  • The pitch appears to a be true one for batting and Bangladesh will be backing themselves to scale down this target. However, the Afghan bowling has a lot of class and they will try their best to restrict the home side. Who will succeed? Do join us in a short while to find out.
  • Afghan is down for an interview. On asked about the first six overs, he says they were poor for them as they played rash shots to get out. On Nabi's performance, Afghan replies that Nabi is the senior player and he has done justice with that responsibility. On him getting out on a no ball, Afghan smiles and states that he was lucky there. Believes that the total is good enough and that they can defend it.
  • 42 runs in the last 3 overs and Afghanistan have got a big finish! They were in an early spot of bother after losing four wickets inside the Powerplay but then the 79-run stand between Nabi and Afghan did the rescue job. Their partnership deflated the Bangladesh bowlers and they went haywire. Runs started to come at a brisk rate and Afghanistan managed to run away with a strong total on the board. Mohammad Saifuddin and Shakib Al Hasan were the standout bowlers while Mustafizur Rahman was very tidy. The rest didn't manage to leave the same impact though.
  • 19.6 DROPPED! Fullish and around off, Janat has to go for it and tries powering it down the ground. But he fails to get any timing on it and the ball skies up towards mid on. Mustafizur runs back to take the catch but fails to hold on. The batsmen take a run and AFGHANISTAN END ON 164/6!
  • 19.5 Short in length on middle, this time Nabi gets bat on ball and pulls it to deep square leg for a single.
  • 19.4 This is spectacular bowling. Slower cutter, on the shorter side around leg, Nabi swings his bat but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
  • 19.3 The Fizz bowls another clever delivery. Short and on middle and leg, a slower one, Nabi mistimes his shot towards mid off. Turns down the single.
  • 19.2 Short in length and outside off, Karim slaps it to backward point and scampers to the other end. Nabi is back on strike. 17 runs needed and 4 balls left, can Nabi do it and get his century?
  • 19.1 Swing and a miss! Clever slower one by the Fizz. It's short and around middle, cutting away, Janat is early into the swing of his bat and misses.
  • 18.6 SIX! In the slot and Nabi takes full toll of it. Into the 80s is Nabi with this massive six. Nabi clears front leg and lifts it straight over the long off fence. Some hammering this for Saifuddin, the star bowler of the evening for the hosts. 161/6
  • 18.5 Fuller one on off this time, worked towards mid off for a quick single.
  • 18.4 Good length ball around off, Nabi finds the long off fielder on bounce with his uppish drive.
  • 18.3 Good comeback! Bowls a superb yorker. Nabi can't do much about it as he looks to jam it out but can't get bat on ball.
  • 18.2 SIX! Nabi is in some mood. He isn't deceived by the slower ball. Reads it well and lifts it over the long on fence.
  • 18.1 Fuller one around off, Nabi mistimes the shot and the ball goes towards long on. It should've been just a single but Nabi is quick to get back for a couple He wants to keep the strike.
  • 18.1 Good length around off, Nabi looks to heave it over the long off fence but is beaten. He gets a free hit next up as Saifuddin has overstepped.
  • 17.6 Slower short ball on off, Nabi pulls it down to long on and retains strike with a single. 22 from the over, a humongous one! 144/6
  • 17.5 FOUR! Sarkar has completely lost the plot here. Short in length and outside off, Nabi gets on top of the bounce and smashes it over backward point for a cracking boundary.
  • 17.4 SIX! Nabi is on fire! A pitched up ball around off, Nabi found that in his hitting zone and clobbers it over long on for a biggie.
  • 17.3 FOUR! Sarkar misses his mark there. Tries a yorker but it's down the leg side, Nabi gets a fine tickle on it and the ball races away to the fine leg fence.
  • 17.2 SIX! Out of here! Nabi fetches a short delivery from wide outside off and hammers it over cow corner for a maximum.
  • 17.1 Goes on the back foot and punches it past extra cover for a run.
  • 16.6 The short of length delivery has been cut away through square on the off side. The batsmen have run through for a single. Two wickets and just one run. Sensational stuff from Saifuddin. 122/6
  • 16.5 OUT! Stumps shattered and Saifuddin is on fire! He hurls in a length ball around off, shaping back in, Naib stays back to heave it across the line but misses the ball completely. The stumps are disturbed and Afghanistan lose their sixth wicket.

