  • Okay then. Time for some break. I badly need some coffee. Australia have got some score on the board. The pitch looks flat but there is bounce. Not much turn. 232 should not be too much of a headache of a chase but if the Aussies can get de Kock and du Plessis before the score touches 100, well, you never know... Join us back at 6.05 pm local (0735 GMT).
  • Time for a Chris Lynn interview. The Australian T20 star admits that the batting display is very disappointing as the batsmen could not convert their starts. Feels that the Aussies are 50 runs short but also hopes that his team has a good bowling attack and wants them to start well. On getting dismissed by Rabada, Chris says that he tried to get the wood over the Protea but unfortunately could not. On the send-off, Lynn is not too perturbed and puts it down to part and parcel of the game. Adds further that if Rabada does come out to bat, then Starc and Hazlewood will remind him in their style though.
  • Dwaine Pretorius feels that the South African bowlers bowled pretty well, adjusting to the lines and lengths. On making it to the World Cup squad, Pretorius says that one just needs to perform and the other things can take care of themselves. On his knee injury, Dwaine recounts it as a very tough experience and feared that his cricketing career would be over. Is happy that he is fit now and can play.
  • When you pick 5 bowlers in your side, your bowling needs to perform. And it did again, for South Africa. Dale Steyn did not strike early on but was economical. Lungi Ngidi had a bad outing and for a second, it seemed like Kagiso Rabada would too, but he came back strongly to finish with a 4-fer. However, the pick of the bowlers was Dwaine Pretorius, who ran through the middle order, getting Finch, Maxwell and Stoinis, leaving Australia with no power hitters at the death. Here he is, having a chat.
  • Same old story for Australia. None of the openers batting long and no one from the middle order gutsing it out. Alex Carey tried to do that today but he got run out of partners. All the batsmen were trying to bash the ball almost every time, trying to get to 300 or 350 and have fallen well short.
  • Then, came a period where Lynn cut loose. He smashed Kagiso Rabada for 18 runs in 4 balls but eventually, the latter had his revenge. That, was the turning point. Australia slipped from 133/3 to 170/6 and kept on losing momentum, before the last-wicket pair gave some respect to the total.
  • Well, that is some sort of a recovery from the Aussie tail but they are at least 30-40 runs short. The partnership between Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch seemed to be showing control and then Finch and Lynn showed patience. But, the middle order gave it away.
  • 48.3 OUT! Australia have not managed to play their full quota of 50 overs again. Rabada gets his fourth wicket. Bowls a short of a length delivery, Zampa backs away but the bowler follows him, cramping him for room. The Aussie tries to pull but gets a top edge on this one. The ball goes high in the air and Miller takes the catch at short mid-wicket. Australia bowled out for 231.
  • 48.2 Length delivery on leg stump, Hazlewood pushes it towards mid-wicket. The batsmen take a single.
  • 48.1 Bowls full on off stump, Josh plays it towards point.
  • 47.6 Full and wide outside off, AZ slashes hard but misses. He expects a wide call and rightly so, but it is not given. That went past the line. 230/9
  • 47.5 A high full toss outside off, Adam slashes but misses.
  • 47.4 Short ball, around middle, Hazlewood ramps it over the keeper. Imran Tahir is stationed at very fine third man but he comes in pretty late and cannot get to the ball. It lands in front. A single taken. Ngidi is not happy with that effort.

  • 45.6 Short and outside off, Adam arches back and ramps it over point. The ball almost makes it to the ropes but Heinrich Klaasen gives it a good chase from sweeper cover to his left, dives to his left and stops the ball. 3 runs taken. 16 from the over! 223/9
  • 45.5 FOUR! A little bit of loose bowling. Down the leg side, flicked over square leg for consecutive boundaries.
  • 45.4 FOUR! Not a bad shot. A length ball outside off, Zampa lofts it over cover and gets a boundary!
  • 45.3 Outside off, Josh looks to cut but gets a bottom edge towards point. Kagiso Rabada has a needless shy at the striker's end but misses. A single taken off the overthrow.
  • 45.2 MISFIELD, FOUR! Well, that is a surprise. Short and outside off, Hazlewood slaps it over cover, straight to the man over there, Dale Steyn. However, he takes it lightly and the ball goes through his legs.
  • 45.1 Around off, defended from the crease.
  • 44.6 Bowls a bouncer, Adam ducks under it. 207/9

  • 43.1 Full and outside off, driven straight to cover.

