  • With Afghanistan playing a pacer it will be interesting to see how much will they use him and do they start with him first up.
  • So 342 is what Afghanistan have got. Their total is not far away from the average first innings total of around 370 on this venue. Join us in a short while for Bangladesh's reply.
  • As for Bangladesh's bowling, they were subpar at times on Day 1 but it was a better showing from them this morning. The cameo from Rashid Khan hurt them but they managed to get 5 wickets for just 71 runs. Taijul Islam was the star with the ball picking up 4 wickets. Nayeem Hasan and skipper, Shakib Al Hasan were good with the ball too picking up 2 wickets apiece. Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah too got into the wickets column with one each.
  • Asghar Afghan and Afsar Zazai though could not continue their good work from Day 1 and the experienced Afghan departed just 8 runs shy of his 100. Afghanistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals and it looked like they would struggle to get to 330 but a terrific, quickfire 50 from their skipper, Rashid Khan took them close to 350.
  • After winning the toss, Rashid Khan opted to bat first. It looked like the visitors would struggle against the quality spin of Bangladesh losing 3 wickets under 80 but then we witnessed a historic innings. Rahmat Shah and Asghar Afghan steadied the ship and put together a 120-run stand. In the process, Rahmat became the first Afghanistan player to get to the triple figure mark in Test cricket. He though could not continue his good work and departed straightaway after reaching the milestone. Nabi followed him without troubling the scorers. It looked like Afghanistan would collapse but a brilliant 81-run stand put the visitors back on top.
  • A brilliant quickfire fifty from the Afghanistan skipper has taken his side over 340. A total that is a not just competitive but also very good on this wicket.
  • 116.6 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Rashid's magnificent innings comes to an end. It is a flighted delivery on middle and leg, Rashid dances down the track and tries to loft the ball over Mehidy's head but does not get the required elevation on it. Mehidy jumps up and takes the catch on the second attempt. This quickfire innings from Rashid has got the visitors a score near 350 which is a good one on this wicket. AFGHANISTAN ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 342.
  • 116.5 Loopy ball on off, Rashid defends it to point. He looks for a single but the fielder at cover reaches to it in quick time and saves the run.
  • 116.4 Full delivery outside off, Rashid drives this to long off but does not take a single.
  • 116.3 Loopy ball on middle, Rashid once again defends it out.
  • 116.2 Short delivery on middle, Khan blocks it off the back foot.
  • 116.1 Flighted delivery on middle, Rashid defends it out.
  • Mehidy Hasan is on now.
  • 115.6 Zahir does well. Floated on the stumps, Rashid defends it off the front foot. To negotiate the one ball he was designated to face. 342/9
  • 115.5 Floated on off, Khan comes down the track and milks it towards long on for one.
  • 115.4 Another light-saber leave. Once again it is outside off, Rashid once again gets down on one knee and leaves it alone. Someone's clearing taking note of Smith's technique.
  • 115.3 Is that Steven Smith? No, it is Rashid Khan. Flighted delivery outside off, Rashid gets down on one knee and then does a light saber leave. Replica of the Steve Smith leave we have seen this Ashes.
  • 115.2 Floated outside off, Rashid goes for the big hit on the off side but gets an inside edge which goes past the stumps on the leg side.
  • 115.1 Almost a dramatic end to the Afghanistan innings here. Short outside off, Rashid cuts it to deep point and comes a few steps ahead for a single. Zahir comes a long way but Rashid sends him back. The throw is at the bowler's end but Zahir Khan is back in.