  • 16.3 Shortish and on middle, pulled down to fine leg for one.

  • Gulbadin Naib walks in next. He can certainly tonk a few.
  • 16.2 OUT! A 3-wicket haul for Saifuddin, this is now his best bowling figures in T20Is. A knuckle delivery, on a length outside off, Afghan aims for a big shot down the ground but fails to middle his shot properly. Completely deceived by the variation and gets more height than distance. A simple catch for Sabbir after coming in a bit from long on. The 79-run stand has been broken and it's a timely breakthrough for Bangladesh.
  • 16.1 Gets away with a bad one! Full toss on middle and leg, Asghar swings and misses to get hit on the pads.
  • Mohammad Saifuddin is back to bowl at the death. He was brilliant in the Powerplay where he picked up a couple of wickets.

  • 15.5 Edgy! Slower short delivery wide outside off, angling away, Asghar throws his bat at it and bottom edges it again. It falls short of Rahim who parries it to short third man. They cross.

  • 15.3 A well-directed short ball, Nabi bends a bit and helps his pull to long leg for a run.

  • 14.1 Goes on the back foot and punches it back past the bowler. Only a run from the Free Hit.
  • 14.1 Afghan departs! Or has he? They're checking the front foot no ball and it looks like this is a no ball. Yes! Wicket on a no ball which means Afghan will face a Free Hit delivery now. Darts one on middle, Afghan dances down the track and lifts it high in the air. The timing is not proper and the deep mid-wicket fielder pouches it. But in the end, it doesn't matter as Taijul has overstepped.
  • Taijul returns into the attack.
  • 13.6 Play and a miss! Flighted ball around off, Nabi looks to drive it by staying in the crease but the away spin means he can't get bat on ball. A very tight over this from Mahmudullah. 93/4
  • 13.5 Quicker one around middle, pushed back to the bowler.
  • 13.4 Fuller on the pads, tucked towards mid on for a single this time.

  • 13.2 On the pads this time, pushed through mid-wicket gently for a single. Wanted a couple but the deep fielder did well to keep it to one.

  • 10.2 A flatter one, short and on off, it's punched back to the off side and the bowler makes a stop.

  • 9.5 Fuller around off, looks to guide through third man but finds the fielder.
  • 9.5 Good thinking from Soumya but the umpire calls it a wide. Sarkar saw Afghan advancing and banged one short outside off. Asghar is too far down the track and can't do anything but allow the ball to go to the keeper. Mushfiqur behind the wickets can't gather it cleanly and allows a bye. However, it was too high and called a wide. Good decision from the umpire.
  • 9.4 Good length ball outside off, pushed through point for a single.

  • 9.2 Slightly fuller around off, Afghan taps it towards point and takes a quick run.
  • 9.1 Down the leg side, Afghan tucks it towards short fine leg. He calls for a single but is sent back. Good call as Mustafizur fires a throw at the striker's end and Afghan just about plonks his bat in at the last moment! It is referred upstairs and replays confirm.
  • Soumya Sarkar into the attack now.
  • 8.6 Full and around off, watchfully blocked out. 51/4

  • Mohammad Nabi walks in next with Afghanistan reeling.
  • 5.5 OUT! Afghanistan lose their fourth wicket inside the Powerplay. Shakib picks a wicket with an arm ball now. He dishes it out wide outside off and Zadran has to reach out for it in order to play his big shot. He does so but fails to hit it from the sweet spot. The ball gathers the lower half of his bat and balloons towards mid off. Sarkar runs back and grabs the skier safely. No heroics from Zadran today.
  • 5.4 On middle, helped on the leg side but not in the gap.
  • 5.3 FOUR! Connects and connects well. Arm ball again, it's on the pads and Najibullah bisects the two fielders square on the leg side for a boundary. Nothing that short fine leg or square leg could do.