  • Adam Zampa walks in at number 10, replacing Starc.
  • 40.5 OUT! Caught and bowled! 8th wicket down for Australia. Steyn has his second in as many overs. Bowls a slow bouncer outside off stump, Starc wanted to defend but the ball bounced suddenly and he cannot do anything. Gets a top edge which goes straight up in the air and the bowler takes a simple catch.
  • 40.4 Length delivery on middle stump, Mitchell plays it towards mid off.
  • 40.3 Bowls a length delivery on middle stump, Starc defends on the back foot.
  • 40.2 FOUR! Powerful shot from Carey! Steyn bowls it full outside off stump, Alex drives it towards covers for a boundary.
  • 40.1 Bowls slower on off stump, Carey cuts it towards third man. The batsmen take a single.
  • POWERPLAY 3 TIME. Will Australia be able to bat out the remaining 10 overs? Five fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle now, though doubt Faf du Plessis will keep many outside.
  • 39.6 Full and around off, swept powerfully towards deep mid-wicket for a single. A very fruitful Powerplay 2 for the Saffas - 6 wickets for 124 runs in 30 overs. 182/7

  • 39.2 On middle and leg, flicked towards short mid-wicket.
  • 39.1 Starts with a wrong 'un, short in length, punched towards cover. Starc takes off slowly while Dale Steyn charges onto the ball from point. Gets to it, picks the ball up and then has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Starc was a goner.

  • Mitchell Starc comes in at number 9, replacing Cummins.
  • 38.3 OUT! BOWLED! Cummins is gone too. Drags it onto his stumps. That target of 200 is still on. Only, that is for the Saffas, not for the Aussies. Fast and fiery from Steyn, 145.5 kph, it is landed on a length, but Cummins is not sure whether to come forward or play it from his crease. He does neither and goes half-heartedly at it. Is late, gets beaten by pace and the ball trickles off the under edge onto the off stump.

  • 35.6 On middle and leg, helped through square leg for a run. 172/6
  • 35.5 Huge appeal for LBW, but turned down. Probably there was a nick. Yes, Snickometer confirms. A length ball, around off, Alex looks to flick but gets hit on the pads. The ball lobs in the air but Pretorius is more interested in the LBW appeal than the catch. Had he gone for the catch first and then appealed, would have got a caught and bowled.
  • 35.4 Down the leg side, helped through square leg for a single.
  • 35.3 Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
  • Time for the bowlers to have a net session with the bat. Pat Cummins is the first of them.
  • 35.2 OUT! Another one goes! The wickets just keep tumbling and Pretorius has his third wicket in the space of 25 balls. A length ball, around off, Stoinis looks to pull but is done in by the length, That was not there for the pull. He though, goes through with the shot and mistimes it. • 33.4 Full and outside off, pushed straight to cover.
  • 33.3 Around off, defended from the crease.
  • DRINKS ARE ON THE FIELD NOW. Marcus Stoinis joins Carey in the middle.
  • 33.2 OUT! Caught behind! There comes the brash shot. And the Big Show is gone for a small display. Short and outside off, Maxwell flashes hard for the cut. And edges it behind. No, it is not a bad shot on a good ball. Just that Maxi went way too early. Pretorius smartly bowled a slower delivery and that consumed Maxwell. Caught behind by de Kock. An innings beginning to blossom has been cut short again.

  • 26.5 OUT! Rabada has the last laugh! Bowls another bouncer, Lynn wanted to go towards square leg but does not get the pull shot right and he gets a glove behind to the keeper. Good catch by Quinton de Kock. Lynn was cramped by pace and bounce there.
  • 26.4 FOUR! It is raining boundaries for Chris Lynn! Short of a length delivery, Chris pulls it towards mid-wicket for another boundary!
  • 26.3 FOUR! Great Shot! Bowls short on off stump, Lynn makes room and plays the cut towards point for a boundary.
  • 26.2 FOUR! Poor bowling from Rabada! Bowls short again, Lynn bludgeons it straight at the non-striker. Carey ducks and the ball races down to the fence.

