  • Now then, the total is a mediocre one and Bangladesh should back themselves to chase this down. Afghanistan though do have the caliber to defend such totals. Can they do so and get back to winning ways or will Bangladesh head into the finals with winning momentum? Stay tuned to find out.
  • The Bangladesh bowlers did not begin in the best of manners but once again, once the ball got old, scoring became difficult. The spinners managed to not only take wickets in the middle overs but also choke the runs. The pacers too were handy after that. Afif was the pick as he had exceptional figures of 3-1-9-2. He was well supported by the other spinners too.
  • The story of today for the visitors was quite similar to the one yesterday. Their openers started off in a brilliant manner and added 75 and laid the foundation for a big score. Zazai fell three short of his half ton but ended up as the top scorer for his side. His wicket began the procession as Afghanistan slipped from 75 for 1 to 96 for 5. Not easy to recover after such a collapse in the shorter format. However, the visitors did manage to crawl above the 135-run mark which means they have something to bowl at.
  • End of another excellent bowling performance by Bangladesh but once again, Afghanistan's middle order fails to capitalize on the start given to them by their openers and hence, it is the hosts which head into the break as the happier side.
  • 19.6 Fuller one again, Rashid jams it towards mid-wicket for a single. 9 from the final over as Afghanistan finishes the innings with 138 runs on the board.
  • 19.5 Full toss, Shafiqullah goes to paddle it fine down the leg side but can't get it of the middle of the bat. The ball takes the outer half and goes towards cover for a single.
  • 19.4 A yorker on the pads, Shafiqullah squeezes it towards deep square leg and takes a quick couple.
  • 19.3 FOUR! A much needed boundary. Good length ball around off, Shafiqullah drills it through the cover region and into the fence. He is playing a very important knock.
  • 19.2 On middle and a fuller one, Rashid flicks it towards deep square leg for a single.
  • 19.1 NOT OUT! PITCHING OUTSIDE LEG! Rahman bowls a perfect yorker and Rashid looks to reverse sweep it but is nowhere in the position to play it and gets rapped on the pads. Mustafizur appeals as soon as the ball hits the pads but the umpire is unmoved. Shakib consults his bowler and then signals 'T'. The replays roll in and it shows that it's a legal delivery and there is also no spike on the Ultra Edge as the ball went past the bat. The only thing that can save Rashid is where the ball pitched. Hawk Eye comes in and yes the umpire was right as the ball pitched outside leg. Bangladesh lose the review.
  • Shakib goes for the review after Rashid has been not given out. That looked to be pitching outside leg. Let's see what the replays show.
  • Mustafizur Rahman to bowl the final over of the innings.
  • 18.6 Outside off this time, Khan drills it towards long off on the bounce for a single. Just 5 runs from the over. Shafiul finishes with 4-0-24-1. 129/7
  • 18.5 Outside off, Rashid shuffles across the off stump and lifts it left of the bowler for a couple. That was from the toe-end of the bat and hence couldn't go to the fence.
  • 18.4 Fuller on the pads, timed towards long on for a single.
  • 18.3 Fuller this time, Rashid whips it towards deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • 18.2 Swing and a miss! Outside off on a good length. Rashid goes for the slog but can't connect. Pretty close to the off stump tramline that one.
  • 18.1 Outside off this time, Rashid stays in his crease to paddle it but finds the mid-wicket fielder.
  • 17.6 FOUR! What a hit that is. Shafiqullah lays flat on the ground after completing the shot. Saifuddin goes for the yorker but dishes out a low full toss and Shafiqullah paddles it over the short fine leg fielder which goes into the fence for a boundary. Every run is important for Afghanistan. 10 runs from the over. 124/7
  • 17.5 Yorker on the stumps, Rashid squeezes it to mid on for a single.
  • 17.4 What an effort from Liton but he can't hold on. Almost a stunner. This is back of a length ball, Rashid plays it awkwardly towards the off side. Liton flew to his right to take it with one hand but as his hand hits the ground, the ball popped out. Rashid gets a couple.
  • 17.3 Full ball on middle, Rashid shuffles across the off side and drills the shot straight to the cover fielder.
