The Pune Porsche car crash has made headlines for the massive irregularities in investigating the incident.
In the latest development, Pune police have arrested the mother of a 17-year-old who is accused of running over two people while driving a luxury Porsche car.
According to the investigation, the accused minor’s blood sample was allegedly swapped with his mother’s to manipulate the alcohol test report and get him off the hook.
Here’s all we know about it.
The accused’s mother arrested
The mother of the 17-year-old accused, Shivani Agarwal, was taken into custody a few days after it was discovered that the teenager’s blood sample for an alcohol test at the Sassoon hospital had been substituted with a woman’s.
She was absconding since another two accused, Dr Shrihari Halnor and Dr Ajay Tawade, were arrested, and the police were trying to trace her.
Amitesh Kumar, the Commissioner of Police, stated that the accident investigation has shown that the boy’s blood samples had been replaced with his mother’s, as per NDTV.
She was arrested for tampering with evidence and being present at the hospital when blood tests were obtained, according to sources close to News18.
She will appear for the interrogation at about 11:30 am.
The Pune crime branch had previously recorded the mother’s statement in the case at the Agarwal residence.
Earlier, the teen’s mother had appeared in a video message, claiming that a viral video that seemed to feature her son was fake.

Irregularities in medical examination
A medical test conducted by the state-run Sassoon Hospital on the accused minor revealed further irregularities.
At Pune’s Sassoon General Hospital, the police stated that the teenager’s blood samples were thrown out and replaced with another person’s, which had no signs of alcohol.
According to News18 sources, the Pune crime branch had also called in a few Sassoon hospital nurses to question regarding the swap of blood samples.
The Maharashtra Medical Education (MME) department formed a three-member committee headed by Dr Pallavi Sapale, dean of Mumbai-based Grants Medical College, on 27 May to look into the matter.
On 29 May, Sassoon hospital doctors submitted their report to the probe panel.
Earlier, the police arrested Dr Ajay Taware, the then-head of Sassoon Hospital’s forensic department, Dr Shrihari Harnol, the casualty medical officer at the time, and Atul Ghatkamble, a Class IV employee, on suspicion of altering the minor’s blood sample in exchange for financial rewards, as per Indian Express.
According to an investigation by the police, Dr Taware spoke with the minor’s father up to 14 times in the two hours before the collection of the boy’s blood sample on 19 May.
Meanwhile, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) has granted permission to the Pune police to investigate the accused minor. As part of the continuing investigation into the accident, they will question him regarding the swapping of blood samples at the Sassoon hospital.
According to Indian Express sources, the minor may be questioned by police in the coming days at the observation house in front of his family members and the child protection officer.
The crash
Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Kostha, both 24-year-old engineers from Madhya Pradesh, were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by the 17-year-old, in the early hours of 19 May in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area.
According to the police, the teenager, who is the son of builder Vishal Agarwal, was drunk at the time.
There was massive outrage after the accused was out on bail within 15 hours on conditions widely described as flimsy.
The Juvenile Justice Board was forced to modify its order and send him to an observation home till 5 June. In the meantime, the police is preparing a case against the teen to try him as an adult.
The investigation in the case also revealed efforts by the influential family to cover up the accused minor’s crime.
Moreover, the minor’s father and grandfather, Surendra Agarwal, have been also arrested for allegedly kidnapping the family’s driver and pressuring him to take the blame.