  • 25.3 Floated outside off, driven wide of long off for a single.
  • 25.2 Backs away to the leg side, Tahir follows him and Chris can only bash it back to the bowler who tumbles, stumbles, fumbles but eventually stops it to his left...

  • 17.1 Full on middle, flicked towards short mid-wicket.
  • Oops... Tahir had almost come to the point of release and Finch backed away at the last moment. Probably sightscreen issues. Tahir could not stop the ball though and let it go. A googly it was, pitched on off and spinning past the leg stump. But... a dead ball.

  • 14.3 FOUR! GORGEOUS! Who remembers the previous ball? Certainly not Finch! Full and outside off, Aaron drives it straight back. The bowler tries to get out of the way, which is a smart thing and the ball races down to the fence!
  • 14.2 NOT OUT! Impact is umpire's call! The Australian skipper heaves a huge sigh of relief. Tell you, that was very, very close. On a length outside off, coming back in, Finch looked to defend and the ball went to point. Pretorius appealed but the umpire turned it down. The bowler was confident that the ball hit the pad first and skipper Faf du Plessis went with his young bloke. Review time. Hawk Eye shows the impact to be very, very marginal! To the naked eye, in the replays, without Hawk Eye, that looked to be hitting in line...
  • Okay... what do we have here? Pretorius reckons that he has Finch LBW and Faf has taken the review. Looks close. Where is the impact?
  • 14.1 Outside off, played straight to point.
  • Dwaine Pretorius to bowl now.

  • Chris Lynn comes in at number 4, replacing Marsh.
  • 11.5 OUT! Caught behind! Rabada has broken through. Australia were just starting to put pressure on South Africa and the young bloke has just reversed it. On a length outside off, Marsh looks to push at that but there is extra bounce on the ball. As a result, an outside edge is induced which is taken by Quinton de Kock. Needless to say, Kagiso is pumped up. The 54-run stand is broken.

  • 7.4 UPPISH, BUT SAFE! Finch continues to live dangerously. This is short in length, outside off, but not that wide. The skipper tries to cut but is cramped for room and nearly spoons it towards point. Luckily for him, it evades the fielder over there and goes behind point. Two runs taken.

  • 3.5 Full and outside off, Marsh looks to drive but gets an outside edge which goes along the ground past second slip towards third man. Two runs taken.
  • 3.4 Full on middle, watchfully defended.
  • 3.3 Outside off, left alone.
  • 3.2 OUT! LBW! That is the plumbest of LBWs one would get. Waste, total waste from Head and Finch. Full and around off, swinging in, Travis looks to flick but misses it, falling over in the process and getting hit on the pads. Ngidi almost does not appeal at all and starts to celebrate, because it was that plumb. Still, for formalities, he starts to appeal. The umpire raises his finger immediately. Head walks across to Finch and then decides to review but Hawk Eye proves him to be totally wrong. Finch has not been the best when it comes to reviews. Did not review one in Perth when he should have and now, agreed with Head to review one when he should have let it be. Early strike again for South Africa.
  • South Africa are tightening their lines and lengths. They were a bit awry in the first 2 overs but they are learning now.
  • Travis Head has been adjudged LBW! He has taken the review though. Looks dead plumb. Unless, the impact is outside off.

  • 1.5 RUN OUT CHANCE MISSED! Ohh... David Miller nearly pulled off another one, like he did at the WACA. Finch worked this towards mid-wicket and set off for a quick single. David Miller charged on to the ball from short mid-wicket and then had an under-arm flick at the bowler's end, only to miss. The Aussie skipper was a goner.
  • 1.4 Down the leg side, Travis misses his tuck and the ball goes off his pads through fine leg. A leg bye taken.
  • 1.3 Full and outside off, driven towards mid off.
  • 1.2 Outside off, left alone.

  • Lungi Ngidi to bowl with the second new ball.
  • 0.6 Full on off stump, the batsmen drives it towards covers. 2/0
  • 0.5 HUGE APPEAL FOR LBW FROM THE BOWLER! Good length delivery into middle stump, Aaron gets hit on the pads but umpire shakes his head. Probably height was the issue.
  • 0.4 Full and outside off, AF looks to drive but the ball goes off the outside edge, past second slip, towards third man. Two runs taken to get Australia underway.
  • 0.3 Bowls short outside off stump, Aaron lets it go.
  • 0.2 Bowls on a good length, Finch hits it straight towards the bowler.