  • 113.5 Flighted delivery on middle, Rashid once again dances down the track and lofts it o long on but this time the fielder gets to it. Rashid takes the singls and gives Zahir one ball to face.
  • 113.4 SIX! Lovely strike from Rashid. Comes down the track does Rashid to this flighted delivery on middle and plays a lofted shot over the long on fielder for a maximum.
  • 113.3 Full delivery on off, Rashid goes for a slog sweep but misses. It hits him very low on the pads.
  • 113.2 Pushed to the cover region by the batsman.
  • 113.1 Flighted delivery around off, Rashid comes down the track to slog it away to the leg side. He does not take a single.
  • 112.6 Loopy ball on off, Zahir flicks it towards the leg side. 327/9
  • Zahir Khan is the last man in.
  • 112.5 OUT! Ahmadzai is out of here! It is a flighted delivery on middle, Ahmadzai attempts to defend off the front foot but gets an inside edge onto his pads which goes towards Soumya Sarkar at first slip. Second wicket for Shakib here. Now it is up to Rashid Khan to get Afghanistan to a good score.
  • Bangladesh have now taken a review for catch. Ahmadzai is the man in question. Soumya Sarkar is dead sure that they have their man. Let us see what the replays have to tell.
  • 112.4 Shakib drags this short, Rashid pulls this to deep mid-wicket and takes a single. The ball was there to be hit and Rashid will feel that he missed out there.
  • 112.3 Flighted delivery on middle, Khan blocks it out.
  • 112.2 Loopy ball on middle, Rashid defends it back to the bowler.
  • 112.1 Flighted delivery on off, Rashid plays a nice drive towards cover where the fielder makes a good diving stop.

  • 109.5 Comes down the track and lofts it over cover. There is a man in the deep so just a single.
  • 109.4 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
  • 109.4 NO BALL! Anti-climatic this! Bangladesh lose one of their two reviews. Floated delivery around off, Rashid gets down on one knee and goes for the sweep. He misses and the ball hits him on the front pad. There is a huge, confident appeal from the Bangladeshi players but the umpire is unmoved. Shakib decides to take the review and signals the 'T'. The umpire takes it upstairs. The third umpire first checks for the front foot. And there is a doubt, he asks the cameraman to freeze it when Taijul lands his front foot. He is unhappy with the landing and signals it as No Ball. Rashid survives a close scare there as if it would have been a clean ball then Rashid would have been out of here as Hawk Eye later on shows that Rashid was dead plumb. That could have been Taijul's fifer.
  • Bangladesh have taken a referral for LBW. Rashid Khan is the man in question.
  • 109.3 On the pads, Rashid flicks it to the on side.
  • 109.2 Tossed up on the stumps, Khan comes down the track and keeps it out.
  • 109.1 DROPPED! Tough chance but a chance nonetheless. Quicker and straighter outside off. Rashid looks to go for a big heave on the leg side. He gets a thin bottom edge which goes behind and deflects off Mushfiqur's left pad.
  • Yamin Ahmadzai comes out to the middle.
  • 108.6 OUT! Caught! Qais' short entertaining stay comes to an end. Shakib gives it air around off. Qais plants out his front foot and looks to defend but ends up getting a thick inside edge onto his pads. The ball then lobs up to the left of silly point. Mominul Haque there takes a good catch. The 23-run stand comes to an end. 322/8
  • 108.5 Tossed up on off, Qais taps it back to the bowler.
  • 108.4 Shorter on off, QA defends it off his back foot.

  • 107.5 SIX! Out of here! Floated on middle, Rashid shows good foot work as he comes down the track and gets to the pitch of the ball. He then smashes it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie.
  • 107.4 Darts one full around the pads, Qais turns it through square leg and gets three.
  • 107.3 FOUR! Qais Ahmad is up and running in Test cricket in some style. This is a gorgeous back foot punch from the youngster. Short around off, Qais transfers his weight on his back foot and creams it through covers for a boundary.
  • 107.2 Shorter on off, Qais punches it back to the bowler.
  • 107.1 Rashid continues his aggressive approach. Tossed up on middle and off, Rashid plays the helicopter shot, showing nice wrist work. Shakib Al Hasan gives it a chase and does really well to pull it before the wide long on fence. Saving a run for his side.
  • 106.6 Tossed up on off, Ahmad strokes it to mid off. 302/7
  • 106.5 Tossed up on off, Qais comes down the track and blocks it.
  • 106.4 OHH! Almost chopped on! Floated delivery on off and middle. Rashid decides to cut loose here and comes charging down the track. He looks to hit it straight but gets a thick inside edge, which to Bangladesh's dismay misses the leg stump and goes towards the fine leg region. The ball does not have the legs to reach the fence. The batsmen take three as the fielder from short fine leg cleans it up.

