Apollo Tyres were on Tuesday announced as the Indian cricket team’s new jersey sponsor by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through a media release. While the BCCI did not reveal the total value of the deal, it has been reported that Apollo Tyres would be paying Rs 579 crore after winning a three-way bidding process.
This is the first time that Apollo Tyres, a reputed company in the global tyre industry, will be associating with Indian cricket. They will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract, which will run from now to March 2028. The sponsorship period will include 121 bilateral games and 21 ICC matches, meaning each match will cost Rs 4.77 crore.
Apollo Tyres beats Canva and JK Cement to become Team India sponsor
Apollo Tyres won the Team India jersey sponsorship by beating Canva and JK Cement in the bidding, after they placed bids of Rs 544 crore and Rs 477 crore, respectively.
Apollo Tyres’ entry was also made possible by Dream11's exit, who were forced to cancel its contract with the BCCI. Dream11 had a three-year contract until 2028, which was worth Rs 358 crore, but they had to cancel the deal due to the Online Gaming Bill 2025.
The new law, which was recently passed by the parliament, has made real-money games and their advertisements illegal in the country. As a result, Dream11 has shut down its fantasy-gaming operations.