  • 17.2 Good length ball around off, Rashid drives it past the cover fielder and takes a quick couple. Brilliant running between the wickets.
  • 17.1 Brilliant yorker but Shafiqullah does well to push it towards long on for a single.
  • 16.6 Khan gets one on the pads and he flicks it to mid-wicket and looks for an unlikely single which is not there. Right call by the non-striker to send his skipper back in time. 114/7
  • Rashid Khan is in now and he needs to score a few quick runs to take Afghanistan towards a decent score.
  • 16.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Afghanistan falling like nine pins today. Islam goes short and Janat pulls it with power to mid-wicket. But he is not able to control the hit and thus fails to go the distance and finds the fielder in the deep mid-wicket region. Good bowling this from Bangladesh bowlers. They are mixing their lines and lengths properly to cause all the troubles to the Afghan batsmen.
  • 16.4 Shafiqullah punches this length ball to the off side for a single.
  • 16.3 A short one and Janat pulls it away to mid-wicket for a single.
  • 16.2 Length and on off, Shafiqullah squeezes it to point and takes off for a quick single. The man at point has a shy at the striker's end only to miss it. Had he hit Janat was a goner as he was nowhere in the frame when the ball went past the stumps at the striker's end.
  • 16.1 Shortish ball outside off, Janat slaps it over the point region for a single.
  • Shafiul Islam is back into the attack.
  • 15.6 Nails the yorker again but Shafiqullah gets his bat down in time to jam it. A superb over from Saifuddin, 3 runs and a wicket. 110/6
  • 15.5 Good length ball around off, driven towards cover for a single.
  • 15.4 OUT! Knocks him over with a yorker! What a beauty from Saifuddin! This is a fuller ball around off, Zadran goes to flick it off his toes but misses. The ball goes to hit the off and middle stump. Oh wait, has he overstepped there? They are checking for the no ball. Looks just fine but the third umpire is taking his time. Well, Zadran needs to continue his walk back to the pavilion.
  • 15.3 Short ball on middle, does not rise much. Shafiqullah pulls it to mid-wicket to get to the other end.
  • 15.2 On a length and on off, Shafiqullah defends it to the off side.
  • 15.1 On a length and outside off, Zadran pushes it to covers and takes a single.

  • 14.2 SIX! Slogged for a six to get off the mark. What a strike. Flighted delivery around off, Shafiqullah gets into the position and slog sweeps it over the mid-wicket fence. The ball went sailing into the stands.
  • 14.1 Around off, Zadran pushes it towards mid off for a single.
  • 13.6 Tossed up on middle, Shafiqullah works it to mid-wicket. 96/5
  • 13.5 Flatter one on middle, Shafiqullah flicks it to the leg side.
  • 13.4 Tosses one up and on middle, Shafiqullah sweeps only to find the man at short fine leg.
  • 13.3 Tossed up outside off, Shafiqullah defends it to the leg side.
  • Shafiqullah is the new man in.
  • 13.2 OUT! Brilliant work from Mahmudullah who had dropped a sitter earlier in the innings. A flighted ball on off, Zadran taps it towards point and wants a quick single. Mahmudullah hares at the ball and sends an under arm throw back to the keeper. Mushfiqur collects the ball and whips the bails off to find Naib short of the crease.
  • A run out appeal taken upstairs by the umpire.
  • 13.1 SIX! A much needed one. Full ball around off, Zadran slogs it over the long on fence for a maximum.
  • 12.6 Quicker one around off, Zadran drives it towards mid off for a single. 90/4
  • 12.5 Fuller one this time, Naib pushes it through mid off for a single.
  • Gulbadin Naib is the next batter in for Afghanistan.
  • 12.4 OUT! LBW! A huge wicket for Bangladesh as Nabi could be very destructive. Shakib strikes. He tosses one up and Nabi looks to sweep but is late into the shot and the ball sneaks past the bat to hit him flush on the pads. The umpire raises his finger in a flash as soon as Shakib appeals. Nabi has a chat with his partner about the review but then walks off. Hawk Eye later says Nabi made the right call of not using the DRS as the ball was hitting him in line and going to crash on the leg stump. Afghanistan in deep trouble.