  • 105.2 OUT! Bowled! Gem of a delivery this from Taijul. He gives this one air and bowls it slower on middle and off. Afsar looks to defend but the ball grips and turns off the surface, squaring up Zazai. The ball goes on to disturb the off pole. Bangladesh's best bowler of the game so far gets another one to his name. His fourth of the game and this would be the one he will relish the most as this was an ideal wicket for a left-arm spinner. Bangladesh's bright start to the day continues.

  • 103.5 Loopy ball on off, Rashid drives this to mid off and takes off for a quick single.

  • 100.1 Loopy ball on middle, Afsar defends it off the front foot.
  • Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan replaces Asghar Afghan in the middle.
  • 99.6 OUT! Caught! Early breakthrough for Bangladesh. The well set Asghar Afghan is out of here. The former skipper cannot continue his patience from Day 1 and departs very cheaply here. Slower through the air on middle, this one spins just a hint. For some reason, Asghar Afghan loses his temperament and composure and goes for a wild, unnecessary slog sweep against the spin. He gets no connection on it and ends up getting a thick top edge. The ball lobs up high in the air just on the side of the pitch on the leg side. Afghan looks down as soon as it goes up as he knows that this was his end. Mushfiqur Rahim calls for it and takes a simple catch. • We are all set to begin Day 2. Overnight batsmen, Asghar Afghan and Afsar Zazai walk out to the middle to resume their innings. The Bangladesh players follow them out to the field. Mehidy Hasan to start the day with the ball for Bangladesh.
  • PITCH REPORT - Tino Mawoyo is down with the pitch report. Mawoyo starts by saying that the pitch is a good one to bat on. Mawoyo reckons that though the Bangladesh spinners bowled well, he credits the Afghanistan players for unsettling them by using their feet. On the weather, Tino says it was dark yesterday but today it is starting to brighten up. Mawoyo feels if Afghanistan can score 400 then they would put themselves in command.
  • Hello and welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of this one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. After a historic Day 1 for Afghanistan, the hosts would look to put on a better show today. The ploy to not play any genuine pacer seems to have backfired for Bangladesh as on the first day of this Test they looked one dimensional at times. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will hope that the experienced Asghar Afghan can continue his good work along with Afsar Zazai and build on their stand. Another record is on the cards for the visitors as their former skipper who is unbeaten on 88 is inching closer to becoming their second player to score a ton. Will Afghanistan continue to prove why they belong with the big boys or will the sun shine brighter on the Bangla shores?
  • ... Day 2, Session 1 ...
  • Bangladesh's aim tomorrow will be to bundle the visitors out as quickly as possible as they know they will have to bat 4th here and they would not want to be staring down a big first innings score. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will want to keep batting and add as many more runs as possible. One believes 350 should be a good total. Join us for what could be another absorbing day of Test cricket. Day 2 begins at 1000 local (0400 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!
  • The Bangladesh side filled their XI with only spinners but the wicket did not play on Day 1 as they thought it would have. There was not a lot of turn and bounce. It was hard work for their bowlers. Islam was the pick though as he took a 2-fer. Nayeem Hasan was also good. Mehidy and Shakib though were a touch disappointing.
  • Rahmat raked up the first ever Test ton for Afghanistan while Afghan got to his half century and he is still unbeaten. Just as it seemed that Bangladesh were looking to crawl back into the game through 2 quick wickets, Afghan, along with Afsar Zazai have added 74 unbeaten runs and have made sure the visitors head into Day 2 on top.
  • Afghanistan's start though was not up to the mark as the openers, after a fighting first hour of the first session, went back to the pavilion in quick time. Shahidi too did not stay out for long. Rahmat Shah though combined with Asghar Afghan to add 120 runs and take the visitors to a commanding position. The two played with a lot of determination and were also not bogged down as they played attacking shots on timely occasions too.
  • Tremendous day of Test cricket where the Afghans end with the upper hand. They have justified the decision of their skipper of batting first and they will be very happy with how things have ended on Day 1.

