  • Debutant, the 16-year-old Naseem Shah is into the attack now.
  • Day 1 started with Pakistan battling out the first session to remain unscathed with skipper Azhar Ali and Shan Masood adding 75 runs for the first wicket. The second session, not so good for the visitors as the Australians hit back with quick wickets. In the third one, Mohammad Rizwan scored briskly but given out controversially by the third umpire. Asad Shafiq then added useful 84 runs with the help of Yasir Shah before the Aussie seamers bundled the visitors for 240. It is time for Day 2 now. Will the Aussie be able to take a lead with a huge first inning total or will Pakistan be able to spring a surprise with their young and inexperienced pace attack? We will find that out soon. Welcome to our coverage for the same.
  • ... Day 2, Session 1 ...
  • Now, what to look for on Day 2? Pakistan's pace attack is a much-talked one with the debutant, the 16-year-old, Naseem Shah, being the talk of the town. They will look to replicate what their counterparts have done with the ball while the hosts would look to score a massive first innings total to take a huge lead. Will the hosts be able to do so or will Pakistan be able to chip in with wickets early on to keep the game in the balance? Join us to find that out at 1000 local (0000 GMT) on 22nd November, 2019. Till then, take care!
  • Talking about the hosts' bowling, it did not start well. The pacers were either too short or too full and that meant that they could not draw the batters into the shots. Going into Lunch, they would've been a tad disappointed. However, post the Lunch break, the pacers combined to pick quick wickets to push Pakistan on the back foot. From 75/0, Pakistan were reeling at 94/5. The late fight from Shafiq and Yasir kept the bowlers at bay for a while. Things changed as soon as Starc got the second new cherry in his hand. He along with Cummins combined together to close the Pakistani innings.
  • Earlier in the day, Pakistan opted to bat first after winning the toss. The openers, skipper Azhar Ali and Shan Masood negated the entire first session. However, they could not convert their starts into big ones and fell in quick succession. Babar Azam got out playing a needless shot early in his innings, leaving the side in a limbo. Mohammad Rizwan and Asad Shafiq then added 49 runs between them to provide some stability. However, a poor call from the third umpire saw Rizwan depart. Shafiq and then Yasir combined together to add 84 runs between them to take Pakistan's total over 200. In the process, Shafiq raked up his 24th Test half ton. But eventually the hosts' pacers had the last laugh as they finished off the things just at the close of the day.
  • There you go then. The second new ball brought a flurry of wickets and that sees Pakistan getting bundled out for 240. Starc and Cummins took the second new ball and wrecked havoc with it to close down the innings.
  • 86.2 OUT! Caught and bowled! There goes the debutant and Australia bundle out Pakistan. A short of a length ball on middle, Naseem hops to defend but the ball takes the leading edge and lobs up in the air towards the bowler. Starc settles under it and pouches it with ease. PAKISTAN ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 240.
  • 86.1 Bouncer down the leg side. Naseem looks to pull but misses.
  • 85.6 Dropped! Cummins bowls it fullish and wide outside off, inviting for the drive. Khan jr obliges and goes for the drive away from the body. The ball takes the outside edge and goes to Marnus Labuschagne at third slip. He looks to gobble it but fails to catch it. 240/9
  • 85.5 Finally a ball on the stumps line. It is on a fullish length but Imran blocks it out.
  • 85.4 Beaten past the edge once again. Length and on off. Khan jr pokes once again but makes no connection.
  • 85.3 Bouncer down the leg side. Imran looks to duck under it but hits on the body.
  • Australia can heave a sigh of relief. The clock has ticked past 5.20 pm, which means that even if Pakistan get bowled out now, the Aussies will not have to bat tonight.
