Piyush Goyal takes ‘Moye Moye’ dig at Rahul after Congress loss: What's this Instagram trend?

Union minister Piyush Goyal used the hit song “Moye Moye” to mock Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, caving in to the latest social media trend. This comes after the grand-old party suffered a huge loss in yesterday’s assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Goyal took to X following his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s historic victory in the Hindi heartland to highlight how Gandhi’s “prediction came true” in the face of the 137-year-old party’s crushing defeat in the aforementioned states.

The “Moye Moye” trend The melody originates from the chorus of Džanum, a 2023 song by Serbian singer Teya Dora. Anyone may easily lip-sync to the viral song due to its catchy nature and simple, repeating lyrics. Notably, Moye More, which translates to “my nightmares” in Serbian, is the proper pronunciation of the lyrics; nonetheless, Moye Moye is used in the viral trend since it is the catchiest. Dora’s song, which is about three minutes long, depicts a person at their lowest point emotionally and uses words that are meant to evoke agony and despair. Enough to undermine the song’s main idea is the chorus, which consists of her repeating “my nightmares.” A new twist of dark humour Thanks to the folks on social media, the song has got a new twist of dark humour. Short reel videos called “Moye Moye” usually feature a conversation between two people, in which one is shown to be having problems in some way. To emphasise the depressing nature of the situation, the duo then perform the “Moye Moye” dance.

A few “Moye Moye” reels also feature exchanges in which one party finds out all of a sudden that the other is disabled and then comes the realisation when the sound goes viral. Despite the possibility of being seen as mocking a disability, the original intent behind several of these videos was to satirise the formulaic “life lessons” videos that frequently gain widespread popularity on the internet.

But because their melodramatic storylines are meant to finally win over easy viewpoints, they frequently come across as fake and unsophisticated. The entire trend became more well-known across the country, especially when Australia defeated India in the World Cup 2023 final. Following the devastating match, numerous videos that netizens shared about the World Cup increased dramatically. ‘Moye Moye’ playing in the background, the Delhi Police also joined the trend and shared a warning against reckless driving.

Other viral European tunes Earlier this year, French singer-songwriter Jain’s song Ooohe, Makeba, which was first released in 2015, became popular on Instagram reels where it was used as the soundtrack for users’ short videos. The artist Miriam Makeba, an anti-apartheid activist, is the “Makeba” referenced in the song. A Romanian song called Dragostea Din Tei, which was released in 2003 by the Moldovan boy band O-Zone, gained popularity in the English-speaking world even in the early days of the internet in 2004 when an American YouTuber named Gary Brolsma posted a video of himself dancing to the song. Assembly Elections Results 2023 Three Hindi-speaking states — Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh — have been added to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) electoral portfolio following the outcome of the Assembly election yesterday. The BJP’s win in Chhattisgarh has surprised everyone, especially the Congress, even though some exit polls had predicted the saffron party winning in Rajasthan and MP. The BJP secured 54 seats in Chhattisgarh, while the Congress managed only 35 seats. With 164 seats, the saffron party crushed the opposition in MP, dropping the Congress to second place with 65 seats. Against the Congress’s 69 seats, Rajasthan has awarded the BJP 115 seats. With 64 seats, the Grand Old Party has achieved a noteworthy victory in Telangana. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, trails far behind with 39 seats, while the BJP has eight seats. After the results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attributed the BJP’s victory in the three states to the “politics of good governance and development."\

We bow to the Janta Janardan.

The results in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan indicate that the people of India are firmly with politics of good governance and development, which the @BJP4India stands for.

“I thank the people of these states for their unwavering support and assure them that we will keep working tirelessly for their well-being,” he wrote while expressing gratitude on X. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also “humbly” accepted defeat in the three states, saying the “battle of ideology will continue.”

मध्य प्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़ और राजस्थान का जनादेश हम विनम्रतापूर्वक स्वीकार करते हैं - विचारधारा की लड़ाई जारी रहेगी।