  • 88.2 On the pads, Zazai works towards the leg side past the short leg fielder.
  • 88.1 Floated ball around off, Afghan pushes this straight to cover for a run.
  • A relaxing break it seems as the physio from both sides are out on the field. The Afghanistan physio is relaxing Asghar Afghan's muscles whereas, the Bangladesh physio is doing the same with Shakib Al Hasan. Seems like it is a bit humid out there as the players once again grab a quick drink in this interval.

Slower through the air closer to off pole. Rahmat goes for a big drive but the ball kisses the outside edge of his bat and goes low to first slip. Soumya Sarkar there shows good reflexes and takes a very good catch. End of a brilliant knock from the Afghani batter though. He will get a lot of praise for this and rightfully so.

  • ... Day 1, Session 3 ...
  • Rahmat is closing to his and Afghanistan's maiden Test ton while Asghar Afghan is moving towards his half century. As they return post the Tea break, the duo would like to continue doing the good work. The hosts, on the other hand, would be desperate to break this stand and try to make inroads in the lower middle order of Afghanistan after that. Join us in a while.
  • TEA! 114 runs, no wickets. This should tell you which side goes into Tea with an upper hand. Rahmat Shah and Asghar Afghan have looked rock solid in their defense and have not missed out on putting the bad balls away. As far as the Bangladeshi spinners are concerned, they have hardly got any purchase from the surface. One can say that they have been a bit wayward as well but the Afghani duo in their 114-run stand have not given much of a sniff to them. Afghan also survived a LBW call with the help of DRS.

Shah is almost half way down, Shakib gets to the ball quickly and has a shy at the bowler's end. Unfortunately for Bangladesh, the skipper misses his shy at the stumps. Mehidy appeals and the umpire gives it out. Asghar after consulting the non striker goes for a review and he is proved right. The replays roll in and the Ball Tracker shows that the ball is going on to miss the leg stump.

  • ... Day 1, Session 2 ...
  • So after a fast first session what is in store for us in the second? Will Bangladesh continue to spin the web or will Afghanistan find a way to fight it out? Join us after the break to find out.
  • Afghanistan have done better than the last time they played a Test in the subcontinent. But the lack of experience has been quite evident. They started off cautiously but have been unable to build on the budding stands. Rahmat Shah has shown technique and composure but he needs someone to hang around with him if Afghanistan are to reach a decent total.
  • LUNCH! Bangladesh will be the side heading into the break with their heads held high. They have done brilliantly to peg the visitors back. In a side where all the front line bowlers are spinners, without any surprise all wickets have fallen to the spinners. Taijul Islam has been the pick of the bowlers in the morning session, picking up two wickets and in the process becoming the second highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in Tests. Mahmudullah was the other bowler to get into the wickets column.
  • 32.4 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! The bowling change works wonders. Mahmudullah, out of all the spinners Bangladesh have, is the one to get the breakthrough. A sharp catch there by the slip fielder. Not easy when it goes that quickly. Mahmudullah bowls this flatter and shorter outside off. Shahidi looks to play it late but the ball skids through, flies off the outside edge and Sarkar at first slip takes it nicely. The Bangladesh players are ecstatic. Shahidi walks back without making an impact. The other players follow him too as IT IS LUNCH ON DAY 1!

Bangladesh's last Test encounter was against the Kiwis in New Zealand before the World Cup which they lost. However, at home, Bangladesh are a powerful Test team and Afghanistan, playing only the third Test will be vary of that. Shakib Al Hasan is back to lead the Test side. He had a terrific World Cup on a personal note and would look to continue doing the same for his side in the longest format of the game. The Afghans raked up a win against Ireland in their second Test and would like to repeat the same against the hosts to take their rivalry to another level. They will look at their skipper Rashid Khan for all the inspiration along with their batters like Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi to tackle the Bangladeshi spin threat. Notably, this game is not a part of ICC World Test Championship but Bangladesh who are part of the tournament will look to have a positive start before getting into the grove of the 2-year long tournament. In all, we are in for an exciting Test match. Welcome to our coverage.