  • 85.2 Another one past the poke of the batsman. This is on a length and closer to the off pole. Imran looks to push off the back foot but is beaten.
  • 85.1 Beaten again! Bowl a few on the stumps maybe. A good length ball in the channel outside off. Imran pokes at the ball but misses.
  • 84.6 FOUR! Gets his boundary in international cricket with a beautiful shot. Starc misses his yorker and bowls a full toss on middle and leg, Naseem punches the ball through mid on and picks up a boundary. 240/9
  • 84.5 Full delivery on the pads, Naseem plays the helicopter shot but finds the mid off fielder.
  • 84.4 Another bumper on the middle stump line, Naseem looks to play the upper cut but fails to make connection yet again.
  • 84.4 WIDE. Short ball way over the head of the batsman, Naseem looks to hook that one but misses it. It is wided.
  • Hard not to spot this. The Aussie openers are nervous and Warner and Burns are having a small chat. There is a nervous smile on their faces and then a look at the clock. 'Keep ticking', they will be saying. 4 minutes more. If Pakistan manage to hang around till 0720 GMT, Australia will not have to bat tonight, even if the visitors get bowled out, as it takes 10 minutes for the innings changeover.
  • 84.3 Yorker around off, Naseem digs it out through point and picks up another couple. Australia won't mind these, as long as this last wicket pair bats till 5.20 pm local.
  • 84.2 The batters out there are just swinging their bat at everything out there. Starc bowls another good length delivery outside off, Shah goes for another swing but fails to make any connection to it.
  • 84.1 PLAY AND A MISS! Full delivery outside off from Starc, Naseem looks to drive it but misses it altogether.
  • 83.6 On a length on middle and leg, Khan jr defends it off the back foot. 233/9
  • 83.5 BEATEN! Short delivery outside off, Khan jr looks to guide it away but fails to put any bat on it.
  • 83.4 EDGED AND FOUR! Lucky boundary for Pakistan! Good length ball outside off, Khan jr looks to swing it away but it goes off the outside edge over the slip cordon and into the fence.
  • 83.3 Ooohh... yorker outside off, Naseem guides this past the third slip fielder, to third man, who for a change, is present. There were two on offer and Imran calls his partner but Naseem has his hand up! Probably he does not want to face Cummins... Just a single then.
  • 83.2 BEATEN! Another wild heave! Good length ball outside off, Shah looks to play the slog to the off side but misses it completely.
  • 83.1 BOUNCER! Excellent one at that! It is aimed at the body of Naseem who attempts to fend at it uncomfortably but fails to do so. There was some noise but don't know from where.
  • 82.6 Full toss outside off, Khan jr guides it to third slip. 228/9
  • 82.5 BOUNCER! This time bowls a snorter over the batsman's head. Imran looks to play the hook but misses it altogether.
  • 82.4 Starc attempts another yorker on off, Imran manages to dig it out to the off side.
  • 82.3 Good length delivery on off, Khan jr defends it to cover.
  • 82.2 BEATEN! That is a wild heave! Good length ball outside off, Imran looks to heave it towards the off side but fails to put any bat on it.
  • 82.1 Good length ball swinging into the batsman, Imran looks to defend it but it goes off the inside edge onto the pads. No harm done though as the ball rolls towards short leg.
  • 81.6 OHH! Cummins bowls another good length ball around off, Imran looks to defend but it goes off the inside edge towards square leg and he takes a single. 228/9
  • 81.5 On a length outside off, Imran defends it onto the off side.
  • Imran Khan jr walks in at number 11. How many balls will he last?
  • 81.4 BOWLED! TIMBER! This is excellent bowling from Pat Cummins. Pakistan crumbling yet again. Full delivery on off, swinging in, Shafiq looks to defend it but the ball sneaks past the bat and pad and goes onto hitting the top of middle stump. End of a magnificent innings from Shafiq. He was the only one who looked comfortable at the crease and has given some respect to Pakistan's score.
