands it around off and it skids off the surface. Ambris decides to stay inside the crease and play it across the line. But it stays low and strikes him low on the pads. They appeal and the umpire is in agreement. Ambris takes the help of the technology but nothing can be done there. You cannot be more plumb than this. No inside edge either to save you. Wicket number 3 goes down.
  • Appeal for an lbw! Up goes the finger. Sunil Ambris wants to review the decision. That looked dead to the naked eye. Only an inside edge can save him...

  • 4.1 Off spinner on off, Hope covers his stumps and looks to block it but it goes away from him.
  • Sunil Ambris walks in next.
  • 3.6 OUT! Stumped! This is inexplicable. Powell decided very early that he will use his feet. Maybe, the last ball was playing in his mind. Maybe, he didn't want to get caught napping inside the crease and get out either bowled or lbw. So, what does he do? He dances down the track even before the bowler has released the ball. All too easy for Mehidy. He bowls it wide outside off, Powell is already down the track and has no other option but to try and play at it. The ball however spins away sharply to beat his bat. An easy stumping for Rahim. Kieran will have to give a lot of explanation for this shot selection. If I remember properly, he was stumped almost in an exact manner in the second innings of the first Test match. Not sure what they lack more, skill or temperament... 14/2
  • 3.5 Half shout for an lbw! A slider landing around off, Powell is on the front foot in defense but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
  • 3.4 Fires one in on middle, it's worked through square leg for a run.
  • 3.3 Shortish and on off, defended off the back foot.

  • 2.5 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.

  • 0.6 On middle and leg, Hope turns it through mid-wicket to get off the mark. 3/1
  • Shai Hope is the number 3 batsman.
  • 0.5 OUT! Oh dear! Shakib gets his counterpart once again. What is even happening? Fuller arm ball on off, skids inside. Kraigg shuffles across and looks to flick it away. Misses it completely and gets caught in front on his back leg. Shakib appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Brathwaite doesn't even bother reviewing it as he knows he is plumb. Now then, the replays later on show us that there might have been a faint inside edge before the ball hit the pads. How did Kraigg not know? The bat was too close to the ground. He perhaps thought it must have hit the turf.
  • 0.4 The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket. They pick up a single.
  • 0.3 Down the leg side, Kraigg looks to work it away but gets it off his pad towards fine leg for one.