Bangladesh Vs Afghanistan Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • With the lead of 137, Afghanistan will come out high on confidence and with the pitch deteriorating this lead will be a huge booster. Join us in a while for Afghanistan's second innings.
  • Liton Das, Mominul Haque and Mosaddek Hossain. Only this trio put on some fight and if not for them Bangladesh might have found themselves following on in this Test. There was little to no resistance from the Bangladeshi batsmen. Taijul did offer to some support to Mosaddek but was dismissed in the very first over of the day.
  • Brilliant bowling display from the visitors. Everyone who bowled did really well and it has been a collective effort from this young Test playing nation. The skipper, Rashid Khan led from the front getting a 5-wicket haul to his name. He was well supported by the other bowlers. Apart from Zahir Khan everyone else had a wicket to their name with Nabi getting a 3-fer in his last Test.
  • Rashid Khan, Afghanistan's talismanic captain leads his side off the field becoming the first Afghanistan player to get a 5-wicket haul in Test cricket.
  • 70.5 OUT! LBW! The skipper Rashid Khan becomes the first player from Afghanistan to take a five-fer in Tests. Excellent bowling performance from him and it has helped the visitors take a huge lead of 137 runs on this wicket. Coming to the ball, Rashid bowls a googly around off, Nayeem does not pick it and attempts to leave the ball after getting down on one knee. The ball goes on to hit the front pad. Afghan players appeal and the umpire gives it out. Hasan immediately goes for a review which seems in desperation. The replays roll in and Hawk Eye shows three reds. With that, Bangladesh have been bowled out for 205.

Nabi bowls a loopy delivery on off, Taijul goes for a hoick in the first over of the day and misses. The ball goes on to hit the stumps. This shot was not needed at all so early on in the day. He needed to support Mosaddek and get as close as possible to Afghanistan's score. But he went for glory but the only place he has gone with that is back to the pavillion. Nabi gets his third and he is having a farewell Test to remember so far.

  • PITCH REPORT - Tino Mawayo is down with the pitch report. Mawayo starts by informing us about the weather. He says that it is a different weather than the previous day as there are lot of dark clouds and also informs us that it rained a bit overnight. Mawayo reminds us that there were a lot of balls that kept low and the batsmen will need to play with their bat down. On the surface, he says there has been a lot of rough on the pitch which has been created by Ahmadzai. Tells with Bangladesh needing to chase in this game on this pitch it will be a tough task.
  • Trail - 148, wickets in hand - 2, current partnership - 48. That's where Bangladesh will start Day 3 from. The hosts had a terrible day with the bat yesterday and at one stage it looked like they would struggle to even get to 200 but the duo of Mosaddek and Taijul have taken them to a total of some parity. Their job is not done and they would look to continue the fight and reduce the deficit even further. Afghanistan were excellent with the ball yesterday but this batting pair has annoyed them. Rashid Khan and co. will look to get rid of the tail quickly and build on a big lead. The question is how big will the lead be? Another exciting day of Test cricket awaits us. Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of this one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
  • ... Day 3, Session 1 ...
  • So that is it from Day 2. Another day of Test cricket to remember for Afghanistan as they continue to defy the odds and dominate this Test. Bangladesh would hope that Mosaddek Hossain and Taijul Islam can continue their fight and take them as close to Afghanistan's total as possible. Will Bangladesh be able to get near the Afghan total or will visitors wrap them up quickly and build on the big lead? Join us on Saturday, 7th September at 1000 Local (0400 GMT) for the start of Day. Till then, take care!
  • When the hosts came out to bat, they were caught in a defensive web. No strokes were being played and the Afghan spinners were allowed to be on top. Liton Das and Mominul Haque tried to show some fight but eventually were consumed by the pitch. Mosaddek has definitely shown some grit and has got some support from Taijul. The deficit is under 150 but the last 2 wickets would need to add at least 100 to get their side into some sort of contention.
  • Starting the day at 271/5, Afghanistan lost Asghar Afghan and Afsar Zazai pretty early and at that stage, Bangladesh would have harboured hopes of a collapse but a Rashid Khan blinder delayed proceedings. • ... Day 2, Session 2 ...
  • It has been Afghanistan that have been on top in majority of the play so far. Can they continue to be on top or will Bangladesh find a way to fight back in this batting friendly track? Join us after the break to find out.
  • The hosts started the day brightly as they picked up quick wickets of the well-set Asghar Afgan and Afsar Zazai early on in the session but Rashid Khan did not allow the hosts to run away with the advantage as he made sure that the visitors get to a total close to 350 with his quickfire fifty. The hosts bowled really well but they would be disappointed not to wrap up the innings early on.
  • LUNCH! Solid end to the session for Afghanistan as they have picked up an important wicket of Shadman Islam in the very first over of Bangladesh's innings and have given only one run in the four overs that they bowled in the session.
  • 3.6 Shorter and quicker on off, Liton gets on his back foot and defends the ball onto the ground. Das covers the ball with his leg as he feels that the ball might go onto hit the stumps. That will be Lunch on Day 2. 1/1