  • 81.3 On a length outside off swinging away a touch, Shafiq shoulders arms to this one
  • 81.2 Full delivery outside off, Asad drives it to mid off but refuses to take the single.
  • 81.1 Cummins bowls a good length ball on middle, Shafiq plays it back to the bowler.
  • Who will be Starc's second new-ball partner? Pat Cummins. 19-6-54-2 are his figures so far.
  • 80.6 'Hey! Only one man is running!' spots my colleague, Ruwaab. Boy, a lovely delivery on the hat-trick ball but could have well been a team hat-trick. A length ball, around off, Naseem gets across and looks to tuck it to the leg side but the ball swings in, takes the inside edge and goes towards square leg. Now, Naseem comes halfway down the track for the single but Shafiq sends him back. Luckily for the batsman, the fielder is not to the ball when he is halfway down the track. Gets back in time. What an over from Starc. 227/8
  • What a time for the debutant. Naseem Shah walks in to face the hat-trick ball.
  • 80.5 OUT! Caught! Two in two for Starc. The Ultra Edge suggests an outside edge which means Starc will be on a hat-trick next ball. A good length ball, closer to the off pole. Shaheen looks to drive away from the body but gets an outside edge. Paine behind the wicket gobbles and celebrates along with the bowler. The umpire though is not interested as he turns down the appeal. Paine thinks and thinks and almost decides against the review. However, Smith from the slip cordon asks him to go for the review. With just 4 seconds left on the clock, he goes for the review. First, Hot Spot. Massive spot on the bat. Here comes the Ultra Edge, a faint tickle has been spotted and Afridi has to walk back for a first-ball duck. Starc on a hat-trick!
  • Is that another? There was a big noise as the ball went past the bat. Paine is confident but the slip cordon isn't. Paine throws the ball away but with 4 seconds left, takes the review, as Smith tells him to. And voila! Hot Spot shows a mark! Now, now, now, is Smudge ever wrong in reviews? Ajinkya Rahane, 2015 World Cup, any rememberance?
  • Shaheen Afridi is the new batsman in.
  • 80.4 OUT! Timber! No need to appeal for these. What a brilliant yorker this one. The second new ball has done the trick for them. Wonder if even the top order could've done much to that delivery. An inswinging yorker. Shah looks to jam it away but misses. The ball swings in, misses the inside edge, hits the pad and disturbs the stumps. The 84-run stand is broken.
  • 80.3 Huge LBW appeal but that looks to be going down the leg side. The umpire says not out as well. A fullish length ball on the pads. Shah looks to flick but gets hit on the pads. The appeal has been turned down.
  • 80.2 Beaten! A fuller ball and outside off, Shah goes for the drive but misses.
  • THE SECOND NEW BALL HAS BEEN TAKEN!
  • 80.1 Starts with a slightly shortish length ball, Shafiq pushes it towards the leg side and crosses for a run.
  • Mitchell Starc is back on. 15-4-44-1 are his figures so far.
  • 79.6 Almost an outside edge. This one lands around off and turns away as Shah looks to play an expansive drive towards the off side. 226/6
  • 79.5 Another full toss. Asad this time takes a single as he mistimes his slog for a single towards mid-wicket.
  • 79.4 Short and wide outside off, Shafiq blocks it off the back foot.
  • 79.3 FOUR! This time the poor ball has been dispatched to the fence. Full toss outside off, Shafiq hammers it to the mid-wicket fence.
  • 79.2 A long hop this time. Yasir mistimes his pull towards square leg for a single.
  • 79.1 He starts with a flatter one on middle, Yasir keeps it out.
  • Steven Smith is into the attack. Just one more over left before the second new ball is due and that might be the reason to bring Smith in this over.
  • 78.6 Loopy delivery on off, Asad plays it to point. 220/6
  • 78.5 Tossed up delivery on middle, Yasir sweeps it through square leg for a single.