  • 12.3 Goes for the reverse sweep this time but can't connect. He is hit on the pads and the ball goes towards square leg for a single. A muted appeal but that was pitching on leg.
  • 12.2 A slower one, pushed back to the bowler.
  • 12.1 In the air but past the bowler. Flatter ball around off, Nabi looks to work it through mid off but he miscues the shot to the left of Shakib uppishly. He throws his left hand but can't get to the ball. A single taken.
  • Shakib Al Hasan comes back on. His figures so far 2-0-10-0.
  • 11.6 On middle on a fullish length, worked towards mid-wicket for a single. Another tight over from Hossain. Just three runs of it. 86/3

  • 10.6 Slightly fuller around off, Nabi drives it towards deep cover for a single to get off the mark. 83/3
  • 10.5 Length ball around off, Nabi taps it towards point.
  • 10.5 WIDE! Well, the keeper went for the appeal this time as this good length ball goes down the leg side. Called wide instantly by the umpire. Probably trying to put pressure on the umpire.
  • 10.5 WIDE! Back of a length ball but down the leg side. Nabi lets it go to the keeper.
  • Mohammad Nabi is the new man in.
  • 10.4 OUT! CAUGHT & BOWLED! Afghanistan losing the plot here. From 75/0 to 80/3. Rahman gets the big fish Rahmanullah Gurbaz. He was looking good here but fails to convert the early life given by Mahmudullah. He looks to slog a good length delivery from Rahman but is early into the shot only to get a leading edge. Rahman makes a loud call and goes for the catch. Bangladesh would be relieved that the drop earlier does not cause any major damage.
  • 10.3 Good length ball outside off, Gurbaz looks to slam it over the long on fence but gets an inside edge and into the third man fence. Lucky runs.
  • 10.2 On a fuller length and on off, Gurbaz plays it to covers.
  • 10.1 On a length and on off, Zadran pushes it to mid off and gets to the other end.

  • Najibullah Zadran is the new man in.
  • 9.5 OUT! In the air.. and taken. Two wickets in the over. That wasn't needed from Afghan. Only the second ball and he tries to go big. He didn't get to the pitch of the delivery but went for the mighty hoick over the mid-wicket fence. He can't connect well as the ball balloons high in the air towards long on. Shanto settles under it and grabs it well.
  • 9.4 Flatter one around off, Afghan blocks it towards the off side.
  • Asghar Afghan is the new man in for Afghanistan.
  • 9.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Afif draws the first blood. He gets the timely breakthrough for the hosts. Zazai was living by the edge of the sword and he runs out of luck. • 7.2 Another back of a length ball outside off, Zazai guides it towards third man for a single.

Bangladesh Vs Afghanistan Live Score (T20) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • That is it from this game! The hosts now head into the final with winning momentum on their side whereas, the visitors, after losing their last two games. All that now needs to be put behind though as the game that matters now, the Final, is what both the teams will want to win. It takes place on the 24th of this month at 1800 local (1230 GMT). Till then, goodbye and take care.
  • Bangladesh skipper, Shakib Al Hasan is Man of the Match for his unbeaten half century. Shakib starts by saying that it is a big win for his side. Adds that their performance in the last few months hasn't been up to the mark. Points that they felt that someone needed to stay till the end and adds he is happy he did the task for his side. On his form in the last couple of games, Shakib tells that he was middling the ball well so it was just about time he got a good score. The Bangladeshi captain praises his bowling and fielding performances and adds that they got players standing up whenever they were in trouble. On the two consecutive wins, Shakib says that this win will boost their confidence going into the finals. He presses though that they will have to be to on their toes to beat Afghanistan in the final.
  • Rashid Khan is called up first for a little chat. On asked about his injury, Rashid says that it is a hamstring injury and is hopeful that he will be able to play the final. He adds that as soon as he felt he was 50 percent fit, he came in to bowl. Talking about the middle order collapse the skipper says that they shouldn't have lost so many wickets in the middle phase of their innings. Finishes by saying that they will try to work out these issues ahead of the finals.