Bangladesh Vs Afghanistan Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Around 40 minutes left in the session. How many wickets can Afghanistan snare? Can Bangladesh begin their reply positively? The players are already out on the field. Liton Das and Shadman Islam are the openers for Bangladesh. Yamin Ahmadzai to start the proceedings to Das. Three slips in place. Here we go!
  • Coming to Afghanistan, a bit puzzling to see them bat this morning, to be honest. With a pretty poor forecast of the weather for today and tomorrow, it would have been logical to have declared overnight but they chose to bat and extend the lead. Not a very good batting display but Ibrahim Zadran and Asghar Afghan ensured that Bangladesh do not have a sniff to win. Shakib got 3 wickets, being the best of the bowlers easily while the others were there on and about but struggled mostly.
  • So just under 7 overs needed for Bangladesh to wrap things up this morning. But they have a tall task in front of them. The overall lead is 397 and even though Bangladesh have two days technically, it is going to take a huge effort.
  • 90.1 OUT! CAUGHT! It takes just one ball for Mehidy this morning to wrap things up. Full and outside off, Zahir lunges to defend but the ball flies off the bat's outside edge towards silly point. A sharp catch by Mominul Haque and that ends the innings. AFGHANISTAN ALL OUT FOR 260!
  • Mehidy Hasan into the attack now.
  • 89.6 DROPPED CHANCE! Almost pulled it off. Landed outside off, Zazai punches this towards the bowler, but a bit uppishly. Taijul gets across to collect but cannot hang on. 260/9
  • 89.5 Full on middle, flicked through mid-wicket but straight to the fielder.
  • 89.4 Outside off, another back foot defense.
  • 89.3 The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 89.2 Around off, punched towards cover.
  • 89.1 Around middle, punched back to the bowler.
  • 88.6 Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat. 260/9
  • Zahir Khan is the last man in.
  • 88.5 RUN OUT! Ahmadzai is gone this time. Outside off, angling in, Zazai backs away to the leg side and punches it towards cover. He sets off quickly for the single but his partner is caught napping. He takes off late and by that time the throw comes to the keeper, albeit a bit wide. Rahim collects and then drags himself onto the stumps to dislodge the bails. Referred upstairs but replays show that Yamin is gone this time.
  • 88.4 Full and outside off, Yamin comes down the track and drills this down to long on for a run.
  • 88.3 The batsman gets an inside edge and the ball hits him on the pads.

  • 88.1 Full and outside off, flicked straight to short mid-wicket.
  • 87.6 Full and outside off, Afsar looks to defend but the ball goes off the outside edge. Sneaks past first slip and the batsmen take a couple. 259/8

  • 87.4 Another back foot punch for a run.
  • 87.3 Outside off, punched off the back foot for a single.

  • 86.2 Outside off, Afsar looks to cut but misses.
  • 86.1 Full and outside off, Zazai lunges to defend but gets an outside edge which does not carry to first slip. The ball goes past him but the batsmen do not run.
  • 85.6 Full and outside off, watchfully defended. 246/8
  • 85.5 SIX! Lovely shot. Full and outside off, Ahmadzai comes down the track and sends it sailing over long off! Terrific shot. This guy can bat alright!