  • 76.5 Short and wide again. Asad punches it off the back foot but straight to the cover fielder.
  • 76.4 FOUR! No problems there for Shafiq. Any width and he is not going to miss out. A full ball and outside off, he creams this one through the covers to bag his fifth boundary.
  • 76.3 Now, a play and a miss! Short and wide outside off. Asad looks to cut but misses.
  • 76.2 Full again, this time the drive is straight to covers.
  • 76.1 Full and outside off, Asad drives well but straight to mid off.

  • 75.3 Smiles all around! Almost four overthrows. Full and outside off, Yasir goes back and punches it towards mid off. The batsmen take a quick single as Pat Cummins gets to the ball and returns the throw. Now, comes the laughter bit. The throw hits the stumps at the striker's end and deflects away. Steven Smith dives to his right at first slip, slips but manages to stop the ball. Everyone enjoys the joke.

There is still a long way to go and these two would hope to continue the good work. The hosts, on the other hand, would be a touch disappointed as they could not pick up further wickets. England won the toss, elected to bat, lost just 4 wickets but could manage only 241. Three 50-run stands were seen, but none went on to reach the three-figure mark. • 54.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Well, the umpire thinks it's a legal ball and he sends Rizwan packing. That clearly looks like a no ball. A surprising, surprising call from the third umpire. Rizwan will feel hard done by here. Coming to the shot, it was a poor one though. A good length ball outside off, Rizwan pushes at the ball with hard hands but manages only a tickle behind. A straightforward chance for Paine behind the wickets. Now, here is the drama. The on-field umpire is not sure whether the bowler has overstepped, so he sends it upstairs. There are plenty of replays shown and in every one of them, it appears that when the foot lands, the heel is on the line. Nothing is behind. The third umpire, Michael Gough, feels that there is something though. And gives the benefit of doubt to the bowler! Strange, strange call. Normally, the benefit of doubt always goes to a batsman. Well, there is always a first time for things. The 49-run stand is broken and the attacking innings from Rizwan has been cut short.

  • Welcome back for the final session of the day! Mohammad Rizwan and Asad Shafiq make their way out to the middle to resume their innings. Pat Cummins will bowl the first over after the break.
  • ... Day 1, Session 3 ...
  • A top session for the hosts as they have managed to send half the visitors' side back to the hut. It started with Pat Cummins removing Shan Masood at the start of the second session. Once the first one fell, the wicket procession started with Hazlewood picking a couple of wickets. Babar Azam came in and disappeared in no time, playing a reckless shot. Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Rizwan are amidst a 31-run stand and they would look to keep it going. The hosts, on the other hand, would look to close the innings quickly. Interesting session ahead. Join us for the final session to find out.

By the way, Babar Azam, the man who had a good couple of warm-up games walks out to the middle now to replace Sohail.
  • 38.3 OUT! CAUGHT! What a bowling change from Tim Paine and Australia. Starc is brought back and immediately does the job for his skipper. Massive wicket this one as Ali was looking solid out in the middle.
  • 33.1 Huge appeal for LBW now. Turned down by the umpire. A good length ball just around off, Azhar looks to drive but gets an inside edge onto the pads. No reviews from the Australians there once again. So, the appeal was just to put the umpire under pressure there.
  • Haris Sohail is the new man in.

Masood looks to defend but the ball takes the outside edge and goes to Steven Smith at second slip. He does not make a mistake there. • 32.5 Now a bouncer on middle but Masood evades it easily.

  • We are back for the second session. The Australian players are out in the middle. Shan Masood and Azhar Ali will resume their innings. Josh Hazlewood will start the proceedings after Lunch.
  • ... DAY 1, SESSION 2 ...
  • The Australians on the other hand, did not do a lot wrong. They kept it tight but did not get much assistance from the surface. Hazlewood was probably the pick of the bowlers in the first session as he troubled the batters a lot more than the rest. However, one thing the Aussies could have done better was bowling a little bit fuller. We may see their lengths change in the next session though. They will come out with the air of breaking this stand as quickly as possible and then look to make further inroads. Join us for what could be another intriguing session in a while.
  • A hard-fought session but it will surely be Pakistan who will be the happier of the two heading into the break. Just what they would have wanted after electing to bat. The runs have not come at a brisk rate but that is not something they will be bothered about. Both Shan and Azhar have looked really solid. They waited for the bad balls which they did manage to put away and kept out the good ones. The two now have gotten off to starts and would like to make full use of it.

  • 25.4 FOUR! Finds the gap this time and bags a boundary! Outside off and on a length, Azhar plays it late and guides it through backward point and into the fence. 50 up for Pakistan. They have gone about things at a slow pace but this is just the start they would have wanted. Need to keep going though.

  • 25.2 A bumper now which is once again ducked under with ease.
  • 25.1 Another good shot by Azhar but for no runs! Fuller and on middle, Ali strokes it to mid on. Ali should not be frustrated here, he has played some good shots but is unable to find the gap.

