The BJP is taking aim at Tejashwi Yadav.
The party has accused Yadav of stealing beds, sofas and taps from the government bungalow he was occupying.
The development came ahead of the current Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary moving into the residence.
It also came after the Supreme Court dismissed a plea from Yadav against a Patna High Court ruling ordering him to vacate the property.
The apex court directed Yadav to move to the accommodation designated for the Leader of the Opposition.
The RJD has responded to the BJP’s claims, asking the party to ‘release the inventory.’
Let’s take a closer look at what happened:
What happened?
On Sunday, Yadav vacated the government bungalow at 5 Deshratna Road in Patna.
The property was allotted to him when he was the Bihar deputy chief minister.
Chaudhary, the new deputy chief minister, is set to move in.
On Monday, Chaudhary’s personal secretary Satrudhan Kumar claimed that a number of items were missing from the property, as per News18.
These included beds, sofas, taps, light fixtures, air conditioners and wash basins.
Kumar said, “We are bringing to light how the Deputy CM’s house has been robbed of its belongings. When Sushil Modi had shifted to this house, there were two hydraulic beds, there were sofa sets for guests and this was for everywhere to see, including the press. All those things are missing.”

More Shorts“More than 20 split ACs are missing. There is no computer or chair in the operating room. There is no fridge or RO in the kitchen. Lights have been snatched from the walls,” he claimed.
Danish Iqbal, Bihar BJP’s media in-charge, who also inspected the premises, said, “Samrat Chaudhary has been allotted this bungalow and was to shift to this house in Navratri. Essentials such as wash basins, water taps, and furniture are missing. The hydraulic bed has been taken away. The mat in the badminton court has been taken away. The gym is empty, there are no exercise machines. Foundation’s lights have been taken off.”
Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who hails from Bihar, has slammed the RJD leadership and demanded a detailed probe to ‘establish the scale of theft.’
Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) also took aim at Yadav for taking his time to vacate the bungalow after stepping down from his position.
“This was already unfortunate, and to add, Tejashwi took away the valuables too,” JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar was quoted as saying by News18.
RJD hits back
The RJD hit back, demanding that the BJP release the inventory or issue an apology.
“The leader of opposition in Bihar assembly has vacated the 5 Deshratan Marg bungalow. The Bhawan Nirman Vibhag must release the inventory. We have all the evidence. Our people, along with media, were also making a video. We challenge you to release the inventory or apologise if you can’t do that,” RJD national spokesperson Shakti Yadav was quoted as saying by NDTV.
CNBC quoted RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari as accusing the BJP of engaging in “petty politics.”
“Tejashwi has vacated the bungalow he occupied as Deputy Chief Minister. The BJP’s claims that he left with an AC and other items are baseless. They are suffering from Tejashwi phobia,” Tiwari added.
This came on the same day that a Delhi court on Monday granted bail to RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad and his sons Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav in the land-for-jobs money laundering case.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne granted the relief to the accused persons on a personal bond of Rs one lakh each, noting that they were not arrested during the investigation.
The accused appeared before the court in pursuance to summons issued to them by the court earlier.
