India’s aggressive opener Abhishek Sharma faced heavy criticism on social media after getting out for a duck against Pakistan in a crucial ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash. Fans did not hold back, with many calling his approach “immature” after he fell cheaply in the very first over of the match.

India were rocked early as they slipped to 1/1 at the end of the first over. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha made an immediate impact with the ball after deciding to take the new ball. Bowling a delivery on the back of a length, he forced Abhishek into a mistimed shot that was chipped straight to Shaheen Shah Afridi at mid-on.
Abhishek tried to attack from the start but struggled to time the ball. He faced four deliveries and failed to score, marking back-to-back ducks for him in the tournament. His dismissal left India under early pressure, especially in a high-voltage game where momentum plays a huge role.
Fans react to Abhishek’s early dismissal
This is so immature from Abhishek Sharma you can't hit 4/6 on every ball. First its better to hit the gaps, take singles. You need to see what kind of track you are batting on. #INDvsPAK

Abhishek Sharma , World cup is not Paytm Trophy. You have lots to work on how to play in the big matches . That’s why Virat and Rohit rated so high .#INDvsPAK #T20WorldCup2026

Earlier in the over, Abhishek had looked uncertain against Agha’s variations. He attempted to force shots through the off side but repeatedly found fielders. The wicket came on the last ball of the over when he went for a big shot but only managed a miscued chip.
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan has been batting fearlessly and is helping India recover from the early blow. He has reached 37 off 22 balls in the powerplay so far.
