The United Kingdom saw large-scale violent attacks targeting the Muslims and migrant population recently, triggering several countries to issue advisories for their citizens to be cautious while travelling to the country.

Officials said Thursday (August 8) that the deployment of heavy security, rapid arrests and unity displayed by people across Britain helped in stopping a repeat of the widespread rioting, including racist attacks.

Over 400 people have been arrested across the country, with Britain’s most senior police officer, London Commissioner Mark Rowley, saying more arrests were made on Thursday. False rumours online have been blamed for adding fuel to the fire.