  • Earlier in the day, the Afghans once again got off to a flier after being inserted. Zazai was the star for them with the bat. However, their middle order failed to make an impact once again and they were restricted to a score which was slightly under par. They did give it their all to defend the total but the difference between the two sides was Shakib Al Hasan. Stay tuned for the presentation in a while.
  • The Bangladesh bowling was brilliant to begin with as Naveen and Mujeeb took early wickets. But they dearly missed Rashid in the middle overs as he limped off clutching his hamstring. A lot was expected of Nabi at that moment but the veteran failed to deliver. Janat too did not have a day to remember despite him taking a wicket. Rashid did return, he did make an impact but it was his third over which went for 18 runs ended the hopes of Afghanistan coming on top in this game.
  • The chase though did not start in the best of manners for the hosts. They lost their openers early and were struggling big time till the 5th over. However, two boundaries from Shakib in the 6th over broke the shackles. He along with Rahim then put up a vital stand which took Bangladesh on top. However, a mini-collapse in between where the hosts slipped from 70 for 2 to 104 for 6 saw the visitors fight back into the game. Shakib though was the key and Afghanistan missed an opportunity when Shakib edged but the visitors failed to pick it and it cost them a lot. He along with Mosaddek, who played a decent hand, took Bangladesh over the line.
  • An excellent chase by Bangladesh in the end! The crowd is relishing the moment here. Shakib Al Hasan, their skipper, is the hero for them and they have managed to beat Afghanistan in a T20I game for the first time in 5 years.

  • 17.6 Shortish one, tucked towards the leg side by Shakib to keep the strike. A massive massive over as 18 came off it. 130/6
  • 17.5 SIX! Massive! Poor from the Afghan skipper. In the slot and on the pads, Shakib powers it over the deep mid-wicket fence to get a maximum. Getting his side closer to the win.
  • 17.4 FOUR! BAM! Shakib is attacking his counterpart. This is fuller and on the pads, Shakib slogs this towards the deep mid-wicket fence to bag a boundary now. Second of the over.
  • 17.3 Flatter one outside off, Shakib drives it through covers and hares back for a single. A poor throw from the fielder and the skipper is not happy.
  • 17.2 On the pads, pushed towards deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • 17.1 FOUR! Pierces the gap superbly between point and short third man. This was slightly short, Mosaddek stayed back and guided it nicely towards the third man fence. Important runs.
  • 16.6 A single to end another good over by Mujeeb. End of his spell tonight. He once again finishes with excellent figures of 4-0-19-1. His last ball is pushed towards cover for one. 112/6
  • 16.5 A couple! Top, top effort by Nabi. Excellent from the senior player. Leading from the front. This is slightly short and on middle, Mossadek goes back and pulls it hard in between deep mid-wicket and long on. Nabi in the former position runs to his left, dives and saves two for his side.
  • 16.4 NOT OUT! Mosaddek has got his foot down in time! A dot though which is gold dust at this stage. It is the googly from Mujeeb outside off. Mosaddek swings but misses. The keeper whips the bails off and appeals. The umpire takes it upstairs again. Replays show that Mosaddek did lift his foot but he got it down in time. JUST!
  • A stumping appeal has been referred upstairs now. Is the back leg in the air?
  • 16.3 NOT OUT! Mosaddek is easily in. Two runs in the end and it is handy two runs. This is flatter and outside off. MH guides it towards short third man and the batters go for one. The fielder scores a bull's eye at the non-striker's end but the ball after hitting the stumps, deflects away from the bowler. The batters take another run. The bowler is appealing and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replays show that Mosaddek is fine.
  • A run out decision taken upstairs.
  • 16.2 One more single! Shakib comes down the track but does not get to the pitch of the ball. He hits it down to long on for one.
  • 16.1 Shorter and on middle, this is pulled through square leg for one.
  • Mujeeb Ur Rahman into the attack for his final over. Can he get a wicket or two to help Afghanistan's cause.
  • 15.6 Another top nut to end a top class over from Rashid. This is the googly on off, it turns back in. Mosaddek looks to defend but it goes off the inner half towards short fine leg for one. 105/6
  • Mosaddek Hossain is the next batter in for the hosts. He needs to support the skipper who is at the other end.