  • TEAM CHANGES - Australia have made two changes to their side - Shaun Marsh and Adam Zampa come in place of D'Arcy Short and Nathan Coulter-Nile. South Africa have made one change - Dwayne Pretorius replaces Andile Phehlukwayo.
  • Toss - South Africa have won the toss and chosen to field first. So once again, the Aussie batsmen will be under pressure to put a huge total on board.
  • Hello and a warm welcome to the 2nd ODI between Australia and South Africa in Adelaide. The visitors would be looking to finish the series today by winning this match. On the other hand, the Kangaroos would look to end their losing rut, having lost 7 ODIs in a row. Interestingly, the last ODI which Australia won, was at the Adelaide Oval itself, earlier this year against England. The Proteas' bowling is again going to be the talking point in this match. The hosts would be looking to improve their batting and score big if they are put in to bat first. Hopefully, we get a contest.

Australia Vs South Africa Live Score (ODI) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • 26 January 2018 - the last time Australia won an ODI at the Adelaide Oval. 9th November 2018 - Australia break their 7-match losing streak. Both games happened at the Adelaide Oval. Can Australia build on this win? Or will South Africa show their ruthlessness in the series decider? These two teams have played each other only once at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart - way back in 2009. The Aussies won that by 5 runs. Join us on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 1.50 pm local (0250 GMT) to find out who wins the series. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • VICTORIOUS AUSTRALIAN CAPTAIN, AARON FINCH HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. This is for scoring an attacking 41 with the bat and then winning the game for Australia with some excellent captaincy. Finch praises his bowlers for being relentless in trying to defend that total. Does not want to put it down to relief but hard work. Wants to justify that by winning in Hobart again. On the bowling plans, Finch says that the bowlers aimed not to give easy runs and make scoring difficult. Admits that he gambled rotating the bowlers and finishing Cummins and Hazlewood early but he has to take some risks as Miller and Faf du Plessis were playing well. Adds further that had he not done that, the game would have dragged on till the 45th over but Australia would have lost. On the flip side, the Aussies might still have lost had the wickets not fallen but then there is no difference whether you lose in the 45th or the 35th over. On Zampa, he is happy that the leggie has gained some confidence back for himself.
  • South African skipper, Faf du Plessis, says that the defeat tonight is a tough pill to swallow. Feels sad for his bowlers after they did all the hard work. But blames no one from himself as he realizes that he should have taken it deeper. Feels that the wicket was slower and Australian seamers were bowling really well. So the plan was to see off the pacers and attack the spinner but the opposition gambled by keeping the spinner (Zampa) till the end and it paid off for them. Admits that his wicket opened the floodgates but also says that good teams usually chase such scores down. Adds further that 232 was not a score worth winning and the Proteas have let themselves down. On Miller's knock, Faf says that he hoped that Pretorius would take the team over the line with around 80 or 90 to get but now wishes that he does better in the next game. Admits that the team is very much disappointed but these days, there is no time left to rue. They need to get that out of the system quickly and come back fresh on Sunday.
  • Mitchell Starc now has a chat with Brendon Julian. Says that it is nice to get a win after working so hard. On the bowling, Starc says that the team just kept themselves in the hunt by taking wickets at regular intervals. Praises Cummins and Stoinis for bowling well in the middle overs and taking the wickets of Miller and du Plessis. Admits that there is still some work to do but Australia will take the win. Agrees that he likes to bowl with the new ball and today he bowled with a bit of anger, since he was not given the new ball in the previous game. Feels that he had a good workout and is feeling fitter and better. Time now for the presentation.