  • 1.1 FOUR BYES! That missed everything. Shakib delivers an arm ball around middle and it skids on after pitching. Tarakai tries to heave it over the leg side but misses. • 0.6 Fullish and on off, it's forced down the ground to long on for a run. End of a fine first over by Saifuddin. 5/1
  • Third man comes up, mid on drops back...

  • 0.4 Saifuddin eyes a yorker but ends up serving a low full toss on middle and off, Zazai works it in front of square leg for a run.

  • 0.2 Lovely shot! Fuller in length and around off, Najeeb heaves it over mid-wicket and collects a couple of runs to open his and Afghanistan's account. Sabbir with a nice footwork stopped the ball near the fence.
  • Najeeb Tarakai is the new batsman.
  • 0.1 OUT! Off stump goes for an early walk! What a splendid delivery first up by Saifuddin. He hurls in a length ball in the line of the stumps and gets it to nip away a shade. Gurbaz is on the back foot attempting to work it around but is beaten by the movement. The off stump goes cartwheeling and the Bangla crowd lets out a big roar. Perfect start!
  • We're all in readiness to get underway. Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are the Afghan openers. They took Afghanistan to a flying start yesterday and would like to repeat the good work again. Mohammad Saifuddin to kick off proceedings. A slip in place along with a short third man. Here we go...
  • Bangladesh skipper, Shakib Al Hasan wanted to bat first but now want to bowl well and restrict Afghanistan. Adds that they have taken a lot of confidence from the last game but is aware of the challenge that Afghanistan brings. Praises Afif for his knock and wants the batters to take more responsibility. No change in the XI, he informs.
  • Afghanistan skipper, Rashid Khan says that his batting department is looking in great form and is hoping for a similar performance today as well. Tells that they take one game at a time and will give their 100 percent. Feels that they have enough ability in the team and have the batsmen who can hit big. Wants to keep the focus and do the right thing at the right time. Informs that they are going unchanged.
  • Pitch report - The pitch looks really good, very similar to the last night. It has a bit of grass cover on the top and it's really hard underneath. A few cracks as well to keep the spinners interested.
  • Bangladesh (Unchanged Playing XI) - Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan(C), Mushfiqur Rahim(WK), Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman.
  • Afghanistan (Unchanged Playing XI) - Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmanullah Gurbaz(WK), Najeeb Tarakai, Najibullah Zadran, Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan(C), Karim Janat, Fareed Ahmed, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
  • TOSS - Rashid Khan has won the coin-flip and AFGHANISTAN WILL BAT! Something different from a captain. So far, in the last two games, teams have preferred chasing. Anyway, the Afghans put up a strong batting show last time and are once again banking on their batters. Bangladesh won't mind chasing again. They would have drawn a lot of confidence from a close chase against Zimbabwe. BOTH TEAMS ARE UNCHANGED!
  • Hello, folks. This tri-series is moving at a rapid rate and so far it has been expected results. Zimbabwe have got beaten by both Bangladesh and Afghanistan, however, the Rhodesians presented a stiff competition in front of the home team. Now, it's time for the big clash, clash of the favourites. The Afghans are on a high post their Test triumph and then eased past the African minnow in their first game. They have a nicely balanced squad filled with multiple utility T20 players while the Bangla Tigers own a more experienced squad. On current form and momentum, Afghanistan seem to be holding the edge but a hurt Bangladesh would like to send across a strong message with a thumping win. Expect a cracker!