  • 15.5 OUT! TIMBER! Second wicket for Rashid Khan. What a superstar this guy is. Just amazing. He is hobbling around but is still turning around the game for his side. Another Bangladesh batter plays a poor shot. Afif walks right across the stumps and looks to play the slog sweep but misses and the ball hits the leg pole. 35 needed in 25. Afghanistan slowly creeping on top.
  • 15.4 The batsman defends it from within the crease. They pick up a single.
  • 15.3 Shortish and on middle, it is the googly. Afif pulls it through mid-wicket for one.
  • 15.2 Flatter and on middle, this is pushed back to the bowler.
  • 15.1 Drags the sweep from outside off through mid-wicket for one.
  • 14.6 Cleverly played in the end! Looks to paddle scoop it but then sees the line and the length is not right to play that shot. It is full and around off, Shakib Al Hasan adjusts and pushes it towards cover for one. End of a successful over by the youngster. 101/5
  • 14.5 Top nut! Shakib makes room. Naveen follows the batter and bowls a yorker. Shakib fails to jam it out and the keeper dives to his right and stops it. Now then... there was an edge on this delivery, Ultra Edge does suggest so. There was no appeal from the bowler or the keeper though. Nobody must have heard anything there. Probably the crowd played its part by cheering out loud. Advantage of being the home side.
  • 14.4 Fifty for Shakib Al Hasan. 9th in T20Is. The skipper, like so many times in his career, is leading from the front. Excellent from him. He though holds the key for his side. He gets there by flicking this through square leg for two. A loud cheer from the crowd for their skipper.
  • Shakib pulls out at the very end. Maybe he was not ready there.
  • 14.4 Looks to bowl a slower one but this one is bowled down the leg side. He looks to flick but misses. Wided.
  • 14.3 This is around off and it is angling away. Afif guides it down to third man for one. Gives strike to the man on 49.
  • Afif Hossain is the new batsman in.
  • 14.2 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Sabbir's return into the team is not a good one. Two wickets in quick succession and Afghanistan are fighting back into the game. The debutant is making a mark for himself here. It is his second and this is an important one as Sabbir, on his day, could be dangerous. A poor shot to be honest. This is bowled just outside off, not a lot of room on offer. Sabbir looks to guide it down to third man but only manages an outside edge to the keeper. 43 in 34 needed. Game on!
  • 14.1 Shorter and on middle, Shakib hops and pulls it through mid-wicket for one.
  • 13.6 Almost another one. This one is on off, Slightly short but not wide enough to cut. Shakib looks to do so but gets an under edge to it and the ball just goes over the stumps. Lucky not to get it on the stumps. Superb over from the skipper. 95/4
  • 13.5 On the pads, Rahman works it towards mid-wicket for a single to get off the mark.
  • Sabbir Rahman is the new batsman in.
  • 13.4 OUT! LBW! Rashid strikes! He didn't take too long to do that. He is limping as he celebrates the wicket. What a champion bowler. He is not worried about his own pain though. And he would want to take a few more to help his side win this one. Rashid darts this fuller on middle, Mahmudullah goes to reverse sweep but can't connect and is hit on the front pad. Rashid roars an appeal and the umpire agrees instantly. Mahmudullah asks his skipper about the DRS and then the duo decide against it. A good call from them as the replays show that the ball was hitting the timber.
  • 13.3 Darts one wide outside off as he sees Shakib going towards the leg side. He manages to get bat on it and the ball goes towards the off side for a single.
  • 13.2 Quicker one on the pads this time, tucked towards mid-wicket for a single.
  • 13.1 Beaten! What a ball that one. Turned away from the batter as he looks to block. The ball goes past the outside edge.
  • 13.1 WIDE! Starts with one down the leg side. Called wide as Mahmudullah misses his flick down the leg side.
  • Here comes the skipper! He is still limping but this should not hamper his bowling. He is inspiring his team here.
  • 12.6 FOUR! Smashed! Janat goes short again and on middle, Shakib stays leg side of the delivery and smashes it past the bowler for a boundary. He is winning the game for his side single-handedly here. 90/3
  • 12.5 Needless, very needless from Afghanistan, maybe they are just getting frustrated. This is short and on the body, it skids through. Shakib is a touch late in the shot. It goes towards mid off and the batters take one. The fielder has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses. No one backing up and the ball rolls towards fine leg. Another run taken.