  • Marcus Stoinis says that he is very tired after a really stressful game. On the win, Marcus says that the team can definitely build on this. Admits that it has been a tough 6 months and they can now chill out, cheekily adding, for 1 day. On his celebration, MS says that there is no thinking about it but pure passion to play for Australia. Adds that he loves to have a bit of a sledge with the opposition.
  • And now, the talk of the town. My colleague KingVic calls him the Hulk. Marcus Stoinis. Out of nowhere, he picked up 3 wickets for just 35 runs. The spotlight was on Starc, Joshua and Patrick but this guy sneaked in and actually bowled well. Klaasen was generous enough to gift him his wicket while Stoinis closed the game with the wicket of Miller. Then dismissed Steyn later on. Here is Marcus, ready for an interview with Neroli Meadows.
  • As far as Australia are concerned, they will take this win. It is not their problem if the opposition plays poor cricket. Hazlewood and Cummins bowled their hearts out but the rest were purely lucky in getting the wickets. The odd good ball was always there but they will admit that they have gotten away with this one. Starc looked rusty again, but managed to bowl some decent deliveries in between to end with 2 wickets. Hazlewood bowled consistently for his 2-fer while Pat Cummins - wow. Vote for him for the most hard-working Australian cricketer. Whether team wins or loses, gives more than a 100 percent. Here, his 1/27 in 10 overs stifled the Proteas in the middle overs. Adam Zampa was ordinary again and was lucky not to get tonked around because he was being protected till the main batsmen got dismissed.
  • At 68/4 in the 15th over, the Aussies were well on top but a 74-run stand between skipper Faf du Plessis and David Miller raised the Protea hopes. However, once the captain fell, the Aussies started to close in. David Miller tried to hang around and got a half century as well but could not quite close it out. To sum it up, the Proteas simply messed it up.
  • To be honest, South Africa will be disappointed on missing out on an opportunity to close the series here itself. 232 was not such a great target and if you see, the defeat margin was not that great. The top order just threw its wickets away, barring Reeza Hendricks and that hurt the team big time.
  • Relief for Australia. They have broken their 7-match losing streak at a ground where they last won an ODI. But tonight, they have fought hard and have deserved to win, in spite of a poor batting display from both sides. The series is level 1-1 now.
  • 49.6 FOUR! It is a boundary but will not matter. AUSTRALIA HAVE WON BY 7 RUNS. Full and outside off, Tahir comes down the track and flays it over cover to end the game.
  • 49.5 That will be it. Unless Maxwell bowls a couple of no balls and gets hit for sixes, the game is dusted. Full and around off, Ngidi swings hard but loses his grip, loses his bat and gets the ball towards deep mid-wicket. The willow is broken off the string and goes towards short mid-wicket. A single is taken and South Africa need 12 from the final ball.
  • 49.4 'OHHHHHHHH!' screams Tahir in anguish before Ngidi makes him realize that the game is not over yet. Full and outside off, Imran swings hard but only gets a thick outside edge towards short third man. The batsman thinks that the game is over but if Ngidi can get the next two away over the ropes, it can still be a tie. 13 needed from 2 balls.
  • 49.3 Full and around middle, Ngidi can only get it towards square leg for a single.
  • 49.2 Comes down the track again but cannot quite get it past cover. Just a single. 15 needed from 4 now.
  • 49.1 FOUR! The game is still alive! Full and wide outside off, Tahir comes down the track, throws his bat at it and gets it behind point for a boundary! 16 needed from 5!
  • Finch does not have any bowler left who has bowled at least 1 over tonight. Has to go to a new bowler. Glenn Maxwell it is. Can he defend 19?
  • 48.6 SIX! WHAM! What a hit! 20 needed from the final over! Full and outside off, Ngidi gets down and mows it over mid-wicket, 20 rows over mid-wicket! 212/9
  • 48.5 Full and outside off, Imran has a hack but the ball goes off the inner half of the bat towards square leg for a single.

  • 47.6 Full and just outside off, Tahir pushes this uppishly but it does not carry to cover. A WICKET MAIDEN FROM STARC. He finishes with figures of 10-1-51-2. Not at his best yet. 202/9