Bangladesh Vs Afghanistan Live Score (T20) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • That's all we have from this match! We look forward to your company on Wednesday, 18th September, for the 4th match of the tri-series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Do join us at 1830 local (1230 GMT) for all the action. Cheers!
  • Afghanistan skipper, Rashid Khan starts by saying that they recovered quite well after a sorry start. Praises the senior batsmen, Afghan and Nabi for taking the responsibility. Lauds the bowling of Mujeeb and tells that he bowled well in the last match as well but in this one, he was more accurate and hard to hit. He is happy to win the fourth game in a row against Bangladesh. Wants his team to take this momentum forward. Thanks the crowd for all the support before signing off.
  • MAN OF THE MATCH, MOHAMMAD NABI! He says that was a brilliant effort from his team. Adds that there was tension in the dressing room when they lost 4 early wickets. On asked about their decision of batting first, Nabi replies that the wicket looked good for batting and hence the decision. On his retirement from Tests, Nabi replies that he wants the youngsters to stand up in the red ball cricket as he wants to concentrate in the shorter formats. Smiles and cheekily complains that his skipper just gave him two overs but he is a happy man as the side has won the game.
  • Bangladesh skipper, Shakib Al Hasan says that they were brilliant in the first 10 overs with the ball. Admits that Afghanistan scored too many runs in the next 10 which cost them. Feels that they didn't bat well. Reminds about the no ball on which Asghar Afghan was dismissed and mentions that it changed the momentum. Tells that they wanted to be positive today but the result didn't go their way. Wants his team to cut down on extras.
  • Afghanistan bowled and fielding brilliantly. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the star for them, picking four wickets and also getting his best bowling figures in T20Is. Rashid Khan and Gulbadin Naib also played their roles effectively and altogether it was a good team effort by them. Presentation coming up...
  • This match started on a wrong note for Afghanistan. They lost their first wicket on the very first ball of the match and were reduced to 41/4 in the Powerplay. But the fabulous knock by Mohammad Nabi coupled with his 79-run stand with Asghar Afghan took their total to a challenging 164. In defense, they returned the favour to Bangladesh by dismissing their four wickets inside the first six overs and the hosts never really recovered after that. There was a partnership between Mahmudullah and Sabbir Rahman but that didn't take care of the asking rate much and eventually it was a task too big for the batsmen to follow.
  • A commanding performance by Afghanistan! They have once again got the better of Bangladesh and are quickly becoming a thorn in their flesh. This is now the 12th consecutive T20I win for the Afghans, the longest winning streak for ant ream in Men's T20I cricket, surpassing their own streak of 11 matches that they achieved between years 2016 and 2017. Also, they have now won each of their last 21 T20I match in Asia. What dominance!
  • 19.5 OUT! AFGHANISTAN WIN BY 25 RUNS! Fareed has the last laugh in this battle. Once again he provides width outside off, Rahman rocks back and whacks it through the line. It's aerial and travels like a rocket but straight into the hands of Shafiq (sub) at sweeper cover. All over, a brilliant win for the Afghans.
  • 19.4 FOUR! Rahman is on fire! He is connecting his shots quite well. Maybe, needs a promotion in the batting order. A length delivery outside off, Mustafizur skips down the track and smacks it over extra cover. The fielder runs behind but the ball wins the race.
  • 19.3 FOUR! Connects and connects well. Another short ball by Ahmad, Rahman gets on top of the bounce and pulls it in the gap between deep mid-wicket and deep square leg. Boundaries are coming too late for Bangladesh.
  • 19.2 Slower short one this time, Rahman swings and misses.
  • 19.1 SIX! Boom! Short in length and angling into the batsman, Rahman hangs on the back foot and pummels it over wide long on for a biggie.

  • 18.5 Shortish and on middle, pulled in front of square leg for a run.
  • 18.4 Shout for an lbw! Not given. Loopy delivery, landing on leg and spinning in, Rahman tries to heave it over the leg side but misses. He is pinged on the front leg, they appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Afghanistan don't have any review left. The replays later on shows that it was hitting leg.
  • Mustafizur Rahman, the last man for the hosts is in.
  • 18.3 OUT! Bowled 'em! Rashid dishes out a flighted googly. He lands it full and outside off, Mosaddek is early into his attempted slog sweep and hence misses the ball completely. The ball though doesn't misses the stumps. End is nigh for Bangladesh.
