Former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad has made a controversial remark over Indian team, saying that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow the International Cricket Council (ICC) to conduct dope tests on Indian players for any global event.
The claim remains unverified and drew immense criticism on social media. Even other Pakistani experts could not agree with Shehzad on his bizarre accusation against the Indian team for which he did not provide any instance or proof.
Shehzad’s bizzare claim
For ICC events, the global cricket administering body does tests for players of all teams. These players can be randomly tested during the tournament and even outside of a competition.
However, Shehzad alleged that the Indian team follows a different method and does not let ICC test its players. He said that Indian board has stated that it does not trust ICC’s system
“ICC does the dope tests for the entire world except India. Their own board does it for them. Sir, they don’t give it to the ICC; they say we have our own board, which would determine. The Indians have said that we don’t trust any technology outside, we have good technology, so we would do the dope test for our own players," Shehzad said on a YouTube show in Pakistan.

“How can this happen?” a bemused Amir asked on the show. Latif too showed doubt over the claims of Shehzad.
Shehzad’s claims are the latest in the series of bizarre accusations that former Pakistani stars have made on Indian cricket.
During the 2023 Cricket World Cup when India were running through sides with their bowling, former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza had said that the Indian bowlers were getting a different ball which was doing more off the surface. A similarly strange comment was recently made by Pakistan spin-bowling great Saqlain Mushtaq. He said that India have the technology to change pitches to assist them.