  • PAKISTAN (PLAYING XI) - Azhar Ali (C), Shan Masood, Haris Sohail, Asad Shafiq, Iftikhar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Yasir Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah (DEBUT), Imran Khan Jr.
  • AUSTRALIA (PLAYING XI) - David Warner, Joe Burns, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Tim Paine (WK/C), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
  • TOSS - Time for the flip of the coin. Pakistan have won the Toss. THE VISITORS OPT TO BAT FIRST.
  • It is almost time for the Australian summer to begin. When the Aussie side last wore the baggy green, they made sure that the Urn remained with them after their spirited performance in England. Steven Smith made his return to whites and how. The world no. 1 bowler Pat Cummins has been in terrific form. What does that mean? Well, Pakistan has not won a Test in the country since 1995 and the above sentence will tell you that if they are to win one, they will be up against the likes of Smith and Cummins who will lead the batting and bowling unit of the hosts. The visitors, as always have an exceptional pace attack with a certain 16-year-old Naseem Shah set to make his Test debut. Babar Azam is one of the top batters going around in the world right now and would want to prove that. He will hope for some assistance from others around him in order to tackle Tim Paine's bowlers. Will Pakistan be able to do so or will Australia continue to dominate them at home? We will soon find out. Toss and team updates in a while.

Australia Vs Pakistan Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • Mantra to Pakistan - Right now, do not look at the scoreboard. Just look at 90 balls remaining. See them off without any damage. The pitch does not have any demons, so batting can still be done effectively. Stay tuned for the third innings...
  • What different did Australia do as compared to Pakistan? Why did the latter struggle to pick wickets regularly? One can guess the choking part. There was only a brief period when Azhar Ali stifled the run flow on Day 2 but then, allowed easy runs and that helped the scoreboard to move. Compare that to Australia in the second session on Day 1. 15 overs, 10 runs at one stage. Otherwise, not much swing, not much seam movement, not much turn either. Just a bit of bounce. Yasir Shah got 4 wickets but that was because of the batsmen going after him.
  • Probably, Australia will not be too unhappy with the timing of the last wicket. They have got 17 overs to get 2-3 wickets of Pakistan before the day ends. A proper Australian type batting scorecard with the batters piling on the misery on the bowlers after their own skittled out Pakistan on Day 1. Secretly, Justin Langer will be happy that Smith flopped. Because he would want a point to prove - Australia are not only about Smith. If only, this can happen outside home as well.
  • 580. Australia's score. 340. The lead. Mammoth, in every sense. And this time, no Smith involved. It was Warner, Burns and Labuschagne who pushed Pakistan on the back foot early on while Wade just pummeled the visitors into submission.
  • 157.4 OUT! LBW! Not much use of the review. Umpire's call it is, on height and Australia's batting innings ends. Flighted delivery on off, Hazlewood looks to defend but misses it as the ball turns in and gets hit on the pads. The bowler appeals for lbw and the umpire raises his finger. Hazlewood has a long look at his partner and almost as if to suggest that there is a review left, so let's take it, opts for the same. There is nothing on Hot Spot, or Snicko. Ball Tracker shows that it is umpire's call on height, as the ball is clipping the top of leg stump. The original decision will stay as it is. AUSTRALIA ARE ALL OUT FOR 580.
  • Huge shout and given! Have Pakistan bowled out Australia? Hazlewood has been adjudged LBW but he has taken a review, after a chat with Lyon. Looks plumb. Nothing on the Hot Spot or Snicko while the Ball Tracker shows it to be clipping the top of leg stump. Finally, Pakistan get a chance to bat again.

  • ... Day 3, Session 3 ...
  • The Australian domination in the game continues. If it was David Warner on Day 2, it has to be Marnus Labuschagne on the second day. He is unbeaten on 171 runs along with skipper Tim Paine. Marnus is looking strong out in the middle and has already gone past 150-run mark. After the wicket of Smith, he along with Wade added 110 runs with the former raking up a well made half ton before getting out to Haris Sohail. Now, with 2 days and a session left, what will the Aussies be thinking? Maybe a double ton for Labuschagne and then the declaration? Or will they bat little longer to bat Pakistan completely out of the game. Pakistani bowlers, well, they have been on the field for 146 overs and they would be hoping for the declaration to come as soon as possible. Interesting to see what tactics Australia come out to bat with in the final session. Be back for that post this mini-break.

  • ... Day 3, Session 2 ...
  • Another brilliant session for the Australians which puts them in a brilliant position in the game. They have swelled their lead to 155 runs already and are still going strong. Courtesy a brilliant maiden Test ton from Marnus Labuschagne. Wade joined Marnus after the wicket of Smith and has added 37 runs quickly. As far as Pakistan bowling is concerned, they kept Warner silent in the first hour of the session. Naseem and Yasir were the two bowlers who got wickets this morning. Naseem looked threatening and removed Warner with a vicious bouncer. Smith showed us that he is a human too as he fell cheaply to Yasir Shah. Now, while Pakistan have managed to get a couple of wickets in the session, they will have to get a few more wickets as quickly as possible in the afternoon session. Will they be able to do so or will Labuschagne and Wade put on another big stand to keep the lead swelling further? Join us for the afternoon session to find out.