  • 47.4 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
  • 47.3 A length ball outside off, a swing and a miss from Imran.
  • 47.2 Full and outside off, pushed straight to cover.
  • Imran Tahir is the last man in.
  • 47.1 OUT! KABOOM! Bowled! That is a Starc special. Australia have been wanting that. It has taken a long time but eventually it has come. That ripping inswinger from outside off, curling in, not even allowing the bat to come down and then goes under. Right onto the stumps.
  • 46.6 FOUR! A valuable boundary! A low full toss, on middle, Ngidi gets low and slogs it over mid-wicket for a boundary! 30 needed from 18 balls. Is this game still alive? 202/8
  • 46.5 Outside off, a swing and a miss.
  • 46.4 NOT OUT. A matter of millimetres. Full and outside off, Ngidi looks to swing but is months early into the shot. The ball arrives ever so late and goes past the outside edge. Carey collects it and then whips off the bails and confidently appeals towards the square leg umpire. The Aussies are smiling and they reckon this is out. Replays show that while Ngidi's foot was dragged out, it came back in before Carey could take the bails off.
  • HOWZZAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT? Carey belts an appeal and confidently looks at the square leg umpire. Aaron Finch is running in from point and is already celebrating. Australia reckon that Ngidi is stumped. Referred upstairs...
  • 46.3 Full and outside off, chipped down to long off for a single.
  • 46.2 The slower wide one, outside off, the googly, Kagiso looks to cut but misses.
  • 46.1 A short ball, pulled towards wide long on for a couple. The stand moves to 10 from 16 balls.
  • 45.6 Down the leg side, Rabada tickles it towards fine leg for a run. Starc gives him a mouthful. Remember, during the innings break interview, Lynn had commented that should Rabada come out to bat, Starc and Hazlewood will not be very pleasant with him. 195/8
  • 45.5 A low full toss, swinging away, outside off, Ngidi looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge towards third man for a single.
  • 45.4 Fourth in a row! Starc is smiling. Finch is not. He wants this done and dusted. Full and just outside off, Ngidi looks to drive again but the ball swings past his outside edge.
  • 45.3 Third dot on the trot. Full and outside off, LN looks to drive but is beaten by the outswinger again.
  • 45.2 Another play and a miss, another dot. On a length outside off, Lungi stays inside the line, tries to drive but is beaten by the away movement.
  • 45.1 A yorker outside off, Ngidi looks to drive but misses.
  • Mitchell Starc is back on. Can he wrap up the tail? 8-0-49-1 so far.
  • 44.6 Dabs this towards mid on for one more. Excellent over from Zampa. Agreed that he is not bowling to proper batsmen out there but still, it will raise his confidence. 193/8
  • 44.5 The batsman guides it to third man. One run added to the total.
  • 44.4 Full and outside off, chipped over the bowler's head for a single towards mid on.
  • 44.3 Full and around off, well blocked out.
  • 44.2 Fuller on middle, flicked through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 44.1 Pitched outside leg, Rabada pads it away.
  • 43.6 Outside off a play and a miss. A match-winning spell perhaps from Stoinis? 10-0-35-3! 189/8
  • 43.5 The batsman drives this through the covers.
  • 43.4 Full and outside off, driven sweetly through the covers for a couple.
  • Lungi Ngidi walks in at number 10, replacing Miller.
  • 43.3 OUT! That is out! The umpire has to reverse his decision! Well, that is really surprising. I mean, just figure this out. Miller is batting outside his crease. Then, he walks down the track to flick, which means he has nearly covered half the pitch distance. Misses his flick to a length ball and is hit on the pads. Stoinis appeals but umpire Gough stays calm. Not to be blamed, because that did look not out to the naked eye. But Stoinis is desperate. He asks Carey and the keeper says that it pitched outside leg, Probably not sure about the height either. But a frustrated Marcus just ignores him and pleads with his captain to go for the review. Finch agrees. And voila! Hawk Eye shows it to be dead plumb! What happened to the 3-metre rule? One would say, a lucky, lucky wicket for Australia. But they will take it. Miller walks back shaking his head. Might just be the final nail in the coffin. 45 more needed from 39 balls.
  • Big moment in the game. Stoinis reckons that he has got Miller LBW. Carey says it is pitched outside leg. But Stoinis feels that is in line and demands a review. Finch agrees.
  • 43.2 Fuller, around leg stump, pushed wide of mid on for a single.
  • 43.1 A bouncer to start his final over, Rabada ducks.

  • 42.1 A yorker to start, pushed back to the bowler.
  • Gamble from Finch. Adam Zampa has been brought back. 5-0-35-0 so far.

