Weeks after the first attack, comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada’s Surrey was targeted in another shooting early Thursday morning.
According to videos circulating on social media, at least 25 gunshots could be heard being fired at the cafe.
Surrey police officers found several bullet holes, smashed windows, and damage to the building, according to local media reports. Although staff members were working inside at the time, no one was harmed, they said.
Notably, Kap’s Cafe is owned by Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath. This is the second time the establishment has come under attack, the first being on July 10, just a few days after it was inaugurated.
But who is responsible for the attack this time? Why is the cafe being targeted?

Kapil Sharma’s cafe attacked: Who is responsible?
The police in Surrey have begun their investigation into the firing incident.
In a statement, the police said, “At approximately 4:40 am on August 7, 2025, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of shots fired outside a business in the 8400 block of 120 Street. The same business was the location of a similar incident on July 10, 2025.”
Meanwhile, gangster Goldy Dhillon, who is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.
In a post on Facebook, he wrote, “JAI SHRI RAM, Satshriakal ram sare bhaiyo ko aj jo y kapil sharma k kaps cafe..Surrey m firing hui iski jimevari, Goldy dhillon, Lawrence bishnoi gang lete h isko hamne call ki thi isko ring nhi Sunai di to karwai krni pdi ab b ring n sunegi to next karwai jaldi hi Mumbai krege” (sic).

"We called him, but he did not answer the call.. If he still does not respond, we will take further action in Mumbai soon...," Goldy stated in SM post #Canada #KapilSharma https://t.co/jw8XVWlOje pic.twitter.com/P8Sl38AS2D
Here’s a rough translation of the alleged post: “We take responsibility for the firing in Surrey. We had called him, but he did not hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still does not hear the ring, the next action will be in Mumbai.”
It is worth noting that the Mumbai Police are still verifying the authenticity of the social media post.
Reports also suggested that Kapil’s invitation to Salman Khan for the show’s inauguration could be one of the reasons the Bishnoi gang targeted the comedian’s café.
An audio clip accessed by India Today revealed Bishnoi gang member Harry Boxer admitting to a link between Salman Khan and the attack on the café.
“The first and now the second firing at Kapil Sharma’s restaurant happened because he had invited Salman Khan to the inauguration on a Netflix show,” the audio clip revealed, according to the media outlet.
Notably, Salman Khan featured in the opening episode of season 3 of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, which premiered on Netflix on June 21.
Who attacked Kap’s Cafe the first time?
Kapil Sharma’s cafe faced a similar attack when at least nine shots were fired on July 10, only a few days after its inauguration.
The responsibility for that incident was claimed by the Laddi gang, which is linked to the banned Khalistani terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Notably, Harjit Singh Laddi is a fugitive wanted in India on several terrorism-related charges.
He allegedly orchestrated the shooting after finding an earlier statement made during the comedian’s show to be offensive.

According to a report by NDTV, a member of the terror group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) said that a participant at the comedian’s show made several “humorous” statements about the traditional clothing and conduct of Nihang Sikhs, which allegedly hurt the community’s sentiments.
Harjit Singh Laddi is also wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for the murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar alias Vikas Bagga, who was shot dead in April last year at his shop in Punjab’s Rupnagar district.
Has Kapil Sharma reacted to the incident?
The popular comedian has not yet issued any statement on the recent firing at his cafe.
However, Kapil Sharma, along with his wife, recently posted a video of the cafe hosting Surrey mayor Brenda Locke and local police personnel.
“Thank you to the mayor of surrey Brenda Locke,@surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We’re truly grateful,” read the Instagram post.
The video showed officials visiting the cafe and having a peaceful dining experience. However, Sharma’s words against violence caught everyone’s attention.
After the cafe was attacked the first time, the establishment took over a week to reopen. Kapil then reshared a post that was initially posted by Kap’s Cafe.
It read, “Kap’s Cafe. Reopens tomorrow. We’ve missed you and are truly grateful for your continued love and support. With heartfelt thanks, we’re opening our doors again, ready to welcome you back with warmth, comfort, and care. See you soon, 8 am to 10 pm.”