  • Matthew Wade is the next batsman in.
  • 103.5 OUT! Bowled' em! Yasir strikes and removes the big fish. He has been excellent this morning and has got a reward for that with the wicket of world's no.1 Test batsman. Rizwan there dives to his left and pouches it superbly. Naseem went past the outside edge twice in the over and he deserved this wicket. They check for the no ball but this is a legal delivery. • We are ready to begin Day 3 as David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne walk out to the middle. The Pakistan players are taking their respective positions on the field. Imran Khan jr will start the proceedings for Day 3.
  • It was all about Australian batting on Day 2. David Warner and Joe Burns combined to put on a massive 222-run opening stand. While Burns missed out on a ton, David Warner completed one and remained unbeaten on 151 runs. He has Marnus Labuschagne for the company when he resumes his innings in a while. Pakistani bowlers looked haywire on the entire second day and will have to put a spirited performance to pull their side back in the game. To do so, they need to bundle the Aussies out as quickly as possible and keep the deficit to the minimum. Will they be able to do so or will the hosts' batters pile on their misery for the bowlers? We will have all the answers soon. Welcome to our coverage of Day 3.
  • ... Day 3, Session 1 ...
  • Now, what will be the total Australia will be having on their mind when they come to bat on Day 3? They would want to bat the visitor's out of the game by taking a massive total. Will they be able to pile on the runs or will Pakistani bowlers be able to get quick wickets to stop the hosts taking a massive lead? We will find that out on 23rd November, 2019. Join us at 1000 local (0000 GMT). Till then, cheers!
  • Pakistani bowlers did not look threatening entire day. The debutant, Naseem Shah bowled with a lot of pace but could not stick to perfect line and length. He would've had Warner his first Test wicket but that was not the case. Had he not overstepped, things might have been a little different for them. While Yasir had a wicket to his name, he too could not trouble the Aussie openers and later Marnus Labuschagne. They toiled hard but could not deliver the final punches.
  • The day started with both David Warner and Joe Burns starting positively and went to Lunch unscathed. They returned after the break and continued piling the runs. Warner got to his 22nd Test ton during the massive stand with Joe Burns. He got lucky once just after the Lunch when Naseem had him caught behind. However, he had overstepped and Warner did not miss out on pouncing the opportunity. Burns fell three short of a well-deserved ton, becoming the first and only victim of the day. Labuschagne joined Warner in the middle and brought up his fifty.
  • End of a dominating day for the hosts. Australia lead by 72 runs. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne go to stumps with a solid 90-run stand. Warner could've been back to the pavilion during the penultimate over of the day but luck was with him as even after the ball kissed the stumps, bails did not dislodge and he will come back tomorrow too, along with Labuschagne.

  • ... Day 2, Session 2 ...
  • A perfect session for the visitors on the surface which looks like heaven for batting. Warner and Burns have comfortably raked up a 100-run stand between them. The Pakistani bowlers have not tested them much. While they hardly got any assistance from the surface, they were not consistent with their lines and lengths throughout. Warner has brought up his 31st half ton and looking solid out in the middle. He will look to convert this one into a massive one. Seems like a long and hard day for the Pakistani seamers and spinners. They need quick wickets to get back in the game. Will they be able to do so or the Australian openers will continue piling on the runs? Join for the afternoon session to find out.