  • 41.5 Full but down the leg side, Rabada misses his flick and is hit on the pads.
  • Kagiso Rabada walks in at number 9, replacing Steyn.
  • 41.4 OUT! BOWLED! Stoinis roars! Australia get a chance to celebrate again. A length ball again, outside off, Steyn stays back to try and work it to the leg side. But the ball keeps low, takes the under edge and lights up the zinc bails! Australia need 3 wickets. South Africa need 48 from 50 balls. Miller is still there in the middle. Oh... you don't want to go anywhere else, do you?
  • 41.3 A length ball outside off, chipped over covers for a couple.
  • 41.2 Around off, solidly defended.
  • 41.1 Outside off, punched to sweeper cover for a single.
  • Marcus Stoinis is back on. 8-0-28-1 so far.

  • 40.5 Full and outside off, sliced behind point for a single.

  • POWERPLAY 3 time. 5 fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle till the end.
  • 39.6 Defended off the back foot by the batsman. 8 from the over and Cummins is done after another stellar effort. 10-0-27-1. Really superb. But one more wicket would have probably sealed the game for Australia. 129/4 in Powerplay 2 for the Saffas. Australia made 124/6. Those 2 wickets are the difference. 177/6
  • 39.5 On a good length around off, watchfully defended.

  • 39.2 Down the leg side, Miller looks to flick but the ball goes off his pads past the keeper who dives to his right and parries it wide of short fine leg. Two runs taken. No signal, so might have been an inside edge.
  • 39.1 On a length outside off, pushed to the off side.

  • 38.3 On a length outside off, Steyn pushes inside the line and is beaten.
  • Dale Steyn walks in at number 8, replacing Pretorius.
  • 38.2 OUT! And Finch gets a wicket! Not of Miller but he will take any wicket for now. Hazlewood has struck. A short ball outside off, Pretorius looks to pull but the bounce does him in. He is cramped for room and the ball limps of the top edge, towards short mid-wicket where Chris Lynn runs a few yards to his right and takes a simple catch. A decent 32-run stand has been broken. South Africa just need their players to bat around Miller. 58 needed from 70.
  • 38.1 Full and outside off, Pretorius drives it straight back down the ground. Mid on gives it a good chase and keeps the batsmen to two. 58 more needed from 71 balls now.

  • 36.6 The batsman works it down the leg side. They pick up a single. Not a bad over from Zampa. 169/5

  • 10.1 OUT! Caught behind! Oh dear and then they were three. Probably the best ball of the chase. On a length it is, in the corridor of Hazlewood. Which means, that corridor of uncertainty, the avenue of apprehension. Should I play? Should I let it go? Hendricks is in that conundrum as well. Feels for it, then wants to take his bat away. Too late. The ball takes the outside edge and Alex Carey does the rest after appealing. They check for the overstepping but Josh is just fine. • 9.1 OUT! Markram is short! Another bonus wicket for Australia. But the fielding was pretty good on this occasion - the throw, even better. A length ball, around middle, Hendricks worked it through mid-wicket and jogged across. The batsmen take two easily and Markram was watching at the non-striker's end, towards his partner. He did not take a start at all and then began running after Hendricks came halfway through. Marcus Stoinis gave it a good chase from short mid-wicket and released a powerful throw. Clean and straight it came, towards the keeper. Alex Carey was ready, waiting for the throw and removed the bails. Markram had dived in his crease but seemed to be short. It got referred upstairs and replays are interesting. Aiden would have got in with a dive but while diving, the bat went in the air. Inside the crease but in the air. Tough luck.

  • 4.5 EDGED, FOUR! Now, that is a real Mitchell Starc delivery. A length ball, outside off, Markram looks to defend but the ball zips away, squares him up and goes off the outside edge. JUST WIDE of a diving Aaron Finch at second slip towards the third man fence.

  • 4.1 OUT! A soft dismissal! Well o well. Australia needed an early wicket and it is not Starc who has provided it. De Kock has gifted his wicket away. A loose delivery, down the leg side, could have put away anywhere. De Kock connects his flick well but to his horror, he finds Adam Zampa to perfection at long leg! No one can believe what has happened. A struggling Starc is sheepish. Zampa cannot believe either that the ball has come straight to him. De Kock is so frustrated that the batsmen do not even cross! 214 more needed from 275 balls.
