Tyler Robinson, who is accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was living with Lance Twiggs, his transgender ‘partner’, who is transitioning from male to female. Utah Governor Spencer Cox said Robinson was in a relationship with Twiggs. Notably, Twiggs helped in Robinson’s arrest by providing authorities with texts in which Tyler talked about hiding the gun used to kill Kirk, who had anti-LGBTQ views

Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Robinson, who has been accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was living with a transgender ‘partner’ who is transitioning from male to female.

Public records show that Lance Twiggs, also 22, was registered at the same address as Robinson.

Notably, Robinson allegedly fired a rifle from the top of a building at another university campus, killing conservative influencer Charlie Kirk while he was speaking at Utah Valley University last week.

The shooting has added to growing concerns across the country about political violence.

But who is Lance Twiggs?

Here’s a look:

Who is Lance Twiggs?

The 22-year-old is an aspiring professional gamer and was living with Tyler Robinson as a roommate.

According to Spencer Cox, the governor of Utah, Twiggs comes from a conservative Christian family in Utah and is transitioning from male to female.

Cox also said that Robinson was in a relationship with the transgender person.

Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Cox said Robinson had been living with his transgender partner Lance Twiggs.

A family member confirmed to The New York Post on Saturday, “yes, they were roommates.” The family member described Twiggs as the “black sheep” of the family but did not comment on whether there was a romantic relationship between the two.

She said she was unaware of Twiggs’s political views or details about the transition, but added, “It wouldn’t surprise me.”

The Daily Mail reported that Twiggs helped in Robinson’s arrest on Friday by providing the Federal Bureau of Investigation with texts where Robinson talked about hiding the gun used to kill Charlie Kirk.

Twiggs, originally from southern Utah, studied at Utah Tech University, according to a Facebook page. Robinson was studying to be an electrician at a nearby technical college.

Like Robinson, Twiggs was deeply into gaming and often shared videos of shooting games on a TikTok account that read: ‘Becoming TikTok pros one terrible video at a time.’ Twiggs posted clips of playing games like Apex Legends, Valorant and Rocket League.

Friends told Daily Mail that Robinson and Twiggs were part of a large online group chat of gamer friends, most of whom were from Robinson’s former school, Pine View High School, on the Discord platform.

Law enforcement sources told Axios that Twiggs was “aghast” on learning about Robinson’s alleged actions and is being “extremely cooperative” with investigators.

Why Robinson killed Charlie Kirk

Investigators are still trying to find out what may have led Robinson to the rooftop where the shooting happened. Officials have not confirmed a clear motive yet, but shared some details on Friday while announcing his arrest.

Spencer Cox told reporters that a family member interviewed by police said Robinson had recently spoken about Charlie Kirk’s planned appearance at Utah Valley University, where the shooting took place.

“They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints he had,” Cox said, without giving more details.

The family member also told investigators that Robinson had become more interested in politics in recent years. Authorities said they found bullet casings with anti-fascist messages carved into them along with the suspected murder weapon.

Robinson was arrested late on Thursday and is currently in custody. His first court appearance is expected next week.

Officials have described the attack as a “political assassination.”

His arrest came after a 33-hour manhunt that began after Kirk’s killing. Two other people were taken into custody on Wednesday during the search, but were later released.

Robinson was booked into the Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork, around 12 miles (19 km) from the university where Kirk was shot.

Notably, Charlie Kirk was a right-wing activist and ally of Donald Trump. He was also one of the most prominent conservative figures in the country.

He was credited with helping boost Trump’s support among young voters, inspiring conservative youth, and gaining global recognition through an organisation he started when he was just 18.