Australia Vs Pakistan Live Score (TEST) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • So! A bit of a dramatic end to what has been a one-sided Test match. Australia get some much needed 60 points to go second in the World Test Championship table. Will the pink ball produce a different result? A better contest at least? Both Australia and Pakistan have a decent record in Day/Night Tests. The second match in Adelaide should be a cracker. Join us on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 2 pm local (0330 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • MARNUS LABUSCHAGNE HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. On his maiden Test century at his home ground, Labuschagne says that it is very special to have everything pan out like that and is happy that he could contribute to the team's winning cause. On the nervous moments before his ton. Marnus admits that it was tough as he was keeping on thinking whether he will get there and believes he was lucky to get there. Adds that it was a big moment for him and his family. On his batting technique and mindset, Labuschagne says that playing in England has helped him and here, in Queensland as well, batting ain't easy, so that made him mentally tough. Is looking forward for the Day/Night Test in Adelaide.
  • Victorious Australian captain, Tim Paine, says that he is really happy. Especially given the innings victory and maintaining their excellent record at the 'Gabba. On contributions other than Steven Smith, Tim is happy as the team does not want to rely on Smith pretty heavily. Stresses that on a very good wicket, 580 is exactly the score that was expected out of the batsmen. On Warner getting back to form, the skipper says that many left-handers struggle in England but they always believed that Warner will strike form in Australia. On the Warner-Burns partnership, Paine says that he is not sure, as he has not spent too much time with Burns in the dressing room but is happy that whatever it is that keeps the pair ticking, it is great. On Marnus Labuschagne, Paine says that he is a great bloke to have as a mate, always keeping the dressing room in high spirits. Is happy that Labuschagne has realized his true potential. On his bowlers, Paine says that they were good but given the high standards that they have raised for themselves, he would have expected them to clean up Pakistan a bit earlier. But adds that Australia are lucky to have such a pace attack.
  • Pakistan skipper, Azhar Ali says that all of Pakistan's batsmen are in good nick and Babar showed that once they get a good partnership going, runs were always on offer. Praises the wicket which was very good but rues the missed opportunity in the first innings. On missing Mohammad Abbas, Ali says that it was always hard to leave someone like Abbas but the selection was done based on the performance of the trio in the warm-up match. Ensures that Abbas will always be there for Pakistan and they will come back hard in the second Test. Praises the debutant Naseem for having good temperament for a 16-year old, adjusting to the lengths and lines pretty quickly. On him being given just 4 overs on Saturday, Azhar says that Naseem is fit but the management does not want him to break down, hence they are managing him accordingly.
  • Now, for the summary of the match. Probably got over when Pakistan slipped from 75/0 to 94/5 on Day 1 and then managed just 240 after electing to bat. From there on, it was very difficult for them to come back and Warner-Burns' 222-run opening stand floored them. Yasir Shah was over the moon when he dismissed Steven Smith for the 7th time in Tests but they forgot that the Ashes had already prepared a substitute for Smudge - Marnus Labuschagne. The home lad played with total control and ensured that his side batted Pakistan out of the Test. Yasir Shah got 4 wickets but the bowling did not look threatening at all. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
  • First, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan added 132 for the 6th wicket and that was followed by a 79-run stand between Rizwan and Yasir. Azam scored a fantastic century but Rizwan missed his, while Yasir nearly got Australia batting again. Once again, it was the quartet of New South Wales bowlers as Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon took all the 10 wickets. Not that there were any more options. Starc took four in the first innings while Hazlewood got 4 in the second.
  • Babar Azam, Shan Masood, Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Shah - The Fantastic Four. They are the ones who kept Pakistan believing that they could fight and could avoid an innings defeat. Because after them, only Afridi managed double figures. Masood and Azam fought hard this morning, delaying Australia's quest for wickets and then the real fightback began.
  • 5 runs. That is what Pakistan fall short of to make Australia bat again. An innings defeat was expected and an innings defeat it is but what an epic fightback. Almost a reminiscent of the 2016 match where Pakistan nearly chased down 490. This time, they were chasing down 340 with the only difference being that the focus was to avoid an innings defeat.
  • 84.2 OUT! Caught! No, they will not have to because Imran has holed out. Good length ball on middle, Imran looks to power it over the mid-wicket fence this time but manages only a top edge. Wade from long on comes forward to catch but initially misjudges it. He backtracks and then manages to hold on the catch over his head. Australia win the first Test by an innings and five runs.
  • 84.1 FOUR! What a shot that is! Hits it over the bowler's head. Fullish length just around off, Imran clears his front leg and hammers it over mid on for a boundary. Five more runs and Australia will have to bat again.
  • 83.6 Hazlewood tries to bowl the inswinging yorker but ends up missing it and bowling a full toss. 331/9
  • 83.5 Heave and a miss this time. But it misses the bat and stumps as well.
  • Naseem Shah is the last man in.
  • 83.4 OUT! 9 down and Australia are just a wicket away. Back of a length delivery on middle, Shaheen looks to mow it to over mid-wicket but mistimes it. It lobs towards short cover where Cummins takes the easiest of the catches.
  • 83.3 Almost dragged it on the stumps. Full and wide outside off, Shaheen looks to drive but the ball takes the inside edge onto the pads.
  • 83.2 Bouncer and around off, Shaheen sways away from the line of the delivery.
  • 83.1 Good length ball around off, Shaheen blocks it off the front foot.
  • 82.6 Fuller and outside off, Imran pushes at it to get beaten. 331/8
  • 82.5 Shortish length, aimed at the body. Imran looks to work it on the leg side but gets hit on the body and then it goes to Labuschagne at short leg. He appeals but not sure for why. Nothing from the umpire.
  • 82.4 Back of a length ball on middle, Shaheen pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single. Two balls to survive for Imran.
  • 82.3 Full ball but down the leg side. Shaheen flicks but misses.
  • 82.2 On the pads again, Shahenn looks to flick but misses again. The ball goes to short leg.
  • 82.1 Pull and a miss! Bouncer and on middle, Shaheen goes for the pull but misses.

