Israel’s Netanyahu to address UNGA
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will speak at the United Nations General Assembly in New York today.
Before leaving for the US, he said he would “denounce” Western leaders who have recognised a Palestinian state in his speech.
“At the UN General Assembly, I will speak our truth — the truth about the citizens of Israel, the truth about our IDF soldiers and the truth about our country,” Netanyahu said.
He added, “I will denounce those leaders who, instead of denouncing the murderers, rapists and child burners, want to give them a state in the heart of the Land of Israel. This will not happen.”
March to the UN to call for sanctions on Israel
Thousands are expected to rally in New York City today demanding sanctions on Israel and an end to the war in Gaza.
The protests will take place at the same time as Netanyahu’s speech at the UNGA.
The Shut It Down for Palestine Coalition and the Palestinian Youth Movement are leading the protest against Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Prime Minister Modi will launch Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana today at 11 am via video conferencing. The PM will directly transfer Rs 10,000 each into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across Bihar, amounting to Rs 7,500 crore.
The scheme is aimed to make women aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) and promote empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities. The scheme is universal in nature, under which financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state will be provided, enabling them to start employment or livelihood activities of their choice.
An initial grant of Rs 10,000 will be provided, with possibility of additional financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh in subsequent phases.
IAF’s MiG-21 to retire
India’s MiG-21 fighter jets will be retired today as the Indian Air Force says goodbye to the Soviet-origin aircraft that have served for six decades.
The IAF plans to replace the MiG-21 with the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mark 1A.
Called the “backbone of the IAF”, the MiG-21 has been central to India’s air strength for nearly 60 years.
The aircraft saw major action in several operations, including the 1971 war with Pakistan, where it proved its capability. Over time, it has trained many generations of fighter pilots.
Australian PM to meet British counterpart
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer today.
The two leaders are also set to take part in a series of other high-level meetings.
The United Kingdom is Australia’s second-largest source of foreign investment and also the second-largest destination for Australian investment abroad.
“This visit is focused on taking forward Australia’s national and economic interests at home,” Albanese said.
Asia Cup 2025: India vs Sri Lanka
India will face Sri Lanka in their final Super 4 match of the Asia Cup today.
After India’s win over Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, which lost both its Super 4 games against Bangladesh and Pakistan, has already been knocked out of the tournament and will play only to complete its schedule.