  • There is a slight hold up in the game for some mysterious reason. Maybe a Drinks break. Wait, it is because there is some power issue with one of the floodlight. Let's hope the issue is resolved as soon as possible. Finally, the lights are back on and we are ready to go.
  • 12.4 NOT OUT! Umpire's call it is! It is clipping the leg pole. Afghanistan do not lose a review. Not a bad review to be honest, yes, it was more in hope as it always seemed like it is going down leg. This one is full and on the pads, Shakib looks to flick but fails to put bat on ball. It flicks the pads and goes to the keeper. An appeal follows but the umpire shakes his head. The keeper and the bowler wants it to be reviewed and Afghanistan do so. Replays roll in and they show that the on-field call is the right one. Afghanistan are desperate for the wicket of Shakib. They somehow need to get him or he would take the game away from them. 55 needed in 44.
  • Review for LBW taken upstairs by Afghanistan as Shakib has been given not out. It looks close if it is pad first. Maybe going down the leg side.
  • 12.4 WIDE! Shakib looks to paddle once again but this one is down the leg side. Wided.
  • 12.3 Well bowled! Shakib makes room and the bowler follows him with a short slower one. Shakib is early into the pull, he gets a bottom edge to the keeper.
  • 12.2 FOUR! Innovation at its best! Shakib comes inside the line and looks to paddle. He is helped by the bowler as this one is bowled on his pads. Shakib just helps it over short fine leg and bags a boundary.
  • 12.1 Slower one outside off, Mahmudullah guides it through backward point for one.
  • 11.6 Mahmudullah plays the paddle scoop towards short fine leg for one. 78/3
  • 11.5 Shorter and outside off, it is cut through point for one.
  • 11.4 Shorter and outside off, it is slapped through covers for one.
  • 11.3 Slightly short and outside off, Shakib picks the length early and pulls it through mid-wicket for one.
  • 11.2 Flatter and on middle, it is worked through square leg for one.
  • 11.1 Shakib comes down the track and hits it down to long on for one.
  • He is back and is ready to bowl too! The umpire though asks him to wait as he was out for a few overs and he can't be bowling straightaway. Still though, it is great for Afghanistan that it is nothing serious. Nabi on the other hand, will continue.
  • Rashid Khan is seen rolling his arm on the sidelines. Does that mean he is going to come on? We will have to wait to find out. Afghanistan will be hoping so.
  • 10.6 On the pads on a fullish length, worked towards square leg for a single. 72/3
  • 10.5 Fuller one around off, Mahmudullah drives it through covers for a single to get off the mark.
  • Mahmudullah is the new batsman in.
  • 10.4 OUT! Rahim is disappointed and he should be as he has thrown it away. This was not needed. He already had a six in the over. Good length ball around off, Rahim drags his pull from outside off but can't connect it well. No distance on this one as Shafiqullah pouches this easily at deep mid-wicket. A timely wicket for Afghanistan.
  • 10.3 Good bouncer as this hurries Shakib. It goes towards deep square leg for a run.
  • 10.2 Length ball outside off, taps it towards point for a run.
  • 10.1 SIX! That went high in the air but over the fence. This is full on the pads, Rahim slogs it over the square leg fence.
  • Karim Janat is back on! 9 from his first over.
  • 9.6 50-run stand up between the two! Vital one as they joined association when Bangladesh were in trouble. They have taken their side on top now. Rahim eases this through mid on for one to get to that milestone. 62/2
  • 9.5 A couple now! Shorter and outside off, this is cut through point away from the sweeper for two.
  • 9.4 In the air... dropped! Tarakai, the sub, has dropped a sitter. A bad, bad moment for him, probably a chance for someone who is not playing in the XI to make a contribution and Tarakai does not grab that opportunity, Big let off for Rahim and this could prove costly. Also, the visitors needed a wicket, a chance is produced but it is not grabbed. The shot though can be questioned here. What was Rahim doing? Having got 6 from the first three balls, something fancy need not be done. He though still comes down the track but fails to get to the pitch of it. He tries to go over mid-wicket but gets a top edge which goes high up in the air towards deep mid-wicket where Tarakai spills it. Two taken by the batters.
