Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill sent strongly-worded messages to Pakistan after dismantling the Men in Green with a powerful 105-run partnership on Sunday, as Men In Blue won the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match by six wickets. A much-improved Pakistan put up 171/5 at the Dubai International Stadium after multiple catch drops from India, including two from Abhishek Sharma and one from Shubman Gill, creating doubts among Indian fans.
Pakistan were pumped up for the contest after India refused to shake hands with them in the Group A contest. They had more to fight for and 172 looked like a challenging total. But all the trouble was demolished inside the first few overs of the Indian chase as Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, friends from the Punjab Under-14 cricket days, gave India a fiery start that made the result a mere formality.
69 runs came in the powerplay and the 100-run partnership was completed in just 52 balls before Faheem Ashraf dismissed Gill on 47 from 28, while Abhishek later fell to Abrar Ahmed after scoring 74 in 39 balls.

India eventually completed the chase in 18.5 overs with Tilak Varma smashing 30 in just 19 balls. After the match, both Gill and Abhishek took to social media to take a dig at Pakistan.
“You talk, we win,” Abhishek wrote on X with an Indian flag emoji and attached pictures from the match, while Gill wrote, “Game speaks, not words.”

It’s clear that both Gill and Abhishek were trying to send a message to Pakistan that action speaks louder than words, and instead of using press conferences or media bytes as a medium to criticise BCCI or the Indian team, they should perform on the pitch and earn the right to be respected.
For the unversed, this was Pakistan’s seventh straight defeat to India across ODIs and T20Is. Their last win was in the 2021 T20 World Cup when they beat India by 10 wickets. Since then, they have suffered defeats in the 2022 T20 World Cup, 2023 Asia Cup, 2023 ODI World Cup, 2024 T20 World Cup, 2025 Champions Trophy and twice in the 2025 Asia Cup.
