Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has come forward to deny reports claiming that his wife has filed a domestic violence and dowry harassment case against him and his family. Several media outlets reported that Mishra’s wife has demanded INR 1 crore as compensation and also alleged that Mishra’s family had asked for INR 10 lakh and a car as dowry during their wedding.
Mishra took to social media on Tuesday to respond to the reports anout him and his wife. The 42-year-old said he was shocked and disappointed to see his name and photo being used in stories that have nothing to do with him or his family. He warned media outlets to stop using his picture in such reports, or else he’ll consider taking them to court.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the veteran leg-spinner wrote, “I’m extremely disappointed by what’s being circulated in the media. I’ve always respected the press, but while the news itself may be accurate, the photograph used is mine—which is completely incorrect. Using my image for unrelated stories must stop immediately, or I will be forced to take legal action.”
Mishra has represented India in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is. His last match for India was a T20I against England in 2017. He was part of the Indian team that won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and reached the final of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2014. He is currently busy commentating on IPL 2025 .
Mishra had been an active player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) until last year. He has played for four IPL franchises over his long career including Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils), Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants. He holds the record for the most hat-tricks by a player in the IPL with three under his belt.