  • 9.3 The batsman has driven it through mid on. One run added to the total.
  • 9.2 FOUR! Three in three for Shakib! He hits another one straight down the ground. One of the safest shots in the game. He uses his feet but does not get to the pitch of the ball. He still goes ahead with the shot and hits it down the ground for a boundary.
  • 9.1 Slower through the air outside off, Rahim looks to play the reverse sweep but it goes off the glove to the off side and a single is taken.
  • 8.6 FOUR! Another one! Good length ball again, Shakib backs away again and slaps it through the covers. 50 up for the hosts with the boundary. 11 from the over. 51/2

  • 8.4 Good length ball around off, guided towards third man for a single.
  • 8.3 A slower one around off, Rahim tucks it towards mid-wicket and takes a run. Sloppy work from the fielder means they have got an extra run off an overthrow.
  • 8.2 Short ball outside off, Rahim finds the point fielder to his cut.
  • 8.1 Good length ball around off, Rahim blocks it towards cover.
  • 7.6 The batsman has punched the ball off the back foot. They pick up a single. 7 runs from Nabi's first with no risk taken by the batters. 40/2
  • Rashid is seen walking off the field. He shakes his head as he heads into the dugout. That might mean he may not take part in this match anymore.
  • 7.5 A couple but more importantly Rashid seems to have pulled his hamstring. Worrying signs for Afghanistan. What happened was, Rahim looks to flick but closes the face of the bat early. It goes off the leading edge uppishly but wide of the fielder at mid-wicket. Rashid hares after it but just as he gets closer to the ball, he clutches his back part of the thigh and goes down. In the meantime the batters take two. Rashid looks in a lot of pain.
  • 7.4 Another single! Nabi slows this up and floats it on middle, Shakib Al Hasan eases it down to long on and takes one.

  • 6.2 Good length ball on middle, worked towards long on for a single from Shakib.
  • 6.1 Good length ball around off, Mushfiqur guides it towards third man for a single.
  • Gulbadin Naib to bowl now.
  • 5.6 FOUR! One brings two and that is exactly the case here. This time there is width on offer and Shakib pounces on it. He hits it on the up and creams it through covers for another boundary. The last two balls spoils the over, 10 from it. A good end to the Powerplay for Bangladesh but it is Afghanistan who will be happier of the two sides. Bangladesh are 28 for 2. They need another 111 in 84 balls. 28/2
  • 5.5 FOUR! First boundary of the innings and it comes on the 35th ball. Releases a little pressure. This is full and on off, Shakib goes through the line, hits it uppishly but wide of mid off and it goes to the fence.

  • 4.1 Shakib comes down the track but does not get to the pitch of the ball. He hits it towards mid on for one.
  • 3.6 Closer to the off pole, Rahim blocks it towards the off side. No boundary till now from the Bangladeshi batters in this innings. 15/2
  • 3.5 DROPPED! But what an effort that one from Shafiqullah! A fuller ball around off, Shakib drives it nicely over the cover fielder. Shafiqullah leaps in the air and throws his right hand at the ball. The ball sticks in and then pops out. He makes another attempt as he lands on his back and almost takes it. They get a single.

  • 3.3 Fuller ball on the pads, Shakib looks to work it down the leg side but gets an inside edge onto the pads. Shakib wants a run. The bowler gets to the ball and has a shy at the non-striker's end. But the batsmen get a run with ease.
  • Mushfiqur Rahim is the new man in.
  • 3.2 OUT! First T20I wicket for Naveen. A slower ball around middle and Shanto was deceived because of the lack of pace. Shanto looks to flick but can't get any timing. The ball lobs high in the air towards mid-wicket where Rashid takes it easily. Early trouble for the hosts.

  • 2.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Mujeeb is the man to draw first blood. He has been remarkable in the Powerplay. Liton looks to go downtown but fails to time it and gets a top edge which goes towards mid off and Asghar Afghan takes a good catch. This is what Afghanistan would have wanted after posting a low score.
