An Indian man has been viciously assaulted in Ireland.
The man, who is in his 40s, was beaten up and stripped by a right-wing gang.
The Irish police have opened an investigation into the incident which officials have described as ‘vile and racist’.
But what happened? What do we know?

What happened?
The incident occurred in Dublin’s Tallaght neighbourhood at Parkhill Road on Saturday evening.
The victim, an Amazon employee, is said to have arrived in Ireland just a few weeks ago.
He is said to have been beaten up and partially stripped by the young hoodlums.
They are said to have removed his trousers.
The victim is said to have been bleeding profusely and suffered injuries to his face, arms and legs.
Some passers-by are said have come to his aid.
A woman on social media claimed she was among those who came to the victim’s aid and called for help.
She said that the youth involved in the attack were around 15 to 16 years old.
Jennifer Murray, a resident of the area, told the Journal the victim was covered in blood head to toe and pleading for help.
She said some passers-by were simply recording the incident with their phones.
“He was a gentle man and he was stripped, he was attacked. He told us what happened, that they punched him in the head first. He had about an inch and a half gash above his eyebrow, and then about an inch above his other eyebrow,” Murray said

“His legs were completely saturated in blood,” Murray added. “The blood had actually congealed so much we had to cut his jacket often to check for wounds on his chest.”
She called the incident “pure racism, leading to innocent people being attacked”.
The victim was taken to the Tallaght University Hospital for treatment.
The Irish National Police, known as the Gardai, were alerted about the incident at 6 pm.
“Gardaí in Tallaght were alerted to an incident at Parkhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on the evening of Saturday 19th July, 2025 at approximately 6pm. Gardaí attended the scene and a male, aged in his 40s was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries”, the police said.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.
However, no arrests have been made as of now.
The right-wing gang accused the victim of acting inappropriately around children.
However, the police has dismissed such allegations completely.
The victim has been released from hospital on Sunday.
Investigators think the assailants may have launched similar unprovoked attacks on foreign nationals in the Tallaght area recently.
Ireland is home to around 1 lakh Indians – many of them professionals who work in healthcare and Information Technology.
Attacks against minorities including from South Asia have been on the rise over the past few years.
“Ireland was not unsafe earlier, but over the past three years, the situation has dramatically changed because of the rise of violent racist gangs that target foreigners,” a diplomatic source told The Hindu.
What are authorities saying?
The Indian government is in touch with its Irish counterparts.
The Indian Embassy has said it is in touch with the victim and his family and is offering all possible assistance.
The Embassy wrote on its X account:
Regarding the recent incident of physical attack on an Indian national happened in Tallaght, Dublin, Embassy is in touch with the victim and his family. All the requisite assistances are being offered.

Embassy is also in touch with the relevant Irish authorities in this regard.
Indian Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra told The Hindu that India’s Embassy has been in contact with authorities.
Mishra said Indians in Ireland have been left anxious by the attack.
“The horrible attack has naturally caused widespread concern and fear in the local Indian community. Embassy is in touch with the victim, the larger community and has taken up the matter with various Irish authorities,” Mishra said.
Mishra earlier took to X to slam the reporting about the case.
“How can an ‘ALLEGED’ assault cause such horrible injury & bleeding?” he asked.
However, Mishra thanked the Irish police for their help.
Baby Pereppadan, Fine Gael councillor for Tallaght South, said the victim is in shock.
“He couldn’t speak much because of the shock he was in, he only arrived in Ireland three weeks ago. He is not taking any visitors at the moment", Pereppadan told The Irish Independent.
Pereppadan called for police presence in the area to be increased and said such incidents were occurring with alarming frequency.
“People need to understand that many Indian people moving to Ireland are here on work permits, to study and work in the healthcare sector or in IT and so on, providing critical skills", he added.
Seán Crowe, Sinn Fein TD for Dublin South-West, called the incident “violent and racist”.
Crowe said the incident was “vile and utterly unacceptable on so many levels”.
“Anyone who thinks this sort of mindless, racist violence makes their community safer is lying and fooling no one. Some residents are increasingly nervous to leave their homes due to this type of behaviour, regardless of whether they are new arrivals to our community or have lived here all their lives.
“I condemn this attack entirely and call on anyone with any information relating to this incident to reach out to the garda authorities. This is not the first such attack in our area, but it has to be the last”, he added.
Local People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy said, “The local community is in shock at this appalling attack. This appears to be the latest in a series of recent racially motivated attacks by a gang in the area. Those responsible must be found and stopped”.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan added, “Increasingly, you hear of people blaming immigrants for crimes. All I can say to you is: I have asked for the statistics and when you look at the prison population of people convicted of offences, the percentage of immigrants in prison is lower than the percentage of immigrants in society. So there’s no substance to the suggestion that immigrants are more likely to commit a criminal offence”.