  • 79.5 FOUR! Nicely played! A short ball outside off, Yasir pulls it through mid-wicket! He moves to 42 from 55 balls.
  • 79.4 TOP EDGE, SAFE! A length ball, around middle, Yasir looks to flick but gets a top edge. • 79.2 This is slipped down the leg side, Afridi lets it pass and the ball keeps on kicking after landing. Paine leaps to his right and parries it to fine leg. Wrings his hand in pain. Finger injuries are always a pain for Tim.
  • Shaheen Afridi walks in at number 9, replacing Rizwan.
  • 79.1 OUT! Caught! Rizwan goes for 95! That is so, so, so, so sad for him. He is distraught. He just looks at the fielder, then his shot and thinks, 'What have I done?' It is difficult to say who spent a longer time at the crease after getting out - Rizwan or Sohail yesterday. A short ball outside off, Rizwan leaps and plays the upper cut but he finds Nathan Lyon at deep backward point! Is the innings defeat still on? 35 more needed for Pakistan to avoid that. End of a quickfire 79-run stand.

  • 77.5 NOT OUT. But had the decision been given out, Rizwan would have reviewed it. Because he did not hit it in the first place. A full ball, around middle, Rizwan gets across and looks to paddle. Now, the ball goes off something and two people go for the catch - Steven Smith from first slip and Marnus Labuschagne from short leg. Both dive and almost have a nasty collision but avert it. The South African pouches it and then claims the catch, celebrating as well. Umpire Kettleborough checks with Illingworth about the carry and then sends it upstairs, with the soft signal as OUT. Replays are too inconclusive with a big part of the ball touching the ground. But the replays then show the ball not hitting the bat or glove. Snickometer confirms.
  • Umpire's review for a fair catch! Has Marnus Labuschagne taken a blinder? The sweep shot has produced a top edge off Rizwan and Labuschagne is claiming the catch. But replays show that while taking the catch, the ball just touched the ground. This stand goes on...

  • 76.1 FOUR! Control? Sure! Yasir is in control. Full control. Loosener from Cummins, a half volley on the pads, Yasir just flicks it nonchalantly through square leg! He moves to 33 from 39 balls. The stand is worth 71 from 74 balls.
  • 4 overs left for the second new ball. Paine has gone back to Pat Cummins. 19-6-61-2 so far. Probably because the last 3 overs have gone for 17. The skipper will be hoping for a breakthrough. If not, then at least some control.

  • 72.1 Full and around leg, watchfully pushed down the track back to the bowler.
  • The Australian bowlers are out in the middle for the final time on the day. Can this be the final time in the game as well? Well, Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Shah too walk out and would want to make sure that does not happen. Marnus Labuschagne will continue bowling post Tea.
  • ... Day 4, Session 3 ...
  • Now, now, now. We have a final session on Day 4. Who would have thought that? Well, the superb 132-run stand between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have ensured this session. Now, how long these two batters can keep the association going? Will they be able to take the game into the fifth day? Join us for the final session of the day to find out.
