Afghanistan have announced their 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE, with Rashid Khan as captain. They will begin their campaign against Hong Kong on September 9 in Abu Dhabi.

Afghanistan have named their 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025 , which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28. Star spinner Rashid Khan has been named the captain of the Afghan side. He will have the support of players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Rashid Khan (c), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Darwish Rasooli, Sediqullah Atal, Azmatullah Omarzai, Karim Janat, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Mohammad Ishaq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, AM Ghazanfar, Noor Ahmad, Fareed Ahmad, Naveen Ul Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Reserves: Wafiullah Tarakhil, Nangyal Kharote, Abdullah Ahmadzai.

These players were part of Afghanistan’s strong run in the T20 World Cup last year, where they reached the knockout stage and even beat the mighty Australia in the Super Eight round. Afghanistan will start their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on September 9 in Abu Dhabi. They are placed in Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong.

Before the Asia Cup, Afghanistan will take part in a Tri-Nation T20 series in Sharjah, where they will play against hosts UAE and Pakistan to prepare for the ACC tournament. This year’s Asia Cup is being held in the T20 format. India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman are in Group B.