  • 84.6 Close... full and outside off, Yamin lunges to defend but the ball flies off the outside edge past silly point! 239/8
  • 84.5 NOT OUT! Yamin Ahmadzai survives. Flatter delivery, Afsar cuts it to point and takes off for a quick single but Yamin is late to take off. The fielder at point throws it to Rahim, who should have been standing behind the stumps but was in front of it instead. Hence, he got late in hitting the stumps at his end and that is what probably has saved Yamin Ahmadzai there. The third umpire is called into check and the replays show that the batsman was in. A run out chance there missed.
  • Run out appeal! Has Mushfiqur Rahim shelled an opportunity? Looks so. Replays show that Ahmadzai is in.
  • 84.4 The batsman has punched the ball off the back foot.

  • After being delayed for over an hour due to rain, we are all set to begin Day 4. The Bangladesh players are out in the middle along with Afsar Zazai and Yamin Ahmadzai. Taijul Islam will finish his over with Afsar Zazai taking strike.
  • Tino Mawoyo is out there for the pitch report. Mawoyo says there has been a lot of rain overnight. He says that the pitch has taken a lot of turn which is more than what happens in Chattogram. Further states that the pitch will take more turn as the day progresses and if you are a left-hander, it will be tough work as the patch of dust will rise up.
  • Update - 1135 Local - Good news! The pitch inspection is done and play will start at 1150 Local time. Lunch will be taken at 1300 Local with Tea at 1540 and the play will go on till 1740 with an extended half an hour if the overs are not completed.
  • Update - 11.04 am local (0504 GMT) - We are hearing that the covers are being slowly peeled off and some sunshine has appeared. Fingers crossed for a start soon.
  • We are getting information that a depression is being formed on the Bay of Bengal and there is forecast for heavy rain for both the days. So a draw cannot be ruled out.
  • Oh dear. Bad news to begin with. We were supposed to start 20 minutes early but it is raining in Chittagong. However, it is not too heavy at the moment. Hopefully, it is not for very long. Stay tuned for further updates.
  • Bangladesh would not mind the weather forecast one bit. They have been behind the 8-ball ever since the Afghan-Rahmat partnership in the first innings and not been able to recover. They would love if it rains but then would not want to be over-reliant on the same. Afghanistan would believe that if they get close to 50-60 overs at the home side, they can win this Test. But the longer they bat, the better it will be for the Bangladeshis.
  • Hola there! Day 4, only Test. Final day probably? Who knows. Afghanistan would believe that 374 is more than enough but after what happened to Australia in 'Stokes'ingley, they would just want to get to 400 to bat Bangladesh out of the game. Having said that, the forecast for the remaining two days is iffy. Should that pave way for an overnight declaration?
  • ... Day 4, Session 1 ...
  • Going to Day 4, Afghanistan would look to add a few more runs to their lead before declaring and they would be hoping that they finish the game on Day 4 itself. Bangladesh are in a huge spot of bother here and only something special will save them from the blushes. Join us on Sunday, 8th September, 20 minutes early at 0940 Local (0340 GMT) for the start of Day 4. Until then, cheers.
  • Bangladesh, well, seem to be just going through the motions. They would have wanted their last two wickets to last a bit longer than they did and with the ball, would have wished to get quick wickets. They got 3 quickly but once that massive partnership came, shoulders started to droop. Nothing much was available from the track either which made life difficult for the bowlers.
  • After bowling out the Bangladesh batters for 205, the hosts did not start all that well losing two wickets in the first over itself. But Ibrahim Zadran and Asghar Afghan stitched a magnificent 108-run stand to give an advantage to the visitors. Following their wickets, Rashid Khan played a brief cameo showing signs of declaration but they let the lower order batsmen have all the fun before bad light stopped play.
  • Another excellent outing for the visitors here, they have gotten a huge lead of 374 runs and are in the driver's seat at the moment. With two days to go still in the Test match, Afghanistan are likely favorites to upset the hosts here.

Ball Tracker rolls in and shows that it is umpire's call. It looked like it had gone off the bat but it was not to be. Qais has to make the long walk back.

It will be interesting to see if they are targeting a certain score or trying to get as much as possible for all their wickets. Bangladesh have looked reactive rather than proactive and they need to find a way to stop the barrage of runs.
